A Study on the Critical Failure Factors against B2B e-Marketplace Performance
Kwon, Suhn-Beom ; Byun, Seong-Soo ; Bae, Jun-Bum ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 1~13
Many buying and selling companies have participated in B2B electronic commerce in order to boost sales and cut down purchase prices respectively. There are some studies on buying and selling companies performances of using B2B e-marketplaces which provide electronic B2B transaction services such as finding transaction partners, providing on-line transaction process like auctioneering, etc. This study investigates the critical failure factors against B2B e-marketplace in other words B2B market-maker or B2B intermediary. We proposed 4 hypotheses asserting that 4 critical failure factors make reverse effects on B2B intermediary performances. We adopt the Balanced Score Card (BSC) framework to evaluate B2B intermediary performance. Data were collected from 46 respondents of B2B intermediaries in Korea. Analyses showed that traditional off-line B2B practices like refunding to buyer or transactions without legal documents and low quality of product information and catalog are critical failure factors against B2B intermediary performance.

According as the requirement of custom for the enterprise or government organization gets to be various, the enterprise or government organization has been quickly changing to cope with the situation. Recently, by considering a domestic situation which is intending the e-government, the service for the people to apply the information technology of a local autonomous entity is very much need. However, it is actual circumstances that share and application of information is not smoothly realized in the state that government organization introduces the relevant system. To solve this problem, this paper performs a study what the level of interoperability has relation to organizational Performance using interoperability with information system.
A Study on the Compensation for the Change of Work in SI Project of SW Development
Lim, Gyoo-Gun ; Kim, Joong-Han ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 31~40
Generally SW industry is considered as a high value-added business area. However, many SI companies in Korea have been loosing profits in public business sector. One of the reasons of this problem is because the compensation for the change of work which occurs frequently during a project has been rarely happened. This might be because many contracts have been made as more officer-oriented one. So far, there has not been much study on this topic. So in this paper, we are going to define the change of works in SI projects, analyze the characteristics, and classify them into some categories. After analyzing the current status and related laws concerning this problem, we will suggest a way to solve this problem and show the future research topics.

An Exploratory Study on the Relative Importances of the Critical Success Factors in an ERP Project
Han, Sang-Cheol ; Lee, Gil-Hyung ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 57~69
The ERP system which has been adopted as a tool for integration of information systems and for innovation of business process. And it is regarded to be able to maximize the productivity of business process and achieve process innovation based on the best practice incorporated in the ERP. To achieve process innovation through ERP, strong sponsorship from top management and building consensus through the entire organization is required to be backed UP. There are many cases of the failure of Process Innovation due to reluctance of corporate members to change. In the result of the case study, it seems to be difficult to build the consensus of the related groups to ERP project. There are still argues after project, on whether the project was success or not. Through the AHP analysis for the success factors, it is explored that the reason is that several groups of the company had different expectation for the project. And to achieve the aimed process Innovation, the project members in the related departments should build the consensus of expectation on the project.
The Impact of the Organizational Characteristics, IS Basis, IS Planning Capability and IS Quality on the CRM Performance
Lee, Seung-Myoung ; Kim, Eun-Hong ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 71~105
The purpose of this study was to test various variables that affect CRM performance in order to evaluate CRM performance. The results of the proposed research hypotheses are as follows; First, the IS based factors perform more important roles on system and information quality compared to organizational factors. Second, the variables of IS and planning capability playa role as a parameter. Third, among organizational factors, non-structural factors such as degrees of acceptance of business transition, support of CEO, and customer-orientation perform more important roles on CRM. Fourth, IS based factors have bigger Impact on information quality than system quality. Fifth, it was proven that IS quality, proposed as a parameter and as a dependant variable, and CRM have significant relations.
A Study on Establishment of FMC Environment for Real Time Enterprise
Choi, Minn-Seok ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 107~115
As Real Time Enterprise (RTE) has been spotlighted since the year of 2002, some advanced companies have been implementing the paradigm of RTE to its legacy systems and the number of the companies has been growing. However, the network infrastructures mainly based on fixed telecommunications network make the results of the RTE implementations fall short of their expectations. In this paper, we propose to construct the fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) environment to achieve RTE. The convergence infrastructure will improve user accessibility to all kinds of data and will encourage the users to interact with the systems.
Design and Implementation of Integration Application Framework Supporting Dynamic Configuration
Lee, Yong-Hwan ; Min, Du-Gki ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 117~128
When we conduct development of a large-size SI project, it is highly necessary to utilize an appropriate application framework which helps to build a qualified software with high productivity in a short period of time. In this paper, we propose the architecture of a dynamically reconfigurable CBD application integration framework that has been used for developing large-scale e-business applications to achieve high development productivity and maintainability. This Integration framework can easily extend its functionalities, and dynamically change its configuration during run time according to the business category, such as applying interaction patterns among main components in software architecture, rules, policies, and environmental parameters. Dynamic reconfiguration has the feature to make applications be easily customized for changeable requirements. Through our application integration framework, huge sizes of contents can be managed according to the business category as well, by keeping configuration informations and huge volumes of source codes. In order to evaluate out application integration framework in terms of performance criteria, we present experimental results of throughputs from the framework by yielding dynamic configuration without any performance degradation.
Simulation-Based Operational Risk Assessment
Hwang, Myung-Soo ; Lee, Young-Jai ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 129~139
This paper proposes a framework of Operational Risk-based Business Continuity System(ORBCS), and develops protection system for operational risk through operational risk assessment and loss distribution approach based on risk management guideline announced in the basel II. In order to find out financial operational risk, business processes of domestic bank are assorted by seven event factors and eight business activities so that we can construct the system. After we find out KRI(Key Risk Indicator) index, tasks and risks, we calculated risk possibility and expected cost by analyzing quantitative data, questionnaire and qualitative approach for AHP model from the past events. Furthermore, we can assume unexpected cost loss by using loss distribution approach presented in the basel II. Each bank can also assume expected loss distributions of operational risk by seven event factors and eight business activities. In this research, we choose loss distribution approach so that we can calculate operational risk. In order to explain number of case happened, we choose poisson distribution, log-normal distribution for loss cost, and estimate model for Monte-Carlo simulation. Through this process which is measured by operational risk. of ABC bank, we find out that loss distribution approach explains closer unexpected cost directly compared than internal measurement approach, and makes less unexpected cost loss.
A Study on a Web-Based Student-Counseling System
Hong, Soon-Chang ; Han, Jae-Il ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 141~148
The importance of education is greatly emphasized in the IT era. However, teachers have to deal with teaching work as well as increasing non-educationalchores. One of those chores is student counseling. Nowadays, teachers have considerable difficulty in consulting students because they cannot visit their home and don't have enough information on students. Furthermore, students are not willing to participate in school counseling since they think school counseling is not of much help and is just time-consuming. Most of the current school counseling is focused on matters related to entrance into a school of higher grade such as choice of college. But, students need counseling on matters regarding their ordinary life. This paper suggests a web-based student-counseling system that may solve this problem. The paper identifies core requirements for the web-based student-counseling system, discusses its design and implementation and shows it is more effective than the current ordinary school counseling by experimenting on a group of students with this system.

Jeong, Yoon-Seok ; An, Joon-M. ;
Journal of the Korea society of IT services, volume 4, issue 1, 2005, Pages 149~160
Information system outsourcing induces firms to concentrate on the core competence and to improve business value by utilizing specialized information systems outsourcing vendors. However, for those strategic effects, the outsourced information systems should guarantee a certain service level. Now companies are considering to adopt SLA(Service Level Agreement) as a method to check the service level of the outsourced information systems in quantitative terms. On the contrary, customer satisfaction survey supports qualitative analysis, and helps companies to understand the qualitative effects on information system more systematically. Recently, the growing use of the internet makes customer satisfaction survey to be carried out on the web. For that reason, lots of researches related to web survey have been performed. But these researches are just focused on finding out only items to be measured and the effect of web survey. In this paper, based on the service quality research model for information system outsourcing, we formalize and propose a web survey process, a system architecture, and a functional structure for information system outsourcing customer satisfaction survey. Additionally, we provide the implementation results for the web survey systems.
