An Empirical Study on the Influence of Internal and External Characteristics on the Social Business Participation and the Moderating Effects of Psychological Contract

Following the growth of e-Business, there has been a recent increase of interest in promoting Social Business (s-Business) based on Social Network Service(SNS). As the introduction of the Internet brought about the increasing number of its users followed by the growing market of e-Commerce, online games, and e-Learning, the increasing number of SNS users has opened the new markets combining the existing industrial fields with SNS, and it developed into a revenue model beyond the mere sharing of information. Despite such industrial and social environments, understanding of new social business technology from the aspect of business has been insufficient, and the empirical study on participation in the social business has been scant as well. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to investigate the s-Business in detail and to study the factors giving influence to the users` participation in s-Business. This study proposes six variables(Self-Empowerment, Job Relevance, Formation of Social Capital, Relative Advantage, Shared Value, Relationship Specified Investment) and the moderating effects of Psychological Contract as influential factors closely related with s-Business. A total of 362 data from a survey were analyzed by using Structural Equation Modeling(SEM). Result showed that all factors with the exception of Job Relevance have meaningful influence on the intention to participate in s-Business. The implication of the findings suggests to compliment limitations of the existing researches, and to prepare the theoretical foundation for promoting s-Business participation in addition to further suggesting directionality from the view point of the users of the social business-relevant studies.
The Legal Justice of Conferring Criminal Negligence on Chief Privacy Officers(CPO)

The recently revised "Telecommunications Business Promotion and Personal Data Protection Act" is an important legal milestone in promoting the Korean telecommunications infrastructure and industry as well as protecting individuals` personal data and individuals` rights to privacy. Special characteristics of information security and privacy protection services including public goods` feature, adaptiveness, relativity, multi-dimensionality, and incompleteness, are reviewed. The responsibility of chief security/privacy officers in the IT industry, and the fairness and effectiveness of the criminal negligence in the Telecommunications Act are analyzed. An assessment of the rationale behind the act as well as a survey of related laws and cases in different countries, offers the following recommendations : i) revise the act and develop new systems for data protection, ii) grant a stay of execution or reduce the sentence given extenuating circumstances, or iii) use technical and managerial measures in data protection for exemption from criminal negligence.
An Exploratory Study on Future Economic Activity of Digital Convergence Generation

This research focus on the economic activity as consumer and producer traits of future customers in the convergence age. We assess level of convergence for digital devices and services respectively by questionnaire survey and interview for 14 professions. And then, for evaluating convergence level and usage of digital services of each respondents, we conducted the questionnaire survey for 343 samples. Findings of our research hold that the group who showed higher level of convergence tends to use the socialized digital services more. Convergence generation were heavy users in appstore on smart-phone and wireless game and more participating. In digital service area, facebook/cyworld, twitter, UCC, portal, internet community in digital service. Convergence generation are global network communication, buying decision making activity, actively opinion expression, prosumer attitude, dependency on digital device, experience based purchase behavior, enthusiastic information sharing.
Designing Processes for Ubiquitous-based Sport Business Model

Business organizations are asked to create new business models utilizing current technological innovations such as ubiquitous computing technology for developing new domains of business to obtain a competitive advantage and achieve a sustainable development. This study was focused on the processes for developing new and practical business models. The purpose of this study was to propose ubiquitous sport business modeling processes from the modeling framework. In particular, this study focused on developing new, pragmatic, and effective sport business models, and this new type of business is defined as `u-sport.` For design the business model, extensive literature reviews and case studies were conducted for benchmarking the cases and expert group review was conducted for developing u-sport business model framework. The suggested business modeling processes in this study were consisted of four phases; 1) organization strategy level setting phase, 2) business strategy level setting phase, 3) business structure level setting phase, and 4) service level setting phase. The modeling processes were verified to adapt ubiquitous sport business. This designing and modeling process is expected to play a significant role on enhancing the technology-based business environments as the process mainly focuses on the service and consumer oriented approach rather than technology and suppliers oriented approach. In conclusion, establishing sport business models by adapting the service modeling process will deliver an exponential growth and development of future ubiquitous based industry.
A Case Study of Post-Merger IT Integration Methodology on Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions

Recently, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) have become increasingly popular in the last few decades, and overseas` M&A are particularly increasing to sharpen corporate competitiveness on a global scale. Previous studies showed that one of the main reasons attributes to failures of mergers was the lack of attention to merging information systems. In recent years, both academy and industry have more focused on Post-Merger Integration (PMI) and the integration of information systems (IS) between two companies is one of the critical success factors of corporate. This paper focused on Post-Merger IT (Information Technology) Integration Methodology of Cross-Border M&A. We followed a single-site qualitative case study method in order to investigate the type of phenomenon in M&A`s natural setting. Moreover, we examined a typical energy and power company case in order-based industry, so that other industry players may have different results to determine post-merger IT integration method and scope.
A Study on the Critical Success Factors and Practical Method of Information System Disaster Recovery : Assuring Business Continuity of Information System Interface Specification Modeling

Since most of companies these days are utilizing the Information system actively, Information System is the most important factor which should be recovered in terms of Business Continuity. However, a lot of enterprises have been outsourcing their Disaster Recovery Center. Therefore, it is highly possible that the information system can not work well and result in the discontinuity of business when any trouble arises because of seperated plan of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery. The study draws critical success factors for successful disaster recovery through researches of 42 documents. Then, factors are reviewed through interviews with consultants, experts of Business Continuity Plan and the information system officers of domestic banks. Domestic companies can make use of the study when they develop or renew Disaster Recovery Plan or Information System in terms of Business continuity.
An The Service Innovation in the Cultural Industry : Focused on the Characteristic Approach

Recently, the service innovation is getting interests among innovation researchers. After reviewing the Lancasterian approach concerning the service innovation, this paper explains concretely the innovation in the cultural industry, specifically online game industry, using Lancasterian approach. Combining Lancasterian approach and the value chains in the cultural industry systematically, we draw both implications in theory and policy. Theoretically, the innovation in the cultural industry needs interdisciplinary research due to the inclusion of diverse innovation natures-technical, content, and marketing innovation. Also this paper suggests policy makers to apply research and development(R&D) concept in the manufacturing sector to the cultural industry in which content R&D means the creation of new concepts or new development of the service.
Economic Analysis for Packaged Software Adoption : Considering the Number of Concurrent Users

When your company buys packaged software, the company needs to determine how many software licenses must be purchased. If the quantity is too small, it will be not enough for the users to access the programs at anytime within the company. Conversely, if the quantity is too large, they will waste a lot of money. In this paper, we surveyed several number of researchers of K institute and derived the using pattern of a specific packaged software. We estimated a proper number of packaged software licenses by Erlang Loss Function, the Engset Model, and simulation model. With the results of the three methodologies, we were able to empirically verify economic benefits of packaged software purchase by comparing NPV (Net Present Value) between user licenses and network licenses. Consequently, TCO of user licenses is much higher than that of network licenses. We had probabilistically calculated proper number of licenses based on the using pattern of users. Hence, this paper will be useful for decision makers who are going to determine package software`s type and quantity from an economic perspective.
Leadership Competencies of IT Project Managers : from Team Social Capital Perspective

This study explores the applicability of social capital theory in IT project management. Specifically, an empirical model is developed using different types of leadership competencies (emotional, cognitive, and social) as independent constructs impacting IT project performance. Social capital shared among team members are measured and placed as a mediating construct between leadership competencies and performance. Using PLS analysis of 120 data points collected through a survey of IT project participants in two large electronic manufacturers, direct and indirect impacts of leadership competencies are explicated. Research results reveal that emotional leadership competency seems to directly influence the project performance but not through team social capital, while social leadership competency seems to indirectly influence the project performance through team social capital but not directly onto the project performance. Cognitive leadership competency is the only leadership competency that maintains direct and indirect influence on project performance. Total effect of cognitive competency on project performance is almost two times larger than the total effect of emotional leadership competency and six times larger than the total effect of social leadership competency. Implications of findings are discussed at the end, and further studies are suggested.
A Study on the Effective Utilization of Social Media in Organizations : A Focus on Twitter

As the number of smart phone users increases, many organizations begin to adopt social media rapidly to diversify communication channels with customers. Specifically, twitter, which supports instant and two-way communications between users and between organizations and users, has been adopted by many organizations as an efficient way not only to identify new customers but also to retain existing customers. However, little attention has been given to the issue on how organizations can effectively use twitter to improve customer satisfaction. To explore the issue, this study proposes two major dimensions, customer participation and organization resource utilization, which should be considered in building a utilization strategy for twitter in organizations. We then develop four different combinations along with these dimensions-follow, mention, retweet, and review types. Based on case studies of 27 organizations that use twitter, we evaluate the degrees of customer participation, resource utilization, and customer satisfaction, and examine matching or mismatching of the adoption purpose of twitter and its actual utilization. The study results reveal that organizations in the matching group show higher customer satisfaction that those in the mismatching group. This study sheds new light on twitter research by developing a new conceptual framework and using a case study approach to explore the relationship between the utilization strategy of twitter and customer satisfaction.
Development of Evaluation Items and Measurement Indices for Knowledge Management Performance of Government-funded Research Institutes

KAs information and knowledge are increasingly becoming more important in the knowledge-driven society, knowledge management, as a very important management paradigm, is securing firm position in private and public sectors. Complying with this paradigm, government-funded research institutes in science-technology sector are actively utilizing knowledge management by employing knowledge management system and evaluating its applications` performance. The purpose of this study is to develop evaluation items and measurement indices to rationally measure knowledge management performance of the government-funded research institutes and to verify the feasibility of applying these evaluation items and indices. To achieve this research goal, the evaluation model of knowledge management performance was constructed by reviewing and integrating the existing studies, and subsequently, evaluation areas, evaluation items, measurement indices were derived from this evaluation model. Also, the feasibility analysis on the evaluation items and measurement indices was performed by means of FGI(Focus Group Interview) with the knowledge management experts belonging to Korean government-funded institutions in science-technology sector. The implications of this study are as follows : in theoretical perspective, this study has proposed a criterion frame to evaluate knowledge management performance, and has rationally drawn evaluation items and measurement indices from the criterion frame. And in practical perspective, this study has improved the validity and practicality of the measurement indices, which can lead to more reasonable and easier evaluation of knowledge management performance of the government-funded research institutes.
Evaluation on the Relationship between Software Engineering Level and Schedule Deviation in Software Development

Recently, many software companies are trying to improve the software quality and project outcome with more costs and efforts in development time. In the software convergence and integration environments, it is required efforts to gain high quality of software. In other words, it is required to utilize software engineering knowledge and technology for higher software quality and better software project productivity. The Software development productivity can be varied by software process capability according to building a framework for software development, selection and use of appropriate technology, human resource management. Software process capability will influence software project outcome which is the general opinion. This study provides empirical evidence about software engineering efforts and investment approach to lead software project performance. We measured the software engineering efforts by SW engineering level and analyzed the corelation between software engineering level and schedule deviation. And, we verified that this performance is affected by the size of software company. As a result, software process capability is important to build a infrastructure and develop systematically software project. The higher software engineering level can lead to improved software project performance.
Test Assertion Language for Unit Test : Design and Implementation

Unit testing which is the first task to perform software testing has a major impact on reducing s/w development cost and improving s/w quality. In order to make unit testing become the formal procedure rather than ad-hoc tasks performed by developer, the language-neutral measures are necessary in the programming which is able to specify the test cases. This paper presents a test assertion language for the language-neutral specification of the test cases. The suggested language is based on the ISO/IEC 24709-1, but it supports object oriented features and can describe test cases for unit testing. The test cases that are specified by the language can be used for generating test oracle source codes by test oracle generation tools.
New Coupling Metrics for SOA Based Softwares

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is rapidly emerging as the efficient approach in contemporary complex, heterogeneous computing environments. SOA increases the adaptability by loose coupling and its main feature is that three elements such as service provider, service requester and service registry are connected with each other systematically. To design the service-oriented system efficiently, a metric to measure the coupling between services accurately is needed. In this paper, we propose four coupling metrics for SOA based softwares. First, we suggest a coupling metric for service-oriented systems by modifying an established coupling metric of object-oriented systems. Then we suggest another coupling metric which includes indirect coupling between services. We also suggest two relative coupling metrics to measure coupling between subsystems. We investigate the theoretical soundness of the proposed metrics by the axioms of Briand et al. Finally, we apply the presented metrics to an industrial-scale case study.
Measurement and Analysis Process Improvement Based on CMMI

It is necessary to have measurement and analysis activity for managing software project. At least, every project measures time and cost in order to figure it out whether it will finish within its deadline. CMMI has Measurement and Analysis process in Maturity Level 2. In Measurement and Analysis process, Indicators for decision making in project management are defined and analysis procedure of the measurements to get the indicators are specified. Also, the way of collecting the data and storing them is also planned. Establishing efficient and effective measurement and analysis process in the organization by improving existing process is very important for project success. In this paper, we provide a method for analyzing the measurement and analysis process and improving it based on IDEAL model. It will support the organizations which are trying to adopt CMMI to establish measurement and analysis process.
A Design and Implementation of Security Image Information Search Service System using Location Information Based RSSI of ZigBee

With increasing interest in ubiquitous computing technology, an infrastructure for the short-distance wireless communication has been extended socially, bringing spotlight to the security system using the image or location. In case of existing security system, there have been issues such as the occurrences of blind spots, difficulty in recognizing multiple objects and storing of the unspecified objects. In order to solve this issue, zone-based location-estimation search system for the image have been suggested as an alternative based on the real-time location determination technology combined with image. This paper intends to suggest the search service for the image zone-based location-estimation. For this, it proposed the location determination algorism using IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee`s RSSI and for real-time image service, the RTP/RTCP protocol was applied. In order to combine the location and image, at the event of the entry of the specified target, the record of the time for image and the time of occurrence of the event on a global time standard, it has devised a time stamp, applying XML based meta data formation method based on the media`s feature data based in connection with the location based data for the events of the object. Using the proposed meta data, the service mode which can search for the image from the point in time when the entry of the specified target was proposed.
A Speed-Based Dijkstra Algorithm for the Line Tracer Control of a Robot

A robot education system by emulation based on Web can be efficiently used for understanding concept of robot assembly practice and control mechanism of robot by control programming. It is important to predict the path of the line tracer robot which has to be decided by the robot. Shortest Path Algorithm is a well known algorithm which searches the most efficient path between the start node and the end node. There are two related typical algorithms. Dijkstra Algorithm searches the shortest path tree from a node to the rest of the other nodes.
Algorithm searches the shortest paths among all nodes. The delay time caused by turning the direction of navigation for the line tracer robot at the crossroads can give big differences to the travel time of the robot. So we need an efficient path determine algorithm which can solve this problem. Thus, It is necessary to analyze the overhead of changing direction of robot at multi-linked node to determine the next direction for efficient routings. In this paper, we reflect the real delay time of directional changing from the real robot. A speed based Dijkstra algorithm is proposed and compared with the previous ones to analyze the performance.
Ontology-based Points of Interest Data Model for Mobile Augmented Reality

Mobile Augmented Reality (mobile AR), as one of the most prospective mobile applications, intends to provide richer experiences by annotating tags or virtual objects over the scene observed through camera embedded in a handheld device like smartphone or pad. In this paper, we analyzed the current status of the art of mobile AR and proposed a novel Points of Interest (POIs) data model based on ontology to provide context-aware information retrievals on lots of POIs data. Proposed ontology was expanded from the standard POIs data model of W3C POIs Working Group and established using OWL (Web Ontology Language) and Protege. We also proposed a context-aware mobile AR platform which can resolve three distinguished issues in current platforms : interoperability problem of POI tags, POIs data retrieval issue, and context-aware service issue.
Efficient Software Licensing Management Strategy for Server Consolidation and Virtualization Using the N-Datacenter Case

Server consolidation and virtualization have become an integral part of IT planning to reduce TCO cost and ensure the high availability for customer, enlarge the flexibility to computing resource in today` enterprise data centers. In spite of having the variety advantages of server consolidation and virtualization, they cause many problems such as the software licensing issues, virtual server sprawl, network complexity issues, hardware start-up costs, and failover costs. In particular, software licensing problem brings about the serious results in operating of data center and also presents a significant challenge to virtualization because many vendors have realized that licensing policies applicable to physical systems are not compatible with virtual machines. So, the IT planers must be considering this problem before they conducts the server consolidation and virtualization. In this paper, we proposed the efficiency strategy of SW licensing for server consolidation and virtualization analyzing the N-Datacenter case in Korea. As a result, we suggest the two strategies as technical and management/contract aspect. First, as the technical aspect, we propose i) the adaptation of suitable licensing for virtualization, ii) differentiation of license according to the characteristics of server, iii) the core distribution of licenses to minimizing. Second, as the management/contract aspect, we suggest following three things. i) The existing license agreement is changed to the right licensing for virtualization. ii) The license agreement is contracts the active focused. iii) When a new contract should be added to virtualization provisions.
A Study on Knowledge Service R&D Management Process Innovation : Through Marketing Intelligence Solution Development Case

The purpose of this research is to find a better knowledge service R&D management process. There are four basic characteristics in service : intangibility, inseparability, inconsistency, and no inventory. These intrinsic characteristics require us to change the traditional manufacturing sector based R&D management process. It is necessary to develop an effective knowledge service R&D management model to improve the competitiveness of the service industry and Korean economy. A model case knowledge service R&D has been performed to find a better R&D management model. The whole cycle of R&D process, such as planning, selection, performing, and evaluation has been reviewed by real experience. Several important aspects of R&D process are compared between manufacturing R&D and service R&D. A knowledge service R&D management framework has been suggested. The results of this research can be used for building a better service R&D management process.
A Study on the u-Residential Space Service : Focusing on u-Service Extraction and Application

The u-City construction plan being executed presently involves such problem that services are provided in a suppliers-oriented direction while there are not much discussions on what u-Services citizens should be provided with and what u-Services that city government the supplier shall provide. In order to implement citizen-friendly u-Services the type of u-Services that offer just the right services efficient and convenient for citizens, u-Services should be provided based on active researches on the citizens` use and utilization of u-Services rather than u-Services being provided in suppliers` perspective as so far. To that end, there need be recognition and well-organized methodology that u-Services should be provided through humane, social and scientific analysis of the citizens that are to be provided with u-Services. Thus, in this study, the process of u-Services being transmitted was re-interpreted as background theory to deduce and apply services appropriate for u-Residential Space, and service science for u-Services the scientific and overall approach to seek for service innovation was applied to the development of u-Service deduction method based on such background theory. The u-Service methodology developed based on service science is judged able to deduce and provide u-Services appropriate for the intended services through scientific analysis of citizen-friendly u-Services.
