The purpose of this research is to investigate service item to develop archived VDS(Vehicle Detecting System) data user services. Through the review of related studies and literature and investigation of the current application status of the vehicle detector data, the service item from the historical detector data were identified. The relative importance of the identified service item was measured based on the application purpose, usage and frequency of application.
Link Travel Time Estimation and Evaluation of Applicability to Traffic Information Collection Based RFID Probe Data

This paper aims at testing the applicability of RFID (radio frequency identification) based link travel time estimation algorithm in urban street settings in Jeju island Korea. For this, we developed algorithm and compared link travel times derived from the RFID probe based algorithm with those from (already available) GPS based link travel time estimation algorithm and with the actual link travel times from survey. RFID readers are composed of master reader and slave reader and the participating passenger cars were supposed to be equipped with RFID tag inside the vehicle. The data were sent to traffic information center and we used those data in comparison. The algorithm produced link travel times in a successful manner and the accuracy of those link travel times was about 88%. For the same link segments, the accuracy of GPS based link travel times was 93%. The t-test showed that both RFID and GPS based link travel times were not different in accuracy from statistical point of view. The applicability of RFID was tested successfully and the algorithm proposed seemed to be used in similar urban settings. Some limits and future research agenda have also been presented.
Preliminary Study on Traffic Information Broadcasting Using a Gadget Framework

Social cost has been increased by traffic accident and congestion since early 1990s. The construction of roadways and railways has been suggested as countermeasures. However, ITS has finally introduced as a logical solution because the expenses of infrastructures are costly. The data collection field has developed through numerous researches and pilot projects. However the information provision field does need a lot of study. The traffic information broadcasting whether simple traffic information or the value-added information has been available via radio, television and internet which does not require tremendous investment compared with data collection stage. Therefore, this study reviews the suitability of the gadget service usually offered by window vista users which is the result of the development of technology and the changes of internet environment. It also suggests to using the RSS(Really Simple Syndication) manner as a basic method to provide the traffic information based on the needs of user in order to enhance the usability of traffic information. For this, this study analyzes the current methods and techniques of traffic information service which is widely available by local governments and companies and suggest possible changes and methods in order to provide Gadget-based service to the public.
A Method of Generating Traffic Travel Information Based on the Loop Detector Data from COSMOS

Many urban cities deployed ITS technologies to improve the efficiency of traffic operation and management including a real-time franc control system (i.e., COSMOS). The system adopted loop detector system to collect traffic information such as volume, occupancy time, degree of saturation, and queue length. This paper investigated the applicability of detector information within COSMOS to represent the congestion level of the links. Initially, link travel times obtained from the field study were related with each of detector information. Results showed that queue length was highly correlated with link travel time, and direct link travel time estimation using the spot speed data produced high estimation error rates. From this analysis, a procedure was proposed to estimate congestion level of the links using both degree of saturation and queue length information.
Computation of Optimal Path for Pedestrian Reflected on Mode Choice of Public Transportation in Transfer Station

As function and scale of the transit center get larger, the efficient guidance system in the transit center is essential for transit users in order to find their efficient routes. Although there are several studies concerning optimal path for the road, but insufficient studies are executed about optimal path inside the building. Thus, this study is to develop the algorithm about optimal path for car owner from the basement parking lot to user's destination in the transfer station. Based on Dijkstra algorithm which calculate horizontal distance, several factors such as fatigue, freshness, preference, and required time in using moving devices are objectively computed through rank-sum and arithmetic-sum method. Moreover, optimal public transportation is provided for transferrer in the transfer station by Neuro-Fuzzy model which is reflected on people's tendency about public transportation mode choice. Lastly, some scenarios demonstrate the efficiency of optimal path algorithm for pedestrian in this study. As a result of verification the case through the model developed in this study is 75 % more effective in the scenario reflected on different vertical distance, and
more effective in the scenario considering different horizontal distance, respectively.
Study on Revitalizing Commercial Freight Vehicles Using Freight Transport Mode Selection

The most important problem in logistic activities may be to decrease the transportation efficiency due to the traffic congestion in urban areas. The traffic congestion reduces the average travel speed of freight vehicles, and then increases the travel time. These problems can lead the logistic system to be inefficient. As a result, it causes an increase of transportation costs. In addition, the increased cost is a main barrier for the transition to an advanced logistic system. This study focuses on the analysis of key factors choosing commercial freight vehicles using Logistic regression-analysis with RP (Revealed Preference) data to solve the increase of private freight cars and transportation costs. Additionally, this paper presents policies to promote good use of commercial freight vehicles based on the results of this study.
A Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication Protocol Scheme for Forwarding Emergency Information in Intelligent Cars Transportation Systems

Inter-vehicular communication suffers from a variety of the problem on the road, resulting in large delay in propagating emergency warning. An energy depletion as well as a transmission delay may induced by traffic accident. A transmission delay are caused by direct contention from nodes that can hear each other or indirect contention from nodes that can not hear each other, but simultaneously transmit to the same destination. A variety of works have been researched to solve the transmission delay and energy consumption problem in intelligent cars transportation systems. We consider a vehicle-to-vehicle communication protocol for disseminating an emergency information that include end-to-end and energy efficient transmission. In this paper, we propose A vehicle-to-vehicle communication protocol scheme for dissemination emergency information in intelligent cars communication based on IEEE 802.15.3 wireless personal area networks. Results from a simulation study reveal that our scheme can achieves low latency in delivering emergency warnings, and efficiency in consuming energy in stressful road scenarios.
A Study on Effective Analysis Method of ITS(A Case of SUWON)

In order to solve the traffic problem which comes to be serious at day, the impotance of Intelligent Transport Systems(ITS) that accomplish information gathering, information processing, information offering with up-to-date scientific techniques is coming to be high. But many local self-government group want to solve the traffic problems with introduction of ITS, however, it is a actual condition where the systematic effective analysis is insufficient. This study establishes the methodology of effective analysis as introduction of ITS, which refers to the inside and outside of the country instance. And then, this research accomplishes direct and indirect effective analysis with the case study. As a result of SUWON ITS introduction effect analysis, the travel speed of TRC mode is increased 31%, and the delay of TRC mode is diminished 43.9% than before introducing case. Most of the citizen felt the improvement effect of ITS system operation, and the majority wanted the expansion of the ITS system in survey. The analysis of economic result that B/C ratio is 5.12. So, The the effect and economic propriety of the ITS enterprise appeared with the fact that it is sufficient.
A New Tempo Feature Extraction Based on Modulation Spectrum Analysis for Music Information Retrieval Tasks

This paper proposes an effective tempo feature extraction method for music information retrieval. The tempo information is modeled by the narrow-band temporal modulation components, which are decomposed into a modulation spectrum via joint frequency analysis. In implementation, the tempo feature is directly extracted from the modified discrete cosine transform coefficients, which is the output of partial MP3(MPEG 1 Layer 3) decoder. Then, different features are extracted from the amplitudes of modulation spectrum and applied to different music information retrieval tasks. The logarithmic scale modulation frequency coefficients are employed in automatic music emotion classification and music genre classification. The classification precision in both systems is improved significantly. The bit vectors derived from adaptive modulation spectrum is used in audio fingerprinting task That is proved to be able to achieve high robustness in this application. The experimental results in these tasks validate the effectiveness of the proposed tempo feature.
Stubbed Branch-Line Compact Balun

A new impedance transforming balun scheme is presented based on the branch-line structure with stubs on the vertical branches. The stubbed vertical branch eliminates the unwanted even mode output and provides only the balanced output of the balun with opposite phase. Also, the use of stubs reduces the branch lengths by two times the stub length, which is useful for the compact balun design.
Design of Folded Monopole Internal Antenna for KPCS Mobile Phone Handset

KPCS internal antenna in this paper, is designed and fabricated using the theory based on the folded monopole antenna. I propose folded monopole internal antenna which has high gain low profile structure with easy installation into the handset of mobile phone. Design frequency is 1.8 GHz that is a center frequency of Korea PCS frequency band, and the impedance variances due to change of antenna structure as a length and width are simulated. Multi-band Folded Monopole Internal Antenna for Mobile Handset Applications

In this paper, a multi-band folded planar monopole internal antenna for mobile handset applications is proposed. The proposed antenna has multi-resonances, which is different from a conventional folded monopole antenna, and it provides a wide bandwidth at high frequency bands. The measured impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 3) is 180 MHz and 1880 MHz in lower and higher frequency bands, respectively. The proposed antenna can effectively cover most wireless communication bands including CDMA, GSM, GPS, DCS, PCS, and W-CDMA, WiBro and S-DMB.
The Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer of Parallel Type Using the Differential Quantization

In this paper, a new method to reduce the size of ROM in the direct digital frequency synthesizer(DDFS) is proposed. And we design the phase-to-sine converter using the phase accumulator of parallel type for generating the high frequency. The new ROM compression method can reduce the ROM size by using the two ROM. The quantized value of sine is saved by the quantized-ROM(Q-ROM) and the differential ROM(D-ROM). So the total size of the ROM in the proposed DDFS is significantly reduced compared to the original ROM. The ROM compression ratio of 67.5% is achieved by this method. Also, the power consumption is decreased according to the ROM size reduction.
