A Study on the Success Factors of On-line Collaboration for Manufacturing Innovation Using AHP Analysis

The purpose of this study lies in enhancing an understanding of on-line collaboration among manufacturing companies for innovation. To meet this purpose, this study adopts Eisenhart(1989)'s case study approach to explore the success factors of on-line collaboration among Korean small-medium-sized manufacturing companies. Firstly, an exhaustive case study is conducted for four collaboration hubs in the Korean injection mold industry. This study identify the success factors through a structured questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews based on experts of K Institute, which performs the overall management of the collaboration hubs, and personnel of the participating businesses and vendors. Secondly, AHP analysis is conducted to identify the priorities among the success factors. Finally, several propositions of on-lin collaboration are derived.
Action Plans of Green r-Learning Services based on UCR(User Created Robots)

Expectation for improvement of creativity and problem-solving capability has increased the creative robotics classes in the form of after-school activity in more than half of total elementary schools. While Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has promoted 'Green IT Guidelines' as a part of 'Eco-friendly Green School Development Project', the Green issues have not been considered enough in those creative robotics classes. In this paper, we would like to address the Green issues, especially in the r-Learning services based on UCR (User Created Robots). First, trend of green IT education, r-Learning services and UCR are reviewed. And the current status of eco-related operations and teachers' perception in the robotics classes of elementary schools is investigated. Examples of Green UCR are also searched and green programs based on the three kinds of UCR, UC-TR, UC-AR, UC-CR, are explored. Finally, we propose action plans to promote the UCR-based r-Learning service reflecting green issues.
Issues and Strategic Approach on Creation of a Global Media Company in Korea

With the saturation of the local market, the domestic media industry is searching for new growth drivers by crossing over to other industries, but due to the limited size of the market, results fail to meet expectations. Despite its strengths in cultural contents, as verified by the Korean Wave Hallyu, and advanced platform services, the industry feels threatened by the entry of global foreign media businesses in the domestic arena. This and the stagnated growth in the local media market are challenges we are facing today. On the other hand, it could prove to be a timely opportunity to transform the existing media industry structure where exporting hardware and terminals is at the heart of a globalized business into a structure based on software and contents exports. Based on such critical thinking, this study examines the current status of media markets, home and abroad, and aims to come up with strategic measures through a discussion on the issues and methods proposed for the globalization of local media businesses from a holistic viewpoint based on ecosystem, M&A and contents.
A Ship Scheduling Model for Raw Material Transportation with Yard Storage Constraints in a Steel Mill

A ship scheduling model is presented for the raw material transportation problem with yard storage constraints in a steel mill. The problem is formulated as 0, 1 mixed integer programming considering such constraints as loading port conditions, ship size and hold capacity, unloading conditions, and yard storage space. In addition, inventory related constraints including safety stock are taken into consideration to support the continuous operations of steel making process. The proposed model has been implemented and applied successfully to a real world problem, and its results show the improvement of performance compared to the traditional method. For example, the arrival dates of ships are determined satisfying the constraints. The total inventory level is minimized at the stock yard as a result. Also, the safety inventory level is always kept at the planning stage, and the standard deviation of total inventory level is reduced significantly. Further research is expected to develop efficient heuristics to have a better response time for even larger scale problems.
An Implementation and Analysis on the Effectiveness of SNS based Blended Learning System for Internet Ethics Education

The purpose of this paper was to design and implement effective learning model for internet ethics education, following the learning principle and procedure of PBL(Problem-Based Learning) which is one of the constructivism teaching-learning theories(, and to apply it). In this learning model, online learning and face-to-face classes were systematically combined for achieving the teaching-learning goals and the main module for online learning run on Moodle, an open source LMS(Learning Management System). It is possible for learner to participate actively in creation of micro-contents and reorganize contents using various SNS(Social Network Service). The learner can achieve the learner-oriented learning and select micro-contents in order to reorganize the personalized learning contents to take advantage of SNS among learners. To examine educational effectiveness of the proposed learning model, an experimental study was conducted through the education content and method to the subjects of two classes in the second-grade of university located in OO city. 60 students(treatment group=30, control group=30) participated in the experiment. The result statistically verified that the proposed learning method is more effective in cultivating consciousness of internet ethics than the face-to-face PBL learning method. The results of this paper also showed that a lecture using blended learning is efficient in achieving learning performance and that learners responded positively(, which are indicating that the higher effectiveness of learning would be expected) by forming connectedness among learners using SNS. An Empirical Study of Intention of Usage of Health Information on the Internet: Comparison by Gender

Since the general quality of life has been improving, people have become interested in "well-being." The widespread acceptance of the importance of "well-being" to quality of life has encouraged people to take more interest in getting health information online when they need it. Expansive use of online health information suggests that individual characteristics (i.e., gender and other traits), Website features, and perceived trust are related to the primary concern for many online health information consumers. This study examines whether familiarity, perceived security, and reputation of health information on various Websites influence the relationship of trust and intention to use by gender. These research results will contribute to the adoption of online health information by gender and, moreover, will provide companies with an understanding of key characteristics of consumers who use emoticons and provide useful implications for marketing strategies to current and future consumers.
Implementation and Evaluation of the Registry Model for Systematically Referencing Standards in e-Business Field

This paper proposes a new registry model for systematically referencing standards in e-Business field. We have many systems that provide standards and additional information. However, there are several problems such as inefficient standard information, dependency on a standard type, high standard information acquisition cost, no relations between standard information, and so on. In this paper, a new registry model and its prototype implementation are described. The proposed model is defined based on ISO/IEC 11179-Metadata registries, which is one of the international standards for interoperability between data. The proposed model provides an integrated- systematic standard information support, and also considers technology stack and business processes for e-Business systems. This paper develops a prototype for the proposed model and implementation result. Finally, to show the contribution of our proposal, this paper shows the comparative evaluation between previous systems and our proposal with various comparative items.
A Study on Quality Control Using Data Mining in Steel Continuous Casting Process

The smelting and the continuous casting of steel are important processes that determine the quality of steel products. Especially most of quality defects occur during solidification of the steel continuous casting process. Although quality control techniques such as six sigma, SQC, and TQM can be applied to the continuous casting process for improving quality of steel products, these techniques don't provide real-time analysis to identify the causes of defect occurrence. To solve problems, we have developed a detection model using decision tree which identified abnormal transactions to have a coarse grain structure. And we have compared the proposed model with models using neural network and logistic regression. Experiments on steel data showed that the performance of the proposed model was higher than those of neural network model and logistic regression model. Thus, we expect that the suggested model will be helpful to control the quality of steel products in real-time in the continuous casting process.
An Analysis of the SaaS Quality Impact on the Service Performance and Loyalty

Business organizations today have sought management effectiveness and efficiency utilizing information technologies. In particular, small and medium-sized enterprises short of information resources tend to rely more on outsourcing for accomplishing their own information strategies. SaaS(Software as a Service) has recently become one of the powerful outsourcing alternatives. This study tries to identify the influence of the SaaS quality on the service performance and loyalty. A SaaS quality model is developed including tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Then they are hypothesized to have influence on the service performance defined as user satisfaction, individual performance, and organizational performance. Service performance is considered to have an impact on the loyalty to service. Findings from a survey to test hypotheses on the relationship among SaaS quality, performance and loyalty show these variables are significantly important to widespread adoption of SaaS.
A Study on Factors Affecting Intention to Switch for Using Cloud Computing: A Case of Goolgle Docs

While the importance of adopting cloud computing service has been emerged, comparatively little research has been conducted on examining factors of an individual user's intention to switch toward cloud computing service. Hereafter, this study presents and empirically tests users' intention to switch to cloud computing. Our model posits that the characteristics of cloud computing such as collaboration support, accessability, trust to cloud service affect perceived value, which in turn, influences intention to switch. An experimental study using student subjects provided empirical validation for our proposed model. Survey data from 106 respondents was used to test the model using partial least square analysis. According to our results, the characteristics of cloud computing were found to have significant impact on users' intention to switch that partially mediated by perceived value. Based on our research findings, we hope that this research will stimulate researchers' interest in the emerging area of cloud computing adoption.
A Technique to Apply Inlining for Code Obfuscation based on Genetic Algorithm

Code obfuscation is a technique that protects the abstract data contained in a program from malicious reverse engineering and various obfuscation methods have been proposed for obfuscating intention. As the abstract data of control flow about programs is important to clearly understand whole program, many control flow obfuscation transformations have been introduced. Generally, inlining is a compiler optimization which improves the performance of programs by reducing the overhead of calling invocation. In code obfuscation, inlining is used to protect the abstract data of control flow. In this paper, we define new control flow complexity metric based on entropy theory and N-Scope metric, and then apply genetic algorithm to obtain optimal inlining results, based on the defined metric.
Implementation of the Methodology for BioAPI Conformance Test

Biometrics is one of promising future technologies within personal identification area, and its application stretches to other variety industry site. Therefore it is necessary to test whether these products are implemented in conformance withe the BioAPI international standard specification. This paper presents the specific construction and application examples of BioAPI v2.0 conformance test suite according to the method described in ISO/IEC 24709. The problems and experience that have been discovered in the construction are described. Three BSP products claiming conformance to BioAPI was tested by proposed the test methodology and tools.
Verification Tool for Feature Models and Configurations using Semantic Web Technologies

Feature models are widely used to model commonalities and variabilities among products during software product line development. Feature configurations are generated by selecting the features to be included in individual products. Automated tools to identify errors or inconsistencies in the feature models and configurations are essential to successful software product line engineering. This paper proposes a verification technique and tool based on semantic web technologies such as OWL, SWRL and Protege API. This approach checks the feature model and configuration based on predefined rules and provides information on existence of errors as well as the kinds of those errors. This approach is extensible due to ease of rule modification and may be easily applied to other environments because semantic web technologies can be easily integrated with other programming environments. This paper demonstrates how various semantic web-related technologies can support automatic verification of one kind of software development artifact, the feature model.
Network Synchronization for Collaborative Work in Distributed Environment

In the every day life of the people, the Internet is widely used. Currently over 1.9 billion people have one or more email addresses and over 600 million people use the Facebook. People are collaborating via the Internet more and more. When people are collaborating through the Internet, the differences of the message delivery delay are the biggest problem that disturbs the collaborative work over the network. To solve the differences of the message delivery delay, we introduce the delay-gap method. An experimental code have been implemented and the efficiency of the delay-gap is presented through the results from the experiment that have many participants.
Integrated Platform to Develop, Deploy, Manage, and Operate Mobile Application

Mobile devices are widely accepted as a convenient machine which provides computing capability as well we cell phone capability. Because of limited resources on mobile devices, complex applications could not be deployed on the devices. Service-based mobile applications (SMAs) can provide a solution to overcome the limitation by subscribing cloud services. Since SMAs have complex structures than standalone applications, it is challenging to develop high quality SMAs, to manage both services and mobile applications, and to implement automated billing for subscribed services. Therefore, there is a great demand for a platform for super mobile computing, which supports all key activities in managing life cycle of SMAs. In this paper, we present technical aspects of a platform which is under development; Super Mobile Autonomous Reliable plaTform (SMART). We believe that it provides a number of practical features which are essential in supporting life-cycle of SMAs; development, deployment, management, and operation.
The Energy Performance Analysis Between Synchronous and Asynchronous Duty Cycle based MAC Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks

Recently, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) require energy performance and guaranteed delivery delay time, contrarily with previous MAC protocols that aim to high throughput mostly. In order to satisfy the new significant requirements, many MAC protocols of WSN employ and try to enhance the duty cycle mechanism which is energy efficient technique in MAC layer. This duty cycle mechanism is oriented by toggling the transceiver conditions composed of wakeup and sleep states. The synchronous MAC protocols perform the period synchronization process. Hence, these are energy efficient in periodic monitoring environment, but are inefficient in where an event is incurred rarely and infrequently. Otherwise, the performance of asynchronous MAC protocols are contrarily with synchronous protocols. In this paper, we design two models consisting Always-busy and Always-idle ti simplify the general network congestion conditions. Through these models, moreover, we analyze two types MAC protocols in terms of energy efficiency and delay performance by analytical results. Additionally, we also evaluate two MAC protocols with two gongestion models that we designed. By the analytical and simulated results, we provide the general and efficient decision method in which protocols are more appropriate in a certain WSN environment.
A Case Study on Realization of ITSM Performance Applying the Change Management Framework of ITSM

Recently, interests in IT Service Management(ITSM) are increasing internationally as well as domestically. In order to realize the benefits from ITSM, it is necessary to institutionalize it as a culture of the organization through effective change management. One of the most promising approach of effective change management is the change management framework of ITSM. In this study, we analyze a success case in which the change management framework of ITSM was applied to IT Service company which has introduced ITSM. Through the analyses, this study aims to propose a feasible and specific approach to institutionalize ITSM. To accomplish the objective, the study is designed to analyze specific methods for applying ITSM's change management framework to ITSM organizations, performance of projects and future directions based on interviews and review of project documents/deliverables. This study could not provide detailed performance measures due to lack of previous research on this topic and difficulty of obtaining quantitative data. However, this study has contributed to proposing a direction to institutionalize ITSM in organizations by analyzing a feasibility of ITSM's change management framework in implementing ITSM.
Analysis on the Demand for Ubiquitous Healthcare Services: Focusing on Home-based Telemedicine and Telehealthmanagement Services

The purpose of this study is to analyze the demand for telemedicine and telehealthmanagement services, which are key elements of home based u-health. The conjoint analysis, which is a conventional method for demand analysis for newly introduced products, is employed, utilizing the survey data on 500 seoul citizens. Further, multivariate probit model is used to estimate the demand. The result shows that the demand for telemedicine services is greater than that of telehealthmanagement services. Further, home-based u-health services will play a role as a complementary for face-to-face medical treatments, rather than a substitute. Meanwhile, the demand for home-based u-health services is found to be very sensitive to price.
Developing Strategy of Service Design Competitiveness for Service Industry Innovation

Recently world industry trends is moved from manufacturing to service. As a result product-market ideology is central to the service enabler of the service. And value creation and delivery of consumer-oriented services as the core design industry is gaining popularity abroad. But the Service design to dispose of the whole process from planning to be done systematically is not yet established a clear concept. This study suggested problems of the current service design industry, service plans and strategies for the development of service design through open questionnaire and FGI(Focus Group Interview) for using service model methodology which is presented by HyeogIn Kwon et al.(2010). And we also consider 27 kinds of developing challenges for service design industry innovation by 6 sectors, such as workforce, R&D, legal framework, lay the foundation, knowledge service and collaborative service.
An Exploratory Research on the Adoption of Service Science in the MICE Industry

Service science has emerged as the key factor in developed economies as it becomes the main driver of productivity and economic growth. MICE industry has also opened up new revenues through improved services and new services which is a more attractive strategy for success. The importance of adoption of service science has recently emerged in MICE industry. However it has not been provided a detail action plan it is needed positive interesting and common endeavor of academy, industry, and government sector. In this context, we analyzed the major issues in adoption of service science in the MICE industry and developed the paradigm model by ground theory approach and proposed a roles of MICE service provider, mediator and consumer for service science adoption which have not been treated as a research topic in the domestic MICE areas sofar.
