Effectiveness Analysis of Roundabout Based on the Operation of Pedestrian Signal

This study deals with the operation effectiveness of roundabout. The objective of this study was to analyze the operational effectiveness of roundabout based on the operation of pedestrian signal. For pursuing the above, VISSIM was as a traffic simulation program. this study gives particular attention to analyzing the 1,680 scenarios by operation of Pedestrian Signal(7 cases), roundabout type(2 cases), pedestrian volume(8 cases) and entering volume(15 cases). The main results analyzed are as follows. First, the operational effectiveness analyzed by 2 type of 4-legged 1-lane roundabout and 6 type of 4-legged 2-lane were evaluated to be better than that by the others type. Second, the average delay time analyzed by operation of pedestrian signal were evaluated to be less than that by unsignalized pedestrian crossing. Finally, the average delay time analyzed by pedestrian crossing were decreased 8.18% than that by staggered pedestrian crossing in 4-legged 1-lane. However, the average delay time analyzed by staggered pedestrian crossing were evaluated to be decreased 36.53% than that by pedestrian crossing in 4-legged 2-lane.
Improvement of ATIS Model Performance under Connected Vehicle Environment

This paper develops a decentralized advanced traveler information system (ATIS) under the connected vehicle environment, recently regarded as one of most promising tools in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). The performance of the proposed ATIS is reinforced by introducing autonomous automatic incident detection (AAID) function. The proposed ATIS is implemented and tested using an off-the-shelf microscopic simulation model (VISSIM) on a simple traffic network under idealized communication conditions. A key attribute of this experiment is the inclusion of a non-recurrent traffic state (i.e., traffic incident). Simulation results indicate that the ATIS using V2V communication is efficient in saving drivers' travel time and AAID plays an important role in improving the effectiveness of the system.
A Study on Value Evaluation of Smart Intermodal-Transfer Service

Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs prepared the method to update traffic connection system by amending "National Transport System Efficiency Act(hereinafter Act)". The key is a development of Intermodal Transfer Center. The law and guideline related with Intermodal Transfer Center requires the installation and operation of transfer information guide facility to improve user's convenience. However, there are no sufficient studies that can be used as references for the method to construct transfer support information system related with user's preference. The study performed the research about user's service satisfaction in relation with transfer support information service, which was embodied in model operation process, on the basis of transfer support information system of Intermodal Transfer Center applied to Gimpo Airport. The analysis result about service preference, importance of each supplied information, service satisfaction and consideration for service embodiment can be used as a guideline to embody the user information service of Intermodal Transfer Center. In addition, through CVM, the study estimated and proposed the service valuation of smart intermodal transfer service that provides customized information to cope with user's situation and traffic means operation status among transfer support information service. It is determined that the study will measure the benefit of Intermodal Transfer Center user by using monetary value when smart intermodal transfer service is supplied and provide the ground to expand high-tech transfer information service with high usefulness and convenience.
A Sturdy on the Deployment Strategy of Communication Environment for Adopting the International Standards between ITS Center and Roadside Equipment

This study set out to define a communication environment between an ITS center and field device required to be introduced in the nation in order to guarantee the interoperability, compatibility, and global competitiveness of communication between them in the nation. It also aimed to establish technical and policy plans for its introduction, develop an emulator for information exchange, and apply VMS by way of showing an example, thus testing its validity. First, a standard environment for information exchange between an ITS center and field device required to be introduced in the nation was defined as a dual protocol between DATEX and SNMP. The study also proposed a message definition system including meta-attribution definition and OID introduction. The study then suggested technical and policy plans for its introduction including securing enough feasibility with feedback through a model project of standard introduction, offering education and promotions for the standard in advance, providing methods to introduce and systematically manage OID, developing a hardware standard proper for the information exchange standard, and setting up an integrated management system to introduce a dual protocol.
Implications and numerical application of the asymptotical shock wave model

According to the Lighthill and Whitham's shock wave model, a shock wave exists even in a homogeneous speed condition. They referred this wave as unobservable- analogous to a radio wave that cannot be seen. Recent research has attempted to identify how such a counterintuitive conclusion results from the Lighthill and Whitham's shock wave model, and derive a new asymptotical shock wave model. The asymptotical model showed that the shock wave in a homogenous speed traffic stream is identical to the ambient vehicle speed. Thus, no radio wave-like shock wave exists. However, performance tests of the asymptotical model using numerical values have not yet been performed. We investigated the new asymptotical model by examining the implications of the new model, and tested it using numerical values based on a test scenario. Our investigation showed that the only difference between both models is in the third term of the equations, and that this difference has a crucial role in the model output. Incorporation of model parameter
is another distinctive feature of the asymptotical model. This parameter makes the asymptotical model more flexible. In addition, due to various choices of
values, model calibration to accommodate various traffic flow situations is achievable. In Lighthill and Whitham's model, this is not possible. Our numerical test results showed that the new model yields significantly different outputs: the predicted shock wave speeds of the asymptotical model tend to lean toward the downstream direction in most cases compared to the shock wave speeds of Lighthill and Whitham's model for the same test environment. Statistical tests of significance also indicate that the outputs of the new model are significantly different than the corresponding outputs of Lighthill and Whitham's model.
Design of a Capacitive Detection Circuit using MUX and DLC based on a vMOS

This paper describes novel scheme of a gray scale capacitive fingerprint image for high-accuracy capacitive sensor chip. The typical gray scale image scheme used a DAC of big size layout or charge-pump circuit of non-volatile memory with high power consumption and complexity by a global clock signal. A modified capacitive detection circuit of charge sharing scheme is proposed, which uses DLC(down literal circuit) based on a neuron MOS(vMOS) and analog simple multiplexor. The detection circuit is designed and simulated in 3.3V,
standard CMOS process. Because the proposed circuit does not need a comparator and peripheral circuits, a pixel layout size can be reduced and the image resolution can be improved.
A Design Guide to Type-3 PLLs for FMCW Radars

A design guide to type-3 PLLs for FMCW radars is provided. To do that, the cross-over frequencies of the open-loop transfer functions were normalized to 1 Hz and closed-loop properties were compared through simulations using Pspice. As a result, several guides to design type-3 PLLs were provided: 1) secure 45 degrees of phase margin, 2) locate two zeroes at an identical frequency, and 3) poles may be added to raise order of the PLL at higher frequencies than the cross-over frequency of the open-loop transfer function about ten times.

In this paper, a new planar folded UHF band RFID reader antenna is suggested. For the antenna suggested in this paper, 4 PIFA (Planar Inverted F Antenna) micro-strip structures are adopted. The size is
. The gain of the antenna is 1.1 dBi, the VSWR is 1.2:1, and the efficiency is 63.3 %. The radiation pattern is designed as upper direction. Identification distance for the RFID tags is improved by minimizing hand effects with properly integrating 4 PIFAs.
An Effective Emergency Message Delivery Mechanism for VANET

VANETs can provide traffic warring service to help drivers drive safely based on the information of the traffic condition. The driver can drive safely through the warning service information provided by the VANET and know the traffic condition exactly more than through only the sight of driver. In this paper we suggest a new mechanism of updating the table to broadcast the message more rapidly based on the table driven method as the way of sending the emergency message in the VANETs. When updating the table, nodes sends only based on the message transmission success rate. In the result of simulation we could find that the suggested mechanism would reduce the delay time of the emergency message broadcast compared to the existing mechanism.
Power Transmission Line Hazardous Material Surveillance System Implemented Laser Scanning

In this paper, we implemented a surveillance system for the power transmission line protection from heavy-duty fender-bender. Laser scanning technology was applied for system design. It was analyzed detailed functions for designed system. Measured detection rate and error rate that are monitoring parameters for both studied system and conventional system were 100%, 0% and 95.8%, 2.1%, respectively. Measurement showed that studied system is almost perfect and better than conventional system. Because this system provides the information to frontline workers with managers of heavy equipments that have possibility of accident, it can be applied to surveillance system for the transmission line protection.
Mobility Management Scheme for Vehicles Moving Repeated Path

It is advantageous to avoid the handover to cell whose dwell time is short or can be ignored in terms of service continuity and average throughput. This paper proposes the handover scheme that is suitable for vehicle in order to improve the wireless Internet service quality. In the proposed scheme, the handover process continues to be learned before being modeled to Discrete-Time Markov Chain (DTMC). This modeling reduces the handover frequency by preventing the handover to cell that could provide service sufficiently to passenger even when vehicle passed through the cell but there was no need to perform handover. In order to verify the proposed scheme, we observed the average number of handovers, the average RSSI and the average throughput on various moving paths that vehicle moved in the given urban environment.
Optimized Design Technique of The EMI(Electro Magnetic Interference) Noise Reduction for Wireless Video Stream System

In this paper, we manufactured the wireless video stream system after we scanned EMI(Electro Magnetic Interference)noise in the system. and then, we analysed the noise frequency in the interface, circuit and PCB(Printed Circuit Board). we suggested EMI noise reduction technique. The applied reduction method is low pass filtering, the internal layer placement for high speed video data line and optimization of the system ground condition. the manufactured system improved about 2 ~ 20[dB] margin for EMI limit 40[dBuV/m] at 30 ~ 230[MHz] and 47[dBuV/m] at 230 ~ 1000[MHz].

In this paper, the structure of the Aladdin system was modeled by Petri nets for performance evaluation of 40G bps class Aladdin system which was developed in ETRI as the high-speed DDoS defensive tool. The efficiency analysis of the system architecture according to the input traffic of the Aladdin system was performed based on the modeling.
A Study on Drowsy Driving Detection using SURF

In this paper, we propose a drowsy driver detection system with a novel eye state detection method that is adaptive to various vehicle environment such as glasses, light and so forth using SURF(Speed Up Robust Feature) which can extract quickly local features from images. Also the performance of eye state detection is improved as individual three eye-state templates of each driver can be made using Bayesian inference. The experimental results under various environment with average 98.1% and 96.1% detection rate in the daytime and at night respectively and those in the opened ZJU database with average 97.8% detection rate show that the proposed method outperforms the current state-of-the-art.
