The role of SI in this IT era is recognized high as a value-creating activity in the overall industries. But the valuation factors are not so attractive compared to other industries. Among the negative factors are the relatively high cost of sales and operating cost, the lack of technical differentiation among the firms, the low level of entry barrier, and the resulting competition in the SI industry. But some positive factors such as the expectation for the overall introduction of IT into eoconomy, development of SM (System Management) projects, and the sales of developed soultions and components increase the value of SI firms.
Efficiency Analysis of Buyer-Carts for B2B EC

Buyer-carts to support the purchasing process in the B2B EC platform, can be categorized as s-cart, i-cart, and b-cart depending upon its residing sites : seller, intermediary, and buyer sites. In this paper, after proposing the desired features of buyer-carts in B2B EC as identification, collection, trashing, ordering, payment, tracking, recording, purchasing decision support, and transmission of records to e-procurement systems, we try to analyze each buyer-cart qualitatively from such viewpoints. Moreover, we propose an efficiency evaluation model for quantitative analysis. By setting variables from interview of employees in 30 listed companies In Korea, we try to evaluate the efficiency of buyer-carts in B2B EC. From this paper, we show that the b-cart platform is more efficient than other buyer-carts especially in B2B EC.
An Improvement of SI Contracting Laws and Regulations in Korea

Having Efficient Contracting Laws and Regulations is one of the critical success factors for SI (System Integration) industry growth. This paper explores problems in contracting systems for SI business. Two perspectives have been used in this analysis. One is on law itself perspective, the other is on industry growth perspective. A comprehensive survey on contracting practices has been done, and the structure of SI industry has been analysed. Also, characteristics of SI contracting processes have been analysed. A framework for efficient contracting laws and regulations for SI industry has been discussed based on the characteristics of SI business and SI industry. Future research will be needed to expand the current framework and to examine the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
A Qualitative Approach to eIT Project Management

This paper suggests a new approach to IT project management based on a regular project meeting results to consider the recent project environment. The greater part of recent IT projects are related to e-business transformation. Transforming to e-business is a new problem very different from those they have been worked, in several point of views. Under e-business era, therefore any IT project is being implemented in more complex, dynamic and uncertain environment than traditional. That is, project leaders must consider more factors to control projects including resources, quality, risks, and technologies, and human resources. The project organizations and software corporations thus need to develop and establish new concepts or methodologies to manage e-business projects. In this point of view, an entropy model in this study is introduced for estimating and managing the uncertainty in project control using multi-attributes of project meeting. This paper proposes a new frame work based on entropy model using project meeting results to consider eIT project environment with a small pilot study.
The Trend of Integrated Solution Service Based on VoIP and Voice Recognition

We are looking at the two different kinds of IT on this paper. One is VoIP and the other is VR (voice recognition). We are more interesting at the evolving techniques and services produced by combining the two techniques mentioned above. Recently, there are so many services and products appeared in the market using voice recognition technique. Now the technique has progressed on the level that can even replace the user interfaces using the QUI or general DTMF. Therefore, we are expecting so many various new services showed UP In the market which is combination of the VoIP and VR. Up until now, three models are available in the field which are wired telephone, wireless telephone, and wireless internet. We know the effectiveness of the VoIP is maximized more when this technique is combined with others rather than used alone without other techniques.
A Study on e-Business Establishment Model : Furniture Industry

This study aims to explore the ways of reinforcing the competitive edge and substance of company through e-business in furniture industry by presenting the e-business model of furniture industry which faces the opportunity of challenge in the course of industrial restructuring. e-business model can take various types depending on the environment, feature and competitive edge that each company faces. For example, it is general in the fields of manufacturing company to study the model by dividing into Sell Side for sales to the customers, and Buy Side for purchase of raw materials, Integrating both sides. In furniture industry, Sell Side has the feature of giving a priority in the quality and price rather than brand image in the purchase type of consumer. Especially, it shall not be overlooked that majority of furniture is delivered to the consumer indirectly through the construction company. As such, e-business should be promoted in a way to expand the point of contact for consumers, rather than to construct its own point of contact for consumers. The percentage of importation of raw lumber is high and the standardization was insufficient in Buy Side.
Operation Strategy for Electronic Commerce Promotion Base on Common Mechanic Industry

The generalization of Internet use has been spreaded all over the world and impacted company to introduce intranet and extranet for their operation which dealt with electronic commerce. For these reason, endeavor of implementation of web site system is promotioned and enhanced the possibility of adaptation range for the view of company. Dramatic competition which company faced with the use of internet and request from all over the world made company brought company to various and different type of level. It is necessary to develop website system with experty knowledge to satisfy customer needs. To deal with this situation, works from the level of government should proposed to spread whole country business which propelled through kyungnam mechanic industry information promotion center. With strategic proposal concerning district characteristics to adapt electronic commerce successfully, information promotion should performed. Support of government is needed continuously to realize infra of ASP composed of 4,877 mechanic industry company. It might be possible to deal with international rapid change with cooperation of company and government related department.
Interface Specification Modeling for Distributed Network Management Agent of IMT-2000 Based on Applicable Service Independent Building Blocks

It is noteworthy that IMT -2000 communication network based on All-HP/AIN(Advanced Intelligent Network) should accomodate current and future wire/wireless AIN service easily through integration and gearing AIN construction elements. In this paper. Intelligent Farmer model(I-Farmer Model) and methodology are suggested in order to solve the several problems including standardization on implementation of Q3 interface in Telecommunication Management Network(TMN) agents which is caused by heterogeneous platform environment and future maintenance. Also this paper proposes ITI algorithm transforming the system which is designed by I-Farmer model to Interface Specification Model(ISM) applying the I-Farmer model. In addition to ITI algorithm. we suggest NTS(Node to SIB) algorithm converting entity node and ILB/OLB component in agent system designed by the I-Farmer model to SIB of AIN GFP(Global Functional Plane) and to ASIB for application program.
Development of a Domain Component Specification Method

As an optimun alternatives for the solution of recent software crisis, we have to develop component technologies so as to develop and propagate business components for various domains to industries. For the sake of development of business components, a conceptual architecture which defines a model for component assembly should be prescribed first, and a systematic specification method based on this model be defined, so we can build a system environments for making specifications and development of each component by the consistent scheme. In this study, we propose a domain architecture model for implementing the pUblic component bank as a project supported by the ministry of information and communication, discuss the conceptual model of specification for developing components of storing component bank, specification steps, specification approach for application of business domains and the development results of them.
A Study of the Success Factors for the Development of IS Outsourcing

It is estimated that the world market size of the outsourcing of information system will be 780 billions in 2004, and that of ASP, one of outsourcing markets, will be 24 billions in 2005. The domestic outsourcing market also has 6 times grown in 2001 compared to the size in 2000. However, there have been only a few systematic researches about information system outsourcing and ASP in Korea. Though the importance of ASP has been recognized, no business model has been examined. So, this research was done to survey the outsourcing of information system and the meaning/present status of ASP, and to consider several factors to successfully introduce this service to companies. Especially, this research focused on ASP.
Research Topics Based on Korea IT Outsourcing Service Industry

Many problems in IT outsourcing service industry of Korea are rooted in the idiosyncratic structure of the industry. This structure causes the unique characteristics of service level management, service delivery methodology, and contracts. This study looks into the status of the industry, vendors, and markets of IT outsourcing and proposes some of relevant research topics of each area respectively.
