A Study on Method to Decide Location to Install Integrated Standard Controller Utilizing Centroid Method

Since logical ground and method to deduct location to install Integrated Standard Controller under development to combine physically and functionally multiple enclosures of controllers for various ITS equipments on streets into one enclosure, there are much difficulty to apply it to site. Particularly we need to establish standardized methodology to deduct optimal location to integrate individual controllers installed dispersedly on streets such as node part and line part. Accordingly this study has the purpose of suggesting more reasonable and efficient methodology to determine location for Integrated Standard Controller to be developed newly. For this, new solution has been searched by using centroid which is utilized to decide facility location in urban planning. As the result of analysis, central point among centroid, in which equal connection to each equipment is possible is proved to be the most reasonable and correct coordinate and zone is proposed as installation location through designating coordinate system. The methodology suggested by this study seems to have high degree of utilization in site according to expansion of integrated standard controller market.
Demand Estimation of Car-sharing Service Using Web-site Reservation Requesting Log Data

Currently, there are increasing demand for researches on the development of car-sharing operating strategy. In order to carry out the research, demand for car-sharing is required. However, since previous researches only adopted performance data or demand derived from several assumptions, spilled demand has been spotted due to lack of available cars. For this reason, we plan to suggest the way to estimate the value including spilled demand which has been spotted previously based on the record of utilization on the website of operating company, actual company providing car-sharing service. In the case of `LH Happycar Service`, difference between estimated demand and record of utilization is about twice the difference between estimated demand and record of inquiry. Especially, it is found that service rate does not go above once it reaches to its maximum rate because it cannot satisfy additional demands. In short, when we evaluate the demand for individual station based on the record of utilization only, it would be possible to underestimate the demand especially for the station at full capacity.
Short-term Railway Passenger Demand Forecasting by SARIMA Model

This study is a fundamental research to suggest a forecasting model for short-term railway passenger demand focusing on major lines (Gyeungbu, Honam, Jeonla, Janghang, Jungang) of Saemaeul rail and Mugunghwa rail. Also the author tried to verify the potential application of the proposed models. For this study, SARIMA model considering characteristics of seasonal trip is basically used, and daily mean forecasting models are independently constructed depending on weekday/weekend in order to consider characteristics of weekday/weekend trip and a legal holiday trip. Furthermore, intervention events having an impact on using the train such as introduction of new lines or EXPO are reflected in the model to increase reliability of the model. Finally, proposed models are confirmed to have high accuracy and reliability by verifying predictability of models. The proposed models of this research will be expected to utilize for establishing a plan for short-term operation of lines.
A Study on the Operational Results of SMART Highway Test-bed

This study addressed the process to construct, operate, verify the test beds, which had been equipped with a variety of core technologies such as WAVE, Road-Radar, Smart Tolling developed by Smart Highway Project. We have met our research goals, but there were limitations to secure the performance and user feedback because of small scale and short operating time. So, we will enhance user safety, convenience and comfort by accumulating and analyzing big data then improving testbeds and related technologies through subsequent research projects for a long time.
An Effects of Signal Phase Plan on the Traffic Signal Operation of 4-legged Intersection

This study analysis traffic phase order alternatives to maximize throughput. According to theoretical analysis alternative2(EW: left turn after through, NS: through after left turn) and alternative5(EW: through after left turn, NS: left turn after through) can minimize the maximum delay. Both alternatives split the phase that have the same destination link under the whole cycle length. This shows that phase order alternative can effect to the fully saturated intersection. In side of simulation analysis by microscopic traffic simulator PTV VISSIM F 7.0, each phase order alternatives can`t effect throughput under the non saturated condition. However under the saturated condition, the average controlled delay of the intersection has been changed by phase order alternatives. The simulation analysis shows that alternative2 and alternative5 increase throughput 3.8% to 5.1% under the saturated condition.
Calculation of Passenger Car Equivalents on National Highway using Time Headway

PCE(Passenger Car Equivalents) is used to analysis of road capacity and LOS(Level of Service). In this study calculates PCE by number of lane and 12 vehicle type by MOLIT(Minister of Land, Infra Structure and Transport) using individual vehicle data. The results of the calculation, PCEs are increased when high vehicle classification level, many number of lanes and weekend. Heavy vehicle factors are smaller than KHCM on 4, 6 lane. Also, In this study estimates of PCE variation model by heavy vehicle percentage. Impact of Heavy vehicles on PCEs is the most sensitive on 2 lane. The results of the study, heavy vehicles low impact on PCE on multi-lane and business trips are a little in weekend.
A Study on the Key Factors Affecting Travel Time Budget for Elderly Pedestrians

Nowadays the issue of aging society has received considerable critical attention, especially in transportation planning and demand forecasting. This study identified the factors related to travel time budget for elderly by purpose using seemingly unrelated regression model (SUR model). The SUR model is suitable when error terms of each equation are assumed to be correlated across the equations in terms of travel time budget which is constant in 2 hours per day commonly. The results showed that elderly`s travel time budget was affected by individual, household, urban facility and transportation service. The leisure travel comprised a large proportion of total travel time and had a positive relationship with elderly, sports, religious facilities. Moreover, the elderly who had low income or unemployed person had low frequency of social activity such as leisure, shopping and business. This study can provide a comprehensive implications of forecasting the future travel demand and analyzing the travel behavior.
Bandwidth Broadening for the GPS Microstrip Patch Antenna

Enhanced bandwidths of the GPS microstrip patch antennas applied by a Wilkinson power divider and a quadrature hybrid were compared. The square patch was designed, and fed by the two port probes for the circuit application. The Wilkinson power divider and quadrature hybrid circuit were designed, and applied to the patch antenna. The designed patch and two circuits were implemented on the FR4 board, and combined together. The measurement of the bandwidth within a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 2: 1 were 36.5% (1,200~1,775 MHz) in the case of the Wilkinson power divider and 29.84% (1,230~1,700 MHz) in the case of the quadrature hybrid. Axial ratios (AR) in 3dB were 17.14% bandwidth (1,360~1,630 MHz) and 15.87% bandwidth (1,400~1,650 MHz), respectively. The application of the Wilkinson power divider is wider than that of the quadrature hybrid. The peak gains in the anechoic chamber at the GPS center frequency were measured as 2.84 dBi and 2.75 dBi, respectively.
Link Budget of WAVE Communication System for a Reliable ITS Service under Highway Environments

The era of intelligent transportation system(ITS) has been arrived by applying information and communication technology(ICT) to the traffic. One of these technological advances is a wireless communication technology for a high speed vehicle to be connected to an infrastructure(V2I). A variety of road traffic safety services and operator comfort services are being developed by means of WAVE(Wireless Access in a Vehicular Environment) based on IEEE802.11p Standard. In this paper, the link budget is analyzed to provide a reliable quality of these ITS services. Log-distance model and two-ray model is employed for the wave propagation path loss model which is adequate for a highway environment. Reliable cell coverage is suggested for ITS services from the link budget.
A Driver`s Driving Behavior Measurement using Smart Phone

In recent days, a Connected Car has caught an attention of the motor companies and various industrial institutes such as communication company. An automobile is regarded as a device and has been developed as an interactive system because the system is connected with various device. This drives a new business item, too. As a new automatic car technology is emerging, a new type of car accident is appeared, too. So, many researches for preventing car accident comes from the driver`s are carried out in many car related institutes. In this paper, we study a driver`s driving workload and develop an algorithm that measures the driver`s driving behavior. We can see that the developed algorithm runs well by the experiment of road test. This results affects various road condition, driver`s driving behavior and load that reflects the driver`s status.
