Efficient Buffer Management Scheme for Mitigating Possibility of DDoS Attack

DDoS attack is a malicious attempt to exhaust resources of target system and network capacities using lots of distributed zombi systems. DDoS attack introduced in early 2000 has being evolved over time and presented in a various form of attacks. This paper proposes a scheme to detect DDoS attacks and to reduce possibility of such attacks that are especially based on vulnerabilities presented by using control packets of existing network protocols. To cope with DDoS attacks, the proposed scheme utilizes a buffer management techniques commonly used for congestion control in Internet. Our scheme is not intended to detect DDoS attacks perfectly but to minimize possibility of overloading of internal system and to mitigate possibility of attacks by discarding control packets at the time of detecting DDoS attacks. In addition, the detection module of our scheme can adapt dynamically to instantly increasing traffic unlike previously proposed schemes.
Weight-based Congestion Control Algorithms for H.264/SVC Streaming

Because best-effort Internet provides no guarantees on packet delay and loss, transient network congestion may cause negative effects on H.264/SVC streaming. Thus, the congestion control is required to adjust bit rate by dropping enhancement layers of H.264/SVC streams. This paper differentiates the video streams according to different levels of importance and proposes weighted-based congestion control algorithms to use the rate-distortion characteristics of streams. To maximize the weighted sum of PSNR values of all streams on a bandwidth-constrained node, this paper proposes WNS(Weighted Near-Sighted) and WFS(Weighted Far-Sighted) algorithms to control the number of enhancement layers of streams. Through simulation, this paper shows that weighted-based congestion control algorithm can efficiently adapt streams to network conditions and analyzes the characteristics of congestion control algorithms.
Mobile Message Platform Supporting Dynamic Services based on Templates

Although message services in mobile environments provide real-time transfer of various contents such as text, multimedia and location, they can't provide dynamic message services based on analysis of message contents. This paper proposes "message as a service" concept and presents the design methodology for a message platform. The message in this paper is composed of the data part and template part which is in charge of view and functional logic of contents. In addition, two parts of a message are transferred separately. If a terminal device stores message templates, message platform can transfer data part only and thus network traffic can be reduced. Besides an efficient network utilization, we can dynamically update message view and its functional logic by modifying templates.

Nowadays, the problem of ETCS terminal in becoming popular gradually is that there is no services except for ETC. Therefore, we need new system that provide many type of additional services at one-terminal. In this paper, we study the additory function of ETCS terminal to afford many type of the vehicle administration beside collection and provider of traffic information. We descrived the method of Eco-driving function beside to save fuel signing instant and mean fuel-efficiency, measurement of section fuel-efficiency on OLED and then brings out the best driving habit in people and to prevent dangerous at the wheel as diagnosing engine oil, cooling water, fan belt, the point of changing consumables, diagnoses to an overheated engine, charges on generator through ECU. The multi-services terminal consist of the vehicle diagnosis module base on OBD-II and ETCS terminal.
Improving Reliability of the Last Level Cache with Low Energy and Low Area Overhead

Due to the technology scaling, more transistors can be placed on a cache memories of a processor. However, processors become more vulnerable to the soft error because of the highly integrated transistors, and consequently, the reliability of the cache memory must consider seriously at the design space level. In this paper, we propose the reliability improving technique which can be achieved with low energy and low area overheads. The simulation experiments of the proposed scheme shows over 95.4% of protection rate against the soft error with only 0.26% of performance degradations. Also, It requires only 2.96% of extra energy consumption.

This paper presents and analyzes laboratory test results of Interference Cancellation Digital On Channel Regenerative Repeater(IC-DOCR) to broadcast digital television signals in the Advanced Television Systems Committee(ATSC) transmission systems using single frequency networks(SFN). IC-DOCR laboratory test is classified to receiver test, transmitter test, and feedback interference cancellation test. The receiver part includes random noise, single echo, multi-path ensembles, and adjacent channel interference test. The transmitter part includes out-of channel emission, equality of transmitting signal, and phase noise test. By the laboratory test, the receiver part of the IC-DOCR eliminates 28dB of feedback signal higher than the received signal and has 17.8dB at TOV(Threshold Of Visibility) under random noise environment. Also, the transmitter part satisfies the specification of US FCC(Federal Communications Commission) as well as maintains good output signal quality for guaranteeing more than SNR 30dB.
Developing a Schedulable App for Switching to Silent Mode Using an Android phone

Smart phones are very convenient for communication, but you need to not to forget to change to silent mode when you go to church or cinema. Many people used to forget changing their cell phones to silent mode. In this paper, we have developed an android smart phone app. for automatic changing silent mode, which exploited smart phones' GPS and computing capability. According to the GPS location data and time, this app. will automatically change a cell phone to silent mode. We believe that this app. would provide us a lot of convenience.

Recommender Systems have gained much popularity among researchers and is applied in a number of applications. The exponential growth of users and products poses some key challenges for recommender systems. Recommender Systems mostly suffer from scalability and accuracy. The accuracy of Recommender system is somehow inversely proportional to its scalability. In this paper we proposed a Context Aware Hybrid Recommender System using matrix reduction for Hybrid model and clustering technique for predication of item features. In our approach we used user item-feature rating, User Demographic information and context information i.e. specific time and day to improve scalability and accuracy. Our Algorithm produce better results because we reduce the dimension of items features matrix by using different reduction techniques and use user demographic information, construct context aware hybrid user model, cluster the similar user offline, find the nearest neighbors, predict the item features and recommend the Top N- items.
New Re-ranking Technique based on Concept-Network Profiles for Personalized Web Search

This paper proposes a novel way of personalized web search through re-ranking the search results with user profiles of concept-network structure. Basically, personalized search systems need to be based on user profiles that contain users' search patterns, and they actively use the user profiles in order to expand initial queries or to re-rank the search results. The proposed method is a sort of a re-ranking personalized search method integrated with query expansion facility. The method identifies some documents which occur commonly among a set of different search results from the expanded queries, and re-ranks the search results by the degree of co-occurring. We show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional ones by performing the empirical web search with a number of actual users who have diverse information needs and query intents.
Simulation of Vacuum Characteristics by Applications of Vacuum Valves in Display Processing

Effect of valve conductance on performance of vacuum system was simulated for optimum design of vacuum system. In this investigation, the feasibility of modeling mechanism for VacSimMulti simulator was proposed. Application specific design of vacuum system is required to meet the particular process conditions for various industrial implementations of vacuum equipments. Geometry and length, diameter of vacuum valve were modeled as simulation modeling variables for conductance effects. Series vacuum system was modeled and simulated with varied dimensions and structures of exhaust valves. Variation of valve diameter showed the more significant effects on vacuum characteristics than that of pipeline length variations. It was also observed that the aperture structure of valve had the superior vacuum characteristics among the modeled systems.

In this paper, we develop the new gestures of screen control with fingers on the FTIR multi touch table. It also describes recognition of mobile devices on the table using infrared camera. The FTIR multi touch table was incovenient to the existiog Bluetooth connection, because it is not provided with an HID(Human Input Device) interface. The proposed data transmission method using mobile device is to relieve the inconvenience of the data transfer and proceed more effectively. The new gestures and data transmission method is verified by FTIR multi touch table that is implemented for testing.

As the influence of social networking services across the societies becomes greatly higher, many of the domestic agencies are trying to communicate with users through the introduction of social networking services. In this paper, we present a reliable exhibition-related contents recommendation service to combine social networking service concept with the customized contents recommendation method we previously proposed. The proposed service may effectively and reliably recommend its users exhibition-related contents by exploiting their relationships in the social networks compared with the existing ones.

The population growth along with the urbanization, has caused more problems in many public areas, such as subway airport terminals, hospital, etc. Many surveillance systems have been installed in the public areas, but not all of those can be monitored in real-time, because the operators that observe the monitors are very small compared with the number of the monitors. For example, the observer can miss some crucial accidents or detect after considerable delays. Thus, intelligent surveillance system for preventing the accidents are needed, such as Intelligent Surveillance Systems. in this paper, we propose a new crowd density estimation method which aims at estimating moving crowd using images from surveillance cameras situated in outdoor locations. The moving crowd is estimated from the area where using optical flow. The edge information is also used as feature to measure the crowd density, so we improve the accuracy of estimation of crowd density. A multilayer neural network is designed to classify crowd density into 5 classes. Finally the proposed method is experimented with PETS 2009 images.
Design of a Middleware for Android-based Smart Phone Applications

With the rapid growth of smart phone technologies, mobile user's demands for using services provided by existing web or portal cites are highly increased. These services, however, are designed for the environment of desktop PCs or laptops in general, so it requires lots of costs for corrections and has difficulties for system protection to use in current mobile devices. In this paper, we design and implement a middleware for android-based smart phone apps to cooperate with a portal system with minimum corrections and function configuration. Our middleware system is working as an interface between an existing portal system and mobile devices to provide harmonious usage and safe system protection.
Implementation of a 3D Recognition applying Depth map and HMM

Recently, we used to recognize for human motions with some recognition algorithms. examples, HMM, DTW, PCA etc. In many human motions, we concentrated our research on recognizing fighting motions. In previous work, to obtain the fighting motion data, we used motion capture system which is developed with some active markers and infrared rays cameras and 3 dimension information converting algorithms by the stereo matching method. In this paper, we describe that the different method to acquiring 3 dimension fighting motion data and a HMM algorithm to recognize the data. One of the obtaining 3d data we used is depth map algorithm which is calculated by a stereo method. We test the 3d acquiring and the motion recognition system, and show the results of accuracy and performance results.
Advanced-CMA Blind Equalizer by Improvement of the RCA Cost Function

In this paper, the concerned CMA (Constant Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalizer convergence rate and residual inter-symbol interference using cost function in order to improved to the ACMA (Advanced CMA). The CMA method compensates amplitude but does not compensate phase. On the other hand, The RCA (Reduced Constellation Algorithm) method compensates both the amplitude and the phase but it has the convergence rate problem. MCMA method is a way to solve the phase problem of CMA method compensates both the amplitude and the phase after respectively calculating the real and imaginary components. But it is more than poor CMA method in the complexity of hardware and the compensation performance. The cost function can advantages by improving the CMA and a MCMA (Modified CMA) equalizer so that the amplitude and phase retrieval the equalization steady-state to reduce the error by using ISI and faster convergence rate and performance is good SER (Symbol Error Ratio) was confirmed by computer simulations.

The pulsimeter is a representative device in the oriental medicine, which can analysis a risk factor in a cardiovascular diseases. However, most of the previous methods have the limit by the contacted sate of the brachial pulse and sensor in the measuring time, the inaccuracy of detected pulse, and the difficulty of pulse analysis. Accordingly, we propose the moving pulse image analysis based pulsimeter that can acquire a pulse of patient in real time by analyzing a moving image. then this video is shot the state change of the T.S. occurred by a pulse in capillary. In order to evaluate the performance of the our pulsimeter, we measured a respective detecting-rate about the essential 5 feature-points in the pulse analysis from the detected original pulse. As a result, the proposed method is very successful.
The Performance Comparison of the CMA and MMA Algorithm for Blind Adaptive Equalization

This paper deals with the performance comparison of adaptive equalization algorithm, CMA and MMA, that is used for the minimization of the distortion and noise effect in the communication channel at receiver.. We confirmed the application possibilities of the point to point or point to multipoint digital transmission technologies by analyzing the performance of MMA which is changing the error function of CMA that is the possible algorithm of fast equalization by relatively simple arithmatic computation compared to the other method. In CMA algorithm, we need the PLL for the amplitude compensation only and not possible to phase compensation inherently. But in MMA algorithm, we confired that the amplitude and phase of received signal can be compensated by computer simulation. For the comparison of algorithm, we used the essential performance index, convergence characteristics and residual isi. The result of performance comparison of algorithms, the MMA has good in convergence characteristic and the CMA has good in residual isi that is used for the amplitude compensation.
The Performance Comparison of the MMA and SCA Algorithm for Self Adaptive Equalization

This paper deals with the performance comparison of adaptive equalization algorithm, MMA and SCA, that is used for the minimization of the distortion and noise effect in the communication channel.. The transmitting signal will be distorted and received due to the nonlinearties of magnitude and phase transfer characteristics of communication channel, the compensation of it by using the self adaptive equalizer. The constant modulus has important metric in the self adaptive equalizer, the MMA uses the 2nd and 4th high order statistics of transmitting signal, the SCA uses the 2nd order statistics of transmitting signal only in order to the calculation of it. We compared to the compensation performance of the MMA and SCA by the computer simulation that are possible to the compensation of the two kinds of transfer characteristics at same times by the relatively simple arithmatic operation. We used to the recovered constellation, residual isi and MSE, SER that are the essential index for the comparison of the adaptive equalizer. The result of performance comparison of algorithms, the MMA which uses the high order statistics of transmitting signal has good performance in the MSE and SER compared to the SCA which is using the low order statistics. But in the recovered costellation and residual isi, the SCA has a good than the MMA.
Manufacturing of Burst mode Transceiver module and Performance Test for Upstream Channel of Gigabit Ethernet PON System

The circuits including with Optical transceiver and clock data recovery, in this paper, SERDES (SERializer-DESerializer) are implemented to construct a GE-PON burst-mode transceiver supporting IEEE 802.3ah and a jig for measuring the burst-mode characteristics, that is to say, PON upstream optical transmission environment are manufactured to evaluate the performance of transceiver. we verified that the limiting amplifier compensated the gap of max. 26dB optical power by experiments. The startup acquisition lock time is 670ns in case of using VSC7123 and 2300ns in case of S2060 and the data acquisition lock time were measured to be 400ns and 600ns, respectively, in the upstream channel transmission in this work. While on the other, VSC7123 is satisfied with IEEE802.3ah recommendations.

MIMO Radio Channel Measurement and Analysis at 781MHz

In this paper, the measurement data is analyzed and channel parameters are derived through MIMO Channel measurements at 781MHz considering outdoor multi-path environment. 781MHz frequency band currently operates the DTV system. However, it will be allocated new mobile communication frequency band. The channel characteristics at 781MHz seem to be similar existing mobile communication system at 900MHz but a study on channel characteristics of signal transfer process is necessary because there is incomplete study in mobile networks at 781MHz. To avoid interference with Korean DTV broadcasting, we measured channel characteristics in city/suburban areas of Jeju island by channel sounder and
antenna of the ETRI(Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute). Path Loss, Delay Spread, Angular Spread and K-factor were derived based on measured data.
Automated Test Data Generation based on Executable Object Codes

It is usual for test data generation to be performed using either high-level specifications or source codes written in high-level programming languages. In certain circumstances, however, such information is not always available. This paper presents a technique that generates test data based on executable object codes. The proposed technique makes use of a very simple function minimization technique without sophisticated object code analysis and produces test data dynamically. We have conducted a simple experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed test data generation technique with a triangle classification program to show that branch coverage can be easily achieved.
A Permittivity Measurement of Dielectric Slabs Using a Parallel Plate Waveguide

This paper introduces a simple new procedure approach to determine the permittivity of dielectric slabs. The method uses a parallel plate waveguide which supports a TEM mode. The presence of the dielectric slab placed at the bottom of the waveguide makes the speed of the TEM wave slower. The relationship between the change of the speed and the permittivity of the dielectric slab allows the determination of the permittivity. The relationship is analyzed electromagnetically, and the results of measurements are in good agreement with the analysis.
A Study of ePUB-based Interoperability Method of Rights Information Supporting Mutual Comparability of eBook DRM

IDPF, which builds formats and copyright protection standards of eBooks, has announced ePUB 3.0 as a technical standard of eBooks in October, 2011. This standard includes methods how to represent eBooks and technical specifications to protect eBook content. While technical specifications for content protection describe how to represent encryption and digital signature techniques, they do not identify any technical standards for rights expression but just file names for storages of rights information. It does not provide any unification of copyright information representation and formats used by eBook service companies. When copyright protection techniques for eBooks are used, comparability among eBook readers cannot be expected, even though there is a standard of ePUB. This study suggests a method to maintain compatibility toward eBook DRM by using unified rights information process under circumstances where different eBook service companies use diverse methods. Optimal Power Allocation of DOT Relay System with Fixed Branch Receiver

Recently, one of the research topics is wireless Ad-Hoc network minimizing power consumption because of limited power. We propose optimal power allocation scheme of each transmit node and derive performance analysis of system that recently designed Double opportunistic relay system which fixed branch receiver to use more than efficient power consumption. Optimal power location scheme is shown that outage probability has always better performance than equal power allocation. Furthermore, we are known that outage probability is minimized by increasing average transmit relays to obtain the diversity gain when average channel power gain is less.

The double-density discrete wavelet transform(DWT) is an improvement upon the critically sampled DWT with important additional properties. It employs one scaling function and two distinct wavelets, which are designed to be offset from one another by one half. And it is overcomplete by a factor of two. Also, this transformation is nearly shift-invariant. But there is room for improvement because not all of the wavelets are directional. That is, although the double-density DWT utilizes more wavelets, some lack a dominant spatial orientation, which prevents them from being able to isolate those directions. Proposed method is a DWT that combines the double-density DWT and quincunx sampling, each of which has its own characteristics and advantages. Especially, the quincunx sampling treats the different directions more homogeneously. As a result, since proposed method can generate sub-images of multiple degrees rotated versions, this method provides an improved performance in image processing fields.
A Definition and Evaluation Criteria for Software Development Success

The object of the project management is to succeed in the project. However, could you definitely judge that the result of project performance is a success? In addition, do both customer and developer agree with the result of your judgement? There are a lot of definitions and measure for the success and failure of the software development suggested, but there is no definite standard for the classification. This paper examines the measures in order to decide the development success and re-defines the success and the failure of the project. We suggest the measure and the standard that judge the project achievement based on these definitions. Applying the suggested measure and standard, it is possible to reduce arguments between the customer and the developer on the classification of the success and the failure.
Smart Tongue Electronic Chart System

These days it is becoming more and more common to find electronic medical screening systems installed in Oriental hospitals and clinics. This is a relatively new development for the practice of traditional Oriental medicine. Specifically, Pulse detection machines are being utilized in order to help determine a patient's disease scientifically. However, identifying and diagnosing the specific disease correctly for each patient is still very difficult in Oriental medicine. The intention of this paper is to propose a solution which uses two separate Electronic systems working together to produce a better likelihood of finding the correct diagnosis for each patient. It is proposed that an EMR intelligent electronic chart system be developed and employed, which would utilize both Pulse wave system and a tongue detection system at the same time, in order to solve the problem. Computer simulation results have proven to show that EMR systems used in hospitals and clinics are more efficient and yield a more accurate diagnosis than traditional methods.
Edge Security System for Factory Automation Devices

The conventional network security solutions for manufacturing or factory automation devices are concentrated on protecting the internal networks from the attacks of external networks. Recently, however, so called Day-zero attacks are increased; the threat from internal devices such as notebooks, USB devices are as critical as attacks from external networks. Thus a new security solution is needed to protect manufacturing devices from both external and internal threat. To this purpose, we propose an edge-security system to provide cost effective, integrated, and simple end-point security solution specialized for automated manufacturing devices, which may avoid the shortcomings of NAC.
An Empirical Study in Quality Management Effects with On-Premise System and Cloud Computing Environment using IFRS System

Listed companies ought to account all transactions and report and disclose their financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). To comply with IFRS almost all listed companies installed IFRS system within the companies (on-premise system). This study is trying to identify the effect to Quality Management with on-premise IFRS system. Nowadays, however, Cloud Computing is offered as a replacement of the on-premise system. This study is also trying to identify the effect to Quality Management with Cloud Computing environment instead of on-premise system. This is an empirical study through interviews with, questionnaires to, and statistical analysis of the responses from the professionals and experts who experienced installations of IFRS system.
