A Study on the Model Improvement of Korean Industrial Standards-Quality Excellence Index(KS-QEI)

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to suggest the modified `Korean Standard-Quality Excellence Index` model and analyze the improvement effect with survey data by comparing the properness between current and suggested model result. Methods: The collected data through the survey were analyzed using paired t-test and unbalanced ANOVA method for testing the consistency of two customer satisfaction evaluating categories and comparing the current model to suggested model for confirming the improvement of performance. Results: The statistical analysis result shows that adjusted model using prior information improves the consistency between two customer satisfaction in case of short life-cycle product. Also long life-cycle product case, the result shows difference gap decreasing with same direction. Conclusion: Considering statistical model for QEI reflecting the characteristic of product group such as life cycle seems to be meaningful. Since index may be compared yearly base for checking the trend, careful approaching without big change should be considered for application.
A Study on the Correlation between Forged Brand Quality and Purchase Intentions based on Types of Preference of Luxury Brands

Purpose: As there are more cases of forged brands, change of awareness is urgently required at the governmental, corporate and consumer levels. Therefore, this study aims to positively analyze the correlation between forged brand quality and purchase intentions perceived by consumers based on types of preference of luxury brands. Methods: In order to achieve the above purpose, this study derived a model of causal relationships among the forged brand quality, preference of typified luxury brands, and purchase intentions. SPSS 20.0 was applied for data processing. Frequency analysis ad descriptive statistical analysis were conducted for basic data and measurement tools were verified through feasibility and reliability analyses. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to verify the hypotheses. Results: Based on the results, only utilitarian quality positively (+) affected non-intrinsic preference while its impact on intrinsic preference was negative (-). On the other hand, hedonic quality was significantly positive (+) but the impact was not significant. Both utilitarian and hedonic qualities had significantly positive (+) impacts on the intentions to purchase forged brands with the impact of hedonic quality relatively higher. Conclusion: These results clarified that the overall consumption of Korean consumers had not entered its maturity, yet. Also, Korean consumers regard forged brands as alternatives to luxury brands mostly because of hedonic quality. As hedonic quality is added, Korean consumers` purchase intentions became higher. Based on these results, this study suggested the measures to be taken for the country to develop into an advanced country in the luxury market which is becoming more global and overcome the barrier of its old trend in imitation at the four levels of manufacturers, distributors, government, and consumers.

A Study on Operation Planning of Childcare Centers to Improve the Quality of Childcare Service

Purpose: This study analyzes the optimal operation scheme of childcare centers in Korea to maximize the quality of childcare service by determining the number of children and number of teachers. Methods: This study employs a mathematical programming methodology called `nonlinear integer programming (NLIP)` to solve the optimization problems and compare the quality of childcare service of optimal solutions with those of present operation scheme. Results: It is very successful in obtaining the optimal solutions for alternative capacities and they guarantee the substantial improvement in the quality of childcare service. Conclusion: Though more variables should be adapted for defining the quality of childcare service robustly, it is possible to conclude that childcare centers should modify their operation scheme to improve the quality of childcare service.
An Empirical Study on the Influence Factors of the Mobile Cloud Storage Service Satisfaction

Purpose: Nowadays, Mobile Cloud Storage services are used widely. For sustainable use of this service, we need to determine what factors affect satisfaction. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence satisfaction. Methods: To analyze factors that influence satisfaction, this study sets the factors into three dimensions such as service quality, perceived risk, and individual characteristics and analyze the causal relationship between influence factors and satisfaction through Structural Equation Model. Results: The results of this study are as follows; among service quality, user interface and reliability influenced satisfaction, but adaptability did not have any influence. Perceived risk of illegal access had a negative influence on satisfaction, while perceived risk of privacy leakage did not have significant influence on satisfaction in perceived risk. At last, self-efficacy had a significant influence on satisfaction. Conclusion: We identified the influence factors that influence satisfaction. Our findings will be necessary for Mobile Cloud Storage service providers to strengthen their service.
A Study on Readiness Assessment for The Acquisition of High Quality Weapon System

Purpose: Technology readiness assessment(TRA) used as a standard readiness assessment tool in the acquisition program of weapon system has some limitations in the comprehensive understanding of the complex system. Therefore, this research is intended to suggest a holistic maturity assessment method for the acquisition of high quality weapon system. Methods: Technology readiness level(TRL), manufacturing readiness level(MRL), integration readiness level(IRL) and system readiness level(SRL) developed to assess system maturities in the various aspects are compared and analyzed to draw an improvement avenue for the current readiness assessment method. Results: TRL, MRL, IRL and SRL have large differences in their maturity targets during the acquisition life cycle: technological performance, manufacturing capability, interface between components and total system, respectively. They complement one another`s shortcomings Conclusion: To achieve a successful acquisition of high quality weapon system, multi-dimensional readiness assessment is required. Therefore, comprehensive readiness assessment using TRL, MRL, IRL and SRL will contribute to the acquisition of high quality weapon system through the accurate maturity information of overall system.
A Study on the Improvement of the Image Quality for UAV Using Drift Compensation

Purpose: In this paper, the improvement of the image quality is investigated. The image quality is degraded by the drift phenomenon of EO/IR (Electro-Optical/Infrared) device on UAV. The drift phenomenon means that the image of EO/IR equipment on UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) moves to the unintended direction. This phenomenon should be improved for successful flight mission. Methods: To improve the drift phenomenon, the drift compensation method, the combination algorithm of FMC(Forward Motion Compensation) and AMC(Angular Motion Compensation) method, are introduced to calculate pitch and azimuth angle. Result values of pitch and azimuth angle are used for the improvement of image quality in EO/IR control logic. Results: The image quality is quantitatively improved more than 15 times through field test data of flight. Conclusion: Using the drift compensation technique, the image quality for EO/IR equipment is improved over 15 times than existing methods. This means the user of UAV with EO/IR device can perform a successful mission by keeping the line of sight for the target accurately.
Optimization of Redundancy Allocation in Multi Level System under Target Availability

Purpose: System availability and life cycle cost are often used to evaluate the system performance and is influenced by the operation and maintenance characteristic. In this paper, we propose the method to improve life cycle cost and satisfy the target availability through redundancy allocation. Methods: We consider the redundancy is available at all items in multi level system. Thus, we assume that sub-assembly, module, components can be duplicated. Simulation and genetic algorithm are employed to optimize redundancy allocation. Results: Target availability is higher, the life cycle cost is increased. In addition, the items for redundancy are selected at higher level in multi level system if target availability is higher. Conclusion: We could know that target availability affects the duplication number of items and the selection of redundancy items. For further study, we will consider new optimization algorithms to compare with the proposed GA algorithm and improve optimization performance.
A Study on Quality Management System Specification and Airworthiness Certification Application in Defense Aerospace Industry

Purpose: A Study on the application of quality management system specification to production validation and audit in military airworthiness certification. Methods: Aircraft quality management system specification for quality assurance and production validation and audit requirements were examined to verify. Also, the system for domestic and foreign production certification were investigated. Results: Production validation and audit criteria for military aircraft by applying methods suggested Aircraft Certifications Systems Evaluation Program(ACSEP). ACSEP evaluation of the items, some items were complementary and not applied. Conclusion: As a way to ensure the safety of aircraft, confirm the correction of Production validation & audit criteria and rulemaking is necessary and how to manage for Critical Safety Item(CSI) is a need to improve.
A Study on Qualification Procedures of Flight Control Software on Military Aircraft

Purpose: This study investigates software qualification procedures based on the FA-50 flight control software to satisfy high reliability and flight safety. Methods: We studied software qualification categories, standard/specification and developed country case. We proposed procedure to satisfy not only flight safety but also international standard. Results: The proposed software qualification procedure satisfied flight safety and airworthiness based on the testing result of the FA-50 flight control software. Conclusion: This paper showed an appropriate qualification procedures of the flight control software in domestic circumstance through the FA-50 flight control software qualification.
Suggestion of Using Defense Quality Score based on Taguchi Loss Function in Korea Defense Area

Purpose: Recently, many quality issues are aroused in military forces, such as failures in K-series weapons, combat boots defects and 40mm ammunition explosion accident. To address these problems, this paper suggests to use so called, Defense Quality Score, which is based on Taguchi loss function and developed in this research. Methods: Current defense specification states only the minimum requirement to produce the military supplies. Therefore, it is not easy to indue the continuous quality improvement of the supplies. This research suggests to use the defense quality score which measures the current status of defense supplies`quality characteristics. Results: We applied the defense quality score concept into the hot pepper sauce and long time stockpiled ammunition. We first categorize the quality characteristics into three categories, then assign the certain amount of score based on the importance of the characteristics. Lastly, we applied the modified Taguchi loss function to calculate the achieved score of the characteristics. The perfect score is 100 and the closer to the score, the better product it indicates. Conclusions: In this research, we developed the modified Taguchi loss function to apply into the korean defense supplies. The loss function is utilized to calculate the achieved level of satisfaction of the supplies based on the defense specifications. The application of defense quality score may help to stimulate the continuous quality improvement and encourage the good will quality competition among the military providers.
A Study on the Improvement of Efficiency for Quality Assurance Based on Quality-Bill of Material

Purpose: For effective quality assurance activities, BOM-based quality assurance method is presented. This study introduces various BOM conversions such as Q-BOM, T-BOM, and S-BOM based on M-BOM structure. Methods: Product quality control via Q-BOM manages inspection/audit information, overall supply-chain of product, part requirements, and inventory status. T-BOM manages part traceability, and S-BOM enables statistical control over key process and parts at various hierarchy levels. Results: Quality plan template was developed based on the study results of BOM system including Q-BOM, T-BOM, and S-BOM. Conclusion: Through BOM(Q-BOM, T-BOM, and S-BOM) study and development of quality plan template, more systematic and comprehensive quality management plan is achieved.
An Objective Method of Risk Assessment Based on Stochastic Modelling

Purpose: To provide a variety of stable military supplies, risk should be avoided or removed. This paper aims to provide an objective method of risk assesment for risk matrix to evaluate risk level. Methods: According to previous results of risk assesment through risk matrix, some parameters and probability density functions, which include characteristics of military supplies, are selected and Risk matrix is modelled based on that. Results: Results show that a proposed method can evaluate objectively risk level through the stochastic modelling and provide well-balanced risk assessments by categorizing into 3 levels such as high, middle and low level risk. Conclusion: A current risk assessment method includes substantial subjectivity of risk assessment and as a problem about military supplies comes up, we can not show any appropriate evidences for decision of risk assessment. We propose an objective scheme employing stochastic modelling with parameters and probability density functions.
A Study on the Evaluation Criteria Development for Selecting Intensive Management Items and Its Application Plan

Purpose: In this study, we propose the evaluation criteria and method for selecting intensive management items which, in order to improve the parts management.1) Methods: Parts management such as MIL-STD-3018, SD-19, SD-22 is used for devising the proposed evaluation criteria and method of selecting intensive management items. Especially, proposed evaluation criteria is customized by using AHP method. Results: We approved the importance of evaluation criteria for selecting intensive management items using AHP method. In production step, the parts problem record, the parts reliability, the supplier reliability, DMSM S1). In development step, the parts problem record, a counterfeit, the parts reliability, MTTF2). Conclusion: The evaluation criteria and method for selecting intensive management items which is applicable to the domestic weapon acquisition environment is proposed.
A Study on Process Control Modeling for Precision Guided Munitions Quality Control

Purpose: In this study, we propose the precision guided munitions verification methodology using the statistical analysis method has been proposed. and it can be applied to the precision guided munitions quality assurance work. Methods: This modeling is based on Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Statistical Process Control, Defense Quality Managerment System, Production Readiness Review, Manufacturing Readiness Assesment and so on. Results: The Process Control Modeling that has the following procedures ; searching the critical to quality, statistical analysis by process, verify process. Moreover, the effectiveness of the methodology is verified by applying to the precision guided munitions. Conclusion: To achieve a analysis methods of statistical process control and verify process for precision guided munitions.
