A Study on the Indicator of Knowledge Activities in Public Institution

An objective and valid knowledge activity indicator (KAI) is essential for encouraging knowledge activity in public institution. However, knowledge activity of public institution is inherently different from one of private corporation and, therefore, new method to find aggregated knowledge mileage considering public organizational culture and structure is to be developed. Therefore, this paper shows how to develop KAI of public institution based on three steps. First, knowledge activities were categorized as knowledge creation, knowledge sharing, and knowledge value increasing. Several knowledge indicators and hierarchical knowledge structure were developed for each knowledge categories. Second, personal knowledge mileage was calculated using AHP method considering whole organization's opinion. Finally, these approaches to find KAI were applied to "P" public institution as case studies. The results shows that KAI developed in this paper was very effective in grouping knowledge workers based on knowledge activities.
A Study on the Development of Web-based Education Service for the Blind

The rapid development of information and communication technologies has resulted in rapid increase in the qualitative and quantitative information that can be accessed by information technology. Furthermore an enormous amount of information is provided in various formats. However, there are a group of people who are not able to even approach to targeted information due to physical or environmental problems. Visually handicapped users constitute a class of these users. In this paper, a method of developing user interface for web-based education service is described for the visually handicapped users to access information more efficiently. First, this paper analyzed the problems of visually handicapped users to access information targeting representative domestic sites that supply education services. And based on the results of the above analyses, Nest, this paper explains the web-based education service interface implementation method according to types of the content to be delivered. Lastly, the validity of this method is provided by testing a web page based on the implementation method according to the types of content.
A Study on the Effect of Banker's Business Satisfaction Through the BCP Process

With the announcement of Basel II Accord in 2004, worldwidebanks have been strengthening their risk management system. Under the circumstances, S became the first bank among other financial institutions in Korea to establish bank-wide BCP process that goes beyond the past Disaster Recovery Planning or DRP. Considering that the purpose of the process is to guarantee stability of work under the real disastrous situation, other banks are anticipated to introduce the process sooner or later to cope with any possible disaster and adhere Basel II Accord. The purpose of this thesis is to see how much impact does the work process or its improvement would have on employees' satisfaction level by considering Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) via Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and influence of BCP process implementation on parties involved.
Analysis of the Causal Relationships Among the Factors that Influence the Use of Mobile Phone Services

A lot of researchers have been interested in the factors influencing the use of mobile phone services. Most of the previous studies, however, verified only the research models developed by the authors. They did not consider which model agrees better with the real situation. This study presents six alternative models based on various previous studies, and compares the data fitness of the models. A Web survey of mobile phone users collected 2,217 cases. Statistical analyses, using SEM (Structural Equation Modeling), show that the fitness of the simplest alternative model is better than that of any other model. The simplest model has no causal relationship among exogenous factors, and proposes that all of exogenous factors have direct impacts on the customer satisfaction. In addition, the analyses say that corporate and brand image and additional service are more important than the other exogenous factors such as communication quality.
A Case Study on Efficiency Evaluation of DMUs Performances for Digital Pioneer Project by Data Envelopment Analysis Model

Recently, the affiliates of the Ministry of Information and Communication have been conducting a performance evaluation study on IT policy projects, based on the performance evaluation model of the U.S. Office of Management and Budgets, with regard to investment in computerization. The performance evaluation model for the policy project could provide the objective information required for the planning, development, and operation of the policy project. However, the performance of the most policy project is likely to be evaluated using the subjective evaluation criteria of evaluators. Therefore, this case study evaluates the relative efficiency using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) in order to improve the performance evaluation method of the digital pioneer' project implemented by the Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency. The improvement value of inefficient Decision Making Units (DMUs) was measured by a static efficiency analysis. The measured value will suggest a objective viewpoint of the performance between DMUs to evaluators. In doing so, it will show an appropriate direction for the policy project to be evaluated successfully.
Age Differences in Perceptions and Relationships Among Determinants of Loyalty in Online Games

The purpose of this research is to identify the determinants of loyalty in online games. This study developed a research model to analyze the factors explaining the loyalty level from gamers, employing social identification, flow, and positive anticipated emotion as major research variables, and collected 1308 survey responses from gamers. Within the context of arguing that the exploration of age range issues with respect to online games is important, this research also examines the age differences in path coefficients. To this end, the structural model was tested with the data from entire data sample (i.e., the age of 10s, 20s, and 30s pooled together) and each of the subsamples (i.e., teens taken separately, twenties taken separately, and thirties taken separately). Properties of the causal paths, including standardized path coefficients, the significance of difference, in the hypothesized model, are also presented, so that we can investigate the relative influences of different dominants, demonstrating how teens, twenties, and thirties differ in their decision-making processes regarding the flow, social identification and loyalty from online games.
Theoretical Model of Performance Evaluation for Informatization Programs: Focusing on the Public Sector

This study aims to construct the integrative performance evaluation model of informatization programs. In order to achieve the purpose of research, first of all, the three major theoretical paradigms (technical/functional, economic/financial, and interpretive/alternative paradigms) are comparatively analyzed concerning their philosophical and methodological perspectives. Also, a number of important studies and research model in the area of IS (Information Systems) evaluation are critically reviewed. And then actual problems and limitations on the process of implementing IS performance evaluation are sought through investigating domestic and foreign practices. Based upon theoretical and practical review of informatization evaluation and logical reasoning, the components of ideal performance evaluation scheme for informatization program are derived, and the integrative performance evaluation model which can comprehensively represent the relationship among the components is conceptually proposed. For researchers, this study provides the theoretical basis for reasonably deriving the performance variables of informatization programs and empirically validating the performance of managing informatization programs. And in real world, the results of this study are very likely to contribute to presenting the practical guideline for desirably implementing performance evaluation of informatization programs.
A Study on Movement Pattern Analysis Through Data Visualization of Moving Objects

Due to the development of information technologies and new businesses related to moving objects, the need for the storage and analysis of moving object data is increasing rapidly. Moving object data have a spatiotemporal nature which is different from typical business data. Therefore, different methods of data storage and analysis are required. This paper proposes a multidimensional data model and data visualization to analyze moving object data efficiently and effectively. We expect that decision makers can understand the movement pattern of moving objects more intuitively through the proposed implementation.
A Dynamic Routing Protocol for Energy Effectiveness in Wireless Sensor Networks

Sensor node's mobility brings new challenges to data dissemination in large sensor networks. Frequent location updates of sensor nodes can lead to both excessive drain of sensor's limited battery supply and increased collisions in wireless transmissions. Conventional studies for routing protocols in wireless sensor networks are not enough to cover energy consumption and migration of sensor nodes. This study proposes a dynamic routing protocol based on the SPIN considering energy consumption and the migration, and also shows the effectiveness of the proposed routing protocol.
Algorithm for Efficient D-Class Computation

D-class computation requires multiplication of three Boolean matrices for each of all possible triples of
Boolean matrices and search for equivalent
Boolean matrices according to a specific equivalence relation. It is easy to see that even multiplying all
Boolean matrices with themselves shows exponential time complexity and D-Class computation was left an unsolved problem due to its computational complexity. The vector-based multiplication theory shows that the multiplication of three Boolean matrices for each of all possible triples of
Boolean matrices can be done much more efficiently. However, D-Class computation requires computation of equivalent classes in addition to the efficient multiplication. The paper discusses a theory and an algorithm for efficient D-class computation, and shows execution results of the algorithm.
