Variable Speed Control of Wind Turbines Using Robust Fuzzy Algorithm

In this paper, we present the robust fuzzy algorithm for variable speed control of wind turbines. Generally, the plants of wind turbines are consisted of complex nonlinearities, and the parameters of variable speed of wind turbines are represented as uncertain terms. For solving these complexity, we propose the robust fuzzy algorithm. At first, the exact fuzzy modeling are performed for variable speed of wind turbines. Next, we design the fuzzy controller for reanalyzed T-S fuzzy model of the wind turbines, then, we prove the stability of the plant through the Lyapunov stability theorem. At last, an example is included for visualizing the efficiency of the proposed technique.
A Path Planning of Mobile Agents By Ant Colony Optimization

This paper suggests a Path-planning algorithm for mobile agents. While there are a lot of studies on the path-planning for mobile agents, mathematical modeling of complex environment which constrained by spatio-temporally is very difficult and it is impossible to obtain the optimal solutions. In this paper, an optimal path-planning algorithm based on the graphic technique is presented. The working environment is divided into two areas, the one is free movable area and the other is not permissible area in which there exist obstacles and spatio-temporally constrained, and an optimal solution is obtained by using a new algorithm which is based on the well known ACO algorithm.

As they have more and more intelligence robots or computers these days, so the interaction between intelligence robot(computer) - human is getting more and more important also the emotion recognition and expression are indispensable for interaction between intelligence robot(computer) - human. In this paper, firstly we extract emotional features at speech signal and facial image. Secondly we apply both BL(Bayesian Learning) and PCA(Principal Component Analysis), lastly we classify five emotions patterns(normal, happy, anger, surprise and sad) also, we experiment with decision fusion and feature fusion to enhance emotion recognition rate. The decision fusion method experiment on emotion recognition that result values of each recognition system apply Fuzzy membership function and the feature fusion method selects superior features through SFS(Sequential Forward Selection) method and superior features are applied to Neural Networks based on MLP(Multi Layer Perceptron) for classifying five emotions patterns. and recognized result apply to 2D facial shape for express emotion.

Generation of Efficient Fuzzy Classification Rules Using Evolutionary Algorithm with Data Partition Evaluation

Fuzzy rules are very useful and efficient to describe classification rules especially when the attribute values are continuous and fuzzy in nature. However, it is generally difficult to determine membership functions for generating efficient fuzzy classification rules. In this paper, we propose a method of automatic generation of efficient fuzzy classification rules using evolutionary algorithm. In our method we generate a set of initial membership functions for evolutionary algorithm by supervised clustering the training data set and we evolve the set of initial membership functions in order to generate fuzzy classification rules taking into consideration both classification accuracy and rule comprehensibility. To reduce time to evaluate an individual we also propose an evolutionary algorithm with data partition evaluation in which the training data set is partitioned into a number of subsets and individuals are evaluated using a randomly selected subset of data at a time instead of the whole training data set. We experimented our algorithm with the UCI learning data sets, the experiment results showed that our method was more efficient at average compared with the existing algorithms. For the evolutionary algorithm with data partition evaluation, we experimented with our method over the intrusion detection data of KDD'99 Cup, and confirmed that evaluation time was reduced by about 70%. Compared with the KDD'99 Cup winner, the accuracy was increased by 1.54% while the cost was reduced by 20.8%.
Cluster Based Fuzzy Model Tree Using Node Information

Cluster based fuzzy model tree has certain drawbacks to decrease performance of testinB data when over-fitting of training data exists. To reduce the sensitivity of performance due to over-fitting problem, we proposed a modified cluster based fuzzy model tree with node information. To construct model tree, cluster centers are calculated by fuzzy clustering method using all input and output attributes in advance. And then, linear models are constructed at internal nodes with fuzzy membership values between centers and input attributes. In the prediction step, membership values are calculated by using fuzzy distance between input attributes and all centers that passing the nodes from root to leaf nodes. Finally, data prediction is performed by the weighted average method with the linear models and fuzzy membership values. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, we have applied our method to various dataset. Under various experiments, our proposed method shows better performance than conventional cluster based fuzzy model tree.
Occlusive Face Recognition using the Selective Subspace Projection Method

In this paper, we propose a new selective subspace projection method in order to recognize the occlusive face image effectively. The conventional subspace projection method is project to basis image using a full image of face. The face recognition rate has reduced because the face characteristic is easy to be distorted by occlusion. To overcome this problem, the proposed method first decide to occlusion. If it hasn't an occlusion, we get the feature vectors with total basis projection using the conventional subspace projection method. If it has an occlusion, we get one with partial basis projection. We get better recognition rate than conventional PCA and NMF using AR face database with occlusive face images.
A Personalized Hand Gesture Recognition System using Soft Computing Techniques

Recently, vision-based hand gesture recognition techniques have been developed for assisting elderly and disabled people to control home appliances. Frequently occurred problems which lower the hand gesture recognition rate are due to the inter-person variation and intra-person variation. The recognition difficulty caused by inter-person variation can be handled by using user dependent model and model selection technique. And the recognition difficulty caused by intra-person variation can be handled by using fuzzy logic. In this paper, we propose multivariate fuzzy decision tree learning and classification method for a hand motion recognition system for multiple users. When a user starts to use the system, the most appropriate recognition model is selected and used for the user.
Development of Robust Intelligent Digital Controller for Smart Space

In this paper, we concern the stability of smart space by using the robust digital controller. The proposed methodologies are based on the intelligent digital redesign (IDR). More precisely, we represent the nonlinear and uncertain analog system as the Takaki-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. Then the IDR problem can be reduced to find the digital gains minimizing the norm distance between the closed-loop states of the analog and digital control. Its constructive conditions are expressed as the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). At last, a numerical example, HVAC system, is demonstrated to visualize the feasibility of the proposed methodology.
Recording Support System for Off-Line Conference using Face and Speaker Recognition

Recent multimedia technology has supported various application services based on the development of effective movie compression and network techniques. On-line video conference system is a typical example that use theses two technologies effectively. On-line video conference system can be characterized into an effective conferencing method for long-distanced on-line conference members. But, unfortunately, off-line conference with face-to-face meeting is more frequent than on-line conference and their support systems have not been sufficiently considered. In this paper, we propose a recording support system for off-Line conference using face and speaker recognition. This system finds the speaker in the conference by using three microphones and three webcam cameras. And analysis is done with face region information that gathered by currently active webcam camera, and recognizes the identity of face. Finally, the system tracks speaker and records conference with extract speaker information.
Fusion algorithm for Integrated Face and Gait Identification

Identification of humans from multiple view points is an important task for surveillance and security purposes. For optimal performance the system should use the maximum information available from sensors. Multimodal biometric systems are capable of utilizing more than one physiological or behavioral characteristic for enrollment, verification, or identification. Since gait alone is not yet established as a very distinctive feature, this paper presents an approach to fuse face and gait for identification. In this paper we will use the single camera case i.e both the face and gait recognition is done using the same set of images captured by a single camera. The aim of this paper is to improve the performance of the system by utilizing the maximum amount of information available in the images. Fusion in considered at decision level. The proposed algorithm is tested on the NLPR database.
Extension and Evaluation of Cooperation Protocol for Agent-based Videoconference System

In this paper, we propose the extension of cooperation protocol which realizes the autonomous control of QoS and show its effectiveness with implementation and experiments of our agent-based videoconference system. The autonomous QoS control in the agent-based videoconference system means the framework of adjusting its functions/abilities by itself to cope with the changes of user requirements and system resource situations. But, the original cooperation protocol used by the agent-based videoconference system is not enough to perform cooperation closely to use the limited resources effectively. In our proposal, the cooperation protocol is offended in the following points: (1) introducing a cooperation states, (2) extension of performatives, (3) introducing compromise levels. We embedded the proposed protocol to the agent-based videoconference system and experimented the behavior of the system. According to the experiments on this prototype system, we confirmed that the flexibility of the system is improved.
A Study on Focused Crawling of Web Document for Building of Ontology Instances

The construction of ontology defines as complicated semantic relations needs precise and expert skills. For the well defined ontology in real applications, plenty of information of instances for ontology classes is very critical. In this study, crawling algorithm which extracts the fittest topic from the Web overflowing over by a great number of documents has been focused and developed. Proposed crawling algorithm made a progress to gather documents at high speed by extracting topic-specific Link using URL patterns. And topic fitness of Link block text has been represented by fuzzy sets which will improve a precision of the focused crawler.
Feature Selection by Genetic Algorithm and Information Theory

In the pattern classification problem, feature selection is an important technique to improve performance of the classifiers. Particularly, in the case of classifying with a large number of features or variables, the accuracy of the classifier can be improved by using the relevant feature subset to remove the irrelevant, redundant, or noisy data. In this paper we propose a feature selection method using genetic algorithm and information theory. Experimental results show that this method can achieve better performance for pattern recognition problems than conventional ones.
Biped robot gait pattern generation using frequency feature of human's gait torque analysis

This paper proposes a method of adaptively generating a gait pattern of biped robot. The gait synthesis is based on human's gait pattern analysis. The proposed method can easily be applied to generate the natural and stable gait pattern of any biped robot. To analyze the human's gait pattern, sequential images of the human's gait on the sagittal plane are acquired from which the gait control values are extracted. The gait pattern of biped robot on the sagittal plane is adaptively generated by a genetic algorithm using the human's gait control values. However, galt trajectories of the biped robot on the sagittal Plane are not enough to construct the complete gait pattern because the bided robot moves on 3-dimension space. Therefore, the gait pattern on the frontal plane, generated from Zero Moment Point (ZMP), is added to the gait one acquired on the sagittal plane. Consequently, the natural and stable walking pattern for the biped robot is obtained.
Design of Fuzzy Logic Based Parking Systems for Intelligent Vehicles

Recently, autonomous parking problems have attracted a great deal of attention and have been examined in many papers in the literature. In this paper we design a fuzzy logic based parking system which is an important part for designing an autonomous parking system. We first analysis the existed papers and design a single-input fuzzy logic system for the parking algorithm and illustrate the effectiveness of the new method via the simulation results.
Fuzzy Reasoning based Selection Operator for Genetic Algorithm

This paper introduces a selection operator which utilized similarity and fitness of individuals based on fuzzy inference. Adding similarity feature to fitness, proposed selector obtained the decrease of premature convergence and better performances than other selectors. Moreover, an adoption of steady-state evolution provided enhancement of performances additionally. Experiments of proposed method for deceptive problems were tested and showed better performances than conventional methods.
Stress Intensity Factor Analysis System for 3D Cracks Using Fuzzy Mesh

Integrating a 3D solid modeler with a general purpose FEM code, an automatic stress intensity factor analysis system of the 3D crack problems has been developed. A geometry model, i.e. a solid containing one or several 3D cracks is defined. Several distributions of local node density are chosen, and then automatically superposed on one another over the geometry model by using the fuzzy knowledge processing. Nodes are generated and quadratic tetrahedral solid elements are generated by the Delaunay triangulation techniques. Finally, the complete finite element(FE) model generated, and a stress analysis is performed. This paper describes the methodologies to realize such functions, and demonstrates the validity of the present system.
A Natural Language Query Framework for the Semantic Web

This study proposes a Natural Language Query Framework (NLQF) for the semantic web. It supports an intelligent inference at a semantic level. Most of previous researches focused on the knowledge representation on the semantic web. However, to revitalize the intelligent e-business on the semantic web, there is a need for semantic level inference to the web information. To satisfy the need, we will review the knowledge/resource representation on the semantic web such as RDF, Ontology and Conceptual Graph (CG), and then discuss about the natural language (NL) inference. The result of this research could support a natural interface for the semantic web. Furthermore, we expect that the NLQF can be used in the semantic web-based business communications.
A New Anchor Shot Detection System for News Video Indexing

In this paper, we propose a novel anchor shot detection system, named to MASD (Multi-phase Anchor Shot Detection), which is a core step of the preprocessing process for the news video analysis. The proposed system is composed of four modules and operates sequentially: 1) skin color detection module for reducing the candidate face regions; 2) face detection module for finding the key-frames with a facial data; 3) vector representation module for the key-frame images using a non-negative matrix factorization; 4) one class SVM module for determining the anchor shots using a support vector data description. Besides the qualitative analysis, our experiments validate that the proposed system shows not only the comparable accuracy to the recently developed methods, but also more faster detection rate than those of others.
Classification of Proximity Relational Using Multiple Fuzzy Alpha Cut(MFAC)

Generally, real system that is the object of decision-making is very variable and sometimes it lies situations with uncertainty. To solve these problem, it has used statistical methods as significance level, certainty factor, sensitivity analysis and so on. In this paper, we propose a method for fuzzy decision-making based on MFAC(Multiple Fuzzy Alpha Cut) to improve the definiteness of classification results with similarity evaluation. In the proposed method, MFAC is used for extracting multiple a
-level with proximity degree at proximity relation between relative Hamming distance and max-min method and for minimizing the number of data which are associated with the partition intervals extracted by MFAC. To determine final alternative of decision-making, we compute the weighted value between extracted data by MFAC From the experimental results, we can see the fact that the proposed method is simpler and more definite than classification performance of the conventional methods and determines an alternative efficiently for decision-maker by testing significance of sample data through statistical method.
Similarity Measure Construction for Non-Convex Fuzzy Membership Function

The similarity measure is constructed for non-convex fuzzy membership function using well known Hamming distance measure. Comparison with convex fuzzy membership function is carried out, furthermore characteristic analysis for non-convex function are also illustrated. Proposed similarity measure is proved and the usefulness is verified through example. In example, usefulness of proposed similarity is pointed out.
