Design and Implementation of Domain Ontology to Overcome Conceptual Heterogeneity in Annotation-based Image Retrieval

As the multimedia information retrieval system is advanced, the study of multimedia information retrieval is changing the method of low-level content based image retrieval to the semantical concept based retrieval. in this paper, we apply the theory of ontology to overcome the conceptual heterogeneity in the annotation based image retrieval. And we solve the some problems that happen when the ontology apply. As a result of our study, we try to apply the domain ontology to settle the conceptual heterogenity. In the experimental result, we knew that the semantic distance among the words is pretty dose when we apply the domain ontology than the wordnet. And in this paper, we show the possibility of the semantic image retrieval as we apply the domain ontology in the annotation based image retrieval.
The Modified Block Matching Algorithm for a Hand Tracking of an HCI system

A GUI (graphical user interface) has been a dominant platform for HCI (human computer interaction). A GUI - based interaction has made computers simpler and easier to use. The GUI - based interaction, however, does not easily support the range of interaction necessary to meet users' needs that are natural. intuitive, and adaptive. In this paper, the modified BMA (block matching algorithm) is proposed to track a hand in a sequence of an image and to recognize it in each video frame in order to replace a mouse with a pointing device for a virtual reality. The HCI system with 30 frames per second is realized in this paper. The modified BMA is proposed to estimate a position of the hand and segmentation with an orientation of motion and a color distribution of the hand region for real - time processing. The experimental result shows that the modified BMA with the YCbCr (luminance Y, component blue, component red) color coordinate guarantees the real - time processing and the recognition rate. The hand tracking by the modified BMA can be applied to a virtual reclity or a game or an HCI system for the disable.
Coordinator Election Mechanism for Increasing System Lifetime in Wireless Ad-hoc Networks

Wireless ad-hoc networks are only composed with mobile devices. Unlike the traditional wired networks, those devices are mostly operated with battery power. Since the battery-operated power is limited, the efficient energy resource managements becomes an important issue in wireless ad-hoc networks and various studies that considered these characteristics are progressed. One of those studies is an energy efficient routing using coordinators. In this method. only devices elected as coordinator participate in data transmissions in ad-hoc networks, while other devices remain in sleep node. The overall energy consumption of a system can be reduced. In order to minimize energy consumption of a total network, previous results try to maximize the number of nodes in sleep mode. However, minimizing the number of coordinators does not ensure to increase the system lifetime. In this thesis, we propose an algorithm that can elect coordinators with considering the amount of necessary energy to transmit assigned data and a connectivity of nodes in the networks. The result of proposed coordinator election algorithm can increase the system lifetime of an Ad-hoc network from the results of existing coordinator election algorithms.
A Hybrid Digital Watermarking Technique for Copyright Protection and Tamper Detection on Still images

Digital image manipulation software is now readily available on personal computers. It is therefore very simple to tamper with any image and make it available to others. Therefore. copyright protection of digital contents and insurance of digital image integrity become major issues. In this paper, we propose a hybrid watermarking method to identify locations of tampered region as well as copyright. Our proposed algorithms embed the PN-sequence into low frequency sub-band of the wavelet transform domain and it doesn't need the original image in extraction procedure. The experimental results show good robustness against any signal processing with tamper detection on still image.
UML Class Diagram for XDR Schema

XML becomes the standard for exchanging documents and data on the Web. Schema is used to define XML documents. Among schema, XDR schema, developed chiefly by Microsoft, is a leading schema for practical use. UML is a notation in object-oriented software development and a useful tool to represent the structure of a system. In this paper, we study the transformation method and algorithm from XDR schema to UML diagram. By this transformation, the structure of XDR schema is represented graphically. Thus we can easily understand the structure of XDR schema and we can create XML documents effectively by enhancing reusability and flexibility.
Calculating Attribute Values using Interval-valued Fuzzy Sets in Fuzzy Object-oriented Data Models

In general, the values for attribute appearing in fuzzy object-oriented data models are represented by the fuzzy sets. If it can allow the attribute values in the fuzzy object-oriented data models to be represented by the interval-valued fuzzy sets, then it can allow the fuzzy object-oriented data models to represent the attribute values in more flexible manner. The attribute values of frames appearing in the inheritance structure of the fuzzy object-oriented data models are calculated by a prloritized conjunction operation using interval-valued fuzzy sets. This approach can be applied to knowledge and information processing in which degree of membership is represented as not the conventional fuzzy sets but the interval-valued fuzzy sets.
A New Certificate Validation Scheme for Delegating the Digital Signature Verification

To perform the certificate validation on the user-side application induces the very considerable overhead on the user-side system because of the complex and time-consuming characteristic of the validation processing. Most of the time spend for performing the validation processing is required for the digital signature verification, since the verification accompanies with the cryptographic calculation over each certificate on the certificate path. In this paper, we propose a new certificate validation scheme using DSVP(Delegated Signature Validation Protocol) which can reduce the overhead for the user-side certificate validation processing. It is achieved by delegating the digital signature verification to CAs of the PKI domain. As the proposed DSVP is the protocol performed between a user and CAs, it is applied to the hierarchical PKI efficiently and used for delegating the digital signature verification reliably and safely, our proposed scheme can not only reduces the overhead for the validation processing by decreasing the cryptographic calculation but also improves the utilization of CAs by employing them to the validation processing.
A Study on the Prefetch Method for Multimedia Presentations to play on the Low Bandwidth Mobile Devices

Recently, It is required that multimedia data display on not only PC but also the Mobile device such as cellar phone, PDA. Mobile divieces has not sufficient of storage space or main memory and has slow network speed. So we can't process the multimedia data with the existing way on PC. This paper presents various methods for MultimediaPresentation which are able to display on the mobile device with the low-bandwidth and small storage. There Is an analysis that Is playable on the mobile device using presentation area devision method and replayable analysis method. If the display of multimedia presentation is impossible from this analysis, to apply prefetch techniques a using EPOB apoint and as User QoS of multimedia data through prefetch techniques have keep, do so that playable. Then, it is proposed to playable smooth multimedia presentation as that each of the presentations through prefetch Scheduling techniques point and quantity of data which are prefetch.
