Indoor Positioning System Using Fingerprinting Technique

According to the ubiquitous trend, the needs for the context based application service have been increased. These services take on Location Based Service which is based on the current location of users. It is widely used that localization techniques use GPS or ground wave and more efficient and accurate methods have been studied. Recently, not only services which targeted outdoor but also services which targeted indoor, for example home services and facility guidance of the building come into the spotlight. In case of the outdoor positioning area, COTH (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) has been released and used but relatively it doesn't produce an outcome in the indoor positioning area. Therefore, this paper Proposes the indoor positioning technique using wireless LAN (Local Area Network) which is one of the widely used wireless communication technique. It analyzes the typical WLAN location positioning methodology has been studied and their advantage and disadvantage also suggests how to design and implement the specific WLAN positioning system. In addition, it suggests new methods that progress the accuracy of the existing systems and improve the efficient computation.
A Deterministic User Optimal Traffic Assignment Model with Route Perception Characteristics of Origins and Destinations for Advanced Traveler Information System

User travel behavior is based on the existence of complete traffic information in deterministic user optimal principle by Wardrop(1952). According to deterministic user optimal principle, users choose the optimal route from origin to destination and they change their routes arbitrarily in order to minimize travel cost. In this principle, users only consider travel time as a factor to take their routes. However, user behavior is not determined by only travel time in actuality. Namely, the models that reflect only travel time as a route choice factor could give irrational travel behavior results. Therefore, the model is necessary that considers various factors including travel time, transportation networks structure and traffic information. In this research, more realistic deterministic optimal traffic assignment model is proposed in the way of route recognizance behavior. This model assumes that when users decide their routes, they consider many factors such as travel time, road condition and traffic information. In addition, route recognizance attributes is reflected in this suggested model by forward searching method and backward searching method with numerical formulas and algorithms.
Determination of Control Time Point for Internal Metering Policy Application within COSMOS Environments

RT/IMPOST is an effective algorithm that can realize real-time internal metering policy (IMP) using queue information from loop detector and signal control strategies. In this paper, an investigation was made to adopt the IMP methodology within COSMOS environments in terms of communication environment and control time point. Through the analysis of the communication environment of COSMOS and communication and control steps in RT/IMPOST, a set of applicable alternative were developed and evaluated. Then, one of the alternatives was selected, and performance of the alternative was compared with RT/IMPOST system using a simulation technique. Results showed that two techniques produced the similar performance. Therefore, the method suggested in this paper was evaluated as a practically viable alternative.
Cast-Shadow Elimination of Vehicle Objects Using Backpropagation Neural Network

The moving object tracking in vision based observation using video uses difference method between GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) based background and present image. In the case of racking object using binary image made by threshold, the object is merged not by object information but by Cast-Shadow. This paper proposed the method that eliminates Cast-Shadow using backpropagation Neural Network. The neural network is trained by abstracting feature value form training image of object range in 10-movies and Cast-Shadow range. The method eliminating Cast-Shadow is based on the method distinguishing shadow from binary image, its Performance is better(16.2%, 38.2%, 28.1%, 22.3%, 44.4%) than existing Cast-Shadow elimination algorithm(SNP, SP, DNM1, DNM2, CNCC).
A Study on Functionality Evaluation Method of Real-time Traffic Signal Control System

Nowadays the installation of Real-time Traffic Signal Control system is gradually spread, in order to solve the traffic problem which become serious. The most important thing are reliability of data collection and functionality of system in Real-time Traffic Signal Control System. But, the evaluation for those introduction system are defective after system constructing. So, many systems are not working properly to those systems's primarily purpose. This study is executed expansion through field test and analysis which check performance and advise of system operation. It has purpose to establish of the maintenance system of Real-time Traffic Signal Control system. As the result of analysis, we could find the several problems in this study. So, we also could guess that the effective maintenance systems of the Real-time Traffic Signal Control system is necessary within few years.
Car License Plate Extraction Based on Detection of Numeral Regions

In this paper we propose an algorithm to extract the license plate regions from Korean car images. The idea of this paper is that we first find the four digits in the input car image and then segment the plate region using the digit information. Out method has advantage of segmenting simultaneously the plate regions and four digits regions. The first step finds and groups the connected components with proper sizes as candidate digits. The second step applies an serial alignment condition to find out probable 4-digits. In the third step, we recognize the candidate digits and assign the confidence values to each of them. The final step extracts the license plate region which has the highest confidence value. We used the Perfect Metrics classification algorithm to estimate the confidence. In our experiment, we got 97.23% and 95.45% correct detection rates, 0.09% and 0.11% false detection rates for 4,600 daytime and 264 nighttime images, respectively.
X-Band Oscillator Using SIW Cavity Resonator Based on Planar Circuit Technique

The substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structure can be approximated as the rectangular waveguide using common dielectric substrate with via-holes. To realize reflection-type resonator,
microstrip line can be used for coupling with the center plane of the cavity. The oscillator is designed to operate at 9.45 GHz using the reflection-type SIW cavity resonator. The phase noise of oscillator shows -98.1dBc/Hz at 100 KHz offset. In experiment, the reflection type SIW cavity resonator improves the loaded quality factor making the low phase noise oscillator possible. Due to the entirely planar structure of this resonator, this technique can also be adequate in oscillator applications for a low cost and low phase noise performance.
The Implementation of an IPv4 over IPv6 Tunnel of the DSTM for Next-Generation Internet Service

In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm that assigns single temporary IPv4 address and port number to improve efficiency of IPv4 address that is allocated in DSTM service. And, we have analyzed the elementary functions for DSTM and have designed the functional modules. Also, we have implemented the DTI interface for encapsulation and decapsulation of IPv6 packets. The performance analysis and comparison are investigated whether the appropriate interworking service is possible or not. Our observation results show that the performance of IPv4 over IPv6 tunneling is suitable to DSTM service due to the reduction of delay by eliminating checksum calculations in the header of IPv6 tunneling.
Frequency-domain Based BPM-UWB Receiver with Channel Compensation

In this paper, we propose a Sequency domain based BPM-UWB receiver compensating for distortion in the multi-path channel. We give a mathematical derivation for the proposed receiver which exploits a matched filter theory for optimum reception. We also analyze the system performance and present the simulation results that show the performance enhancement of the proposed system.
Design of Communication Protocol for Developing WISDOM(Wireless Interface Signal Control System for Dynamic and Optimal Management)

The existing transportation systems is emerged as a major obstacle to solve the problems such as a traffic jam and the increasing cost for a distribution and a traffic safety. In hun, ITS targeting intellectual vehicles and transportation infrastructure like road and signals is getting more important and the standards of ITS wireless communication is also getting attention. New traffic control strategies are being developed to utilize real-time traffic information collected by detection method using ITS wireless technology. Especially, DSRC system is being expanded wit ETCS and the use of OBU is spreading. These infrastructures will have much influence on ITS industry and a profound study on the method of utilizing a present infrastructure is going on in various fields. The optimum traffic signal control system using quality real-time information through these infrastructure is under development and so is WISDOM. Accordingly, this paper proposes communication protocol utilizing DSRC to collect real-time traffic information in WISDOM.
A Study on the Analysis of Service-linkage between the u-City and ITS

Ubiquitous City (u-City) and Intelligent Transport System (ITS) provide services, which are different from each other yet have close relation to each other partially. Thus, since a redundancy issue occurs or it is difficult to efficiently provide services depending on the relation degree, it is required to analyze the relation of services between the two systems and to elicit a priority. A table of relation among the services was created and the relation degree was analyzed by performing a survey for experts. As a result of calculating the total marks by accumulating and summing up the survey results, the incident management service and u-accident/calamity and disaster service of the ITS had the lowest value. The project priority was as follows: The basic principle of the project was that services with high relation degrees shall be worked on first. The services were categorized in each step and packaging the services could result in the synergy effect. This study is significant since it analyzed the relation degree between u-City and ITS and proposed schemes for efficiently working on the project by eliciting the priority of the services based on the analysis results.
Methodologies of Qualitative Survey and Analysis for ITS Projects

Since the ITS project of Gwacheon city has been implemented in 1998, feasibility analysis for various ITS projects has been conducted in quantitative and qualitative aspects. However, ITS operation manual that describes the universal standards comprehensive methodology for survey and analysis for the qualitative effects of the ITS. Although it its difficult to measure the qualitative elements, the effectiveness and achievement of ITS project can be directly evaluated from the user survey. A comprehensive methodology proposed in this paper includes the design and implementation of the qualitative survey, the procedure of data analysis, the evaluation, and proposing the enhancements. The proposed methodology that take both quantitative and qualitative aspects into account, therefore, can lead the accurate and effective assessment of ITS projects.
A Study on Traffic Accident Characteristics of Freeway Work Zones

In these days, frequency of constructions on e freeway are increasing according as growing of the importance of e road maintenance and the road management. Work zone on the freeway where vehicles pass with high speed needs control method of lane closure and construction equipment. Because there are seldom researches in domestic study about reflecting characteristics of domestic road, sometimes we have applied for foreign cases to our traffic circumstance but it is not proper to apply for standard of other countries in our cases. foreign nation has different country square, condition of road, and level of people mind. Therefore, this study shows traffic accident characteristics in freeway work zones in Korea. At first, this study collected traffic accident data which include for 3 years
in the whole freeway in Korea and then divided the data to five parts - level of the accident, type of the construction work, type of the accident, reason of the accident, according to geometric. According to comparing with non-work zones accident, this study found traffic accident characteristics in freeway work zones in Korea and suggested some alternative ideas for safety of work zones.
