Adaptive Facial Expression Recognition System based on Gabor Wavelet Neural Network

In this paper, adaptive Facial Emotional Recognition system based on Gabor Wavelet Neural Network, considering six feature Points in face image to extract specific features of facial expression, is proposed. Levenberg-Marquardt-based training methodology is used to formulate initial network, including feature extraction stage. Therefore, heuristics in determining feature extraction process can be excluded. Moreover, to make an adaptive network for new user, Q-learning which has enhanced reward function and unsupervised fuzzy neural network model are used. Q-learning enables the system to ge optimal Gabor filters' sets which are capable of obtaining separable features, and Fuzzy Neural Network enables it to adapt to the user's change. Therefore, proposed system has a good on-line adaptation capability, meaning that it can trace the change of user's face continuously.
Communication Model and Its Theoretical Analysis for Group Behavior of Swarm Robot

It is essential for robot to have the sensing and communication abilities in the swarm robot system. In general, as the number of robot goes on increasing, the limitation of communication capacity and information overflow occur in global communication system. Therefore a local communication is more effective than global one. In this paper, we analyze information propagation mechanism based on local communication. To find an optimal communication radius, we propose several methods with different conditions. Also, to avoid chaotic behavior which occurs when a robot obtains and loses information, we will suggest the stable condition of information propagation.

The complex system synchronization methods improve based on synchronization theory; however, due to deeper level of complexity within complex system compared to that of chaos system, it is difficult to synchronize complex signals from complex system. In this paper, we proposed coupled-synchronization theory in the n-double scroll circuit and new embedding driven-synchronization theory, a method of accomplishing synchronization with only one parameter out of may parameters, in hyper-chaos circuit to apply synchronization in the complex system. By applying proposed synchronization method using computer simulation, we confirmed the accomplishment of superior synchronization in complex system.
Hardware Implementation of a New Oscillatory Neural Circuit with Computational Function

A new oscillatory neural circuit with computational function has been designed and been designed and fabricated in an
double poly CMOS technology. The proposed oscillatory circuit consists of 3 neural oscillators with excitatory synapses and a neural oscillator with inhibitory synapse. The oscillator block which is a basic element of the neural circuit is designed with a variable negative resistor and 2 transconductors. The variable negative resistor which is used as a input stage of the oscillator consist of a bump circuit with Gaussian-like I-V curve. SPICE simulations of a designed neural circuit demonstrate cooperative computation. Measurements of the fabricated neural chip in condition of
2.5 V power supply are shown and compared with the simulated results.
Underachievers Realm Decision Support System using Computational Intelligence

In this paper, we proposed the system that supports underachievers realm decision of Korean language curriculum in the middle school. Learning disability and stagnation should be minimized by using and applying the proposed system. The input layer of the system contains 36 variables, which can be specific items in the Koran language curriculum. The variables are encoded with the specific coding schemes. The number of nodes in the hidden layer was determined through a series of learning stage with best result. We assigned 4 neurons, which correspond to one realm of the curriculum to output layer respectively. We used the multilayer perceptron and the error backpropagation algorithm to develope the system. A total of 2,008 data for training and 380 for testing were used for evaluating the performance.
Implementation of Emotional Model of Software Robot Using the Sensor Modules for External Environments

Recently, studying on modeling the emotion of a robot has become issued among fields of a humanoid robot and an interaction of human and robot. Especially, modeling of the motivation, the emotion, the behavior. and so on, in the robot, is hard and need to make efforts to use ow originality. In this paper, new modeling using mathematical formulations to represent the emotion and the behavior selection is proposed for the software robot with virtual sensor modules. Various points which affect six emotional states such as happy or sad are formulated as simple exponential equations with various parameters. There are several experiments with seven external sensor inputs from virtual environment and human to evaluate this modeling.

The educational system has been changed owing to Web, which is most actively used on internet and has the characteristics of providing suitable environments for implementing constructivism study theory. WBI(Web Based Instruction), web-mediated teaching form for students at a long distance, has the advantages of possible interact between instructors and learners, offering a great variety of learning materials, and overcome the spatiotemporal restriction. This paper focuces on the construction of learning surroundings where the learner-centered, active learning can be done by design and Implementation of web based instruct system providing a sham examination with an item pool system. The web based Self-directed Learning system for word processor qualifying exams on this paper, can be mentioned as a real item pool that the question is not setting each time by the instructors but can be reused by reference on item pool bank, designed the number of question. It helps the learner Self-directed Learning study with evaluation during the web based instruct process and immediate feedback. It also provides the chance to research some similar using keyword. To sum up, this system can amplify the efficiency of study.
A Study on the Development of Embedded Serial Multi-modal Biometrics Recognition System

The recent fingerprint recognition system has unstable factors, such as copy of fingerprint patterns and hacking of fingerprint feature point, which mali cause significant system error. Thus, in this research, we used the fingerprint as the main recognition device and then implemented the multi-biometric recognition system in serial using the speech recognition which has been widely used recently. As a multi-biometric recognition system, once the speech is successfully recognized, the fingerprint recognition process is run. In addition, speaker-dependent DTW(Dynamic Time Warping) algorithm is used among existing speech recognition algorithms (VQ, DTW, HMM, NN) for effective real-time process while KSOM (Kohonen Self-Organizing feature Map) algorithm, which is the artificial intelligence method, is applied for the fingerprint recognition system because of its calculation amount. The experiment of multi-biometric recognition system implemented in this research showed 2 to
lower FRR (False Rejection Ratio) than single recognition systems using each fingerprints or voice, but zero FAR (False Acceptance Ratio), which is the most important factor in the recognition system. Moreover, there is almost no difference in the recognition time(average 1.5 seconds) comparing with other existing single biometric recognition systems; therefore, it is proved that the multi-biometric recognition system implemented is more efficient security system than single recognition systems based on various experiments.

This paper is concerned with a quantitative computational trust model which lakes into account multiple evaluation criteria and uses the recommendation from others in order to get the trust value for entities. In the proposed trust model, the trust for an entity is defined as the expectation for the entity to yield satisfactory outcomes in the given situation. Once an interaction has been made with an entity, it is assumed that outcomes are observed with respect to evaluation criteria. When the trust information is needed, the satisfaction degree, which is the probability to generate satisfactory outcomes for each evaluation criterion, is computed based on the outcome probability distributions and the entity's preference degrees on the outcomes. Then, the satisfaction degrees for evaluation criteria are aggregated into a trust value. At that time, the reputation information is also incorporated into the trust value. This paper presents in detail how the trust model works.
The Design and Implementation of a Web Site for Self-directed Learning for Music Stages in Middle School

Lately teaching-learning system on the web site offers broad educational environment without any restriction of time and place to the teachers and learners. Using a web site in music education turned out to be effective. It provokes learner's interest and guides self-directed learning. Therefore, on this research, the web site for self-directed learning in music subject was designed and embodied as an assistant material of learning which is suitable for learner's level and demand As a result of using the web site in music class, there are some responses of students. First, there were 27 students positive responses
of 34 students in the learning effect of the web site, and 25 students
of 34 showed their will to use the web site continually if it is modified and supplemented. Second, some students answered that using this program in Diagnosis Evaluation and Formative Test could have an instant result, which was used for the material of feedback. Third, there was a positive evaluation of helping self-directed learning.
Group Behavior and Cooperative Strategies of Swarm Robot Based on Local Communication and Artificial Immune System

A Robot Soccer Strategy and Tactic Using Fuzzy Logic

This paper presents a strategy and tactic for robot soccer using furry logic mediator that determines robot action depending on the positions and the roles of adjacent two robots. Conventional Q-learning algorithm, where the number of states increases exponentially with the number of robots, is not suitable for a robot soccer system, because it needs so much calculation that processing cannot be accomplished in real time. A modular Q-teaming algorithm reduces a number of states by partitioning the concerned area, where mediator algorithm for cooperation of robots is used additionally. The proposed scheme implements the mediator algorithm among robots by fuzzy logic system, where simple fuzzy rules make the calculation easy and hence proper for robot soccer system. The simulation of MiroSot shows the feasibility of the proposed scheme.
Pattern Analysis of Core Competency Model for Subcontractors of Construction Companies Using Fuzzy TAM Network

The TAM(Topographic Attentive Mapping) network based on a biologically-motivated neural network model is an especially effective one for pattern analysis. It is composed of of input layer, category layer, and output layer. Fuzzy rule, for input and output data are acquired from it. The TAM network with three pruning rules for reducing links and nodes at the layer is called fuzzy TAM network. In this paper, we apply fuzzy TAM network to pattern analysis of core competency model for subcontractors of construction companies and show its usefulness.

Computing paradigm shift to internet-based one has accelerated the use of XML in diverse applications. This phenomena has made the explosive increases of XML data and it triggered many active researches in maintaining very huge amount of XML data in turn. In this paper we present a persistent graph-based XML indexing lot data-centric XML data. In our approach we use 3 graphs to represent XML indexes and XML data itself. They are schema graph, data graph index. And then we have mapped those graphs to B+-trees the persistency. With our approach we can achieve linear query execution time with the increase of XML sizes.
Dynamic Knowledge Map and SQL-based Inference Architecture for Medical Diagnostic Systems

In this research, we propose a hybrid inference architecture for medical diagnosis based on dynamic knowledge map (DKM) and relational database (RDB). Conventional expert systems (ES) and developing tools of ES has some limitations such as, 1) time consumption to extend the knowledge base (KB), 2) difficulty to change the inference path, 3) inflexible use of inference functions and operators. To overcome these Limitations, we use DKM in extracting the complex relationships and causal rules from human expert and other knowledge resources. The DKM also can help the knowledge engineers to change the inference path rapidly and easily. Then, RDB and its management systems help us to transform the relationships from diagram to relational table.

This paper presents a new linear-matrix-inequality-based intelligent digital redesign (LMI-based IDR) technique to match the states of the analog and the digital T-S fuzzy control systems at the intersampling instants as well as the sampling ones. The main features of the proposed technique are: 1) the affine control scheme is employed to increase the degree of freedom; 2) the fuzzy-model-based periodic control is employed, and the control input is changed n times during one sampling period; 3) The proposed IDR technique is based on the approximately discretized version of the T-S fuzzy system, but its discretization error vanishes as n approaches the infinity. 4) some sufficient conditions involved in the state matching and the stability of the closed-loop discrete-time system can be formulated in the LMIs format.
Fault Diagnosis of Induction Motor based on PCA and Nonlinear Classifier

In this paper, we propose fault diagnosis of induction motor based on PCA and MLP. To resolve the main drawback of MLP, we calculate the reduced features by PCA in advance. Finally, we develop the diagnosis system based on nonlinear classifier by MLP rather than linear classifier by conventional k-NN. By various experiments, we obtained better classification performance in comparison to the results produced by linear classifier by k-NN.
Ranking Translation Word Selection Using a Bilingual Dictionary and WordNet

This parer presents a method of ranking translation word selection for Korean verbs based on lexical knowledge contained in a bilingual Korean-English dictionary and WordNet that are easily obtainable knowledge resources. We focus on deciding which translation of the target word is the most appropriate using the measure of semantic relatedness through the 45 extended relations between possible translations of target word and some indicative clue words that play a role of predicate-arguments in source language text. In order to reduce the weight of application of possibly unwanted senses, we rank the possible word senses for each translation word by measuring semantic similarity between the translation word and its near synonyms. We report an average accuracy of
with ten Korean ambiguous verbs. The evaluation suggests that our approach outperforms the default baseline performance and previous works.
