Lee, Soon-Ryoung ; Kim, Oh-Woo ; Lee, Jong-Ho ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 1~15
Nowadays, consumers' consciousness on me quality are very diversified and their pattern is changing from the price-priority to me quality-priority. So they prefer good-quality products without defects. Therefore quality is a core competence. To compete with me facts, it is very important to keep me the quality competence. To do so, one way is to introduce 100ppm quality innovation system. Many corporates introducing 100ppm improved defect rations(not only process defect ratios but also product defect ratios). In these respects, this study focuses on the comparison and measurement of performance by the analysis of quality system between 100ppm corporates and non-100ppm corporates. Second, this focuses on the finding out core competence reinforcement factors according to the introducing of 100ppm quality system to improve the performance. Third, this focuses on the persuading to introduce the 100ppm quality system to the non-100ppm corporates. Last, this focuses on the playing on the role of guidance to improve QM efficiency.

Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 16~28
Recently days, High Accelerated Life Test of electrical and electronic parts is increasing its importance. This study set the hypothesis to develop the method that was analysis and application of HALT for the automotive electrical and electronic parts, it used Arrhenius's Model and Eyring's Model, and ESS theory. Validity of application is proved by other test data. Especially, this study emphasis on utility of acceleration to temperature, humidity, voltage, mechanical stress and other stress. In this study set the pattem of practical application. Therefore, this study emphasis on the application of the HALT and the use of other parameter by acceleration reliability test data. The result of this study is as follows. 1) There is relationship between molar weight and material constant. 2) Characteristic of material is operating acceleration factor as well as parts failure factors. Of course, according to the characteristic of material, activation energy is often more important than molar weight. But it will be defined by more testing and improvements in practical application.

Kim, Jeong-Uk ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 29~46
Advent of the distributed computing has contributed to the rapid distribution of information technology throughout the organization. While powerful and user-friendly information technology are more available to end users, managing the distributed, heterogeneous IT environment has become a serious problem for corporate IT managers. Integrated Control Architecture (ICA) enables the monitoring and controlling of the dispersed information resources for effective enterprise-wide information resource management. This paper empirically examines the propositions that the level of information resource control is positively related to IS effectiveness measured in user satisfaction. Measures are developed and validated for the control of information resource object such as data, application, platform, and control of relationships among such objects. Results from a study of 130 organizations support that the organizations with high information resource control exhibit user satisfaction.
The empirical study on the effect of service recovery effort to service quality perception and customer satisfaction
Suh, Chang-Juck ; Kwon, Yeong-Hoon ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 47~66
In recent, keeping and developing relationships with current customers is a key service business goal, and service recovery efforts is to be the essence of service business strategy. But many researchers have neglected to focus on that issue. So this research is intended to explore service quality factors that include service recovery efforts and grip those difference among service operations systems. Service operations systems are divided into three categories. Our study results suggest that customer oriented firms need to develop a comprehensive service recovery system and must include service recovery as a service quality factor.
A Bayesian Burn-in Procedure Guaranteeing Outgoing Quality of a Product
Kwon, Young-Il ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 67~74
A Bayesian burn-in procedure is developed for imited failure populations in which defective items fail soon after they are put in operation and non-defective ones never fail during he technical life of the items. Sequential schemes guaranteeing pre-specified outgoing quality of a product are derived based on prior information on the quality of a product and accumulated failure information up to the decision point. A numerical example is also provided.

Kim, Hee-Tak ; Lee, Myung-Sik ; Kim, Jang-Ha ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 75~98
The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the customers' perceived service quality and response in the field of hotel industry. The subjects of survey for this empirical analyses are limited to the customers of deluxe hotels in Korea; data are collected from the 16 deluxe hotels amongst 27 of its kind in the Seoul, Pusan, Cheju and Kyongju area. SAS package is used for Simple Regression, Multiple Regression and the results are as follows: First, the perceived service quality shows significantly positive effect upon the customers' satisfaction; Second, the customers' perceived service quality shows significantly positive with respect to the customers' response; Third, the customers' satisfaction shows significantly positive regarding the customers' response, and the customers' satisfaction have greater influence upon the customers' response than the customers' perceived service quality; On the basis of the above empirical analyses, I propose the management implication as follows: First, the hotel management staffs should have a close relation with their customers through the customers' positive, and eventually be concemed about improving service quality and customers' satisfaction to maximize the enterprise's performance; Second, the hotel management staffs, to induce and build up the positive customers' response, should have interest in serving high-quality products and service and enforcing the proper price policy.
An introductory research of application of Markov process to literary study
Park, Chae-Heung ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 99~105
This paper attempts to apply Markove chain theory to literary works. the objective of this paper is to show the trend of authors and his works by way of Markovian Models. In this introductory research, it is useful to make simple criteria as virtue and evil, good and bad, justice and injustice, positive and negative, man and woman, etc. Markovian transition matrixes which are derived by M.L.E. and A.U.E are almost same. In case of Hamlet, we are able to know the author of Hamlet or his works are inconsistent and fickle.

A Comparative Study on the Characteristics of Malcolm baldrige National quality Award and Japanese Quality Award
Yoo, Han-Joo ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 140~150
MBNQA(Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award) was established in 1987 in order to promote the spread of TQM in U.S. Likewise, JQA(Japanese Quality Award) was set up in 1995 in order to upgrade the level of TQM activities in Japan. MBNQA and JQA are quite the same in their basic concept, values, and the process of the examination, but they differ in the contents of the criteria. The objective of this study is to identify the differences between MBNQA and JQA in terms of strategy planning category. Therefore, in this paper, strategy planning category is analyzed, especially its theoretical validity is examined by literature review. The major differences are as follows: JQA emphasizes strongly the evaluation process than MBNQA by requiring the measuring of the level of strategic achievement. On the other hand, in MBNQA, strategic objectives must be estimated by decision analysis techniques, scenario tools, and other statistical methodologies.

This is advanced program of 100PPM Quality Renovation Movement which has been started in 1995, for single unit ppm. In this paper, through the review of 100PPM Movement's performance and problem solving procedure, we hope to find and discuss that how is an effective and compatible approach to realize the single-ppm quality in the small-and-medium size enterprises.
Optimum Mean Value and Lower Limit under a Quadratic Loss Function
Hong, Sung-Hoon ; Choi, Sung-Il ; Lim, Hoon ; Pan, Jae-Suk ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 194~203
This paper is concerned with an economic selection of both the process mean and the lower limit for a continuous production process with the quadratic loss function. It is assumed that the quality characteristic is normally distributed with a known variability. A profit model is developed which involves selling price, production cost, reprocessing cost and the cost which is incurred by imperfect quality. Methods of finding optimum values of the process mean and the lower limit are presented, and a numerical example is given.

Kim, Gye-Soo ;
Journal of the Korean Society for Quality Management, volume 28, issue 4, 2000, Pages 204~222
Supply Chain Management is a process-oriented concept, integrated approach to procuring, producing, and delivering products and services to customers. Supply Chain Management covers the management of material, information, and funds flows. A strategic supply chain management produces for value maker and the ultimate customer. One aim of this paper is to determine the effect of contract parameters on the quality of the end product of the supplier-producer chain. The supply chain management is viewed as a single entity rather fragmented. This research constructed model the relationship of supply chain management to quality management. The questionnaire were tested with survey of supplier's employee and the result were analyzed using SEM(Structural Equation Model). As a result, Quality performance positively depends on the communication, coordination, and process management between the supplier and the producer.
