Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 1~23
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.001
The growing interest in smartphones has increased the number of studies conducted on technology acceptance and user satisfaction. It is now over two years since the launching of smartphones, but there are not many researches on the usage behavior of today's smartphone users. Smart devices have evolved from smartphone to smart pad and smart TV, but there are still not many studies on variables such as knowledge about the parent product and the ability to use it. With this, I decided to study how the motivation and the ability of using smartphones affected the smartphone user's intention to use smartpads. This study presents the usage behavior of smartphone users and proves that the ability to use a parent product (smartphone) affects the user's intention to use an extension product (smartpad). The research results showed that the smartphone usage ability affected both variety of use and rate of use. The convenience and passing time factors affected variety of use; and the social interaction, entertainment and passing time factors affected rate of use. As for the intention to use smartpads, the smartphone usage ability and variety of use positively affected the smartphone user's intention to use smartpads. This study showed that the more the user used a smartphone to pass time and for convenience, the more effectively the user could use various functions. It proves that the variety of use of smartphone is highly related to the acceptance of smartpads. This study also proves that usage ability is an important factor in using innovative products, such as smart devices.

Lee, Heon-Yeong ; Choi, Yeseul ; Lim, Up ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 25~37
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.025
In recent year, the u-City construction projects which integrate IT technology into urban infrastructures are being pushed forward by many local governments. These projects contain various purposes in an aspect of regional economy : to reinforce a competitiveness of region by increasing efficiency of urban managements and to revitalize regional economy by stimulating the regional high-tech industries that related to u-City construction. In this context, regional economic impact assessment of u-City construction projects is particularly important because, it give us information about effectiveness of u-City construction policy as a stimulus of regional high-tech industries and the policy feasibility of u-City construction projects that can be a base of public projects. However, it is challenging to assess the impact of u-City projects on regional economy properly due to a lack of understanding about industrial classification, and specific industrial inputs related to u-City construction. In this study, we suggest u-City industrial classifications, and specific-industrial inputs induced by u-City construction projects based on associated legislations, business report for a u-City construction, and results from previous studies. Using these classification and industrial input, we also investigate the regional economic impacts of a u-City construction project in Wha-sung and Dong-tan cities employing Input-output analysis. The empirical results suggests that u-City industries have relatively high in production inducement, and value added inducement compared to input of other industrial sectors. These results indicate that regional economic impact of a Wha-sung and Dong-tan u-City construction project are relatively high, but economic impacts of u-City construction projects vary according to the regional industrial structure, and the specific expense accounts of u-City construction projects.

With the obligation of information system supervision and an increase in supervision demands, the quality improvement in information system supervision has been of significance, and the supervision system has been enhanced in the way of preventing information systems from being poorly established. In the meantime, recently the supervision industry has received administrative punishment due to violation of supervision guidelines and false reports. As a result, the introduction of the responsible supervision of information systems to strengthen the rights and duties of supervisors and supervision corporations has been discussed by supervision corporations. Therefore, this work was intended to propose success factors to introduce responsible supervision in the information system supervision sector, and thereby contribute to the introduction of responsible supervision system that plays a successful role in preventing poor supervision and establishing information system business. The success factors of the responsible supervision of information systems, proposed in this work, were categorized into legal system, standardization of supervision work, those concerned with supervision. And, detailed success factors of each category were proposed, and on the basis of that, the success model to introduce responsible supervision successfully was proposed.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 51~67
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.051
In recent years, research has begun to place greater emphasis on the strategic use of IT in seeking to build firm's capability, thus innovating firm's business value. Many leading firms have been put efforts to formulate and implement IT governance (ITG) structures, processes, and mechanisms for firm's IT activities. However, recent literatures reviews found that ITG framework have been discussed independently rather than in an integrated and on convergent manner failing to provide comprehensive conceptual framework. The objective of this paper is therefore, to develop a conceptual framework that enable to conduct a comparative ITG case studies. The proposed framework, developed by one of author, has extensively applied in real case study to validate its usefulness and also aims to contribute practitioners to understand how well IT principles are formed within the organization as well as corelate with ITG objectives and ITG execution.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 69~85
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.069
This paper analyzes how IT adoption affects differently on the shippers' make-buy decision, depending on the changes through agency and coordination problems. Empirical findings are consistent with the theoretical predictions on the changes of shippers' decision, summarized as follows. First, while the adoption of agency-cost reducing IT leads to the increase in the proportion of private fleets, the adoption of coordination-cost reducing IT leads to the increase in proportion of for-hire carriage. Second, the extent of private fleets changes depends on the primary product type that trucks load, with products of important service task experiencing more increase. Third, the extent of for-hire carriage changes depends on the truck's trip distance, with long-trip trucks experiencing more increase. With the results, we present different policy implications from the conventionally advocated ones.

DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.087
The purpose of this case study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the disruptive innovation strategy based on the Resources Process Values(RPV) theory for a successful firm. Disruptive innovations seemed not initially perform well enough to be sold or used successfully in markets. The products and services used disruptive technologies have not been as effective as those used in the established markets. However, they have other attributes such as simplicity, convenience, and low cost, which appeal to a new, small and initially unattractive set in new or low-end applications. The Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.(HHI) performed the Jubail Industrial Harbour Project(JIHP), which built the Open Sea Tanker Terminal(OSTT) in Saudi Arabia, using the disruptive innovation strategy in order to lower the manufacturing cost of the offshore jacket and to complete the project successfully. The HHI developed the design and drawing systems to manufacture the jacket and also developed the HYundai Jacket Analysis System(HYJAS) software to use the structural analysis against stresses from rolling and pitching of the barge while transporting the jacket by sea.

The core infra-technology in the ubiquitous era, RFID which has taken action from the public institution with the pilot projects as well as the practical projects is gradually extending its spectrum to the private enterprises. Along with its expansion, the audit required on the RFID-based information system is also growing in the industry. Especially, since RFID-based information systems, especially compared to other information systems, are likely to be exposed to many threats, the security audit for them is being emphasized. This paper suggests security audit checking items for the RFID-based information system, which can be used to perform the efficient security audit. The security audit checking items consist of eight basic checking items, each of which consists of detailed review items and can be applied for each building steps of the system(analysis, design, implementation, testing, and development). Finally, this paper confirmed the efficiency of the security audit checking items proposed in this paper through survey by the experienced auditors and analysis of practical audit cases.

Kim, Sanghoon ; Kim, Changkyu ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 135~151
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.135
Traditionally in IS studies, the relationship between construct and its measurement items tends to be assumed to be reflective, meaning that the measurements are a reflection of the construct. In reality, however, the nature of the construct can be often formative, which means that its measurement items describe and define the construct rather than vice versa. The purpose of this study was to investigate theoretical and empirically-analysed differences between formative construct and reflective construct through comprehensive interdisciplinary literature review. And then on the basis of these differences, we intended to derive the rule of specifying whether the construct is formative or reflective and propose the methodology of testing the validity(content validity, construct validity, internal consistency and external construct) of formative construct and its measurements, differentiated from that in the case of reflective construct. Also, we suggested the concrete statistical testing methods such as VTT(Vanishing Tetrad Test), MIMIC(Multiple Indicators and Multiple Causes) test and multi-collinearity test. In order to examine the applicability of this methodology to developing the constructs for performance evaluation of IS(Information Systems), we tried to identify its attribute(formative or reflective) and test the validity for the construct arbitrarily chosen among them which had been derived in our previous IS performance evaluation study by using this methodology. The result of the examination was that the methodology proposed in this study was significantly valid and effective in the area of IS performance evaluation.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 153~170
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.153
When companies or institutes manage data, in order to utilize it as useful resources for decision-making, it is essential to offer precise and reliable data. While most small and medium-sized enterprises and public institutes have been investing a great amount of money in management and maintenance of their data systems, the investment in data management has been inadequate. When public institutions establish their data systems, inspection has been constantly carried out on the data systems in order to improve safety and effectiveness. However, their capabilities in improving the quality of data have been insufficient. This study develops an automatic tool to diagnose the quality of data in a way to diagnose the data quality condition of the inspected institute quantitatively at the stage of design and closure by inspecting the data system and proves its practicality by applying the automatic tool to inspection. As a means to diagnose the quality, this study categorizes, in the aspect of quality characteristics, the items that may be improved through diagnosis at the stage of design, the early stage of establishing the data system and the measurement items by the quality index regarding measurable data values at the stage of establishment and operation. The study presents a way of quantitative measurement regarding the data structures and data values by concretizing the measurement items by quality index in a function of the automatic tool program. Also, the practicality of the tool is proved by applying the tool in the inspection field. As a result, the areas which the institute should improve are reported objectively through a complete enumeration survey on the diagnosed items and the indicators for quality improvement are presented quantitatively by presenting the quality condition quantitatively.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 171~180
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.171
Since software and hardware integration has became a strategic tool for companies to innovate their products, an information system that can comprehensively manage software and hardware integrated product development is critical for the current product development. This paper proposed a product data model that can support modules of related software and hardware parts in Product Data Management(PDM) integrated with Software Configuration Management(SCM). The model allows engineers to define software and hardware product structure independently, and support the integration module that can summon related software and hardware parts to build a comprehensive module for collaboration. Through the integration module, engineers can identify and examine the effectiveness of their design alternatives to other related parts form different disciplines. The product data model was implemented as a prototype PDM system and tested with an example robotics product.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 195~213
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.195
In ubiquitous environments, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) protocol is a typical service used to improve the quality of life for humans. The Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) protocol, a part of ITS, needs further study with regards to its support for high reliability, high speed mobility, data transmission efficiency, and so on. The IEEE 802.11 standard provides a high data rate channel, but it was designed for peer-to-peer network protocols. IEEE 802.11p also provides a high data rate channel, however, it only facilitates communication between roadside and on-board equipment. A VANET has characteristics that enable its topology to change rapidly; it can also be expanded to a multi-hop range network during communication. Therefore, the VANET protocol needs a way to infer the current topology information relating to VANET equipped vehicles. In this paper, we present the Multi-Beacon MAC Protocol, and propose a method to resolve the problem of beacon collisions in VANET through the use of this Multi-Beacon MAC protocol. Evaluation of the performance of Multi-Beacon MAC protocol by means of both mathematical analyses and simulation experiments indicate that the proposed method can effectively reduce beacon collisions and improve the throughput and the delay between vehicles in VANET systems.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 215~231
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.215
It is well known that SaaS(Software as a Service) changeover gives several advantages to organization. One of the advantages is the cost reduction effect of IT resources as well as IT human resources. Another one is the curtailment of software development workload in the field of informatization promotions. Nonetheless, it is hard to find comparison cases regarding the quantitative measurement of the introduction of SaaS before and after. Accordingly, when the Government IDC tries to adopt SaaS, it absolutely needs the empirical study whether SaaS is cost-effectiveness or not. In this study, we focus on variation in the Government administration common tasks, processes and labor costs. Using the Man-Month(MM) estimation methods, We verify that how much TCO(Total Cost of Ownership) is reduced per year.
Credit Card Bad Debt Prediction Model based on Support Vector Machine
Kim, Jin Woo ; Jhee, Won Chul ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 233~250
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.233
In this paper, credit card delinquency means the possibility of occurring bad debt within the certain near future from the normal accounts that have no debt and the problem is to predict, on the monthly basis, the occurrence of delinquency 3 months in advance. This prediction is typical binary classification problem but suffers from the issue of data imbalance that means the instances of target class is very few. For the effective prediction of bad debt occurrence, Support Vector Machine (SVM) with kernel trick is adopted using credit card usage and payment patterns as its inputs. SVM is widely accepted in the data mining society because of its prediction accuracy and no fear of overfitting. However, it is known that SVM has the limitation in its ability to processing the large-scale data. To resolve the difficulties in applying SVM to bad debt occurrence prediction, two stage clustering is suggested as an effective data reduction method and ensembles of SVM models are also adopted to mitigate the difficulty due to data imbalance intrinsic to the target problem of this paper. In the experiments with the real world data from one of the major domestic credit card companies, the suggested approach reveals the superior prediction accuracy to the traditional data mining approaches that use neural networks, decision trees or logistics regressions. SVM ensemble model learned from T2 training set shows the best prediction results among the alternatives considered and it is noteworthy that the performance of neural networks with T2 is better than that of SVM with T1. These results prove that the suggested approach is very effective for both SVM training and the classification problem of data imbalance.
Effort Analysis of Unit Testing Conducted by Non-Developer of Source Code
Yoon, Hoijin ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 251~262
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.251
Unit testing is one of the test levels, which tests an individual unit or a group of related units. Recently, in Agile Development or Safety-critical System Development, the unit testing plays an important role for the qualities. According to the definition of unit testing, it is supposed to be done by the developers of units. That is because test models for the unit testing refers to the structure of units, and others but its original developers hardly can understand the structures. However, in practice, unit testing is often asked to be done without the original developers. For example, it is when faults are revealed in customer sites and the development team does not exit any more. In this case, instead of original developers, other developers or test engineers take a product and test it. The unit testing done by a non-developer, who is not the original developer, would cause some difficulties or cause more cost. In this paper, we tests an open source, JTopas, as a non-developer, with building test models, implementing test codes, and executing test cases. To fit this experiment to practical testing situations, we designed it based on the practices of unit testing, which were surveyed through SPIN(Software Process Improvement Network). This paper analyzes which part of unit testing done by non-developers needs more effort compared to the unit testing done by original developers. And it concludes that Agile Development contributes on reducing the extra effort caused by non-developers, since it implements test codes first before developing source code. That means all the units have already included their own tests code when they are released.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 263~275
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.263
It is becoming hard to maintain web applications because of high complexity and duplication of web pages. However, most of research about code clone is focusing on code hunks, and their target is limited to a specific language. Thus, we propose GSIM, a language-independent statistical approach to detect similar pages based on scarcity and frequency of customized tokens. The tokens, which can be obtained from pages splitted by a set of given separators, are defined as atomic elements for calculating similarity between two pages. In this paper, the domain definition for web applications and algorithms for collecting tokens, making matrics, calculating similarity are given. We also conducted experiments on open source codes for evaluation, with our GSIM tool. The results show the applicability of the proposed method and the effects of parameters such as threshold, toughness, length of tokens, on their quality and performance.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 295~308
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.295
Software and Systems Product Line(SSPL) is a paradigm that has been developed and applied by European Union(EU) to achieve the productivity and competitiveness of EU industries on the world market. It is not just a simple system or software development methodology, but a sophisticated technology requiring capabilities for a high level of mass customization, platforms, processes and convergence of software and systems. EU has applied SSPL for the five selected industrial sectors including aerospace, automobile, medical equipment, consumer electronics and telecommunication equipment since 1990s and led the way to other industry sectors to stimulate the application of SSPL from 2006. In order for Korea to secure competitiveness in the manufacturing and service industries in the competitive borderless market, it is essential to gain the high level of capabilities for software development and convergence of software and systems. SSPL can be a powerful means to achieve this end. This paper discusses the paradigmatic concept of SSPL, how EU's major industries and companies have secured competitiveness through SSPL, key capabilities that are necessary for successful institutionalization of SSPL in Korea, and finally suggestions on core strategies to materialize the benefits of SSPL for Korea.

Ham, Yeon-Joo ; Jo, Hyung-Rae ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 11, issue 4, 2012, Pages 309~333
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2012.11.4.309
Recently, emergence of smart-phones and Social Networking Service(SNS) would offer the market environment changes and the opportunities for new business. For the case analysis comprehensive survey were implemented. And those data were analyzed along the research framework. The late-comer firms offered differential services, maintained creative and opened corporate culture, shoed learning capabilities which means absorption and organization of external knowledge, innovative efforts to control the insurgents than early-mover firms. When we analyze these phenomena along the developmental stages of late-comer, we can perceive that the stage of late-comers firms were moving from the "tracing the path" stage to "jumping the path" stage which means the creating capabilities were more or less enhanced and the firms become more stable in terms of business operation. In business model, early-mover firms showed clear definition for each business element, especially the revenue structure, while late-mover firms seemed unstable or unclear revenue structure.
