Internet Management System for an Intelligent Remote Control and Monitoring

Nowaday in the ubiquitous environment, the real-time remote control and monitoring technology for power grids or a similar system provides service as a sharable and independent of time-location for various contents to get from sensors or cameras of the system. In this paper, we introduce the real-time monitor and control system for photovoltaic system to evaluate the system performance and to keep the maintenance by using IMS (Internet Management System). To prove the pragmatic use of IMS, we applied the IMS in water management system. We designed feasibly to control on remote site by web-browser. It guarantees a continuity of real-time information transferring by IMS.
Home Network Application using Android Mobile Platform

Recently, there are many home network applications using the convergence between mobile platforms and home network system. As smart phones which are called small PC in the hand becoming popular, the development of home network application beyond the one of cellular phones is required. Android mobile platform of Google includes OS, middleware and primary applications. Also, in addition to smart phones, it can be mounted on various devices such as set-top box and household appliances. In this paper, home network services on smart phones of Android platform are designed and implemented. The services provide real-time monitoring information (temperature, humidity, real-time video) of rooms and appliance control in a house.
Design and Implementation of BAN System using ECG Sensor based on Smartphone

As the services of ubiquitous environment has become accessible everywhere, it has been developed in various fields. Additionally interests in the u-Healthcare has sharply increased. In this paper, the BAN (Body Area Network) has been applied through ECG sensor and Zigbee communication of the existing ubiquitous sensor network environment to measure one's vital signs. The measured vital signs were then implemented in a system that enabled doctors and specialists to monitor by using 3G(WCDMA) communication. Furthermore, a location search device has been designed using the Smartphone's GPS modules to locate patients in the case of an emergency. The data field definition and designed system was based on the Smartphone's iPhone platform which has been in the spotlight for the previous months.
Smartphone Controller System using 3-D Acceleration Sensor

Recently, as the number of people using Smartphones increased, several researches has been launched basing it's subject on this issue. In this circumstance, the fusion of sensor technologies and Smartphone offers a variety of functions. The system introduced in the current paper uses a controller which extracts information about accelerating movements of an user. This information is then sent to the Smartphone through Bluetooth communication. The input method proposed in this paper differs from the existing methods such as touch typing or button input in Smartphones. It rather uses the 3-D acceleration sensor which enables users to control their Smartphone anywhere and anytime without directly touching the device. Furthermore, because it is developed for various applications, it can be applied in many different fields.
Design and Implementation of SOA based S/W Services for Dynamic Behavior of Embedded System

As the nature of the embedded system, it is operated by user specified requirements, the dynamic action(behavior) is needed when the user's requirements change or unexpected situations occur. In this paper, it is proposed that design and implementation of SOA(Service-oriented architecture) based S/W services for dynamic behavior of embedded System. In this proposed technique, the status of embedded system can be checked through Web services, and in the cases of exceptional situations, the required proper actions can be newly updated through Web services. Through this technique, the burden of users concerning exceptional situations can be reduced, and the convenience of use can increased as well.
Healthcare Application Modeling Using Smartphone

Recently, The medical services make use mobile healthcare system to transmit patient information on wireless environment. But It is difficult to satisfied for specified patient to send message, and it's not sufficient healthcare system to help regular treatment for example a diabetic or a pregnant woman. Thus, this paper proposes an healthcare scheduling application which manages a pregnant woman pregnant-checking, fetal movement sensing, antenatal training and promotion of health information using networking, data transmission method and application framwork of WPAN concepts.
Design and Implementation of a ZigBee Nework-based Integrated AFCI

In this paper, a new type of integrated AFCI is designed and implemented by combining individual circuit breaker characteristics, which can effectively detect arc fault signals in real-time. The proposed integrated AFCI satisfies the UL1699, the USA certification standard, and the Korean circuit breaker standards such as KS C4613 and KS C8321. Data signals are transferred to the management server via ZigBee network to analyze dangerous factors and to prevent unwanted trip. It is also shown by experiments that arc fault signals are detected and analyzed by using the integrated AFCI with ZigBee networks.
Study on Performance Improvement of VLC Modulation Scheme Based on Color Space

In this paper, we propose the symbol decision method considering the non-uniformity in color space and analyze the BER performance of modulation scheme based on color space, comparing with the conventional WDM scheme based on light intensity. Through numerical simulation, we show the BER performance superiority under the condition of AWGN and common mode noise.
Wireless Sensor Network based Remote Power Monitoring System for Anti Islanding application in Smart-Grid

Renewable energy and smart grid become the focus of attention of industry. The smart grid is an intelligent system which maximizes the efficiency of energy and it needs to monitor the amount of power generation and power consumption continuously. Remote Monitoring System(RMS) is very useful for monitoring the power generation and consumption, but mostly they are implemented on the wire communication. In this paper, we propose a wireless sensor network based remote power monitoring system. And as an application, a new anti-islanding method with the proposed RMS is presented. An experimental micro grid system is implemented to verify the proposed RMS and anti-islanding method.
The Study for Privacy Trust Zone of Smart Monitoring in Mobile Environment

Mobile devices like iphone, ipad, kindle, and PDA are used as everyday tool. In the mobile environment, smart phones and other mobile units are also used as a tool for protection or infringement of personal information. Therefore, smart monitoring technology is required to protect personal information and privacy. On the other hand, with smart phones and the mobile environment, diverse application technologies are realized on hardware and software platforms. Therefore, this paper designs the network structure that forms privacy trust zone, and based on this, deals with the monitoring and monitoring prevention system with a focus on CCTV, through which this paper proposes a system that provides privacy trust zone information and its utilization which is capable of smart monitoring.
Implementation of a ZigBee-based High Performance Sensor Node for the Robot Environment Platform

In this paper, a ZigBee-based wireless sensor network is configured for the robot to effectively communicate with the environment platform where sensor nodes are implemented using high performance microcontrollers. The localization and the navigation functions are also required to the robot which performs the given task using various types of sensor information. A new type of ZigBee stack is developed using the RUM(Router Under MAC) of the Atmel Corp. and it is applied to a 32-bit ARM core microcontroller for the high performance sensor data manipulation and transmission. It is verified by experiments that the wireless sensor network consisting of developed high performance sensor nodes can be effectively used for the robot environment platform.
Development of the Fishbot Using Haptic Technology

In this paper, a haptic fishing robot, Fishbot, for a Virtual Fishing System is presented. Fishbot is 3DOF robot and it consists of a XY table and a wheel motor. To simulate the motion of fish, XY table is controlled by position servo drivers with variable torque constraint, and wheel axis is controlled by torque servo driver. Finally, Fishibot detects the end point of fishing pole with cameras to recognize the pose of user, and it can interface with a Virtual Reality System.
A Study on the Implementation of Multi-touch model using a Haptic Device in Virtual Reality

In this paper, we use VR technologies including touch processing technologies and haptic devices to offer touch of fish objects to users. The Omni, a kind of haptic device and made by Sensable Inc., is used to implement multi touch model in VR space. In addition, Matlab/Simulink and proSENSE Virtual Touch Toolbox of Handshake Inc., are used as programing tools. Functions needed to describe the movement of x, y, and z axis respectively are applied to delineate the natural movement of fish objects modeled with 3D. Such movements offer realistic physical interactions to two users controlling multi point respectively. In experiment, to perceive the appearance of 3D object by touch and to feel the respiration by touch are well conducted. We also verify that it is possible to develop games or contents through multi participation in VR Space by using multi point.
Development of Network based Remote Surveillance System Using Omni-Directional Mobile Robot

This paper describes a development of an network based remote surveillance system using omni-directional mobile robot. the proposed surveillance system can control a mobile robot to move and examines the given place closely while the conventional surveillance system uses a fixed camera. The mobile robot in the proposed system has three omni-directional wheels to move to any given direction freely. We also developed the proposed system as robot services using Microsoft's MSRDS for a user to control the mobile robot and monitor the remote scene captured from the robot. Finally we verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system by conducting the remote operating the mobile robot and monitoring experiments in a networked environment. We also conducted a color based object detection and motion detection on image sequences acquired from a remote mobile robot in an another PC in a network environment.
Design of Internet Traffic Monitoring System Using TCP/IP

We introduce Internet TCP/IP control system to monitor the traffic volume on the traffic network system. To check the traffic volume on traffic road, we use the traffic detector system shppe of circle or diamond or rectangular. Nevertheless we use traffic detector, we will use internet addressin TCP/IP system. If we use TCP/IP control system, we acquire many good point, we achive high sircurity and low costness traffic monitoring system coming difficulty and high level position. But internet system is very easy and low cost direction. Traffic control system is very more depending on the high techinquesion and very complexity. Therefore we introducing TCP/IP internet addressing control system schemetic point.
A 1.485 Gbps Wireless Video Signal Transmission System at 240 GHz

In this paper, a 1.485 Gbps video signal transmission system using the carrier frequency of 240 GHz band was designed and simulated. The sub-harmonic mixer based on Schottky barrier diode was simulated in the transmitter and receiver. Both of heterodyne and direct detection receivers were simulated for each performance analysis. The ASK modulation was used in the transmitter and the envelop detection method was used in the receiver. The transmitter simulation results showed that the RF output power was -11.4 dBm(
), when the IF input power was -3 dBm(0.5 mW) at the LO power of 7 dBm(5 mW) in sub-harmonic mixer, which corresponds to SSB(Single Side Band) conversion loss of 8.4 dB. This value is similar to the conversion loss of 8.0 dB(SSB) of VDI's commercial model WR3.4SHM(220~325 GHz) at 240 GHz. The combined transmitter and receiver simulation results showed that the recovered signal waveforms were in good agreement to the transmitted 1.485 Gbps NRZ signal.
PDA System for Maximizing the Efficiency of Smart Pallet Based Rarts Delivery System

Products companies, which manufactures finished goods with modular parts, will expect that the proper parts should be delivered to assembly line not only just in time (JIT) but also just in sequence (JIS) and also expect that faulty goods will not be produced due to the delivery of wrong parts. In order to satisfy the above requirements, recently Smart Pallet based Parts Delivery system (SPPD) was proposed. SPPD system can overcome the drawback of bar code based part delivery system in which much time for checking proper and in sequence parts is wasted due to labors' working in hand as well as the drawback of RFID based part delivery system in which recognition distance of RFID is very limited. In the paper, a PDA system is proposed and further implemented to maximize the efficiency of SPPD's operation as well as to manage the limited power of smart pallets efficiently.
A Development of the Optimized Shielding Room Design Simulator for HEMP Protection

Regarding HEMP has been studied as few thousand of paper by major nuclear bomb holding countries with USA for the self protection against nuclear bomb attract. Major HEMP protection facilities are consist of the shielding, filtering, grounding and high voltage protection circuits. Shielding room construction required a highest cost among the key protective facilities. Most of a theoretical formulas listed on the paper and related books has a little correlations in the certain frequency band between the theoretical formulas and field measuring results. For the reasons we proposed the advanced new theoretical formulas and developed the computer simulation S/W as enough as apply to the cost effective shielding room design for HEMP considering the various structural constants.
Development of 36[W] LED Fixtures for the Broadcasting Spot Lighting

A study on that LED in 36[W] class replaces broadcast illuminator to save energy and improve the quality of film because tungsten halogen illuminators are too hot and spending lots of electrical capacity at the time of camera shooting. And the following result was obtained .36[w] LED lighting fixture's illuminance is lower than 1[kw] halogen Light but object's illuminance became higher, and at the image be showed very bright and softly.
The Comparison of the Adaptive Equalization Performance in MCMA Algorithm by the Weighting Factor

This paper deals with the performance comparison of self adaptive equalizer by the weighting factor of MCMA cost function for the compensate the amplitude and phase distortion which occurs in the communication channel. The MCMA is improves the cost function of present CMA at the output of equalizer for the minimize of error function in the amplitude and phase, the value of weighting factor is used at this time. When the comparison of equalizer performance, we classified to initial state and steady state, then it represents the convergence time and convergence speed and steady state operation of equalizer to the predetermined level, it is determined by the weighting factor. We confirm to the different result to this 2 state by weighting factor values using computer simulation. By using the result of this paper, if we appropriately choose the weighting factor values in the environment of communication channel, it is expected that the high quality digital transmission is possible.
Channel Capacity of Additional Data Transmission System for Spectrum Efficiency Improvement

In this paper, we propose additional data transmission system for spectrum efficiency improvement and derive channel capacity formula as a approximated closed-form. Spread spectrum watermarking scheme is selected for the watermarking embedder. Nakagami-q (Hoyt) model is considered as a multipath fading channel. Numerical results show the channel capacity variation of the proposed system in wireless fading channel. From the results, we confirm that the channel capacity of the watermarking system is affected by the fading coefficient and system parameters such that host sampling frequency, host-to-watermark ratio, watermark-to-noise ratio, and PN sequence length.
Performance of Single Frequency Network for DVB-H System

In this paper, several computer simulations are investigated to confirm the DVB-H system performance and to find proper single frequency network cell coverage. From the result, we confirm that 2K mode transmission is more robust to Doppler frequency than 8K mode. The result of this paper can be partially applied to the design the single frequency network.
On-line Reinforcement Learning for Cart-pole Balancing Problem

The cart-pole balancing problem is a pseudo-standard benchmark problem from the field of control methods including genetic algorithms, artificial neural networks, and reinforcement learning. In this paper, we propose a novel approach by using online reinforcement learning(OREL) to solve this cart-pole balancing problem. The objective is to analyze the learning method of the OREL learning system in the cart-pole balancing problem. Through experiment, we can see that approximate faster the optimal value-function than Q-learning.
Two-way Relay Communication with Pre-cancellation over Multi-hop Relay Network

In this paper, we propose novel two-way relaying scheme in which number of two users transmit the signal to number of two destination. The scheme is difference with conventional multi-hop two-way relay scheme in which number of two users exchange the each signal. In the conventional scheme, each user have to perform back-propagating self-interference method to remove the own signal from received signal. It occurred to increase the complexity for signal processing at the user. To overcome the problem, we apply the Pre-cancellation which can reduce the process of back-propagating self-interference to our proposal network Simulation result show that proposal scheme outperform the convention multi-hop two-way relay scheme. Also we analysis the trad-off between performance and complexity accordance with using Pre-cancellation method.
Performance of LED-ID System for Home Networking Applicaion

We propose a Z-HBT line coding for a LED-ID system. Z-HBT line coding is defined as follows. First, we apply half bit transition to one bit. Second, we decode encoded bits using difference of bit transition level in one bit duration. As a result, we obtain advantages about synchronization problem and noise effect mitigation at the receiver. We set up outdoor the LED-ID simulation environment. At simulation results, we show 2-3dB gain as compared with existing line coding schemes. The results of the paper can be applied to design and implementation of LED-ID systems for indoor wireless multimedia services.
A Study on Analyzing Caption Characteristic for Recovering Original Images of Caption Region in TV Scene

Research on recovering original images from captions has been widely done in a reusability point of view. In usual, dynamic images imported from foreign countries often have captions of foreign languages, so it is necessary to translate them into one's language. For the natural exchange of captions without loss of original images, recovering the images corresponding to captions is necessary. However, though recovering original images is very important, systematic analysis on the characteristics of captions has not been done yet. Therefore, in this paper, we first survey the classification methods of TV programs at academic worlds, broadcasting stations, and broadcasting organizations, and then analyses the frequency of captions, importance of caption contents, and necessity of recovering according to their types. Also, we analyze the characteristics of captions which are significantly recognized to be necessary to recover, and use them as recovering information.
Performance of Turbo Coded OFDM Systems in W-CDMA Wireless Communication Channel

In the recent digital communication systems, the performance of Turbo Code used as the error correction coding method depends on the interleaver size influencing the free distance determination and the iterative decoding algorithms of the turbo decoder. However, some iterations are needed to get a better performance, but these processes require a large time delay. Recently methods of reducing the number of iteration have been studied without degrading original performance. In this paper, the new method of combining ME (Mean Estimate) stopping criterion with SDR (sign difference ratio) stopping criterion among previous stopping criteria is proposed, and the fact of compensating each method's missed detection is verified. Faster decoding is realized that about 1~2 time iterations to reduced through adopting this method into serially concatenated both decoders. System Environments were assumed W-CDMA forward link system with intense MAI (multiple access interference).
A Study on PLL Design for Ultra Wideband

In this paper, we have introduced a new way to have low phase noise PLL of the Ultra wideband to meet performance requirements. Before development of the PLL, we simulated spectrum power, phase noise by using ADS. Finally, we confirm a satisfying result between required standard and measured value.
A study on the Phase Noise Performance of CATV Transmission System

Recently, the transmission amount of information that each single person requires is growing by development of electron information communication technology. So in this paper we analysis the phase noise characteristics to obtain a most suitable of SNR performance request characteristic by BER on CATV transmission system that satisfy performance request DOCSIS 2.0 standard. Especially we get the parameter value of PLL that satisfy phase noise characteristic request standard using developed simulator. Presented method can be used to obtain a performance request standard connection performance request standard of high speed CATV transmission system in the future.
