Extraction of Iris Codes for Personal Identification Using an Iris Image

In this paper, we introduce a new technology to extract the unique features from an iris image, which uses scale-space filtering. Resulting iris code can be used to develop a system for rapid and automatic human identification with high reliability and confidence levels. First, an iris part is separated from the whole image and the radius and center of the iris are evaluated. Next, the regions that have a high possibility of being noise are discriminated and the features presented in the highly detailed pattern are then extracted. In order to conserve the original signal while minimizing the effect of noise, scale-space filtering is applied. Experiments are performed using a set of 272 iris images taken from 18 persons. Test results show that the iris feature patterns of different persons are clearly discriminated from those of the same person.
Development of the speed up x-DSL extender for AM, HF rejection

Intentional city bands and public radio frequencies could reduce the internet transmission speed on the wired lines because AM and HF band are overlapping on the xDSL up and down data steam by way of the wired transmission lines. We were designed the adaptive common mode rejection circuit with 2 way amplifier against public radio frequency. Specially our circuits were applied for power and signal lines. We could reduced the common mode rejection up to 30dB and increased the up stream speed around 1.8 times using a our developed equipments. Also it could expanded the transmission distance up to 1.7 times than old lines.
On the Security Proof of the Cramer-Shoup Public Key Cryptosystem

Provable security has widely been used to prove a cryptosystem's security formally in crpytography. In this paper, we analyze the Cramer-Shoup public key cryptosystem that has been known to be provable secure against adaptive chosen ciphertext attack and argue that its securiy proof is not complete in the generic sense of adaptive chosen ciphertext attack. Future research should be directed toward two diections: one is to make the security proof complete even against generic sense of adaptive chosen ciphertext attack, and another is to try finding counterexamples of successful adaptive chosen ciphertext attack on the Cramer-Shoup cryptosystem.
Study on improvement of Performance of Call of IP PBX embeded using the Cashing Method

In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that reduces call setup time between the IP PBXs installed in the main office and several branch offices. In the IP PBXs installed in branch offices, we prepare some internal memory spaces, and they keep the frequently used extension numbers and the corresponding IP PBX's addresses. In order to call an extension number registered to the other remote IP PBX from an extension number registered to the local IP PBX, the local PBX searches for the destined extension from its internal memory first. If the extension is found, then the local PBX uses its corresponding IP PBX address stored along with the extension, instead of making a query to the main office's IP PBX. By this technique, we could shorten the average call setup time and verified it by an experiment.
An Entropy-based Dynamic Routing Protocol for Supporting Effective Route Stability in Mobile Ad-hoc Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper, we propose an entropy-based dynamic routing protocol for supporting effective route stability in mobile ad-hoc wireless sensor networks(MAWSN). The basic ideas and features are as follows. First, construction of entropy-based stable routing route using mobility of nodes between a source node and a destination node. Second, usage of location and direction information for route construction to support resource saving. Third, We consider a realistic approach, in the points of view of the MAWSN, based on mobile sensor nodes as well as fixed sensor nodes in sensor fields while the conventional research for sensor networks focus on mainly fixed sensor nodes. The performance evaluation of the proposed routing protocol is performed via simulation using OPNET. The simulation results show the proposed routing protocol can effectively support route stability and packet delivery ratio.
Studies on improvement scheme of Electro-Static Discharge protection of GaN based LEDs

High performance light emitting diodes(LEDs) have been developed using GaN-based materials grown on sapphire substrates in recent years. Although these LEDs are already commercially available, we have to consider electrostatic discharge(ESD) damage related to both basic materials of diode and miniaturization of LEDs. ESD damage is one of the important parameters influencing reliability of the light emitting devices. We investigated mass production of GaN-based LEDs suffered from ESD during production process and present the solutions in order to improve the ESD problem. Most of EDS problems were controlled by using instruments properly and improvement of the process circumstances as well.

The realization of a monitoring system for senior citizens living alone through wireless sensor network. Due to the recent advances in medical science, people live longer than ever before which accelerates the number of senior citizens. The high rate of the old people in population causes some changes in the form of families, which results in the increasing number of old people living by themselves. This also causes a lot of social problems concerning aging population. For example, people found a dead body of 83-year-old, who had lived alone, after he passed away a month before. There is a national monitoring service for the old people of their daily lives, but the application of such system is very limited. Considering this, the current paper focuses on the realization of a monitoring system for senior citizens living alone through wireless sensor network. The system consists of ZigBee sensor network, which is based on standard IEEE 802.15.4. and the system uses Tmote Sky sensor mote made by Moteive, which is installed with TinyOS. The circumstances information data will be saved on DB and a household will be monitored through a Webpage or Mobile.
A Cell-based Compression Technique of the Spatial Data for the Mobile GIS

Recently, with the development of wireless communications and GIS, interest about mobile computing is rising. In this case, the GIS needs to be placed in a constricted environment than the environment of server computing. For this reason large amounts of spatial data must be compressed into the mobile device. The compression technique of the spatial data is difficult and must be processed in the correct order because the size of the data is unpredictable. Therefore, in this paper, the cell-based compression technique of the spatial data for mobile GIS is presented. This paper includes the process of transformation of spatial data from a certain server to a mobile device by cell-based compression technique. In this paper, the cell-based compression technique of the spatial data has been proven practically efficient.
Mobile Remote Healthcare in Ubiquitous Computing Environments

In this paper, we proposed a multi-agent based healthcare system (MAHS) which is the combination of medical sensor module and wireless communication technology. This MAHS provides wide services to mobile telemedicine, patient monitoring, emergency management, doctor's diagnosis and prescription, patients and doctors, information exchange between hospital workers in a long distance. Also, MAHS is connected to Body Area Network (BAN) and a doctor and hospital workers. In addition, we designed and implemented extended JADE based MAHS that reduces hospital server's burden. Agents gather, integrate, and deliver the collected patient's information from sensor, and provide presentation in healthcare environment. Proposed MAHS has advantage that can handle urgent situation in the far away area from hospital like Islands through PDA and mobile device. In addition, by monitoring condition of patient (old man) in a real time base, it shortens time and expense and supports medical service efficiently.
A Combining Scheme to Reduce Power Consumption in Cooperation and Cyclic Code for Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper, our goal is to find a power-effective protocol that improves the accuracy of transmission in sensor networks. Therefore we propose a cooperative communication protocol based on MRC(Maximal Ratio Combining) and cyclic code. In our proposal, one sensor node assists two others to communicate with a clusterhead that can get diversity effect and MRC can improve diversity effect also. The proposed protocol with cyclic code can correct error up to 3-bit and reduce decoding complexity compared with convolutional code. The big issue according to the advance of wireless internet is the design of on-line game under mobile computing environment. The current mobile games have constraints in implementation of on-line game due to the low performance processor. small memory size and short battery time. Therefore, nowadays one-button games which are simple and easy to manipulate, have attracted great interests. In this paper, we designed and implemented the trandition Jeki-chaki game, which is a kind of one-line game, using a mobile handset.
Implementation of FTTH System based on G-PON Technology

This paper addresses the implementation of FTTH system based on G-PON technology. This system supports the duplication function that can switchover both TDM and data routes within 10msec. This system consists of OLT and ONU/ONT. G-PON OLT supports the maximum 32 2.5Gbps interfaces, and then has the flexibility and the scalability for supplying digital communication and broadcasting convergence service in the near future. OLT system consists switch module, subscriber module, processor module, and G-PON link module, and has the operating system based on Linux. ONU is installed in customer premise to supply TPS (Triple Play Service). Also ONT has the dedicated interface for IP-TV to improve the transmission characteristics of IP-TV signal.
A Study of The Secure Mobile Healthcare System for Medical Grid Devices

The introduction of wireless information technology gives rise to new mobile services in all kinds of areas of out daily life. Mobile healthcare system is a production of composite ICT (Information and Communication Technology) which focused on signal sensing, processing, and communication in wireless environment. The mobile and wireless revolution promises not only expanded access to patient health information, but also improved patient care. In this paper, we describe a surrogate host based mobile healthcare information system which utilized Grid computing for real-time ECG signal processing. The surrogate host provides seamless interface between mobile device and Medical Grid portal. The security extension of GSI (Grid Security Infrastructure) allows mobile users to access Grid portal in a secure and convenient manner. The presented system architecture can be used as a secure enterprise mobile healthcare system for hospital physicians.
Developing a new MAC Protocol for Multi-hop Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks

T-Lohi, a MAC protocol for underwater acoustic sensor networks, has been designed to support dense networks consisting of short-range acoustic modems. However when T-Lohi is applied to large networks in which multi-hop routing is necessary, it suffers a lot of packet collisions due to the hidden terminal problem. To combat this problem, we propose a new MAC protocol which employs RTS/CTS handshaking. To our knowledge, this protocol is the first to adopt both a tone-based approach and RTS/CTS handshaking for dense underwater acoustic sensor networks. Simulation results show that this new protocol drastically reduces packet collisions while achieving good network utilization.
Effect of rapid thermal annealing of GaN EpiLayer

We have investigated the high temperature rapid thermal annealing of GaN epilayers in nitrogen atmosphere. Annealing has been performed in a rapid thermal annealing furnace at
. The effect of rapid thermal annealing of GaN was studied by x-ray diffraction. The Bragg peak shifts toward larger angle as the annealing time increases. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the peak slightly increase, followed by decreases, and increases again as the thermal treatment time increases. The improvement of structural properties of the samples was observed after rapid thermal annealing under optimum conditions. This improvement in crystal quality is due to a reduction of the spread in the lattice parameter in epilayers.
A Study on Comparing algorithms for Boxing Motion Recognition

In this paper, we describes the boxing motion recognition which is used in the part of games, animation. To recognize the boxing motion, we have used two algorithms, one is principle component analysis, the other is dynamic time warping algorithm. PCA is the simplest of the true eigenvector-based multivariate analyses and often used to reduce multidimensional data sets to lower dimensions for analysis. DTW is an algorithm for measuring similarity between two sequences which may vary in time or speed. We introduce and compare PCA and DTW algorithms respectively. We implemented the recognition of boxing motion on the motion capture system which is developed in out research, and depict the system also. The motion graph will be created by boxing motion data which is acquired from motion capture system. and will be normalized in a process. The result has implemented in the motion recognition system with five actors, and showed the performance of the recognition.
A study on the Analysis Method of Interference using SEAMCAT in UHF band

In this paper, we proposed the modeling of UHF frequency environment in a random mountainous area with line of sight. A transmitting station is defined as wanted transmitter(Wr) and a receiving station is defined as victim receiver(Vr). These set up victim link. A interference transmitter(It) and wanted receiver(Wr) set up interference link. We compared measured data at random mountainous area with data of the result using spectrum engineering advanced monte calo analysis tool(SEAMCAT), interference simulation based on the monte-carlo method. The desired received signal strength(dRSS) of SEAMCAT had the calculated error of 70% from the measured received signal strength because there was a topographical effect. Therefore, the effect of diffraction interference was included to lessen the power of transmitter in the proposed simulation. The cause of received power error are cable loss and errors of a measuring instrument. The proposed simulation modeling in UHF frequency environment expect that is the useful study on interference analysis and reassignment of broadcasting frequency.
A Study on the Internet based Traffic Intersection control

Traffic intersection control is implemented by the data which is acquired to vechile loop detector. Traffic intersection control equation is Webster equation. which use passig and delayed vechile number. But webster equation is applied to the spot traffic intersection, it is not used to related traffic intersection network system. There is not the approprate remote traffic intersection control, even if there is, it is high cost local network system. Therefore low cost and expert traffic intersection control is realized by internet referencing next and distant intersection traffic information.

Cyber university can easily study the lecture only press the couple of mouse click or keyboard button anywhere and anytime, if you have a computer. Many people believe that virtual university can save time and improve learning. To check How many students learn which selected some of the virtual university courses, instructor must know how to the understanding students and find out their difficult problems. Without checking this condition, it will be a very difficult and boring virtual university course. In this paper, we introduce the intelligent learning system. It has a full duplex direction that teaches understanding students and not understanding students. The computer simulation results confirmed that a full duplex virtual learning system has been proven to be much more efficient than one way direction which unfortunately does not consider to understanding problems.
A Study of Fusing Scheme of Image and Sensing Data Using Index Method

Recently, it is studying to provide to users through internet in the SensorWeb of OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium) saving and maintaining data and image information gathered from sensor network. It is necessary to study about data convergence as binding audio and video for delivering the sensing data and image information to users with real-time system . In this article, it suggests how to convergence sensing data and moving picture collected from the sensor network using index. This program indicates both of them that collected sensing data and information identified of moving picture in the integration index and based on this program provides sensing data moving picture at the same time referencing integration index, if the user asks. To verify suggested method designing real-time multimedia service structure using sensor network and image installation and implementing Ubiquitous realtime multimedia system integrating moving picture and sensing data based on index. As a result of this program, it is confirmed providing real-time multimedia service to request information of application service using integration index collected image and sensing data from wireless sensor network and image installation suggested data convergence method.
Implementation of IPTV Embedded Monitoring System for Emission Inventory

The Climate Change Convention has a purpose for stabilizing the concentration of greenhouse gases of the atmosphere so that the dangerous and artificial effects may not influence atmosphere systems. We intend to present the model needed to establish the systems able to monitor and control in real time not sticking to places by grafting IPTV technique and setting the monitoring objects of the greenhouse emitting sources of industrial facilities, the estimation instruction of emissions, the guidelines of emission estimation, etc. in order to corresponding to this Climate Change Convention.
Visibility Enhancement of the Ultrasonic Signal Reflected from Adhesive Layers

Recently, electronic devices is produced by multilayer structure, therefore analysis for hidden layers is important nondestructive inspection. This paper presents visibility enhancement methods for the ultrasonic multiple echoes reflected from adhesive layer in the multilayers using digital signal processing. The reflected signals from the multilayers corne out interval of the peaks in the power cepstrum. In the experiment, the adhesive layers of settled thickness using epoxy were formed. The reflected signals from the multilayer is detected by pulse-echo method and power cepstrum is processed for enhancement of visibility.
Studies about Changes in Modern Korean Font and Effect of Digital Font to Caligraphy Design Thinking of Korea

Recently, typography in Korea has been varied. Among them, after 2005 a new trend caligraphy has appeared and in reality people discussed that this has been occurred as a coincidence. However, as a view of one who is interested in Hangeul typography, born of Hangeul caligraphy is not a coincidence. It is because computerizing of Hangeul has been later than U.S. or Japan. Korea was colonized by Japan and experienced the Korean War and economical independence got late and cultural independence got late as well. Our language, Hangeul was independenced in the beginning of 1990's after computer was introduce and original letter of Hangeul was scanned and basic standard was built. From the end of 80's there were many efforts for independence of Hangeul but there were problems on hardware side than software side. In the beginning of 90's basic fonts such as Myungjo or Gothic of Choi Jung-ho's fonts were set for computer hardware, but later 90's can be called as a time for distributing designed fonts for that new fonts that were planned and applying new ideas on fonts were done. In 2000 the two major font company in Korea Sandoll Communication and Yoon Design Institute made a fonts such as When branding had to be done by designer, typo must be written so adjusting size and moving baseline made old style and caligraphy fonts to be born. These cycling process has been natural motive for nowadays' caligraphy and these two major companies' role has made caligraphy to be popular.
Studies on the Traffic Information Collection System using Electronic Toll Collection Service

The decisive factor for the popularization of telematics services in the future isn the ability to produce advanced service that match the needs of drivers and passengers. The Dedicated Short Range Communication(DSRC)-type of wireless communication system, which is being developed for the Intelligent Transport System(ITS), is one of the broadband wireless systems contributing to the improvement of driver and passenger needs, such as convenience, entertainment, comfort and safety. In this paper, the possibility of applying this system to the traffic information collection service will be explored. Further, a description of the service design for the traffic information collection system using electronic toll collection service will be provided, in the knowledge that the existence of information communication equipment mounted vehicles will remain.
A Study on Development Plan, Comparison & Analysis of Digital CATV and IPTV

With the discontinuation of analog broadcasting in 2012, the cable broadcasters are investing in the conversion to DCATV (Digital Cable TV). DCATV is providing various broadcast of high quality to audiences through paid broadcasting called PPV (Pay Per View). Such services are using various kinds of CASs (Conditional Access System) in order to verify the viewing rights of subscriber. In addition, to respond to the fast changing environment of digital broadcast, not only simple digitalization of broadcast but also services such as PVR (Personal Video Recorder) and VOD (Video On Demand) are provided to subscribers. Because these additional services have many difficult areas to cover with traditional CAS alone, a new plan has become necessary. With the improvement of related regulations in 2008, the test service of IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) which is a broadcast service through the internet started. Because like DCATV, IPTV also sets the real time broadcast and the VOD service as the basic services, the use of appropriate CAS is required. In this study, the CASs for DCATV and IPTV undergo comparative analysis, and the development direction which will benefit both subscribers and broadcasting companies is suggested.
