Design of Data Transmission Corrugated Horn Antenna for RF Sensor Satellite System

In this paper, data transmission corrugated horn antenna for RF sensor satellite system and its radiation characteristic are presented. The proposed antenna is designed, fabricated and measured to obtain the maximum gain at
of its radiation patterns. The result of the proposed antenna is that the return loss is less than -15 dB and the gain is over 5 dBi at
of its radiation patterns. From these results, it is confirmed that the proposed can be used as data transmission corrugated horn antenna for RF sensor satellite system.
Design of Square Patch Reflectarray Antenna with U-type Slot

The microstrip reflectarray antenna is rapidly becoming an attractive alternative solution to the traditional parabolic reflector antenna. However, the bandwidth of the microstrip reflectarray using the single layer structure is very narrow. To obtain wide bandwidth characteristic, the microstrip reflectarray using the multi-layer structure has been used, but it has some disadvantages such as high cost and complicated design. In this paper, to obtain low cost and wide bandwidth, the microstrip reflectarray antenna composed of square patch with two U-slots using the single-layer structure is proposed. The proposed antenna demonstrate radiation efficiency closed to 55.5 % and 1 dB gain bandwidth over 14 % at 12.5 GHz.
Performance of Interference Cancellation Scheme for Multihop Military Communication Systems

In this paper, we analyze co-channel interference cancellation performance to be generated in multi-hop military communication system. First, remove interference using zero-forcing (ZF) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) scheme as interference cancellation methods, and then obtain additional diversity gain and improve interference cancellation performance by applying successive interference cancellation (SIC). We consider Rayleigh fading channel and system performance is analyzed as respect of bit error probability. From simulation results, we confirm MMSE improves significantly BER performance than ZF in multi-hop wireless network environment. It is also confirmed ZF and MMSE schemes applying SIC algorithm have better performance comparing to the existing schemes. Therefore, MMSE-SIC method can provide more reliable signal transmission in the multi-hop military communication system.
A RSS-Based Localization Method Utilizing Robust Statistics for Wireless Sensor Networks under Non-Gaussian Noise

In the wireless sensor network(WSN), the detection of precise location of sensor nodes is essential for efficiently utilizing the sensing data acquired from sensor nodes. Among various location methods, the received signal strength (RSS) based localization scheme is mostly preferable in many applications since it can be easily implemented without any additional hardware cost. Since the RSS localization method is mainly effected by radio channel between two nodes, outlier data can be included in the received signal strength measurement specially when some obstacles move around the link between nodes. The outlier data can have bad effect on estimating the distance between two nodes such that it can cause location errors. In this paper, we propose a RSS-based localization method using Robust Statistic and Gaussian filter algorithm for enhancing the accuracy of RSS-based localization. In the proposed algorithm, the outlier data can be eliminated from samples by using the Robust Statistics as well as the Gaussian filter such that the accuracy of localization can be achieved. Through simulation, it is shown that the proposed algorithm can increase the accuracy of localization and is more robust to non gaussian noise channels.
A Mesh Scheme for Efficient Multicast Service in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks

In this paper, we propose an evenly distributed mesh scheme to support services in mobile ad-hoc networks. Two strategies, the adaptive upgrading of forwarding nodes and the adaptive downgrading of forwarding nodes, are presented in the scheme. Our proposed scheme can support construction of better multicast mesh that can give higher packet delivery ratio with lower duplicate data as well as solve the problem of serious congestion especially when node mobility and data transmission rate are high in mobile ad-hoc networks. The performance evaluation is performed via simulation using OPNET.
The Tire Damage Classification by Pulse Interval Time Density Function of Ultrasonic Wave Envelope on Driving

The tire damage classification method is researched by periodicity detection of ultrasonic envelope signals to occur at the driving vehicle tire. Because periodic signals is generated by rotations of the damaged tire, it should convert to pulse for using the density function. After time intervals of pulses are represented by the density function, the dominant periodicity is detected. The threshold to make a pulse is calculated by moving average of envelope signals. The result of time density function in case of one damage material, the first peak's time is equals to tire's rotation period, 162ms and 102ms, about the speed of 50km/h and 80km/h. In case of more than one damage material, the sum of each peak's time is equals to tire's rotation period about the speed.
Power Splitting of Plasmonic Directional Couplers with Nano-scale Three Channels

Directional couplers based on plasmonic waveguides with nano-scale three channels are designed by utilizing mode coupling effect as well as rib-guiding structure. Longitudinal modal transmission-line theory(L-MTLT) is used for simulating the light propagation and optimizing the design parameters. The designed plasmonic coupler operating as power splitter has nano-scale size of about 200~250 nm width. In order to achieve the desired power splitting ratio, the refractive index of guiding modes is evaluated along the width variation of center channel. Finally, a power splitter based on triple rib directional coupler, which ensures maximum power transfer from one outermost guide to the other outermost guide, is designed.
Optimal Relay Position of Hybrid ARQ Incremental Cooperative Relaying Scheme with Limited Feedback

Recently, MIMO technology, which can improve data rate, link reliability and diversity order, has been widely studied. However, due to the limitation of size, cost and complexity, it is difficult to equip multiple antennas in mobile devices. To overcome this problem, the cooperative communication scheme has been proposed. In this scheme, each terminal shares its single antenna to form a virtual MIMO environment. However, in conventional cooperative scheme, e.g, decode-and-forward, amplify and forward, the spectral efficiency is decreased if there are many terminals taking part in the cooperation. Therefore, the incremental relaying scheme has been proposed to solve this problem. In this paper, we consider various models using incremental relaying technique. In addition, the position of relay is investigated in order to obtain optimal performance.

Cooperative Communication using relays which include network separated into fixed cooperative relaying and incremental cooperative relaying defending on method receiving signal from a source. If some nodes included network is Primary user ad source and destination, another is Secondary user as relay, The nodes included network excepting source can help PU transmit signal. Implementation of Appliance Control System Using Smart Phone

With the rapid increase of recent smart phone diffusion, the convergences of home network environments and intelligent home appliances such as digital TV, internet refrigerator, DVD, digital video, communication appliance using a smart phone are highly focussed and become the recent trends in IT industry. In this paper, we design and implement home appliance control system based on the smart phone(Android) network environments. Through several experiments using Android smart phone, we confirmed that the proposed system can control and monitor indoor home appliances conveniently anywhere and anytime from outdoor.
Shape Recognition of 3-D Protein Molecules Using Feature and Pocket Points

Protein molecules are combined with another ones which have similar shapes at pocket positions. The pocket positions can be good references to describe the shapes of protein molecules. Harris corner detector is commonly used to detect feature points of 2 or 3D objects. Feature points can be found on the pocket areas and the points which have high derivatives. Generally speaking, the densities of feature points are relatively high at pocket areas because the shapes of pockets are concave. The pocket areas can be decided by the subdivision of voxel cubes which include feature points. The Euclidean distances between feature points and the central coordinate of the decided pocket area are calculated and sorted. The graph of sorted distances describes the shape of a protein molecule and the distribution of feature points. Therefore, it can be used to classify protein molecules by their shapes. Even though the shapes of protein molecules have been distorted with noises, they can be recognized with the accuracy more than 95 %. The accurate shape recognition provides the information to predict the binding properties of protein molecules.
Development of a 3D Object Recognition Component for OPRoS

Recently, many researchers in the world are concentrated to develop the robot platform which is to reduce the developing cost by reusing existing softwares. In this paper, we describe that the 3 dimension recognition object components for OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Services) which is developed in Korea. We present that the structure of the component, disparity map and depth map algorithm for recognizing 3 dimension space. We used stereo matching and block matching method to produce the disparity map. We test the component on the computer with OPRoS platform and show the results of accuracy and performance time.
Game-type Recognition Rehabilitation System based on Augmented Reality through Object Understanding

In this paper, we propose a game type cognitive rehabilitation system using marker-based augmented reality system for intelligence development of user. Existing cognitive rehabilitation with the help of others, or a keyboard or mouse operation required to relieve the discomfort, the marker card only control it led and is advanced the method which it applied. As a result, obtained through the camera calibration for image processing, and a Augmented Reality as well as mark detection. In this paper we presented a complete rotation of the model after checking through the whole form, through a combination of multiple markers by completing the interactive objects proceed with the rehabilitation process in a manner required by the target of interest to human rehabilitation and treatment.
A Development of Protable Mesh Network Gateway for Disaster Relief

Typically, quick and easily deployed communication for a clear disaster management is required in a disaster situation. But it is not easy because lack of backbone network and poor conditions of disaster site. it is possible to obtain a wide service coverage and low power with portable wireless mesh network technology. In this paper, we developed portable wireless mesh network gateway with a network processor and evaluate it's performance including throughput, latency delay, packet loss, etc. The experiments show our wireless mesh network gateway has basic performance and can be used in various environments like disaster site.
The Performance Improvement of CMA Adaptive Equalization in 16-QAM Signal using the Coordinate Reduction

This paper is concerned with the CR-CMA (Coordinate Reduction-Constant Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm using the coordinate reduction in order to improve the convergence characteristic and residual intersymbol interference which are used as the performance index for an adaptive equalizer. The equalizer is used to reduce the distortion caused by the intersymbol interference on the wireless and the wired band-limited channel that connect the transmitting system and receiving system. The CMA is widely known as the representative algorithm for equalization. In order to transmitting the mass information with a high speed through the channels, a fast convergence speed in the equalizer performance that is able to minimize overhead needed for equalization is acquired. In this paper, we introduce the new cost function to reduce the constellation of received signal at the input stage of a equalizer. It reduce the error at the steady equalization state. By the computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed CR-CMA algorithm has the faster convergence speed and the smaller residual intersymbole interference than the conventional CMA.
The Performance Comparison of CR-CMA and CM-CMA Adaptive Equalization in 16-QAM Signal

This paper is concerned with the performance comparison of CR-CMA (Coordinate Reduction-CMA) and CM-CMA (Constellation Matching-Constant Modulus Algorithm) that is used for improving the convergence characteristic and residual intersymbol interference which are used as the performance index for an adaptive equalizer. The equalizer is used to reduce the distortion caused by the intersymbol interference on the wireless and the wired band-limited channel, and the blind method which does not need for extra bandwidth by the training sequence of digital code are researched. Recently, by using the merit of simple operation in the CMA, the performance improvement is obtained by the modifying the cost function of it. In this paper, the new algorithm, CR-CMA and CM-CMA, the performance analysis are performed and compared by computer simulation. The CR-CMA has a superior equalization characteristics in the recovered constellation, convergence speed and residual intersymbol interference than the CM-CMA by computer simulation.
A Study on the Data Frame Length and Repetitive Transmission for IP Local Broadcasting

As the number of users of smart phone and smart pad are increasing, the deployment of WiFi APs has been accelerated. Also Internet local broadcasting service will be activated near future. But transmission error is the critical problem, due to the one-way transmission of the data to the receivers. In this paper, FER is analysed according to BER and frame length, and repetitive transmission technique is proposed to reduce the effective FER.
2D to 3D Conversion Using The Machine Learning-Based Segmentation And Optical Flow

In this paper, we propose the algorithm using optical flow and machine learning-based segmentation for the 3D conversion of 2D video. For the segmentation allowing the successful 3D conversion, we design a new energy function, where color/texture features are included through machine learning method and the optical flow is also introduced in order to focus on the regions with the motion. The depth map are then calculated according to the optical flow of segmented regions, and left/right images for the 3D conversion are produced. Experiment on various video shows that the proposed method yields the reliable segmentation result and depth map for the 3D conversion of 2D video.
Development of Digital Mileage Service System using Smart-Phone

Increasing users of smart phone and various marketing strategies activate lots of mobile mileage services recently. Such a mileage service is a typical marketing service to increase brand loyalty of clients and maximize purchase motivation. However, traditional offline mileage services introduce discomfort that users have to carry lots of mileage cards physically. Also, in case of using digital mobile mileage service, users have to search specific card to use from lots of digital cards stored in his mobile device. In this paper, to solve the problems, we design and develop a mobile mileage service system that especially discover a proper card automatically based on location information of user.
User Performance Measures for iTV Remote Control of Pointing Devices

In this study, we assessed the performance of the test remote pointing device that is applicable to interactive TV (iTV). An empirical test was carried out with the pointing devices in three different interface methods that are recently tried in the industry. For the measurement, a directional task was performed on the linear track described in the conventional ISO 9241-Part 9. The measured variables included the movement time, accuracy, throughput and the subjective satisfaction. The result showed that the motion time was better in the device in the GyroPoint method than the other devices, but the accuracy of the GyroPoint device was lower than that of the devices in the Hall Mouse and OFN methods. It was found that the throughput and the subjective satisfaction were dependent upon the individual input devices. Since this study was conducted on the major point devices that are currently tried and analyzed the problems and characteristics, it is assumed that this study will provide useful data for the design of the remote pointing device that is more suitable to the iTV environment.
An Implementation of Pan-So-Ri Classification Program Using Naive Bayesian Classifier

Pan-So-Ri singing a story as song is one of Korea traditional musics. it divide into two sect(east-sect, west-sect), and it is hard to classify two sect without knowledge about Pan-So-Ri. In this paper, we have propose a Pan-So-Ri classification program using PCD(Pitch Class Distribution) and Naive Bayesian Classifier. Attribute value of classifier is each appearance frequency of pitch. Experiment is conducted two time with different rounding off location of probability value. Better one show correct classification with east-sect 80%, west-sect 97%, and total accuracy of 88%. this result is used our program.

This paper provides the performance measurement and analysis of Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11 in a mobile environment. The performances of IEEE802.11b/g and IEEE802.11p designed for Vehicle-to-Vehicle(V2V) communication are measured and analyzed. Diameter of communication and link access time are compared under variation of speed of the vehicle.
Bus Information System based on Smart-Phone Apps using GPS Information

This paper provides Bus Information System(BIS) implementation based on the Smart-phone APPs using GPS information. Nearly all of recent smart-phones are equipped with the GPS feature. Bus driver's smart-phone can send the position information using its GPS information periodically and on events. On receiving those information, servers can process those into the information that can be used by individual users and bus stop information panel. The proposed BIS based on smart-phone APPs is expected to be used publicly with the special process that enables the smart-phone APPs only in the specific bus.
A study on Voice Recognition using Model Adaptation HMM for Mobile Environment

In this paper, we propose the MA(Model Adaption) HMM that to use speech enhancement and feature compensation. Normally voice reference data is not consider for real noise data. This method is not to use estimated noise but we use real life environment noise data. And we applied this contaminated data for recognition reference model that suitable for noise environment. MAHMM is combined with surround noise when generating reference patten. We improved voice recognition rate at mobile environment to use MAHMM.
Design and Evaluation of a Weighted Intrusion Detection Method for VANETs

With the rapid proliferation of wireless networks and mobile computing applications, the landscape of the network security has greatly changed recently. Especially, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks maintaining network topology with vehicle nodes of high mobility are self-organizing Peer-to-Peer networks that typically have short-lasting and unstable communication links. VANETs are formed with neither fixed infrastructure, centralized administration, nor dedicated routing equipment, and vehicle nodes are moving, joining and leaving the network with very high speed over time. So, VANET-security is very vulnerable for the intrusion of malicious and misbehaving nodes in the network, since VANETs are mostly open networks, allowing everyone connection without centralized control. In this paper, we propose a weighted intrusion detection method using rough set that can identify malicious behavior of vehicle node's activity and detect intrusions efficiently in VANETs. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by a simulation study in terms of intrusion detection rate and false alarm rate for the threshold of deviation number
