Lee, Bo-Kyoung ; Shim, Seon-Young ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 19~47
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.019
Contemporary smartphone competition is generally described as the battle between Apple's proprietary platform and Google's open platform. However, this competition is not limited within smartphone adoption itself. User's pre-adoption of one mobile platform via smartphone can be connected to the post-adoption of the same mobile platform based on the other smart devices (e.g. smart pad). In this study, we investigate whether user's preference to a certain platform is persistent over mobile ecology, from the pre-adoption of one smart device to the post-adoption of following devices. For this investigation, we adopt the dual-model as the ground theory, where post-adoption of IT product is explained by both dedication and constraint factors. The empirical testing first evidences that dual model works well as our research model for identifying the reasons of post-adoption. Next, we group our data into two parts in order to compare the switching behavior of iPhone users and Android phone users. iPhone users show much lower switching rate to Android based smart pads, while Android phone users show higher churn rate to iPad (49.3% : 96.3%). Especially, satisfaction showed much stronger effect than switching cost on the continuing intention of existing platform, when the analysis is given to the iPhone user's group. From this result, we can conjecture the relatively stronger loyalty of iPhone users. More managerial implications on the mobile platform strategy are driven.

Chang, Young-Il ; Kim, Kyoung-Hwan ; Jung, You-Soo ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 49~68
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.049
The purpose of this study is to analyse the country image, the pre-assessment, and the usage intention about overseas internet shopping mall service in china and how these factors are related to one another according to internet shopping mall using experience. And this study divided the country image for internet shopping mall service into two components : general country attribute and general service product attribute. In this study it is found that the country image of international internet shopping service is directly related to the pre-assessment, and the pre-assessment is related to usage intention especially in case that chinese consumer has a lot of internet shopping mall using experience. In the other case, the general country attributes affect the general service product attributes but the general service product attributes don't have any relationship with the pre-assessment. For a successful international internet shopping mall service business in China, marketer should recognize that it is important to formulate the policy extending the internet shopping mall experience as well as using the country image.

Cho, Chun-Han ; Ahn, Seung-Ho ; Son, Young-Don ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 69~91
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.069
The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of direction of comments about online reviews and the credibility of web sites on brand attitudes toward restaurants. Also, the study compared two study results using Korean and Chinese on-line users to assess the feasibility of the application of on-line marketing developed in Korea to Chinese internet user contexts. The results show that the credibility of web sites and the direction of comments influence the brand attitude as hypothesized. Overall, the results from two country consumer groups are similar. However, there are unique results including the significant interaction effects between the direction of comments and the credibility of web sites only for Chinese on-line users on the brand evaluation tasks and for Korean on-line users on the purchase intention. The cultural value might cause these different results across the nations.
A Study on Voluntary Acceptance and Diffusion of Game Shut-Down Policy Based on Excellence Theory and Psychological Reactance Theory
Park, Chan-Uk ; Lee, Sin-Bok ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 93~106
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.093
Recently, a Game Shut-down policy, partially limiting the time for the use of online game service, has been implemented in order to protect the youth from the excessive use of games by limiting their access to games in the late hours, based on the serious side effects of online games on the youth. However, the effectiveness of a Game Shut-down policy becomes a social issue. Thus, this study aims to investigate the alternative policies through the levels of the communications suggested by the theory of excellence, for the successful implementation of the policy. As a result of the study, the government and students, the recipient of those policies, need to strengthen their two-way communication in respect of the Game Shut-down policy, breaking from the existing views on the perception. The problem is that the current government's way of the communication for the Game Shut-down policy is one-way and it is aiming at achieving the objectives only. Thus, the communication in this manner will cause the side effect. 'the opportunistic violation of the system in the future', even if the students seemingly accept the system. Two-way communication will enhance the motivation for the voluntary acceptance of the system and lower the motivation for the opportunistic violation of the system. Thus, the government needs to strengthen two-way communication in the future.

Recently, as the clouding computing begins to receive a great attention from people all over the world, it became the most popular buzz word in recent IT magazines or journal and heard it in many different services or different fields. However, a notion of the cloud service is defined vaguely compared to increasing attentions from others. Generally the cloud service could be understood as a specific service model base on the clouding computing, but the cloud, the cloud computing, the cloud computing service and cloud service, these four all terms are often used without any distinction of its notions and characteristics so that it's difficult to define the exact nature of the cloud service. To explore and analyze the cloud service systematically, an accurate conception and scope have to be preceded. Therefore this study is to firstly clarify its definition by Delpi method using expert group and then tries to provide the foundation needed to enable relative research such as establishing business model or value chain and policies for its activation to set off. For the Delpi, 16 experts participated in several surveys from different fields such industry, academy and research sector. As a result of the research, Characteristics of the Cloud Service are followings : Pay per use, Scalability, Internet centric Virtualization. And the scope as defined including Grid Computing, Utility Computing, Server Based Computing, Network Computing.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 119~130
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.119
Nowadays, encryption is core technology widely used in IT industry to protect private information of individuals and important intellectual assets of companies. However, when criminals and terror suspects abuse such technology, national security can be threatened and law enforcement can be disturbed. To prevent such adverse effects of cryptography, some nations have enacted legislations that allow legally obtained encrypted data to be decrypted by certain law enforcement agencies. Hence it is imperative that firms having international presence understand and comply by each nation's regulations on decryption order. This paper explains circumstances under which legislations on decryption order were established, organizes countries with regulations and punishment, explores what global enterprises need to consider in making policies to effectively respond to decryption orders, and suggests that technological methods and managerial guidelines for control of encryption be established.

DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.131
The purpose of this research is two-fold : (1) we propose the paradigm to construct a connected information society according to a judgment where a coming information society will evolve into highly-connected information society having "seamlessness" as a keyword, and (2) we draw guidelines to construct infrastructures and establish systems and business models of highly-connected information society based on suggested paradigm. To achieve this, this research conducts the followings. First, we suggest reasons why a coming information society can be appropriate to be considered as highly-connected information society by examining two perspectives on the coming information society. Second, we explain the definition and characteristics of highly-connected information society and propose the SPB paradigm. Third, we analyze the utility of SPB paradigm by evaluating practices. Finally, we suggest four strategies to construct highly-connected information society based on advanced research findings and future research directions.

Han, Hyun-Soo ; Woo, Jeong-Ah ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 147~167
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.147
In this paper, we attempted to theorize the multi-faceted impacts of smart work on economic activities. In this vein, we adopted socio-economic perspective which includes individual, firm, and social support aspects, and explored the variables related to the quality of life among them. First, smart work patterns are categorized as telework, mobile office, teleconferencing, and social collaboration. And relevant variables are extracted with reference to industrial cases and relevant literatures which investigated economic impacts of digital convergence. Next, with the data collected from experts, following delphi method, validation of variables and explorations of significant factors affecting quality of life were conducted by adopting stepwise regression method. The distinguishing traits of this research are two-folds. The one is the investigation of social support and quality of life aspects of smart work, which has been relatively limited in the digital convergence research field. The other is the comparative analysis of smart work advantages by distinguishing individual and firm aspects separately. The result offers useful insights for socio-economic perspective researches on digital convergence application area.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 213~228
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.213
The construction of the Geographical Information System(GIS) is continuously in progress, and with the diversification and complication of the system, the importance of its audit is further deepened. At this point in time, the information system audit has been obligatory as it has been stipulated in law, and the GIS audit has come to follow the criterion of the information system audit since it belongs to the information system audit category. However, it was found that there was a difference between the current information system audit standard and the former GIS audit standard, and the audit checking items for the efficient GIS audit is necessary. For this reason, this paper surveyed the characteristics of GIS in accordance with this necessity, analyzed the GIS audit checking items found in the audit performance guideline of the GIS audit standard, and studied the GIS development methodology through the related literature. In addition, this paper also elicited and proposed the audit checking items for the efficient GIS audit based on the findings of this paper. Finally, this paper confirmed the efficiency of the GIS audit checking items proposed here through the comparison of the actual cases of GIS audits.

Lim, Gyoo-Gun ; Lee, Dae-Chul ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 243~258
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.243
The G2B system is one of the important information systems in the e-government implementation. It is difficult to measure the cost reduction effect of the system introduction because there are many participants in the complex procurement processes. Previous approaches of the performance evaluation of such processes have been based on conducting some surveys and interviews with statistical methods. Therefore there have been some limitations in the verification of feasibility. Therefore this study tries to suggest a case of performance evaluation about the cost reduction in using of the G2B system by analyzing operational DB data from the G2B system. This study analyzed the procurement processes of G2B system according to 'goods' and 'facilities/services' and classified the procurement processes into 12 sub-processes. By developing an evaluation model for the cost reduction of e-procurement, we derived the whole cost reduction effect was 8,000 billon Won for the use of Korea KONEPS G2B system in 2008. Specially the cost reduction in the private sector was 6,600 billion Won. It was mainly due to the decrease of the offline visits to the related organizations to participate a bidding process. Moreover, the cost reduction of using shopping mall was 1,000 billion Won among the total 1,400 billion Won in the whole public sector. The main contribution of this paper is to show the more objective evaluation result of the use of e-procurement, which verifies the necessity of G2B system.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 259~274
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.259
A well organized system requirements provide a solid basis of achiving a successful project and are effective methods of communication among stakeholders. We illustrate and propose a 'System Requirement Development Framework' to develop correct requirements as a methodical approach. We first organize a 'Requirement Development Process' and then establish a 'Non-Functional Requirements Principle'. On these basis, we next propose a 'Requirement Development Guideline' from a perspective of 'Functional Requirement', 'Non-Functional Requirement' and 'Triage' in advanced stages. We also verify and evaluate the suitability of our proposed 'System Requirement Development Framework' by applying it to several projects.

DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.275
Although the specification of packaging box is one of the most important process to be considered before deciding cost in terms of production and logistics, there are no efficient services in our country at this time as such the making decision only through the empirical knowledge. In this research, we have developed the packaging specification design system based on the web online packaging IT service. The developed system was advanced from the existing-inefficient process of deciding the specification of packaging box, and which can decide the specification of packaging box considering the efficiency of logistics through use of IT based tool. Therefore, this study shows applied cases of normalized packaging process through the obtained packaging design simulation program. The packaging specification design system can provide the simulation and user interface. Those could calculate the specification of packaging box(packaging box size, packaging box quantity, packaging box pattern, packaging compressive strength, packaging cost etc.) considering the efficiency of logistics.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 291~306
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.291
Recently, Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) technology recently has been used in various industries. Especially, a number of multi-channel assignment schemes have been presented to improve the throughput of IEEE 802.11-based multi-hop WMN. However, performance of the conventional multi-channel assignment schemes is not enough to satisfy the industry requirements. We, thus, should study more about the multi-channel assignment scheme in order to enhance the performance. This paper proposes a novel channel assignment scheme that employs Multi-channel and Multi-Interface in the WMN. The proposed scheme can obtain the traffic information of the network and the efficient channel assignment result without any message exchanges. We verify the efficiency of the proposed scheme through the mathematical modeling and the real-world experiments. The results show that the proposed scheme improves the throughput of the network compared with the conventional schemes.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 2, 2012, Pages 307~317
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.2.307
We investigate the long-term effect of servitization strategy on firm value. Manufacturing companies recognize servitization as their competitive strategies. While most of existing literature have focused on developing theory, presenting framework, or cases, only a few papers examine effects of servitization strategy empirically. We aims to empirically test the long-term relationship between servitization strategy and firm value. Service ratio and Tobin's q are used to measure the degree of servitization and firm performance, respectively. Data set covers 130 manufacturing companies for 12 years from 1998 to 2009.

Mobile communication technology is advancing forward to deliver more connected devices and richer content and applications. The number of subscriptions continues to grow along with an explosive increase in the mobile data traffic demand. Thereby, it creates a significant network capacity shortage concerns for mobile network operators. In order to address this problem, it is essential to increase the network capacity at a low additional cost. The device-to-device (D2D) communication based proximity service is believed to have a promising future mobile communication technology that is capable to create new mobile service opportunities and offload traffic to the eNB. In addition, it is also required to develop new mobile communication services and its business models not only to accommodate the increasing mobile traffic demand but also to foster profitability of mobile business service providers such as the network providers, contents providers and platform providers. In this article, we first analyze current mobile business eco-system in the context of CPNT based value chain. Then, propose service development framework and business model creation methodologies for the device-to-device communication based services in the beyond LTE/LTE-Advanced systems.
