Design and Implementation of A Real-time Collaborative Group ICN Editor
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 1~7
Recently, there are two important research trends in the literature the red-time collaborative computing end electronic business process automation. This paper is one of those efforts that would establish an effective business office working and computing environment hough the integration of those two cutting-edge technologies. That is, we try to develop a workflow modeling tool that is semantically based upon the information control net(ICN), which is a typical workflow model for specifying office work procedures(business processes), and that is systemically based upon the real-time collaborative operations by a set of actors, which is called group, We name it "group ICN editor". This paper describes the design and implementation of the group ICN editor that is operable under the real-time collaborative computing environment. We use the Flexible rJAMM toolkit that enables the ICN editor to operate among multiple actors(group) through the event-driven collaboration platform, Consequently, a set of workflow and business processes defined through this editor is not only stored onto database but also transformed into the format of the workflow process definition language(WPDL) that is a standardized workflow description and specification language proposed by the workflow management coalition(WfMC).ion(WfMC).
Web Document-based Associate Knowledge Extraction Method : Applying to Bioinformatics
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 9~19
In this paper. we develop associate knowledge extraction method for finding and expanding user preference knowledge automatically from web document database. To reflect user interest or preferences, agent explores and extracts relevant information to central term involving the intent of users from the example documents. To do so, we apply association rule exploration data-mining method to the extraction of the relevant objects in the web documents. Also, to give the weighted-value to the extracted and relevant information, we present associate tag block-based weighting method. We applied to bioinformatics above associate knowledge extraction method to find related keywords.
WebPierrot : Multimedia Homepage Authoring System Including Web Database
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 21~29
In this paper, we present the development of a system(WebPierrot) that helps end-users to generate home pages with the construction of their corresponding web databases without the web programming technique. It consists of a page editor. a database wizard and a database manager. The page editor creates and modifies multimedia home pages. The database wizard generates databases operated with home pages automatically, and the database manager maintains the database related to the home pages. The page editor has been made based on the DHTML(Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language) and lets users generate multimedia home pages interactively. The database manager creates, updates and manages web databases. The system has the advantage which end-users can create multimedia home pages containing databases without requiring web database programming.
A Study on Teaching method for architectural design based on internet virtual reality
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 31~39
Activities in fields based on internet virtual reality are flourishing. Education field is not an exception, and has reached the stage of establishing a cyber university after showing its activity in the developing field of distance learning. Although some of the architectural education fields have been following this trend, the education field of architectural design has not been developed as wildly because there have been a lot of difficulties in expressing three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional web. However, it has become possible to actualize the remote lecture based on internet in the education field of architectural design through the latest developments in internet technology. The purpose of this research is to be a basis for developing a teaching method for architectural design by taking advantage of the advanced in virtual reality technology on the internet.
An EJB-Based Database Agent for Workflow Definition
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 41~47
This paper deals with an EJB-based database agent(component) used to define workflow processes, which is a core function of the e-Chautauqua workflow management system that is an on-going research product. We describe about how to design and implement the EJB-based DB agent that is deployed on EJB server as a component. The agent is located between the build-time clients and the database system, and manages database accesses, such as retrieves and stores, from the workflow definition components. Through the EJB technology, we are able to accomplish a stable database agent that can be characterized by the distributed object management, reliable recovery mechanism from system failovers, reliable large-scale transaction management, and the security functions.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 49~58
Mobile positioning measurement is the most important technology for Location Based Services in the cellular networks. Generally, we are expecting to use GPS to guarantee high accuracy of the mobile position, A CDMA network-based technique for the Mobile Station position calculation needs to be implemented in the cdma2000 network whether the handsets have GPS or not, The most reliable methods of the network-based location technologies are based on the estimation of time of signal traveling between MS and B18 in a network whose coordinates are identified, Other signal parameters such as the power of the received signal and the signal arrival direction cannot be used as main data for a location system because adoption of only the signal parameters will not meet the FCC requirements, In practice, the estimates of the time of signal propagation between MS and BTS always have errors resulting from low-resolution power of measurements and multi path signal propagation, This paper describes the combined network-based location technology in the cdma2000 1× necessary to meet US FCC requirements. The issues of a calibration table and statistic processing based on the pilot strength as well as combined network-based location technologies(TOA/ TDOA) will help to achieve higher location accuracy than specified in the US FCC Rule.
Design and Performance Evaluation of Data Models for the XML Document Management
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 59~70
Recently, in various fields XML has been become a standard for information exchange in internet. Therefore, the researches on data modeling for storing and fetching the XML documents have been made actively. However, existing researches have weak points that they can support neither versioning nor fast fetching of documents while changing documents in dynamic environments. In this paper, we propose four kinds of hybrid data modeling schemes that combine fragmentation model and nonfragmentation model. Our data modeling schemes are suitable to dynamic environments. We also present guidelines that our hybrid data modeling schemes can be used for various applications. We shaw through various experiments that our hybrid schemes partially outperforms the existing modeling schemes in terms of insertion time, storage space and retrieval time.
Design of Hybrid Group Update Protocol for Replica Consistency
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 71~79
Replication in distributed databases is to improve efficiency, availability, and autonomy, But applying the strict consistency in real systems is very difficult. In this paper, I introduce a hybrid protocol permitting group update through eager update propagation and weakening consistency through lazy update, This protocol manages replica version number for the group update consistency and generates partially ordered replica spanning tree for the serializability of lazy update transactions. It preserves weak consistency by combining synchronous and asynchronous update mechanism. Study of performance analysis for the efficiency of the protocol be included in next paper.
Modeling Components for mapping from XML DTD to RDB schema
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 2, issue 5, 2001, Pages 81~91
XML is a standard markup language for exchange and storage of formed or well-formed information in World Wide Web, Because the source data of XML message for exchange of information in World Woo Web Is stored in legacy database systems. it is necessary the easier connection between XML application and database systems, In Oracle8i. 9i. informix and SQL2000. DBMS vendors extend their DBMSs for XML. This approach for the connection between XML application and database system is Platform-dependent and DBMS-dependent. Therefore it is necessary the platform- and DBMS-independent approach for the connection between XML application and database system, In this paper. we modeled a set of middleware components for relational database design based on XML DTD is modeled, Those components are modeled on object-based algorithm for connection between XML application and database system.
