Sso, Sang-Jin ; Jin, Hyun-Joon ; Park, Noh-Kyung ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 1~7
Since the DirectTV started its digital broadcasting services in 1994 for the first time in the U.S., digital broadcasting widened its services in many areas. In korea, TIT(Transport Information Technology) based IP-TV services have been provided in Saemaeul trains and some sections of subway trains. But the software systems for the service performed in alternated fashions and suffered from many problems such as suspension, memory leaking and overflow. These problems increased playback loss time and resulted in bad reliabilities. In this paper, a software TIT monitor is designed and implemented for the TIT system in physically poor environments. The designed system formalized monitoring time intervals for effective monitoring. Through the real experiments, playback time is improved in 14% comparing to existing system.
Design of License Management Model for super-distribution between DRM Consumers
Lee, Byung-Wook ; Liu, Zong-Hua ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 9~17
Super-distribution is essential for revitalization of digital contents industry in DRM system. Since existing DRM systems emphasize on security for intellectual property rights, it became restrictions to content distribution and the consumer rights. This paper suggests license management mechanism which strengthen super-distribution between consumers. It is to manage distribution history for each content by inserting consumer's identification information in content head. Client can verify security by comparing header and license after issuing license. It classifies the type of distribution and license, and then applies adaptive distribution methods. It can revitalize contents distribution by releasing proper license for super-distribution.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 19~32
This paper present a new face recognition method based on LVQ neural net to construct a real time face recognition system. The previous researches which used PCA, LDA combined neural net usually need much time in training neural net. The supervised LVQ neural net needs much less time in training and can maximize the separability between the classes. In this paper, the proposed method transforms the input face image by PCA and LDA sequentially into low-dimension feature vectors and recognizes the face through LVQ neural net. In order to make the system robust to external light variation, light compensation is performed on the detected face by max-min normalization method as preprocessing. PCA and LDA transformations are applied to the normalized face image to produce low-level feature vectors of the image. In order to determine the initial centers of LVQ and speed up the convergency of the LVQ neural net, the K-Means clustering algorithm is adopted. Subsequently, the class representative vectors can be produced by LVQ2 training using initial center vectors. The face recognition is achieved by using the euclidean distance measure between the center vector of classes and the feature vector of input image. From the experiments, we can prove that the proposed method is more effective in the recognition ratio for the cases of still images from ORL database and sequential images rather than using conventional PCA of a hybrid method with PCA and LDA.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 33~43
In this proper, we proposes a robust watermarking against the lossy compression in the Hadamard domain. The Hadamard matrix consists of only 1 or -1 and can be computed veru fast. The Hadamrd transform has the inverse transform therefore it is able to be applied into the watermarking technology. In embedding process, we select 10 coefficients from intermediate frequency domain and create two watermark patterns. In extraction process, we use the watermark patterns and compare them to detect the watermark information. When we use the standard image (
) and binary watermark image (
), the results of these examines are PSNR for
and BER for
. The JPEG QF between 30 and100, naked human eyes can detect to watermark image easily. The experimental results show that performance of Hadamard domain is better than those of DCT, FFT, and DWT.

Design of Database Integration System and Query System based on Global View Generation Tool
Park, U-Chang ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 65~74
Database integration is a common and growing challenge with the proliferation of database systems, data warehouses, data marts, and other OLAP systems in organizations. Although there are many methods of sharing data between databases, true interoperability of database integration system that improves in the database federation architecture by allowing domain administrators to simply and efficiently capture database semantics. The semantic information is combined using a tool for producing a global view. Building the global view is the bottleneck in integration because there are few tools that support its construction, and these tools often require sophisticated knowledge and experience to operate properly. The technique and tool presented is simple and powerful enough to be used by all database administrators, yet expressive enough to support the majority of integration queries.
Design and Evaluation of Flexible Thread Partitioning System
Jo, Sun-Moon ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 75~83
Multithreaded model is an effective parallel system in that it can reduce the long memory reference latency time and solve the synchronization problems. When compiling the non-strict functional programs for the multithreaded parallel machine, the most important thing is to find an set of sequentially executable instructions and to partitions them into threads. The existing partitioning algorithm partitions the condition of conditional expression, true expression and false expression into the basic blocks and apply local partitioning to these basic blocks. We can do the better partitioning if we modify the definition of the thread and allow the branching within the thread. The branching within the thread do not reduce the parallelism, do not increase the number of synchronization and do not violate the basic rule of the thread partitioning. On the contrary, it can lengthen the thread and reduce the number of synchronization. In the paper, we enhance the method of the partition of threads by combining the three basic blocks into one of two blocks.

Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 85~98
In distributed computing paradigm, mobile surrogate systems have not gained wide acceptance because of security concerns that have not been suitably addressed yet. Currently even the widely used Grid middleware, Globus, does not have a host authentication mechanism, which makes it hard to provide high performance Grid computing capabilities to mobile clients. In this paper, a mobile Grid service framework is designed and implemented in order to provide Grid services to mobile host such as PDA. The surrogate host-based system allows mobile hosts to be provided with Grid services while moving. The implemented mobile Grid services system has been applied to mobile healthcare system which utilizes Grid computing for ECG signal processing. The presented system framework can be used as a secure enterprise mobile healthcare system for hospital physicians.

Son, Chang-Sik ; Kim, Doo-Ywan ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 109~118
This paper proposed a method that can be simply analyzed instead of the basic general Fuzzy rule that its insufficient characters are cut out. Based on the proposed method. Rough sets are used to eliminate the incomplete attributes included in the rule and also for a classification more precise; the agreement of the membership function's output extracted the maximum attributes. Besides, the proposed method in the simulation shows that in order to verify the validity, compare the max-product result of fuzzy before and after reducing rule hosed on the rice taste data; then, we can see that both the max-product result of fuzzy before and after reducing rule are exactly the same; for a verification more objective, we compared the defuzzificated real number section.

Kim, Hye-Jeong ; Lee, Kyoung-Mi ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 119~129
To recognition a human motion, in this paper, we propose a neural approach using silhouettes in video frames captured by two cameras placed at the front and side of the human body. To extract features of the silhouettes for motion estimation, the proposed system computes both global and local features and then groups these features into static and dynamic features depending on whether features are in a static frame. Extracted features are in a static frame. Extracted features are used to train a RBF network. The neural system uses static features as the input of the neural network and dynamic features as additional features for recognition. In this paper, the proposed method was applied to movement education for young children. The basic movements for such education consist of locomotor movements, such as walking, jumping, and hopping, and non-locomotor movements, including bending, stretching, balancing and turning. The system demonstrated the effectiveness of motion recognition for movement education generated by the proposed neural network. The proposed system dan be extended to the system for movement education which develops the spatial sense of young children.

Mateo, Romeo Mark A. ; Lee, Jae-Wan ;
Journal of Internet Computing and Services, volume 8, issue 3, 2007, Pages 131~143
The current trends in information technology and intelligent systems use data mining techniques to discover patterns and extract rules from distributed databases. In distributed environment, the extracted rules from data mining techniques can be used in dynamic replications, adaptive load balancing and other schemes. However, transmission of large data through the system can cause errors and unreliable results. This paper proposes the intelligent distributed platform based on dynamic group binding using mobile agents which addresses the use of intelligence in distributed environment. The proposed grouping service implements classification scheme of objects. Data compressor agent and data miner agent extracts rules and compresses data, respectively, from the service node databases. The proposed algorithm performs preprocessing where it merges the less frequent dataset using neuro-fuzzy classifier before sending the data. Object group classification, data mining the service node database, data compression method, and rule extraction were simulated. Result of experiments in efficient data compression and reliable rule extraction shows that the proposed algorithm has better performance compared to other methods.
