Analysis of Radio Propagation Environment of Busan Area for Terrestrial D-TV Service

Characteristics of digital broadcasting are multi-channel, high-definition and multi-function. especially, multi-function is enable us to do a variety of services except for an image and a voice. This paper, therefore, is analyzed propagation environment in Busan into ETRI model application about 지상파 DMB service. It takes to be simulated in Busan area around the mountains area and high building. So it measures the electric field strength in standards. Distribution pattern are similar with mutually in the 이론 and real measurement. Even areas are almost the same, but urban areas and mountains are different with mutually. Therefore, we conclude that ETRI propagation model and theoretical modeling in a free space in Busan area is not suitable.
On the Application of MIMO systems for railway environment

In this paper, we examine the MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) system in the point of mobile communication that is used for railway environment. First, under the radio environment, wireless channel characteristics are analyzed between moving train and base station, both assuming track side base stations and non-track side base stations. Next, the paper introduces the MIMO system which can be used to solve the problem of performance degradation in railway environment, and analyzes its performance in terms of channel capacity and diversity. We especially compares open-loop scheme with closed loop scheme at the diversity and analyses their performance according to antenna correlation. Finally, the we presents experimental result from the ESCORT project that was studied in railway environment with the MIMO system.
Skew Compensation and Text Extraction of The Traffic Sign in Natural Scenes

This paper shows how to compensate the skew from the traffic sign included in the natural image and extract the text. The research deals with the Process related to the array image. Ail the process comprises four steps. In the first fart we Perform the preprocessing and Canny edge extraction for the edge in the natural image. In the second pan we perform preprocessing and postprocessing for Hough Transform in order to extract the skewed angle. In the third part we remove the noise images and the complex lines, and then extract the candidate region using the features of the text. In the last part after performing the local binarization in the extracted candidate region, we demonstrate the text extraction by using the differences of the features which appeared between the tett and the non-text in order to select the unnecessary non-text. After carrying out an experiment with the natural image of 100 Pieces that includes the traffic sign. The research indicates a 82.54 percent extraction of the text and a 79.69 percent accuracy of the extraction, and this improved more accurate text extraction in comparison with the existing works such as the method using RLS(Run Length Smoothing) or Fourier Transform. Also this research shows a 94.5 percent extraction in respect of the extraction on the skewed angle. That improved a 26 percent, compared with the way used only Hough Transform. The research is applied to giving the information of the location regarding the walking aid system for the blind or the operation of a driverless vehicle
A study of signal control with COSMOS on National Highway

The performance of the National Highway is raised, but the capacity of the signalized intersection on the National Highway is low. It's operated by TOD(Time Of Day) mode. To evaluate of the performance of COSMOS(Cycle, Offset, Split Model for Seoul), a real time traffic adaptive signal control system, on the National Highway, studied volume, travel time and queuing length at TOD control and TRC(Traffic responsive Control). Consequently, the average travel speed at TRC is high
km/h then the average travel speed at TOD control. And te queuing length at TRC is low
then the queuing length at TOD control.
Field Test Analysis of Electronic Toll Collection System, Hi-Pass

This study introduces the process of the field test of ETCS that has been performed by six enterprises for selecting the type of ETCS that will be applied to the internal tall roads. The main communication modes of six enterprises are active RF(radio wave)type and IR(optical wave)type. In this study, communication modes and systems, which are being used by each enterprises, have been compared and analyzed. Besides this, the configuration and the basic performances of the system have been checked. After those, the contents of the field performance test classified by the items of the test and the results of the test, finally, have been analyzed. Through analyzing the test, it is found that an enterprise using IR type and two enterprises using RF type satisfied the standards of the test and the others failed to meet the standards. However, the enterprises seem to be becoming stable by a large number of tests and the effort for improving from general point of view. Although the methods of performance evaluation in this field test considered enough patterns that are used in the present highway or Hi-Pass, there might possibly be some problems in the results because Korea Highway Corporation had decided the method and the number of times of the test according to their own standards about the various situations that can happen. Therefore, it will be needed to develop the method of standards for testing the performance which can be correspond with driver's behavior that can actually happen on the highway or the methods of transportation management.
Estimation of value of freeway traffic information using Contingent Valuation Method

On this research, Contingent Valuation Method which is universally applicable to non market goods and being developed in a field of the environmental economics is used to estimate appropriate value of freeway traffic information. Imaginary scenario is designed to estimate appropriate value of freeway traffic information and major in traffic-related field is used & man-to-man interview carried out to enhance a reliance of questionnaire. Open-ended question and a way of payment card are in use each other. make use of Multiple Regression Model in Contingent Valuation Method of traffic information and find an effect on the value of the traffic information. As a result of research, intention to pay for usage per information is regarded as a somewhat higher but monthly cost is lower than they have to. It is concluded that value and usefulness of the individual information is nod in approval but a majority of user's recognition that publish information must be provided free of charge lowers intention of payment.
The Design and Implementation of PLDRO(Phase Locked Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) Using Dual Phase Lock Loop Structure

In this work, A PLDRO (Phase Locked Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) which can be used for the wireless communication systems fur MMC(Microwave Micro Cell) and ITS wireless communication system is designed. A different approach to the PLDRO structure is applied for phase locking by dual phase lock loop structure. The proposed dual loop PLDRO generates the output power of 0 dBm at 18.7 GHz and has the characteristics of a phase noise of -80 dBc/Hz at 1kHz, -83 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset frequency from carrier frequency
A Study on Backing Up the Bus Stop Line according to the Left Turn at Intersection on the Median Bus Lane

July 1, 2004 Seoul Metropolitan city is operating the Median Bus Lane System on Gangnam Main Street, Seongsan-Susaek-ro (Road) and Dobong- Mia-ro (Road) as one of the systematic reorganizations in public transportation. It has been assumed that there was an improvement in the speed of bus considering that the Median Bus Lane System practiced on Cheonho-daero (Main Street) since 1996 have had 35km/h on the average. If the Median Bus Lane goes into effect, there is a problem with the left turn on the crossroad. The buses go on the existing first lane so that the left fuming cars cannot help but turn left on the second lane. In case that the Median Bus Lane is put into practice, the left turn on the crossroad should not be allowed. However, if the left turn is not permitted on the crossroads in the aforementioned main streets, neighboring residents will complain about it and there will be some difficulties in finding other detour. On the premise that the prevalent left turn on the crossroads is allowed while the Median Bus Lane is being put into practice, this study suggests the separation of a stop line between buses and other vehicles as a way of fuming left in a safe manner and a way to calculate the appropriate distance.
A GaAs Micromachined Millimeter-wave Lowpass Filter Using Microstrip Stepped-Impedance Hairpin Resonator

In this paper, microstrip stepped-impedance hairpin resonator (SIR) lowpass filter f.PF) by surface rnicromachining on GaAs substrate is sugsested. This filter has the advantages of compact side, easy fabrication, and sharp cutoff frequency response. The new SIR LPF shows the 3 dB passband of dc to 33 GHz, the insertion loss of 0.82 dB, and the return loss of better than 17 dB up to 25.57 GHz. This filter is useful for many microwave system applications.
Fabrication and Application of BIS Base Station Antenna in Jeon-Ju City

This paper describes the design, fabrication, and measurement of a omni-directional beam pattern antenna for base station of the BIS which is one of the ITS services. The antenna is installed on the signal lamp of important crossroad and provides the wireless communication link between vehicles and RSE(Road Side Equipment). The required characteristics of BIS base station antenna are omni-directional beam pattern and specific beam pattern by the road and install environment and installed place of OBU. To get omni-directional beam pattern of antenna, Array configuration and OMA are applied. The measured results of fabricated antenna are as follows; return loss of 640MHz by -10 dB, and a gain of 10.3dBi. It is found that the measured beam patterns are similar to design results
Implementation of Automatic Gateway System Using the DSRC

CVO(Commercial Vehicle Operations) of Intelligent Transport Systems is the system to manage effciently cargo distribution as providing at real time the information of cargo location and situation through nS and GPS technology. In this paper, we proposed the Gate Automation System of harbors among AVI/AEI. To implement this system, we use the DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) which adopts an wireless communication between RSE(Road-side Equipment) and OBE(on-Board Equipment) on a vehicle. When constructing the automation gateway system of harbors, the business application ability are reviewed practically and the logistics facilities to be constructed in the near future nay use this paper results according to the international standard and it could help complete integrated logistics system.
A Study on Electromagnetic Environment of Marine Ship

Recently, the accidents on the sea have arisen due to the increase of the nautical traffic and the digitization of equipments for marine. Therefore, IMO(International Maritime Organization) have provided the recommendation of EMI and EMS for radio communication and equipments of marine from SOLAS convention at July 1st 2002. In this paper, we measured EMC environment on the Hanbada, which is Korea Maritime University training ship, for basic EMC environment of ship. The measuring point was Bridge and Engine Control Room of the ship, we measured at the test point that was set at random. Measured Band is from 30 MHz to 2 GHz, polarization measurement is processed both vertical and horizontal polarization. We analysed the results in consideration of permissible criteria.
A Study on the Optimal Aggregation Interval for Travel Time Estimation on the Rural Arterial Interrupted Traffic flow

In this paper, we conduct the research about optimal aggregation interval of travel time data on interrupted traffic flow and verify the reliability of AVI collected data by using car plate matching method in RTMS for systematic collection and analysis of link travel time data on interrupted traffic flow rural arterial. We perform Kolmosorov-Smirnov test on AVT collected sample data and on entire population data, and conclude that the sample data does not represent pure random sampling and hence includes sample collection error. We suggest that additional review is necessary to investigate the effectiveness of AVI collected sample data as link representative data. We also develop statistical model by applying two estimation techniques namely point estimation and interval estimation for calculating optimal aggregation interval. We have implemented our model and determine that point estimate is preferable over interval estimate for exactly selecting and deciding optimal aggregation interval. Our final conclusion is that 5-minute aggregation interval is optimal to estimate travel time in RTMS, as is currently being used our investigation is based on AVI data collected from Yang-ji to Yong-in
