Dynamic Nearest Neighbor Query Processing for Moving Vehicles

For three and more rapidly moving vehicles, they want to search the nearest location for meeting. Each vehicle has a different velocity and a efficient method is needed for shifting a short distance. It is observed that the existing group nearest-neighbor query has been investigated for static query points; however these studies do not extend to highly dynamic vehicle environments. In this paper, we propose a novel Dynamic Nearest-Neighbor query processing for Multiple Vehicles (DNN_MV). Our method retrieves the nearest neighbor for a group of moving query points with a given vector and takes the direction of moving query points with a given vector into consideration for DNN_MV. Our method efficiently calculates a group nearest neighbor through a centroid point that represents the group of moving query points. The experimental results show that the proposed method operates efficiently in a dynamic group nearest neighbor search.
Vision-Based Fast Detection System for Tunnel Incidents

Our country has so large mountain area that the tunnel construction is inevitable and the need of incident detection that provides safe management of tunnels is increasing. In this paper, we suggest a tunnel incident detection system using computer vision techniques, which can detect the incidents in a tunnel and provides the information to the tunnel administrative office in order to help safe tunnel operation. The suggested system enhances the processing speed by using simple processing algorithm such as image subtraction, and ensures the accuracy of the system by focused on the incident detection itself rather than its classification. The system is also cost effective because the video data from 4 cameras can be simultaneously analyzed in a single PC-based system. Our system can be easily extended because the PC-based analyzer can be increased according to the number of cameras in a tunnel. Also our web-based structure is useful to connect the other remotely located tunnel incident systems to obtain interoperability between tunnels. Through the experiments the system has successfully detected the incidents in real time including dropped luggage, stoped car, traffic congestion, man walker or bicycle, smoke or fire, reverse driving, etc.
Simple Energy Detection Algorithm for Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio

In this paper, we propose an efficient decision rule in order to get better chance to detect the unused spectrum assigned to a licensed user and improve reliability of spectrum sensing performance. Each secondary user receives the signals from the licensed user. And the resulting signals input to an energy detector. Then, each sensing result is combined and used to make a decision whether the primary user is present at the licensed spectrum band or not. In order to make the reliable decision, we apply an efficient decision rule that is called as a majority rule in this paper. The simulation results show that spectrum sensing performance with the proposed decision rule is more reasonable and efficient than that with conventional decision rules.
Effective Cooperative FFT based pilot Sensing Scheme for Detecting DTV Signals in Cognitive Radio

Cognitive radio (CR), which is proposed as a technology that utilizes the frequency resources effectively, has been studied to relive scarcity of the frequency resources. Also, FCC revises the regulation to reuse the TV white spaces for applying CR system and allows to use the TV white spaces by CR devices and use of CR device may be regularized after conversion by DTV in 2009. In order to reuse the TV bands without harmful interference to primary user, correct spectrum sensing should be needed to detect DTV signals that is the primary user in TV bands. In this paper, we detect the DTV signal using FFT-based pilot sensing and cooperative sensing scheme is applied for the reliability of the sensing performance and the accuracy of the detection probability. Also, in order to make the reliable decision, the majority rule is proposed.
Co-channel Interference Mitigation using Orthogonal Transmission Scheme for Cooperative Communication System with Decode-and-Forward Relays

In this paper, we analyze and simulate co-channel interference (CCI) mitigation method for cooperative communication systems employing decode-and-forward relays. In co-channel interference mitigation method, A source transmits signals that are encoded by orthogonal code. Then, the receiver can distinguish its own signals form the received signals by using the orthogonal code which is already known to the receiver. The orthogonal codes applied to this paper are orthogonal Gold codes. However, we can employ other codes, which have orthogonality, as the orthogonal code. In addition, we utilize a space time block coding (STBC) scheme for enhancing the system performance by obtaining additional array gain.
A Study on the Performance Improvement Technique for Terrestrial DMB Watermarking based on MBOK Spread Spectrum

In this paper, we proposed analysis performance improvement technique for T-DMB watermarking based on MBOK spread spectrum. By applying the proposed scheme to T-DMB system, it allows additional data transmission and improves spectral efficiency of data transmission through watermarking spreading code. Using MBOK spread spectrum technique, data rate improved 2m-times existing direct sequence spread spectrum. However, since hardware complexity increase as the value of m becomes large, the method should be used with optimal situation. We analyze T-DMB watermarking techniques performance with MBOK spread spectrum and averaging. As a result, we confirm DER performance of MBOK spread spectrum scheme and it is shown system performance is improved as the number of averaging increases. The results of the paper can be applied to wireless multimedia digital broadcasting system.
Power Saving Mechanisms for LTE Base Stations Using Traffic Characteristic

3GPP(Third Generation Partnership Project) LTE system that is the next step forward in cellular 3G services address the issues related to power saving at LTE base station. This is because that most of the energy in a typical telecommunication network is consumed by the wireless network's base station site. Power saving at LTE base station fall in with low-carbon green technology. This thesis proposes a power saving MAC protocol for LTE base station which utilizes different graded DRX/DTX(Discontinuous. Reception/Transmission). Considering traffic type in UE, proposed MAC protocol controls adaptive DRX/DTX cycle. The proposed method is more improve power saving performance than another method which is unchanged DRX/DTX by conditions. In this thesis, I propose an power saving MAC protocol in an environment where LTE base station are communicated with UE and prove improvement in performance through simulations.
Design of a Safe-driving Assistant System based on the IEEE WAVE

IEEE WAVE is going through the final standardization process as the wireless access technology which provides drivers in high-speed vehicles with safety-related information and commercial services This paper presents an application-layer protocol for safe driving assistant service and a service system emulator based on this protocol. The safe driving assistant system includes a construction zone information service and a vehicle crash notification service, an emergency vehicle notification service, a probing service and a dilemma zone decision assistant service. Emulator System design for verifying functions of system, The emulator consists of an emulator server that models the movement of all vehicles and road states and a number of clients that models functional units for OBUs, RSUs, and a traffic control center).
Integration of Information Centers for the Elderly and Disabled Services

Today, our country is experiencing serious graying without parallel. The government is executing various services and welfare policies to solve this problem using ubiquitous technology. But the old and disabled people are not good for using the u-service and system, because it is made for ordinary people. The purpose of this study is to solve the graying society-problem and improve the eldery as well as disabled's quality of life by integrating each information centers based on ESB(Enterprise Service Bus). The results of this study can be divided by system architecture and communication system for the eldery and disabled. The research development results of this study can be used to build the integrated information center for u-service of the old people and disabled. It will contribute to realizing the Ubiquitous-society by promotion of young people's quality of life as well as the eldery and disabled.
Grid-based Location Service Spot scheme for optimized routing path on VANET

Location Service is required in position-based routing for VANET to provide position information. We propose Grid-based Location service spot(GLSS) scheme for optimized routing path to improve accessibility and load balance in location service. Specific area is defined as Location service spot(LSS) on each grid in this scheme, and all nodes in the grid geocast its location update message and location request message to each LSS. Location request messages are flooded throughout LSSs, location reply messages establish optimized route from the source grid to the destination grid. We evaluated GLSS which establishes optimized route on the grid comparing GPSR in consideration of road condition and geographical features.
A Study on Priority Allocation Algorithm According to Air Traffic in Aeronautical Communication Environment

According to the recent increase in air traffic a more efficient air traffic flow control is required. This paper proposes the algorithm for efficient air traffic flow control. Aeronautical communication environment is different from the common communication environment since it needs a direct communication between stations (or airplanes) and requires a strict priority for safety message. Moreover, the wide area for basic service causes high propagation delay. In this paper, by using existing CSMA/CA Media Access Control (MAC) protocol, we set the message priorities according to air traffic condition (congestion airport area, approach control area, En route area, and ocean area). This prioritization scheme enables the data transmission with higher access probability. Simulation results confirm that our protocol shows better performance in terms of channel efficiency and success probability compared to exisiting CSMA/CA protocol.
The prediction Models for Clearance Times for the unexpected Incidences According to Traffic Accident Classifications in Highway

In this study, a prediction model for incident reaction time was developed so that we can cope with the increasing demand for information related to the accident reaction time. For this, the time for dealing with accidents and dependent variables were classified into incident grade, A, B, and C. Then, fifteen independent variables including traffic volume, number of accident-related vehicles and the accidents time zone were utilized. As a result, traffic volume, possibility of including heavy vehicles, and an accident time zone were found as important variables. The results showed that the model has some degree of explanatory power. In addition, when the CHAID Technique was applied, the Answer Tree was constructed based on the variables included in the prediction model for incident reaction time. Using the developed Answer Tree model, accidents firstly were classified into grades A, B, and C. In the secondary classification, they were grouped according to the traffic volume. This study is expected to make a contribution to provide expressway users with quicker and more effective traffic information through the prediction model for incident reaction time and the Answer Tree, when incidents happen on expressway
Study on Transport Policy Assessment Using the Integrated Land Use Transport Model

The policy which encourages people to use cars on the road has been based on the growth of economy in Korea. It has also caused the concentration and overcrowding in Seoul. That's because the increasing number of people possessing cars interconnects with the urban development. The transportation is a derived demand; so many scholars have recognized the importance of understanding the relationship between urban land use and transport. Considering such importance, this study theoretically compared the developed urban land use-transportation models each other and outlined the particular models briefly. Models were categorized by 2 types; optimizing model and predictive mode. Predictive model is also defined by static model, entropy based model, spatial-economic model, and activity model. After studying models, we investigated other major cities in America. This process is the pre-step for transport policy assessment. Through careful literature review, we can finally develop the integrated land-use transportation model in Seoul metropolitan area. In addition, we will be able to deal the changes of traffic demand pattern under U-Society. Consequently, the results of this study can be applied to ITS projects in the future.
A Study on the Building Information Integration Method between e-AIS and KLIS-rn

As the development of wireless environment and portable devices, navigation companies need more spatial information for Location Based Service and so they are investing heavily in this part. But my country have constructed lots of spatial dataset during the NGIS project, and then we can reduce costs by using constructed spatial dataset. The integration method of each building information between e-AIS and KLIS-rn is linked to designed mapping table by main building numbers and auxiliary cadastral number. e-AIS and KLIS-rn are integrated by the feature matching between CAD data and KLIS-rn. Due to the limitation of test data, more accuracy test will be required with various data sets.
