Standard Configuration for Interface of the Traffic Information Service using DSRC

Recently, a number of OBU(On Board Unit) have being spreaded since ETCS(Electronic Toll Collection System)using DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) was installed in the tollgate of the whole country. Many R&D and commercialization related to ITS service using DSRC and OBU mentioned above are ongoing such as traffic information collection and provision and a signal control, and public traffic information and management and so on. Especially, there are many researches conducted(conducting) on traffic information collection and provision using communication between OBU and RSE. However, Standards for both DSRC application and traffic collection and provision are not established clearly yet. So we would like to suggest a method of traffic information collection and provision without changing of standard related to DSRC. This method is to put the traffic messages into the existing Action primitive for ETC, which is described on "Technical criterion IV of basic traffic information exchange" which was notified by Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. Proposed standard application method is applied both to RSE and OBE. It is the same system which ETCS used in highway, currently. We confirmed the efficiency and performance of the system through conducting a variety of driving test using 4 vehicles in real road condition. Result of the real road test shows the effectiveness and validity of this method with about 97% communication success rate and based on studying the cases of 3% communication failure, we can analyse the expected problems in traffic information collection and provision using this method.
A Study on the Estimate Real Time Delay Model using BIS Data

This study is to estimate delay time model of signalized intersection by using travel data of Bus Information System. BIS, which applies the advanced information technology to an existing bus system, has been developing and operating in many cities. However, even though some useful traffic informations have been collected from BIS operation, utilization of real-time data to the traffic operation has not been promoted due to the inhomogeneity of modal speeds. Accordingly, in this study, a fundamental research is performed for traffic controls in urban areas and providing a traffic information throughout a methodology for estimating delay time using the data from BIS was developed. This delay time model setting bus travel time excluding service time of a bus stop as explanatory variables was constructed as a regression model, and the coefficient of determination of a linear regression model most highly appeared as 0.826. As a result of performing T-test with field survey values and model estimation values for verifying constructed models statistically, it was analyzed to be statistically significant in a confidence level of 95%.
The Effect of Staggered Pedestrian Crossings at Wide Width Intersections

The pedestrian green time is usually long at wide width intersections. This sometimes causes the increase of delay on the whole intersection because of long cycle length and thus small g/C ratio on some direction. In this paper, to improve these problems, staggered pedestrian crossing was evaluated on the vehicular and pedestrian aspects. The results were gained by using both TRANSYT-7F and VISSIM model. The vehicle control delay of the staggered pedestrian crossing was estimated to be decreasing than that of the general pedestrian crossing by 14.9% to 85.6%. The pedestrian average delay of two pedestrian crossing systems was examined by analytical method and VISSIM. According to the analytical method there was no significant difference between each pedestrian crossing system. The pedestrian delay of staggered pedestrian crossing was from 13.4% to 22.3% than the general pedestrian crossing by VISSIM. In conclusion, the staggered pedestrian crossing was more effective than general pedestrian crossing for both the vehicle and the pedestrian. However this conclusion was resulted from micro simulation where traffic volume condition, v/c, was from 0.8 to 1.1.
Deploying Ubiquitous Traffic Flow Control System under the ITS Environments

It is thought traffic flow management under the ubiquitous transportation system has great potential in view of individual vehicle data availability and V2V, V2I two-way communication environments. However, it is expected that deployment of the ubiquitous transportation system takes some time. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the feasibility of the algorithm under the ITS environment. The speed management algorithm proposed in the previous research is revised to fit for the ITS data collection and information provision environment. And the feasibility of the algorithm is evaluated through simulation experiments.
Vehicle Classification Scheme of Two-Axle Unit Vehicle Based on the Laser Measurement of Height Profiles

Vehicle classification data are considerably used in the almost all fields of transportation planning and engineering. Highway agencies use a large number of vehicle classification schemes. Vehicles on the national highway are classified by 12-Category classification system, using number of axles, distances between axles, vehicle length, overhang, and other factors. In the case of using existing axle-sensor-based classification counters (that is, 12-category classification system), two-axle vehicles(Class 1 to 4) can be erroneously classified because a passenger vehicle becomes larger and similar with class 3 and 4. In this reason, this study proposes the vehicle classification scheme based on using vehicle height profiles obtained by a laser sensors. Also, the accuracy of the proposed method are tested through a field study.
The Design of Wideband Dipole Antenna using Four Rings

In this paper wideband dipole antenna that is usable as PCS/WCDMA/WiBro/WiMax public relay station antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna that designed by using double ring structure improves bandwidth performance of existing dipole antenna to wideband performance. To verify wideband performance and isotropic radiation pattern of the proposed antenna, simulation and fabrication have progressed its radiation characteristic has measured and then compared with calculated result. Measured result is similar to calculated result and has gain of 2dB VSWR of 2:1 over 1.75~3GHz. It is considered that the dipole antenna that designed in this paper can be usable as PCS/WCDMA/WiBro/WiMax public relay station antenna.
Study on drawing up the integration method between combined information communication network design and information management system for Transportation-Power-Infrastructures on the electric vehicle

Vehicle location detection and wireless communication method have be designed along the same lines as GPS, CDMA and WLAN, which is based upon the selecting factors such as state-of-art technology trend, accuracy, stability, and economic feasibility, in order to select the optimum method of information communication networks for integrated "Transportation-Power-Facilities" on the electric bus. In addition, the key features of each alternative for an efficient linkage have been review and the integration methodology for linking among Transportation Charging Center, Transportation(ITS, BIS) Center and smart Grid Center has been drawn up based on a technical level of difficulty of each alternative, political and administrative difficulties, and expense justification.
Design of High Efficiency Class-J mode Power Amplifier using GaN HEMT with Broad-band Characteristic

In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a high efficiency and broad-band Class-J mode power amplifier using gallium nitride(GaN) high-electron mobility transistor(HEMT). The matching circuit of proposed class-J mode power amplifier for 2nd harmonic impedance designed to provide pure reactance alone. The measurement results show that output power of
dBm, power-added efficiency of 50%, and drain efficiency of 60% for a continuous wave signal at 1.4 to 2.6 GHz.
A Coaxial Waveguide-based Spatial Combiner Using Finline-to-Microstrip Transitions

In this paper, a S-band coaxial waveguide-based spatial combiner is proposed. The proposed combiner consists of coaxial waveguide, impedance transformer, and finline-to-microstrip transformer. The coaxial waveguide is used as the host of the combining circuits for higher output power and better uniformity by equally distributing the input power to each element. The finline-to-microstrip transformer is designed by using antipodal antenna, and obtained low reflection coefficient by applying the small reflection theorem. The measurement results show the coaxial waveguide combiner has a maximum combining efficiency of 95%.
A Study on Path Loss Prediction for the PNG of Russia Using the Free Space Model and the Hata Model

In this paper, we got the 800 ~ 900 MHz path loss model for Russia PNG area using the free space model and the Okumura-Hata Model. In order to add new regional properties to the existing path loss model, the mean square error technique is used to obtain the correction factor. The correction factors for the free space and the Hata model are 28, 13 dB respectively. By applying this correction factors, the new Russain PNG path loss model is proposed.
A Study on the Performance Enhancement of Multi-Interface Multi-Channel MAC Protocols in Wireless Mesh Networks

Spurred by the advent of ITS and WAVE (Wireless access in vehicular environments) as well as the wide-spread use of smart phones, WMN technology is considered to be a promising technology for extending the Internet access coverage supported by the IEEE802.11 based access points. In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol which can efficiently utilize the multi-interface multi-channel communication capabilities supposedly equipped in most mesh routers, thereby increasing the network throughput considerably. We also verified its performance through computer simulations.
High Power and High Efficiency Unbalanced Doherty Amplifier used to Extend the Output Power Back-off

This paper presents a high power and high efficiency unbalanced Doherty power amplifier used to extend the output power back-off (OPBO). The proposed unbalanced amplifier uses the same type of transistors in both the main amplifier and the peaking amplifier, similar to a conventional symmetric Doherty amplifier. The unbalanced amplifier can have the impedance of a
transformer located at the output of the main amplifier modified. This enables the OPBO to exceed 6 dB, the maximum OPBO for a conventional symmetric Doherty amplifier. The efficiency and linearity performance of the unbalanced Doherty amplifier are almost same as those found for the asymmetric Doherty amplifier, even though the unbalanced Doherty amplifier structure is simpler than the asymmetric Doherty structure. In order to verify the proposed amplifier performance, a 46 W Doherty amplifier has been both simulated and measured using a CDMA2000 1FA signal. From the measured results, the proposed unbalanced Doherty amplifier achieved an added power efficiency of 38 % and an adjacent channel power ratio of -34 dBc at a 885 kHz offset frequency and -35.6 dBc at a 1.98 MHz offset frequency.
Analysis of the Effect of Carbon Dioxide Reduction by Changing from Signalized Intersection to Roundabout using Tier 3 Method

Delay reduction of vehicles at the intersection is highly dependent on the signal operation method. Improper traffic operation causes the violation of the traffic regulations and increasing traffic congestion. Delay because of congestion has contributed to the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The focus of this paper is to measure the amount of carbon dioxide when the intersection is changed to roundabout. Even though, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) recommends Tier 1 method to measure the amount of greenhouse gas from vehicles, this paper used Tier 3 method because we could use the data of average running distance per each vehicle model. Two signalized intersections were selected as the study area and the delay reductions of roundabout operation were estimated by VISSIM microscopic simulation tool. The control delay for boksu intersection reduced from 28.6 seconds to 4.4 seconds and the KRIBB intersection sharply reduced from 156.4 seconds to 23.6 seconds. In addition, carbon dioxide for two intersections reduced to 646.5 ton/year if the intersection is changed to roundabout. Future research tasks include testing the experiment for networks, as well as for various intersection types.
A Demand forecasting for Electric vehicles using Choice Based Multigeneration Diffusion Model

Recently, the global warming problem has arised around world, many nations has set up a various regulations for decreasing
. In particular,
emissions reduction effect is very powerful in transport part, so there is a rising interest about development of green car, or electric vehicle in auto industry. For this reason, it is important to make a strategy for charging infra and forcast electric power demand, but it hasn't introduced about demand forecasting electric vehicle. Thus, this paper presents a demand forecasting for electric vehicles using choice based multigeneration diffusion model. In this paper, it estimates innovation coefficient, immitation coefficient in Bass model by using hybrid car market data and forecast electric vehicle market by year using potential demand market through SP(Stated Preference) experiment. Also, It facilitates more accurate demand forecasting electric vehicle market refelcting multigeneration diffusion model in accordance with attribute progress in development of electric vehicle. Through demand forecasting methodology in this paper, it can be utilized power supply and building a charging infra in the future.
The analysis of two-lane highway traffic flows in case of the neighborhood electric vehicle involved

To make popular the NEV(Neighborhood Electric Vehicles) uses, it must be considered the supply of infrastructure and the political decision for NEV. However, the guidelines of infrastructure for NEV are not prepared. The guidelines of infrastructure for NEV should be performed in many research and case. The purpose of this study is to reveal the influence of NEV on the two-lane highway traffic flows by TWOPAS simulation model. The main items to check the influence are Average Travel speed, Percent Time Spent Following and Total Delay. The scenario were setup by traffic volume. And the NEV percentages are changed from 1% ~ 30%. The scenario 1 which traffic volume are 650veh/h and the scenario 4 which traffic volume are 2,600veh/h are less influenced by NEV, compare to scenario 2, scenario 3. Because the scenario 1 is more free to make passing other cars and Scenario 4 is fully saturated with existing traffic volumes. The urban two-lane highway which has much traffic volume and the rural two-lane highway which has little traffic volume has affinity for NEV than the other two-lane highway.
A Multi Medium Wireless Communication Vehicle Terminal Development and a Performance Test

As communication technology, an enabling technology for ITS, becomes diversified with DSRC, CDMA, Wireless LAN, it is expected that type and function of ITS services will become gradually expanded. As a result, research and development of a standard platform that can provide support so that numerous communication technologies that are being used in various ITS services to receive various ITS services can be operated in one integrated terminal are being carried out. On Board Unit (OBU) for a recent standard platform was also built and tested recently. However, verification for standard suitability of the standard platform OBU that was developed must be carried out. Standard technology must be realized and sufficient functional and operational testing must be carried out in order to guarantee efficient operation in an actual ITS system and increase utilization of standard technology. Therefore, In this paper we had constructed test road and we had tested a standard platform OBU for a standard application.
