Implementation of Intelligent Virtual Character Based on Reinforcement Learning and Emotion Model

Learning and emotions are very important parts to implement intelligent robots. In this paper, we implement intelligent virtual character based on reinforcement learning which interacts with user and have internal emotion model. Virtual character acts autonomously in 3D virtual environment by internal state. And user can learn virtual character specific behaviors by repeated directions. Mouse gesture is used to perceive such directions based on artificial neural network. Emotion-Mood-Personality model is proposed to express emotions. And we examine the change of emotion and learning behaviors when virtual character interact with user.

In this paper, we propose the human identification system based on Hidden Markov model using gait. Since each gait cycle consists of a set of continuous motion states and transition across states has probabilistic dependences, individual gait can be modeled using Hidden Markov model. We assume that individual gait consists of N discrete transitions and we propose gait feature representation, Modified Motion Silhouette Image (MMSI) to represent and recognize individual gait. MMSI is defined as a gray-level image and it provides not only spatial information but also temporal information. The experimental results show gait recognition performance of proposed system.
Learning Similarity between Hand-posture and Structure for View-invariant Hand-posture Recognition

This paper deals with a similarity decision method between the shape of hand-postures and their structures to improve performance of the vision-based hand-posture recognition system. Hand-posture recognition by vision sensors has difficulties since the human hand is an object with high degrees of freedom, and hence grabbed images present complex self-occlusion effects and, even for one hand-posture, various appearances according to viewing directions. Therefore many approaches limit the relative angle between cameras and hands or use multiple cameras. The former approach, however, restricts user's operation area. The latter requires additional considerations on the way of merging the results from each camera image to get the final recognition result. To recognize hand-postures, we use both of appearance and structural features and decide the similarity between the two types of features by learning.
A Navigation Algorithm for Mobile Robots in Unknown Environments

This paper deals with problems of safe and efficient navigation algorithm for autonomous mobile robots in unknown environments. Since the obstacle avoidance algorithms are very important in mobile robot navigation, two obstacle avoidance algorithms: VFH(vector field histogram) algorithm and a fuzzy algorithm are combined to have optimal performance in various environments. And a upper-level supervisor is to select the proper one from VFH algorithm and the fuzzy algorithm according to the situations the robot faces. Computer simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed navigation algorithm for autonomous mobile robots.
User-oriented Paper Search System by Relative Network

In this paper we propose a novel personalized paper search system using the relevance among user's queried keywords and user's behaviors on a searched paper list. The proposed system builds user's individual relevance network from analyzing the appearance frequencies of keywords in the searched papers. The relevance network is personalized by providing weights to the appearance frequencies of keywords according to users' behaviors on the searched list, such as 'downloading,' 'opening,' and 'no-action.' In the experimental section, we demonstrate our method using 100 users' search information in the University of Suwon.
Fuzzy Colored Timed Petri Nets for Context Inference

In context-aware computing environment, some context is characterized by a single event, but many other contexts are determined by a sequence of events which happen with some timing constraints. Therefore context inference could be conducted by monitoring the sequence of event occurrence along with checking their conformance with timing constraints. Some context could be described with fuzzy concepts instead of concrete concepts. Multiple entities may interact with a service system in the context-aware environments, and thus the context inference mechanism should be equipped to handle multiple entities in the same situation. This paper proposes a context inference model which is based on the so-called fuzzy colored timed Petri net. The model represents and handles the sequential occurrence of some events along with involving timing constraints, deals with the multiple entities using the colored Petri net model, and employs the concept of fuzzy tokens to manage the fuzzy concepts.
A Method and System to Compensate Vertical Component of 3-Dimensional Magnetic Field Sensor Using The Earth's Field

In this paper, a method and system to compensate vertical component of 3-dimensional magnetic field sensor using the earth's field was described. Output of magnetic field sensor have a output offset that is generated setting angle error of magnetic sensor and gain error. Thus, to using the magnetic field sensor, it must be compensated. The compensation of magnetic field sensor is required at shield space. However, using the earth's field, output offset of the sensor can be simply compensated. And, we designed system for compensation of the sensor. The proposed method and system are verified usefulness through experimental.
A method of converting fuzzy system into 2 layered hierarchical fuzzy system

To solve the rule explosion problem in multi input fuzzy logic system, a method of converting a given fuzzy system to 2 layered hierarchical fuzzy system is presented where the collection of the THEN-parts of the fuzzy rules of given fuzzy system is considered as vectors of fuzzy rule. At the 1 st layer, linearly independent fuzzy rule vectors generated from the given fuzzy logic system are used and, at the 2nd layer, linear combinations of these independent fuzzy rule vectors are used for fuzzy logic units at each layer. The resultant 2 layered hierarchical fuzzy system has not only equivalent approximation capability, but less number of fuzzy rules compared with the conventional fuzzy logic system.
A Study on the Application of AHP to Design Decision Model on Fuzzy System

As a part of study to develop a building design support system for architectural designer's design decision process, the drawbacks of fuzzy system-based design decision model suggested in the previous study have been made up for. A method of logically taking the characteristic and impact of design elements into designing HVAC type was suggested. For purpose of mirroring HAVC designer's working process, a model was developed using AHP, a way of decision making process in the inference process of optimum design values.
Development and Design of Robot Speed Reducer(RSR) with Straight Line Teeth Profile for Human Robot

There are many types of reduction drives for industrial applications. In general, high precision speed reducer which has a cycloid or involute teeth profile, used to in robot. Because, it is essential to use precision reduction drives for accuracy of position control on robot system. In this paper, we propose a robot speed reducer(RSR) with straight line teeth profile, which has basically a triangle teeth profile. In new straight line teeth profile, we have a good result for strength, stress and stiffness by using finite element analysis and the results indicate that variation of eccentric coefficient affects the optimal tooth motion, and it can lower the stress and noise.

A Study on Fuzzy Ranking Model based on User Preference

A great deal of research has been made to model the vagueness and uncertainty in information retrieval. One such research is fuzzy ranking models, which have been showing their superior performance in handling the uncertainty involved in the retrieval process. In this study we develop a new fuzzy ranking model based on the user preference. Through the experiments on the TREC-2 collection of Wall Street Journal documents, we show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional fuzzy ranking models.
Analysis of Electronic Endoscopic Image of Intramucosal Gastric Carcinoma Using Hemoglobin Index

It has been suggested that the endoscopic color of intramucosal gastric carcinoma is correlated with mucosal vascularity within the carcinomatous tissue. The development of electronic endoscopy has made it possible to quantitatively measure the mucosal hemoglobin volume, using a hemoglobin index. The aim of this study was to make a software program to calculate the hemoglobin index (IHb) and then investigate whether the mucosal IHb determined from the electronic endoscopic data is a useful marker for evaluating the color of intramucosal gastric carcinoma, in particular with regard to its value for discriminating between the histologic types. The mean values of IHb for the carcinoma (IHb-C) and the mean values of IHb for the surrounding non-cancerous mucosa (IHb-N) were calculated in 75 intestinal-type and 34 diffuse-type gastric carcinomas. Then, we analyzed the ratio of the IHb-C to IHb-N. The mean IHb-C/IHb-N ratio in the intestinal-type carcinoma group was higher than that in the diffuse-type carcinoma group (1.28
0.19 vs. 0.81
0.18, respectively, p<0.001). When the cut-off point of the C/N ratio was set at 1.00, the accuracy rate, the sensitivity, the specificity, and the positive and negative predictive values of a C/R ratio below 1.00 for the differential diagnosis of diffuse-type carcinoma from intestinal-type carcinoma were 94.5%, 94.1%, 94.7%, 88.9% and 97.3%, respectively. IHb is useful for quantitative measurement of the endoscopic color in intramucosal gastric carcinoma and the IHb-C/IHb-N ratio would be helpful in distinguishing diffuse-type carcinoma from intestinal-type carcinoma.

A Cooperative Fuzzy and CMAC Control for Cartpole System

A cartpole system is controlled by a control system consisting of two fuzzy controllers cooperating by a CMAC. Each controller uses 2 different input variables and yields the control force provided to the CMAC. The cooperation is due to training of the CMAC supervised by a judge which selects training information for the CMAC between two fuzzy controllers. The control scheme could be appreciated in terms of the tight structure of the controller, simple cooperating scheme due to the CMAC training, and accomplishing control goal that could not be attained by individual controllers.

We introduce the notion of intuitionistic fuzzy (t, s)-congruences on a lattice and study some of its properties. Moreover, we obtain some properties of intuitionistic fuzzy congruences on the direct product of two lattices. Finally, we prove that the set of all intuitionistic fuzzy congruences on a lattice forms a distributive lattice.
Face Recognition using LDA and Local MLP

Multilayer percepteon has the advantage of learning their optimal parameters and efficiency. However, MLP shows some drawbacks when dealing with high dimensional data within the input space. Also, it Is very difficult to find the optimal parameters when the input data are highly correlated such as large scale face dataset. In this paper, we propose a novel technique for face recognition based on LDA and local MLP. To resolve the main drawback of MLP, we calculate the reduced features by LDA in advance. And then, we construct a local MLP per group consisting of subset of facedatabase to find its optimal learning parameters rather than using whole faces. Finally, we designed the face recognition system combined with the local MLPs. From various experiments, we obtained better classification performance in comparison with the results produced by conventional methods such as PCA and LDA.
Development of Emotion Recognition Model based on Multi Layer Perceptron

In this paper, we propose sensibility recognition model that recognize user's sensibility using brain waves. Method to acquire quantitative data of brain waves including priority living body data or sensitivity data to recognize user's sensitivity need and pattern recognition techniques to examine closely present user's sensitivity state through next acquired brain waves becomes problem that is important. In this paper, we used pattern recognition techniques to use Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) that is pattern recognition techniques that recognize user's sensibility state through brain waves. We measures several subject's emotion brain waves in specification space for an experiment of sensibility recognition model's which propose in this paper and we made a emotion DB by the meaning data that made of concentration or stability by the brain waves measured. The model recognizes new user's sensibility by the user's brain waves after study by sensibility recognition model which propose in this paper to emotion DB. Finally, we estimates the performance of sensibility recognition model which used brain waves as that measure the change of recognition rate by the number of subjects and a number of hidden nodes.
Automatic Premature Ventricular Contraction Detection Using NEWFM

This paper presents an approach to detect premature ventricular contractions(PVC) using the neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions(NEWFM). NEWFM classifies normal and PVC beats by the trained weighted fuzzy membership functions using wavelet transformed coefficients extracted from the MIT-BIH PVC database. The two most important coefficients are selected by the non-overlap area distribution measurement method to minimize the classification rules that show PVC classification rate of 99.90%. By Presenting locations of the extracted two coefficients based on the R wave location, it is shown that PVC can be detected using only information of the two portions.
Operation diagnostic based on PCA for wastewater treatment

SBR is one of the most general sewage/wastewater treatment processes and, particularly, has an advantage in high concentration wastewater treatment like sewage wastewater. A Kernel PCA based fault diagnosis system for biological reaction in full-scale wastewater treatment plant was proposed using only common bio-chemical sensors such as ORP(Oxidation-Reduction Potential) and DO(Dissolved Oxygen). During the SBR operation, the operation status could be divided into normal status and abnormal status such as controller malfunction, influent disturbance and instrumental trouble. For the classification and diagnosis of these statuses, a series of preprocessing, dimension reduction using PCA, LDA, K-PCA and feature reduction was performed. Also, the diagnosis result using differential data was superior to that of raw data, and the fusion data show better results than other data. Also, the results of combination of K-PCA and LDA were better than those of LDA or (PCA+LDA). Finally, the fault recognition rate in case of using only ORP or DO was around maximum 97.03% and the fusion method showed better result of maximum 98.02%.
