The Effect of Technostress on Counterproductive Work Behavior
Lee, Jaekang ; Park, Taekyung ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 14, issue 4, 2015, Pages 1~14
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.001
Due to advances in information and communication technologies (ICTs) and the advent of the Smartphone, people have access to the internet and can work at any time and any where. These are however likely to cause negative effects such as the personal information leakage and invasion of privacy. Caused by negative aspects of ICTs, the stress is so-called technostress. Recently, it is reported that managers tend to task order to their subordinates using an SNS or mobile messenger on a real-time basis after office hours or even on holiday, leading to a sharp increase in technostress. While previous studies of stress indicate that it is associated with the counter-productive work behavior (CWB), no empirical evidence has shown about the relationship between technostress and CWB. This study aims to explore the effect of technostress on CWB. In addition, it seeks to clarify the moderating effect of leader-member exchange(LMX) in this relationship. Drawing on literature regarding technostress and CWB, hypotheses are developed and tested with the sample of 101 using regression analyses. Results show that technostress has a significantly positive effect on CWB, but LMX has an insignificant moderating effect in the relationship between technostress and CWB. Implications and limitations with suggestions for future studies are presented.

SMBA (Small and Medium Business Administration) and TIPA (Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs) have operated the Business Innovation Platform for SME Informatization based on cloud computing technology with the cooperation of seven industry cooperatives since 2013. This project will evolve into the open market platform where service providers and users voluntarily participate and transact. This research conducts the literature review about the concept of open market and the empirical analysis through survey for the software providers and the future users regarding the future operation methods. The policy about how the open market strategy for the business innovation platform needs to be designed and implemented are organized as the three differentiated government support strategies. The first is to provide free IT services including specialized core operation support S/W which is developed only for the small or home office group of firms which lack minimal informatization capability and budget. The second is to augment IT platform service through incorporating ERP supplier initiated commercial S/W sales window for those firms having medium level informatization capability. This includes to provide IT support for customization and system integration with existing government subsidized S/W. The third is to provide upgrading services of existing S/W functions to facilitate better system utilization. The results provide useful insight for government role to enhance SME competitiveness using IT.

Local governments in Korea are involved in three types of online shopping sites : 'direct operation', 'outsourced operation', and 'sales agency.' They are different in terms of the site operator and the charging mechanism among a local government, the site operator, and local producers. This study analyzes their differences in site traffic, local producers' participation, promotion, and partnership. The results from the investigation of 72 shopping sites are the following. First, shopping sites of the 'direct operation' type and the 'outsourced operation' type show significantly higher participation of local producers. Second, the 'marketing agency' type has significantly higher number of promotional activities than the 'oursourced type' which has significantly higher number than the 'direct operation' type. Third, the number of partnerships in the 'marketing agency' type is the highest. The 'direct operation' type is the second and significantly higher than the 'outsourced type.' On the basis of the analysis results, this paper suggests an incubation ecosystem model as a better way of involvement by local governments in online shopping sites.

DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.045
Governments around the world invest in research and development (R&D) for different purposes : national economy, defence, environment, health, etc. as a means of national survival beyond the means of national competitiveness. These are usually programs with high social impact but low short-term economic impact or large scientific programs that are too expensive and risky for private sector investment alone. The Republic of Korea has also shown a very successful model of economic progress and social development through government R&D programs. However, there have been many corruption scandals behind it while selecting awardees for government R&D programs in Korea. So, the Republic of Korea focused on reforming appraisal system for government R&D and began preparation for "Clean Appraisal System" last year. In this study, first we analyzed the related appraisal tasks through the review of laws and administrative rules and typed appraisal tasks according to the flow of the actors and time. Thus securing the information infrastructure and finally we drew the conceptual model of the system according to an open appraisal tasks by introducing an element of the OECD on open government typed appraisal tasks.

Lee, Joontaik ; Kim, Sanghoon ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 14, issue 4, 2015, Pages 81~104
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.081
Intentional information systems (IS) misuse is a serious problem in many organizations. This study aims at developing the theoretical framework of deterring IS misuse on the basis of Nagin's General Deterrence Theory (GDT) which is very famous in the area of socio-criminology. Applying GDT to the IS misuse situation could be reasoned that the perceived certainty and the perceived severity of sanctions associated with committing IS misuse have positive impact on deterring the deviant behaviors. Also, these two constructs (certainty of sanctions and severity of sanctions) could be inferred to be influenced by the four types of IS security countermeasures (security policies, security awareness program, monitoring practices and preventive security software) derived through critically reviewing IS security-relevant literature. The proposed research model and ten hypotheses were empirically analysed using structural equation modelling with the data collected by conducting a questionnaire survey of staff members in business organizations in Korea. As a result, it was found that five ones of ten hypotheses were supported. It is thought that this study makes theoretical contribution to expanding research area of IS security and also has strong implications for IS security management practices within organizations.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 14, issue 4, 2015, Pages 105~120
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.105
Enterprise should determine the adoption and utilization of information systems would be a great help to increase management performance. So, it maintains continually the budget and the investment for informatization. However, there is a limit to clarify whether the investment in informatization is contributed to create business opportunities through corporate competitiveness certainty or not. We tend to recognize the information system as a simple means to support common business rather than being used to achieve the company's business performance and to remain competitive. It is not an easy problem for the quantitative evaluation and analysis on the effect of intangible, such as management performance measurement by introducing computerization project. Informatization level evaluation model for the harsh business environment, specifically the Small and Medium Enterprise is lacking. In this paper, we proposed the audit evaluation model of an Small and Medium Enterprise informatization level based on system quality, information quality, user satisfaction, and IT business contribution. The proposed audit evaluation model was evaluated in the information system users, and verified the suitability throughout the survey of the audit professionals.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 14, issue 4, 2015, Pages 121~135
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.121
Ensemble classification is to utilize multiple classifiers instead of using a single classifier. Recently ensemble classifiers have attracted much attention in data mining community. Ensemble learning techniques has been proved to be very useful for improving the prediction accuracy. Bagging, boosting and random subspace are the most popular ensemble methods. In random subspace, each base classifier is trained on a randomly chosen feature subspace of the original feature space. The outputs of different base classifiers are aggregated together usually by a simple majority vote. In this study, we applied the random subspace method to the bankruptcy problem. Moreover, we proposed a method for optimizing the random subspace ensemble. The genetic algorithm was used to optimize classifier subset of random subspace ensemble for bankruptcy prediction. This paper applied the proposed genetic algorithm based random subspace ensemble model to the bankruptcy prediction problem using a real data set and compared it with other models. Experimental results showed the proposed model outperformed the other models.

Customer reviews are one of the important sources for purchase decision makings in online stores. Online stores have tried to provide useful reviews in product pages to customers. To assess the usefulness of customer reviews before other users have voted enough on the reviews, diverse aspects of reviews were utilized in prevous studies. Style and semantic information were utilized in many studies. This study aims to test diverse alogrithms and datasets for identifying a proper classification method and threshold to classify useful reviews. In particular, most researches utilized ratio type helpfulness index as Amazon.com used. However, there is another type of usefulness index utilized in TripAdviser.com or Yelp.com, count type helpfulness index. There was no proper threshold to classify useful reviews yet for count type helpfulness index. This study used reivews and their usefulness votes on restaurnats from Yelp.com to devise diverse datasets and applied text mining approaches to classify useful reviews. Random Forest, SVM, and GLMNET showed the greater values of accuracy than other approaches.

Moon, Jeongwoong ; Chang, Namsik ; Cho, Wooje ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 14, issue 4, 2015, Pages 185~197
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.185
As the uncertainty of demand in B2B electronics market has increased, firms need a strong method to estimate the market demand. An accurate prediction on the market demand is crucial for a firm not to overproduce or underproduce its goods, which would influence the performance of the firm. However, it is complicated to estimate the demand in a B2B market, particularly for the private sector, because firms are very diverse in terms of size, industry, and types of business. This study proposes both qualitative and quantitative demand forecasting approaches for B2B PC products. Four different measures for predicting PC products in B2B market with consideration of the different PC uses-personal work, common work, promotion, and welfare-are developed as the qualitative model's input variables. These measures are verified by survey data collected from experts in 139 firms, and can be applied when individual firms estimate the demand of PC goods in a B2B market. As the quantitative approach, the multiple regression model is proposed and it includes variables of region, type of industry, and size of the firm. The regression model can be applied when the aggregated demand for overall domestic PC market needs to be estimated.

Application software is delivered to customers as a form of service at cloud environment. A cloud service provider is a marketplace between supply side (application providers) and demand side (customers). Cloud service providers have to validate applications to be included in their service portfolio. Not only performance, security, networking, compliances should be checked but also business contract, authentication should be provided. Organization customers are more sensitive to these validation criteria and process. We study the Internet2 NET+, which is a successful cloud marketplace of applications for research and education organizations. This case study shows us three things : (i) a cloud marketplace's application management process : selection, validation, transition to service, customization of applications (ii) what a cloud marketplace has for its infrastructure like authentication, security, access control etc. (iii) what a cloud marketplace has as its governance structure. This case study will provide informative analysis of Internet2 NET, a profit-making vertical and buyer's marketplace (education industry). And we will get some strategic implications for planning and implementing cloud marketplaces.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 14, issue 4, 2015, Pages 257~267
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.257
We propose a vehicle-mounted, location-aware mobile digital signage system that can be used for public transportation through mobile communication. This paper proposes the installations of the LED display panels at the backside of the bus., which display traffic information to cars behind the bus. Information to be displayed would include, but is not limited to, road information, public commercials and private commercials. We propose the system architecture and further implement the prototype of mobile digital signage system for demonstration. The system is based on the Client-Server system. Each bus has a client terminal which detects the current location by a GPS receiver and sends its location information to the server using mobile communication function. The terminal device receives advertisements and traffic information from the server and displays it to the large LCD or LED panel installed at the inside and outside of the bus. We use the Android smartphone as a client system, which inherently equipped with GPS and mobile communication function. GPS detects the location of bus and reports its geo-location data to the traffic information center server via a wireless communication network. On the server side, we developed a specially designed control server, where it communicates with the other traffic information center and updates and manages the databases contents being displayed by each position. The server contains location dependent variable information and returns selected information back to the vehicle in real time. Spatial database is used to process location based data. Server system periodically receives the real time traffic information from the road information center database. And it process the information by bus location and bus line number. In this paper, we propose a mobile digital signage service and explain the system implementation of this service.

Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 14, issue 4, 2015, Pages 269~281
DOI : 10.9716/KITS.2015.14.4.269
The objective of this study is offering new on line business model for automotive market. In order for the research aim, we conduct direct in-depth interviews with CEO, including analysis of business patterns on eight automotive firms in Gwangju city. As a result, we suggest new business model so called, Online to offline (o2o) that combines advantages in both off-line and on-line business. Techniques that o2o automotive companies may employ include in-store pick up of items purchased online, allowing customers. Purchasing the automotive is not only a car but also services including insurance, warrant services. o2o business model suggested shows the operating of the goods and service sale. When it comes to characteristics of automotive conventional sale patterns, utilization of the online-to-offline commerce has not eliminated the advantages that e-commerce companies have. That model can enhance the new values for customers as well as new market creation. Also, this new business model (o2o) can contribute the emerging industry business model installed based in particular, emergence of Iot (Internet of thing) in terms of sharing knowledge and information between enterprise and customers.
