Test-bed Operation for Nation-wide Interoperable Transportation Card

In this paper, we describe the result of the test-bed on Nation-wide Interoperable Transportation System connected with Interoperable Traffic Information Collection System, which was developed by Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings, KOREAIL NETWORKS, HiPlusCard and Samsung SDS. we constructed Nation-wide Interoperable Transportation System on 4 downtown bus routes, 20 stations on line 1 subway, 2 stations of a train and 2 sections of the Honam highway in Gwangju and Interoperable Traffic Information Collection System in Seoul University IC Card Center. So we operated that by 480 Several staff were given a test card and asked to try it for about 6 months. This test-bed is for demonstrates the accuracy, safety and credibility of the Nation-wide Interoperability standard technology and it can be applied to all of transportation practically. When the staffs contact the card to Purchase terminal, the card performs transaction with Purchase SAM in the terminal, then transactions ara used to calculate in Settlement system and Interoperable Traffic Information Collection System. Through the test-bed, we examined this process and found unexpected problems happening during the test operation and have successfully solved them. In addition, the results of the test-bed let us know what additional improvement might be required for System. The successful run of the test-bed was verified by an evaluation of the test-bed staff and a public survey.
Nation-wide Interoperable transportation card X-CASH System and Settlement interface Development

Although the existing X-CASH card system observes the KS standard for a transportation card system, there has been an issue for interoperability between X-CASH and other public transportation system due to the partially undefined part in the standard. This issue is followed by the inconvenience of the existing X-CASH users. If the existing X-CASH card user wants to get any other public transportations which are not interoperated with X-CASH, the user would have to buy other cards. Consequently, some users have to bring more than one card with them. In addition, it is almost impossible that the existing X-CASH system operator makes the X-CASH card available for the infrastructure built by other cards operators because their technologies are too much different. The X-CASH operator must construct its own infrastructure on the same route and it would cause an unnecessary loss of expense and labor. To solve these problems, We modified the existing X-CASH system and developed the Nation-wide Interoerable X-CASH system which lets both the existing X-CASH card and Nation-wide Interoperable X-CASH card work. This developed X-CASH system consists of the purchase SAM, the purchase terminal and the settlement. And The conformity test for it was successfully authorized. Also we, KORAIL NETWORKS, have done the test-bed on this Nation-wide interoperable X-CASH system in Gwangju for six months with Telecommunications & Clearings, the HiPlusCard Corporation. This test confirmed that the Nation-wide Interoperable X-CASH system would practically work well.
A Study on Intelligent Mobility Enhancement System for the Mobility Handicapped

This study is aimed at enhancing mobility rights for the transportation underprivileged that has been made light of relatively compared to normal people. In order to do this, we've suggested having ITS (Intelligent Traffic System) built and improving satisfaction through the test operation of its main system. The existing sound signal device for the visually handicapped has one problem with managing it. Because, the people in charge of it had to visit each problematic site directly to maintain and fix some problems every time it was out of order. Moreover, it couldn't provide sustainable services about voice guidance and the visually handicapped had to control it by either confirming the location of buttons that were installed on the pillar of traffic light and then pressing one of them or using a remote controller on their own. In order to improve such inconveniences, we have created a new typed sound signal device for the visually handicapped by applying the cutting-edge wireless technology based on ergonomics considering actual road situations. Such technology enables it report the status of signal device and light to them by using its voice guidance system automatically every time they have access to it. Additionally, we've already introduced it to a couple of test areas and then known the fact that they recognized traffic situation more conveniently and safely compared to the existing sound signal device. That is above average in terms of satisfaction. In addition to that, we've provided LTS (Location Tracking System - Location-based service intended for elementary students) by utilizing the existing wireless infrastructure and founded the fact that about 87% of their parents were satisfied with the service based on LTS.
Amber Information Design for Supporting Safe-Driving Under Local Road in Small-scale Area

Adverse weather (e.g. strong winds, snow and ice) will probably appear as a more serious and frequent threat to road traffic than in clear climate. Another consequence of climate change with a natural disastrous on road traffic is respond to traffic accident more the large and high-rise bridge zone, tunnel zone, inclined plane zone and de-icing zone than any other zone, which in turn calls for continuous adaption of monitoring procedures. Accident mitigating measures against this accident category may consist of intense winter maintenance, the use of road weather information systems for data collection and early warnings, road surveillance and traffic control. While hazard from reduced road friction due to snow and ice may be eliminated by snow removal and de-icing measures, the effect of strong winds on road traffic are not easily avoided. The purpose of the study described here, was to design of amber information the relationship between traffic safety, weather, user information on road weather and driving conditions in local-scale Geographic. The most applications are the optimization of the amber information definition, improvements to road surveillance, road weather monitoring and improved accuracy of user information delivery. Also, statistics on wind gust, surface condition, vehicle category and other relevant parameters for wind induced accidents provide basis for traffic control, early warning policies and driver education for improved road safety at bad weather-exposed locations.
Development of a Traffic Signal Controller for the Tri-light Traffic Signal

The traffic signal controllers being used in the domestic currently are being manufactured based on the korean national police standard which was developed for controlling the quad-light traffic signal having the red, yellow, left-turn arrow, and green lights. But according to the national policy for the traffic operation, they have to be changed to be able to switch the tri-light signal having red, yellow and green lights. In this study, a new tri-light traffic signal controller was designed and developed by the way improving the Signal Control Unit of the existing quad-light standard traffic controller. The Load Signal Unit(LSU) was improved to output 6 signals which are the two assemblies of three signal indications having the red, yellow, and green lights. To enough traffic signals output to control each directional movements and the various transport modes which are car, bus, bike, and pedestrian etc., the connector bus system was designed to be able to accommodate maximum 96 signals outputs being constructed by 16 LSUs. Flasher device was developed to be able to support maximum 32 red signals. In the software, the communication protocol between traffic control center and the traffic signal controller was improved and new signal map code values were defined for the developed LSU controlling the quad-light traffic signal. A model of the quad-light traffic signal controller developed and was tested three operations, protocol-operation, remote-command and control-mode. The test result operated all of them successfully.
A Study for Minimum Requirements Time of Bicycle Signal Clearance Interval

Korea have experienced a very rapid increase in police-reported collisions between bicycle and motor vehicles over the past decade. Even though cycling accidents are increasing, efforts to make urban areas more accomodating to cyclists are seldom formed. Clearance intervals(including both the yellow change and all-red clearance intervals) at signalized intersections that are of inadequate lengths for bicycles may cause accidents. Data on bicycling speed, acceleration and deceleration were tested and analyzed on the flat. Using the results of the analysis and based on the AASHTO's equation of the bicycle clearance interval, a methodology is got for calculation safe clearance intervals for bicycle riders. The clearance interval call for bicycles will be larger or same than for vehicles because of the speed, acceleration and deceleration difference. Adequate bicycle speed, acceleration and deceleration for korean bicycle users is presented in this paper. It is hoped that traffic engineers to provide safe intersection clearance time for bicycles use the results of this paper.
Dual-band L-section Impedance Transformer

This paper proposes new dual-band impedance transformers based on the L-section circuit topology. The proposed circuits consist of a transmission line section with a stub line either at the source or at the load end. The dual-band operating conditions are analyzed in detail and simple design equations are derived in terms of the line lengths and impedances for the different circuit topologies and load conditions. The dual-band operation is confirmed through the design, fabrication and measurement in microstrip circuits based on the proposed method.
Design of High Efficiency Switching-Mode Doherty Power Amplifier Using GaN HEMT

In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a high efficiency Doherty power amplifier using gallium nitride (GaN) high-electron mobility transistor (HEMT). The carrier and peaking amplifiers of the proposed Doherty power amplifier consist of the switching-mode Class-E power amplifiers. The test conditions are a duty of 10% and a pulse width of
and pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of 1 kHz for a S-band radar application. A RF performance peak PAE of 64% with drain efficiency of 80.6%, at 6 dB output back-off point from saturated output power of 45.5 dBm, was obtained at 2.85 GHz.
Automatic Music-Story Video Generation Using Music Files and Photos in Automobile Multimedia System

This paper presents automated music story video generation technique as one of entertainment features that is equipped in multimedia system of the vehicle. The automated music story video generation is a system that automatically creates stories to accompany musics with photos stored in user's mobile phone by connecting user's mobile phone with multimedia systems in vehicles. Users watch the generated music story video at the same time. while they hear the music according to mood. The performance of the automated music story video generation is measured by accuracies of music classification, photo classification, and text-keyword extraction, and results of user's MOS-test.
Development of Displacement Measuring Sensor Module to Monitoring About Variation and Distortion for Bridge Infrastructure at Wireless Communication Environmental

Lots of bridge structure generated the change of outward formation according to durability capability and decrepitude by long use. Especially, in case of the typhoon, snowing and earthquake is going to make rapidly more worse formation about the old structural facilitys. Also, outward formation by irregular and micro-distortion in bridge structure could not easily checked by normal diagnostics method. As a result, performance-capability of structure facility is getting to make a decline in standard of structure performance. Recently, real-time monitoring technology by wireless environment go into the study of irregular movement for structure facility. This paper presents the development of sensor to displacement checking about bridge structure. Sensing method of developed sensor put bring into the gyroscope technology using the acceleration speed and angular acceleration speed. This paper also will simulated to verified the monitoring capability of developed sensor against random vibration, frequency and distortion in simulated equipment.
