A Study on the Nonlinear Fuzzy PID Controller with Variable Parameters

This paper proposes a nonlinear fuzzy PID controller with variable parameters to improve slow rising time and divergence occurred by limited input spaces and a resultant limited control input during fuzzification in a fuzzy PID controller with fixed parameters, and describes the design principle and tracking performance of a proposed fuzzy PID controller. The parameters of a proposed controller are adjusted by the stability conditions derived from `small gain theorem` and satisfy the BIBO stability of overall control system.
Adaptive Repetitive Control for an Eccentricity Compensation of Optical Disk Drive

This paper presents an adaptive repetitive control scheme for optical disk drives to track a variable periodic reference signal. Periodic disturbances can be adequately attenuated using the concept of repetitive control, provided the period is known. Because optical disk drives support various speeds, they have the varying periodic disturbances. Based on repetitive control to change sampling frequency to follow the change of reference period, an adaptive repetitive control is proposed in order to deal with such disturbances. The proposed control consists of the repetitive controller and the frequency generator. The former uses a varying sampler operating at fixed multiple times of the disturbance frequency and the latter generates the changeable sampling frequency based on the disturbance frequency. The experimental results on the control of an optical disk drive demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed schemes and the improvement of random access time as well.

In this paper, we introduce smart home service based on ubiquitous environment and context awareness. We define the multi- context environment and the context collision caused by many user that the existing study of smart home is unconcerned with. Heal home is the space where various contexts are created and disappeared in. Smart home appliances are restricted within their service. We divide the home space by main uses of rooms and group smart service by sensory organ. And we introduce the multi-context manager consist with context interpreter, context collision manager and smart service manager.
A Study on Face Awareness with Free size using Multi-layer Neural Network

This paper suggest a way to detect a specific wanted figure in public places such as subway stations and banks by comparing color face images extracted from the real time CCTV with the face images of designated specific figures. Assuming that the characteristic of the surveillance camera allows the face information in screens to change arbitrarily and to contain information on numerous faces, the accurate detection of the face area was focused. To solve this problem, the normalization work using subsampling with
pixels on arbitrary face images, which is based on the Perceptron Neural Network model suggested by R. Rosenblatt, created the effect of recogning the whole face. The optimal linear filter and the histogram shaper technique were employed to minimize the outside interference such as lightings and light. The addition operation of the egg-shaped masks was added to the pre-treatment process to minimize unnecessary work. The images finished with the pre-treatment process were divided into three reception fields and the information on the specific location of eyes, nose, and mouths was determined through the neural network. Furthermore, the precision of results was improved by constructing the three single-set network system with different initial values in a row.
A New Face Tracking Method Using Block Difference Image and Kalman Filter in Moving Picture

When tracking a human face in the moving pictures with complex background under irregular lighting conditions, the detected face can be larger including background or smaller including only a part of the face. Even background can be detected as a face area. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a new face tracking method using a block difference image and a Kalman estimator. The block difference image allows us to detect even a small motion of a human and the face area is selected using the skin color inside the detected motion area. If the pixels with skin color inside the detected motion area, the boundary of the area is represented by a code sequence using the 8-neighbor window and the head area is detected analysing this code. The pixels in the head area is segmented by colors and the region most similar with the skin color is considered as a face area. The detected face area is represented by a rectangle including the area and its four vertices are used as the states of the Kalman estimator to trace the motion of the face area. It is proved by the experiments that the proposed method increases the accuracy of face detection and reduces the fare detection time significantly.
Virtual Dialog System Based on Multimedia Signal Processing for Smart Home Environments

This paper focuses on the use of the virtual dialog system whose aim is to build more convenient living environments. In order to realize this, the main emphasis of the paper lies on the description of the multimedia signal processing on the basis of the technologies such as speech recognition, speech synthesis, video, or sensor signal processing. For essential modules of the dialog system, we incorporated the real-time speech recognizer based on HM-Net(Hidden Markov Network) as well as speech synthesis into the overall system. In addition, we adopted the real-time motion detector based on the changes of brightness in pixels, as well as the touch sensor that was used to start system. In experimental evaluation, the results showed that the proposed system was relatively easy to use for controlling electric appliances while sitting in a sofa, even though the performance of the system was not better than the simulation results owing to the noisy environments.
A Study on Production Capacity Considering Fluctuation and Subordination

An accurate evaluation of a production capacity is an important role for production planning in manufacturing industry. The study has been partly done about the fluctuation in the conventional study of the production capacity, but the study of the subordination has been hardly done. Therefore, in this paper, we will devide by the production capacity which is formed into the production subjects to evaluate objectively the differences of between the actual capacity and the designed capacity in manufacturing industry and will suggest production capacity estimation model which is considered the fluctuation and the subordination, the decreasing causes of the production capacity. The weight of fluctuation which is used for the computation of the ratio of fluctuation and the ratio of subordination and the subordination are denoted to the interval number Thus, the production capacity is denoted to the interval numbers. The efficiency of the proposed model will show through the case study.
Fuzzy Output-Tracking Control for Uncertain Nonlinear Systems

A systematic output tracking control design technique for robust control of Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems with norm bounded uncertainties is developed. The uncertain T-S fuzzy system is first represented as a set of uncertain local linear systems. The tracking problem is then converted into the stabilization problem for a set of uncertain local linear systems thereby leading to a more feasible controller design procedure. A sufficient condition for robust asymptotic output tracking is derived in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities. A stability condition on the traversing time instances is also established. The output tracking control simulation for a flexible-joint robot-arm model is demonstrated, to convincingly show the effectiveness of the proposed system modeling and controller design.
Development of Emotion Recongition System Using Facial Image

Although the technology for emotion recognition is important one which was demanded in various fields, it still remains as the unsolved problems. Especially, there is growing demand for emotion recognition technology based on racial image. The facial image based emotion recognition system is complex system comprised of various technologies. Therefore, various techniques such that facial image analysis, feature vector extraction, pattern recognition technique, and etc, are needed in order to develop this system. In this paper, we propose new emotion recognition system based un previously studied facial image analysis technique. The proposed system recognizes the emotion by using the fuzzy classifier. The facial image database is built up and the performance of the proposed system is verified by using built database.
Emotion Recognition of Korean and Japanese using Facial Images

In this paper, we propose an emotion recognition using facial Images to effectively design human interface. Facial database consists of six basic human emotions including happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear and dislike which have been known as common emotions regardless of nation and culture. Emotion recognition for the facial images is performed after applying the discrete wavelet. Here, the feature vectors are extracted from the PCA and LDA. Experimental results show that human emotions such as happiness, sadness, and anger has better performance than surprise, fear and dislike. Expecially, Japanese shows lower performance for the dislike emotion. Generally, the recognition rates for Korean have higher values than Japanese cases.
Online Evolving TSK fuzzy identification

This paper presents online identification algorithm for TSK fuzzy model. The proposed algorithm identify structure of premise part by using distance, and obtain the parameters of the piecewise linear function consisting consequent part by using recursive least square. Only input space was considered in Most researches on structure identification, but input and output space is considered in the proposed algorithm. By doing so, outliers are excluded in clustering effectively. The existing other algorithm has disadvantage that it is sensitive to noise by using data itself as cluster centers. The proposed algorithm is non-sensitive to noise not by using data itself as cluster centers. Model can be obtained through one pass and it is not needed to memorize many data in the proposed algorithm.
The Design and Implementation of e-BCOS as Web based Component Repository

The current software development type is based on CBD (Component Based Development). However, it requires a new component model that can support rapid and accurate component information on the web due to the cost increase of building new components using CBD. The purposed of this paper is to promptly develop an application on the web which fulfills users` demand and to provide specific interface regarding the small scales of distributed component in business domains. The e-BCOS(e-Business Component System) is the agent system for the users to register distributed components and to search component information, which would increase reusability through the e-business component development of distributed components in business domains and help the users understand the information about the component. Moreover, XML is employed for specification which allows smooth specification sharing and delivery to satisfy users` variable demands.
Enhanced Processor-Architecture for the Faster Processing of Genetic Algorithm

Generally, genetic algorithm (GA) has too much time and space complexity when it is running in the typical processor. Therefore, we are forced to use the high-performance and expensive processor by this reason. It also works as a barrier to implement real device, such a small mobile robot, which is required only simple rules. To solve this problem, this paper presents and proposes enhanced processor-architecture for the faster GA processing. A typical processor architecture can be enhanced and specialized by two approaches: one is a sorting network, the other is a residue number system (RNS). A sorting network can improve the time complexity of which needs to compare the populations` fitness. An RNS can reduce the magnitude of the largest bit that dictates the speed of arithmetic operation. Consequently, it can make the total logic size smaller and innovate arithmetic operation speed faster.
Tone Quality Improvement Algorithm using Intelligent Estimation of Noise Pattern

In this paper, we propose an algorithm that improves a tone quality of a noisy audio signal in order to enhance a performance of perceptual filter using intelligent estimation of noise pattern from a band degraded by additive noise. The proposed method doesn`t use the estimated noise which is obtained from silent range. Instead new estimated noise according to the power of signal and effect of noise variation is considered for each frame. So the noisy audio signal is enhanced by the method which controls a estimation of noise Pattern effectively in a noise corruption band. To show the performance of the proposed algorithm, various input signals which had a different signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) such as
were used to test the proposed algorithm. we carry out SSNR and NMR of objective measurement and MOS test of subjective measurement. An approximate improvement of
in SSNR and
in NMR is achieved with the input signals, respectively. And we confirm the enhancement of tone quality in terms of mean opinion score(MOS) test which is result of subjective measurement.
Evolutionally optimized Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks Based on Fuzzy Relation and Genetic Algorithms: Analysis and Design

In this study, we introduce a new topology of Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks(FPNN) that is based on fuzzy relation and evolutionally optimized Multi-Layer Perceptron, discuss a comprehensive design methodology and carry out a series of numeric experiments. The construction of the evolutionally optimized FPNN(EFPNN) exploits fundamental technologies of Computational Intelligence. The architecture of the resulting EFPNN results from a synergistic usage of the genetic optimization-driven hybrid system generated by combining rule-based Fuzzy Neural Networks(FNN) with polynomial neural networks(PNN). FNN contributes to the formation of the premise part of the overall rule-based structure of the EFPNN. The consequence part of the EFPNN is designed using PNN. As the consequence part of the EFPNN, the development of the genetically optimized PNN(gPNN) dwells on two general optimization mechanism: the structural optimization is realized via GAs whereas in case of the parametric optimization we proceed with a standard least square method-based learning. To evaluate the performance of the EFPNN, the models are experimented with the use of several representative numerical examples. A comparative analysis shows that the proposed EFPNN are models with higher accuracy as well as more superb predictive capability than other intelligent models presented previously.
A Study on Education Satisfaction of e-learning

With rapid development of Internet, new paradigm creation requirement about the education environment and method is increasing and also the e-learning to apply traditional education industry was introduced in many field of education. The research about a learner`s satisfaction of the e-learning, aided by effort to spread this e-learning, have been processed much but most of these researches were intended for the enterprise and there are few for the high school. Therefore, in this study we proposed a model for evaluating the education satisfaction of the e-learning and analyzed the consciousness structure about the e-learning education satisfaction of the high school students using Fuzzy Structural Modeling method. Also, constructing an evaluation model considered the results of consciousness structure analysis, we evaluated the e-learning education satisfaction and showed a method which improved it by the sensitivity analysis.
Inelastic Constitutive Modeling for Viscoplastcity Using Neural Networks

Up to now, a number of models have been proposed and discussed to describe a wide range of inelastic behaviors of materials. The fetal problem of using such models is however the existence of model errors, and the problem remains inevitably as far as a material model is written explicitly. In this paper, the authors define the implicit constitutive model and propose an implicit viscoplastic constitutive model using neural networks. In their modeling, inelastic material behaviors are generalized in a state space representation and the state space form is constructed by a neural network using input output data sets. A technique to extract the input-output data from experimental data is also described. The proposed model was first generated from pseudo-experimental data created by one of the widely used constitutive models and was found to replace the model well. Then, having been tested with the actual experimental data, the proposed model resulted in a negligible amount of model errors indicating its superiority to all the existing explicit models in accuracy.

There are some problems in TMA. There are no databases in Korea which can be independently and specially analyzed the TMA results. Even there are some medical databases, some of them are low level databases which are related to TMA, so they can not serve medical services to patients as well as doctors. Moreover, TMA results are based on the database of american health and mineral standards, it is possibly mislead oriental, especially korean, mineral standards. The purposes of this paper is to develope the first Intelligent TMA Information System(ITS) which makes clear the problems mentioned earlier ITS can analyze TMA data with multiple stage decision tree classifier. It is also constructed with multiple fuzzy rule base and hence analyze the complex data from Korean database by fuzzy inference methods.
Solvent Manufacturing Process Monitoring using Artificial Neural Networks

Advances in sensors, actuators, and computers and developments In information systems offer unprecedented opportunities to implement highly ambitious automation, control and decision strategies. There are also new challenges and demands for control and automation in modern industrial practices. There is a growing need for an active participation from the information systems in industrial, manufacturing and process industry environments because currently there are many control problems. This paper provides pattern recognition to the monitoring system for solvent manufacturing process and shows performance in real-time response with multiple input signals. Data is teamed by a multilayer feedforward network trained by error-backpropagation. The two kinds of test results show that the trained network has the ability to show the current system status with different input data sets.
T-S Fuzzy Model-Based Adaptive Synchronization of Chaotic System with Unknown Parameters

This paper presents a fuzzy model-based adaptive approach for synchronization of chaotic systems which consist of the drive and response systems. Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is employed to represent the chaotic drive and response systems. Since the parameters of the drive system are assumed unknown, we design the response system that estimates the parameters of the drive system by adaptive strategy. The adaptive law is derived to estimate the unknown parameters and its stability is guaranteed by Lyapunov stability theory. In addition, the controller in the response system contains two parts: one part that can stabilize the synchronization error dynamics and the other part that estimates the unknown parameters. Numerical examples, including Doffing oscillator and Lorenz attractor, are given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed adaptive synchronization approach.
