A Suggestion on the Promotive Directions of Quality Circle Activity

The purpose of this research is to suggest the promotive directions of Quality Circle activity. Since 1975, variety of organizations in Korea have widely the implemented Quality Circle activities for their management systems. Today, Companies are facing the harsh realities of a competitive environment. This is no time for revolutionary change. Instead, Companies are instituting revolutionary change meant to have impact within a very short time frame. The Worker's Quality Circle activity is, essentially, a trouble shooting oriented voluntary small group within their working place to improve the surroundings creatively. The industries have enthusiastically used Quality Circle activities and were influenced from them. The Quality Circle activities can be regarded as a kind of Knowledge Management where new knowledge is created and knowledge is shared in the economy. However, the academics were less interested in this subject, as a result, there were no systematic guidances for Quality Circle activities. Also, the government was less interested in these activities, as a result, there were no systematic policy making for Quality Circle activities. Thus, in this research, the promotive directions for Quality Circle activities were suggested which were based on the results of survey Questionnaires presented to promoters of the domestic companies. As a results of this research, to maximize the effect of TQM(Total Quality Management) in the nationwide, Quality Circle activity as a bottom-up management should be more expanded and revitalized.
A Reliability Model of Electronic Ballasts for Fluorescent Lamp

A study to build a reliability model of electronic ballasts for the fluorescent lamp has been performed in this study. We selected the widely being used specification, MIL-HDBK-217 for the study. We briefly reviewed the basic concepts of the electronic ballast with the selected reliability specification. We then developed a reliability model for the ballast using MIL-HDBK-217 and predicted the reliability. We further provided some guides which should be considered in future model development.
Economic Design of VSI

Today, the statistical process control (SPC) in manufacture environment is an important role at the process by the productivity improvement of the manufacturing systems. The control chart in this statistical method is widely used as an important statistical tool to find the assignable cause that provoke the change of the process parameters such as the mean of interest or standard deviation. But the traditional SPC don't grasp the change of process according to the points fallen the near control limits because of monitoring the variance of process such as the fixed sampling interval and the sample size and handle the cost of the aspect of these sample point. The control chart can be divided into the statistical and economic design. Generally, the economic design considers the cost that maintains the quality level of process. But it is necessary to consider the cost of the process improvement by the learning effects. This study does the economic design in the VSI
control chart and added the concept of loss function of Taguchi in the cost model. Also, we preyed that the VSI
control chart is better than the FSI
in terms of the economic aspects and proposed the standard of the process improvement using the VSI
A Study on the Shelf-life Prediction of the Single Base Propellants Using Accelerated Aging Test

The danger of self-ignition of single base propellants will increase with time. Therefore, a good prediction of the safe storage time is very important. In order to determine the remaining shelf-life of the propellants, the content of stabilizer is determined. The propellants stored under normal storage conditions about 10 to 18 years were investigated and accelerated aging test was carried out by storing propellant sample at higher temperature. Finally, we analyzed the results by various methods in order to show the best way to predict the realistic shelf-life. The safe storage life of the propellants will be 24 years, at least 15 years. In case of applying Arrhenius's law, using the reaction rate constant at 28
to predict the shelf-life by accelerated aging test is reasonable for a good prediction.

Measuring the Service Quality of Mobile Internet and Studying the Effects on Marketing Performance

As the mobile internet service market is rapidly growing, measuring and managing the service quality become a more critical issue to the service providers. Thus the purpose of this study is to compare SERVQUAL, SERVPERF, and non-difference score measures and to determine which one is superior to measure the service quality of the mobile internet service. This study also aims to analyze the structural relationship between the service quality, customer satisfaction and behavioral intentions (repurchase intention and word-of-mouth). For the purpose, survey data were gathered from the respondents who have used the mobile internet services and an empirical test was conducted. As the first research result, it was revealed that the non-difference score measure showed a much better model than other service measuring models (SERVQUAL, SERVPERF). And the second result was that two service quality factors (tangibles and empathy) among the mobile internet service quality factors significantly influenced the customer satisfaction and also the customer satisfaction had a significant effect on the repurchase and word-of-mouth.
The Model Development of 6 Sigma and Understanding of Process Quality in the Service Industry : Using the Structural Equation Modeling

Six Sigma advocates rigorous application of quality management tool. Using Six Sigma program provides a mechanism for service organization to achieve organization's goal and customer satisfaction. A model on Six sigma in service organization was developed and applied for the service organization. Questionnaire was developed, and data was collected and analyzed for this study. Conclusively, 6 sigma leadership is the important drivers to process management and customer relationship management. Process management and customer relationship management are significantly related to the job performance and customer satisfaction.
Reliability Analysis of Multistate Systems with Multistate Components

Most of systems used in real fields are considered as multistate systems with multistate components. As one of methods for performance evaluation of the system, reliability analysis has been popularly used. In this paper, we propose an improved reliability analysis method which is based on state space decomposition method of Aven (1985). In deriving upper bounds, our method uses sets of unspecified states whereas Aven (1985) excludes sets of unacceptance states. Also, closer lower bounds to an exact reliability are obtained by considering of importance of min-path vectors.
A Study on Optimal Subgroup Size in Estimating Variance of Small Autocorrelated Samples

In statistical process control, it is assumed that the process data are independent. However, most of chemical processes such as semi-conduct processes do not satisfy the assumption because of presence of autocorrelation between process data. It causes abnormal out of control signal in the process control and misleading estimation in process capability. In this study, we adopted Shore's method to solve the problem and propose an optimal subgroup size to estimate the variance correctly for AR(1) processes. Especially, we focus on finding an actual subgroup size for small samples based on simulation study.
