The Bus Delay Time Prediction Using Markov Chain

Bus delay time is occurred as the result of traffic condition and important factor to predict bus arrival time. In this paper, transition probability matrixes between bus stops are made by using Markov Chain and it is predicted bus delay time with them. As the results of study, it is confirmed a possibility of adapting the assumption which it has same bus transition probability between stops through paired-samples T-test and overcame the limitation of exiting studies in case there is no scheduled bus arrival time for each stops with using bus interval time. Therefore it will be possible to predict bus arrival time with Markov Chain.
Development of Customer Satisfaction Model of Providing VMS Traffic Information

At present, an intelligent transport system (ITS) is being actively introduced as an alternative plan to solve various transport problems, and a traffic information provision service, a field of ITS, is being provided to users through diverse media. However, the evaluation of how useful the traffic information provided to the road users is limited to a simple questionnaire, and the systematic evaluation about what factors affect the usefulness of traffic information has not been realized. Therefore, it is impossible to calculate user convenience occurring due to traffic information, This paper aimed to develop an index to evaluate user satisfaction levels with traffic information and develop a user satisfaction level model. A result of establishing a user satisfaction level model by executing a questionnaire survey for the analysis object of variable message sign (VMS), a representative information provision medium, showed that 'desire satisfaction', 'trust', 'understanding', and 'efficiency' have an effect. Of them, the 'understanding' showed the highest level, so it was seen that, in case of VMS, how easily the character, figure, expression, etc. provided in the information was understood by users has the biggest effect on the satisfaction level of the information. The next levels of effects on the satisfaction was in the order of 'user trust', 'efficiency', and 'desire satisfaction'.
Design for Automated Roadside Parking Management System

One way to increase public revenue from public parking spaces is by improving the way parking meters gather data. Improved parking meters have evolved that increase car park revenue as well as efficiency in service and operations. It provides parking meters with the capacity to provide real-time information. This information consist primarily of the status of parking spaces (it indicates which expired metered spaces have parked vehicles.) The technology consists of sensors located at meters that report on their condition (i.e. whether it is working or if it is expired). This information is processed by a microprocessor and then sent via an internal wireless modem to the server. This server then processes the information from all the parking meters and sends it to the public institution in charge of them. This system also provides verification of parking permits. For example, disabled people with special license plates can be automatically approved for parking in designated places.
A Study on the 4D Traffic Condition Board based on a Mash-up Technology

Content used in mashups is typically obtained from a third party source through a public interface or API (web services). Other methods of obtaining content for mashups include Web feeds (e.g. RSS or Atom), and screen scraping. A mashup or meshup Web application has two parts: A new service delivered through a Web page, using its own data and data from other sources. The blended data, made available across the Web through an API or other protocols such as HlTP, RSS, REST, etc. There are many types of mashups, such as consumer mashups, data mashups, and Business Mashups. The most common mashup is the consumer mashup, which are aimed at the general public. Examples include Google Maps, iGuide, and RadioClouds. 4D Wall-map display is data mashups combine similar types of media and information from multiple sources into a single representation. This technology focus data into a single presentation and allow for collaborative action among ITS-related information sources.
Evaluation of Feasibility of PDA-based Traffic Accident Investigation Device

Recently, information-Ievel of the people has been increased with growing IT cutting-edge technology. There is a trend to combine these achievements with information-technology, ubiquitous technology, and mobile technology in the field of transportation. Along with this trend, a PDA-based traffic accident investigation device was developed. This paper established the evaluation method of feasibility test on the PDA device, and performed qualitative and quantitative evaluation as compared with the current practice (manual investigation). Test results showed that traffic accident investigation using the PDA device was faster and more convenient than manual investigation. It is expected that the reliability of accident investigation will be improved by applying this tool with minor modifications.
A Study on Introduction to the Highway Lane Usage Violation Enforcement System

Korean government is managing a system that appoints various type of cars into lanes based on the number of lanes. The institution has been abolished and enacted time and again. This paper analyzes ten sections of express way to clarify the efficiencies of the system. The result shows that violation rate and the number of accident have a positive correlation. This paper suggests regulation of violating cars and controlment by perceiving car registration number for efficient operation of the institution.
Preliminary Study on Actuated Signal Control at Rural Area of Cheon-an City

Recently in Korea, in the case of metropolis, the urban signalized intersections are controlled by traffic information center or ITS center. Cheon-an City also established traffic information center through the 1st.-
3rd. ITS public construction and has managed this center that includes bus information service, traffic information collection and providing service, parking information service, and traffic responsive control system. In the Cheon-an metropolitan traffic signal operation, traffic signal controllers were grouped by the each main traffic flow axes and performed with coordinated signal timing for the signalized arterials, and also cycle and split changed by realtime traffic demands. Cheon-an urban traffic responsive control system was evaluated by intersection delay and speed, then it was verified that the delay decreased and vehicle speed improved. However, the rural signal control system to connect adjacency town was evaluated to have lower status than urban area due to the unimproved TOD (Time of day) plan. Therefore actuated signal control was examined for substitutive control system in isolated signal intersection. The aim of this article is to compare actuated signal control with TOD mode in the rural intersection of Cheon-an and to fine superiority of these two control mode, with evaluation of vehicle delay by using HCM(2000) method and by micro-simulation CORSlM. The result of field test show that actuated signal control gave better performance in delay comparison than the existing TOD signal control. And simulation outcome verified that non-optimized TOD has higher delay than optimized TOD mode, non-optimal actuated mode, and optimal actuated signal control mode. Particularly, these three modes delays had not different values according to the paired sample t-test. This is because small traffic demands were loaded in each links. This suggested actuated signal control is expected to be more effective than TOD mode in some rural isolated intersections which frequently need to survey for traffic volume.
Speech Estimators Based on Generalized Gamma Distribution and Spectral Gain Floor Applied to an Automatic Speech Recognition

This paper presents a speech enhancement technique based on generalized Gamma distribution in order to obtain robust speech recognition performance. For robust speech enhancement, the noise estimation based on a spectral noise floor controled recursive averaging spectral values is applied to speech estimation under the generalized Gamma distribution and spectral gain floor. The proposed speech enhancement technique is based on spectral component, spectral amplitude, and log spectral amplitude. The performance of three different methods is measured by recognition accuracy of automatic speech recognition (ASR).
Dynamic Spectrum Load Balancing for Cognitive Radio in Frequency Domain and Time Domain

As a solution to spectrum under-utilization problem, Cognitive radio (CR) introduces a dynamic spectrum access technology. In the area, one of the most important problems is how secondary users (SUs) should choose between the available channels, which means how to achieve load balancing between channels. We consider spectrum load balancing problem for CR system in frequency domain and especially in time domain. Our objective is to balance the load among the channels and balance the occupied time length of slots for a fixed channel dynamically in order to obtain a user-optimal solution. In frequency domain, we refer to Dynamic Noncooperative Scheme with Communication (DNCOOPC) used in distributed system and a distributed Dynamic Spectrum Load Balancing algorithm (DSLB) is formed based on DNCOOPC. In time domain, Spectrum Load Balancing method with QoS support is proposed based on Dynamic Feed Back theory and Hash Table (SLBDH). The performance of DSLB and SLBDH are evaluated. In frequency domain, DSLB is more efficient compared with existing Compare_And_Balance (CAB) algorithm and gets more throughput compared with Spectrum Load Balancing (SLB) algorithm. Also, DSLB is a fair scheme for all devices. In time domain, SLBDH is an efficient and precise solution compared with Spectrum Load Smoothing (SLS) method.
Flight Model Development of Linearized Channel Amplifier

This paper presents the design and measurement of a flight model for a Ku-Band Linearized Channel Amplifier. All MMICs, Variable Gain Amplifier (VGA), Variable Voltage Attenuator ('.IVA), Branch line Coupler and Detector for Pre-distorter are fabricated using a Thin-Film Hybrid process. The performance of the fabricated module is verified through the radio frequency circuit simulation tool and electrical function test in space environment.
Low-Latency Handover Scheme Using Exponential Smoothing Method in WiBro Networks

Development of high-speed Internet services and the increased supply of mobile devices have become the key factor for the acceleration of ubiquitous technology. WiBro system, formed with lP backbone network, is a MBWA technology which provides high-speed multimedia service in a possibly broader coverage than Wireless LAN can offer. Wireless telecommunication environment needs not only mobility support in Layer 2 but also mobility management protocol in Layer 3 and has to minimize handover latency to provide seamless mobile services. In this paper, we propose a fast cross-layer handover scheme based on signal strength prediction in WiBro environment. The signal strength is measured at regular intervals and future value of the strength is predicted by Exponential Smoothing Method. With the help of the prediction, layer-3 handover activities are able to occur prior to layer-2 handover, and therefore, total handover latency is reduced. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme predicts that future signal level accurately and reduces the total handover latency.
Power Control and DFS Based on Genetic Algorithm in Cognitive Radio System

Cognitive radio is an advanced technology for efficient utilization of under-utilized spectrum via spectrum sensing. CR users should move from current allocating channel to empty channel to avoid the interference to the primary user if the primary user is allocating that channel. Thus, CR system cannot support the CR user's QoS(Quaiity of Service). In this paper, we propose dynamic frequency selection method based on Genetic Algorithm with power control. It is to find the optimization channel for satisfying various CR user's needs with the power control method to minimize the CR user's interference to the primary user. And, we propose the Genetic Algorithm(GA) which determines the best configuration for CR communication systems. The computer simulation results show that the proposed method guaranteed the primary user's decodability and the optimized solution for various channel status.
Study for Improvement and Critical Issues Analysis in the Law for the Ubiquitous City Construction

National government established a new law to solve the problems and to support u-City projects. Nevertheless there are still some issues which are a lack of the contents on national plan, connecting restriction among the communication networks between public institutions, a shortage of funds. This study investigated and analyzes these issues, and proposed some ideas to solve them.
Image Feature Representation Using Code Vectors for Retrieval

The paper presents an algorithm which uses code vectors to represent comer geometry information for searching the similar images from a database. The comers have been extracted by finding the intersections of the detected lines found using Hough transform. Taking the comer as the center coordinate, the angles of the intersecting lines are determined and are represented using code vectors. A code book has been used to code each comer geometry information and indexes to the code book are generated. For similarity measurement, the histogram of the code book indexes is used. This result in a significant small size feature matrix compared to the algorithms using color features. Experimental results show that use of code vectors is computationally efficient in similarity measurement and the comers being noise invariant produce good results in noisy environments.
A Study on Installation Experiment of Pedestrian Facility Using Agent-based Pedestrian Simulation Model

The purpose of this paper is the development of an agent-based pedestrian simulation model. The simulation model is based on the Cellular Automata theory. The model consists of four components: initialization, pedestrian generation, lateral movement, and front movement components. We have applied this model for experiment about pedestrian facility. In particular, we have experimented how the installation of fence is effective to resolve conflict pedestrian movements in different directions. We have found that the installation of the fence as a pedestrian facility can divide conflict moving pedestrians effectively. We have also found that the effect of the fence is bigger in slightly congested pedestrian flows than in severely congested pedestrian flows.
