Dynamic Facial Expression of Fuzzy Modeling Using Probability of Emotion

This paper suggests to apply mirror-reflected method based 2D emotion recognition database to 3D application. Also, it makes facial expression of fuzzy modeling using probability of emotion. Suggested facial expression function applies fuzzy theory to 3 basic movement for facial expressions. This method applies 3D application to feature vector for emotion recognition from 2D application using mirror-reflected multi-image. Thus, we can have model based on fuzzy nonlinear facial expression of a 2D model for a real model. We use average values about probability of 6 basic expressions such as happy, sad, disgust, angry, surprise and fear. Furthermore, dynimic facial expressions are made via fuzzy modelling. This paper compares and analyzes feature vectors of real model with 3D human-like avatar.
Licence Plate Recognition Using Improved IAFC Fuzzy Neural Network

In this paper, we propose a system that extracts licence plate and recognizes numerals in the licence plate. The candidate area of licence plate is extracted using the improved IAFC(Integrated Adaptive Fuzzy Clustering) fuzzy neural network. And the morphological filters are used to reduce noise from the extracted licence plate. The extracted licence plate is standardized using Hough transform and geometric transform. Backpropagation neural network is used to recognize numerals that are separated using the projection technique.
An Emotion Processing Model using Multiple Valued Logic Functions

Usually, human emotions are vague and change diversely on the basis of the stimulus from the outside. Plutchik classified the fundamental behavioral patterns into eight patterns, named each of them a genuine emotion, and furthermore suggested mixed emotions using a combination of genuine emotions. In this paper, we propose a method for processing Plutchik's emotion model using Multiple Valued Logic(MVL) Automata Model which utilizes the properties of difference in Multiple Valued Logic functions. This proposed emotion processing model can be widely applied to the analysis and processing of emotion data.
Fuzzy Binomial Proportion Test by Agreement Index

We propose some properties for fuzzy binomial proportion test by agreement index. First we define fuzzy probability space and fuzzy type I error and type II error for the fuzzy probability of the two type errors. Also, we show that a fuzzy power function of performance for a fuzzy hypothesis test and drawing conclusions from the test.
Multiple Model Fuzzy Prediction Systems with Adaptive Model Selection Based on Rough Sets and its Application to Time Series Forecasting

Recently, the TS fuzzy models that include the linear equations in the consequent part are widely used for time series forecasting, and the prediction performance of them is somewhat dependent on the characteristics of time series such as stationariness. Thus, a new prediction method is suggested in this paper which is especially effective to nonstationary time series prediction. First, data preprocessing is introduced to extract the patterns and regularities of time series well, and then multiple model TS fuzzy predictors are constructed. Next, an appropriate model is chosen for each input data by an adaptive model selection mechanism based on rough sets, and the prediction is going. Finally, the error compensation procedure is added to improve the performance by decreasing the prediction error. Computer simulations are performed on typical cases to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. It may be very useful for the prediction of time series with uncertainty and/or nonstationariness because it handles and reflects better the characteristics of data.
Development of Context Awareness and Service Reasoning Technique for Handicapped People

As a subjective recognition effect, human's emotion has impulsive characteristic and it expresses intentions and needs unconsciously. These are pregnant with information of the context about the ubiquitous computing environment or intelligent robot systems users. Such indicators which can aware the user's emotion are facial image, voice signal, biological signal spectrum and so on. In this paper, we generate the each result of facial and voice emotion recognition by using facial image and voice for the increasing convenience and efficiency of the emotion recognition. Also, we extract the feature which is the best fit information based on image and sound to upgrade emotion recognition rate and implement Multi-Modal Emotion recognition system based on feature fusion. Eventually, we propose the possibility of the ubiquitous computing service reasoning method based on Bayesian Network and ubiquitous context scenario in the ubiquitous computing environment by using result of emotion recognition.
Proxy Caching Grouping by Partition and Mapping for Distributed Multimedia Streaming Service

Recently, dynamic proxy caching has been proposed on the distributed environment so that media objects by user's requests can be served directly from the proxy without contacting the server. However, it makes caching challenging due to multimedia large sizes, low latency and continuous streaming demands of media objects. To solve the problems caused by streaming demands of media objects, this paper has been proposed the grouping scheme with fuzzy filtering based on partition and mapping. Handy Robot that Conveys User's Emotion

In this paper, we propose an efficient method of representing human emotions that are conveyed during conversations. In order to develop a robot that comes close to thinking, acting, and expressing like humans, many researches have been conducted. Among these researches, the proposed method is developed based upon 6 emotion identification systems. The proposed method first analyzes conversations between humans, decides an emotion on the basis of the analysis, and represents the emotion by an action, an image, and a sound. We implemented the proposed method using a hand-sized robot.
Electromyogram Pattern Recognition by Hierarchical Temporal Memory Learning Algorithm

This paper presents a new electromyogram (EMG) pattern recognition method based on the Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM) algorithm which is originally devised for image pattern recognition. In the modified HTM algorithm, a simplified two-level structure with spatial pooler, temporal pooler, and supervised mapper is proposed for efficient learning and classification of the EMG signals. To enhance the recognition performance, the category information is utilized not only in the supervised mapper but also in the temporal pooler. The experimental results show that the ten kinds of hand motion are successfully recognized.
New Generation Gap Models for Evolutionary Algorithm in Real Parameter Optimization

Two new generation gap models with modified parent-centric recombination(PCX) operator are proposed. First, the self-adaptation generation gap(SGG) model is a control method that keeps a replaced probability of parents by offspring to a certain level which obtains better performance. Second, virtual cluster generation gap(VCGG) is provided to extend distances among parents using clustering, which causes it to diversify individuals. In this model, distances among parents can be controlled by size of clusters. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our two proposed approaches, experiments for three standard test problems are executed and compared to most competing current approaches, CMA-ES and Generalized Generation Gap(G3) with PCX. It is shown two proposed methods are superior to consistently other approaches in the study.
Ontology-based Control of Autonomous Robots

In this paper, we propose a method of ontology-based control of autonomous robots. Advancing one step further from using ontology as a hierarchical storage of information, the proposed method shows how to control robots through ontology inference. That is, the information on obstacles detected by robots is represented as an ontology, and robots' action planning and control are performed according to robots' surroundings through ontology inference. We make a differentially driven robot and illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method via the experiment of the robot's navigation in real environment.
Biometric Features and Responsible Person Information Hiding by Watermarking Technique

This paper propose a method to hide not only biometric features in the biometric image such as face and fingerprint for protecting them from unauthorized entity but also information of responsible person expressed as binary image which can be used to identify the responsibility of divulgence. For this, we investigate the recognition rates and bit error rates of extracted responsible person information watermark for the cases of using face and fingerprint images as cover images for fingerprint and face recognition which are the most popular biometric techniques. From these experiments, we confirm that the proposed method can be used for various application requiring to protect personal biometric information
Development of Fan Balancer System for Detecting Unbalance of Automobile Cooling Fan

Generally, automobile cooling fan is used to lower the temperature of radiator. The cooling fans are manufactured by plastic injection molding process. The center of gravity of cooling fan is often deviated from the center due to the use of deteriorated materials. As the unbalanced of the cooing fan can generate noise, it is required to measure the degree of deviation of center of gravity in the cooling fan. In this work, automatic fan balancer which can effectively detect the magnitude and position of the unbalanced cooling fan is proposed and several experiments are carried out to verify the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
Datawise Discriminant Analysis For Feature Extraction

This paper presents a new feature extraction algorithm which can deal with the problems of linear discriminant analysis, widely used for linear dimensionality reduction. The scatter matrices included in linear discriminant analysis are defined by the distances between each datum and its class mean, and those between class means and mean of whole data. Use of these scatter matrices can cause computational problems and the limitation on the number of features. In addition, these definition assumes that the data distribution is unimodal and normal, for the cases not satisfying this assumption the appropriate features are not achieved. In this paper we define a new scatter matrix which is based on the differently weighted distances between individual data, and presents a feature extraction algorithm using this scatter matrix. With this new method. the mentioned problems of linear discriminant analysis can be avoided, and the features appropriate for discriminating data can be achieved. The performance of this new method is shown by experiments.
Constitutive Parameter Identification of Inelastic Equations Using an Evolutionary Algorithm

This paper presents a method for identifying the parameter set of inelastic constitutive equations, which is based on an Evolutionary Algorithm. The advantage of the method is that appropriate parameters can be identified even when the measured data are subject to considerable errors and the model equations are inaccurate. The design of experiments suited for the parameter identification of a material model by Chaboche under the uniaxial loading and stationary temperature conditions was first considered. Then the parameter set of the model was identified by the proposed method from a set of experimental data. In comparison to those by other methods, the resultant stress-strain curves by the proposed method correlated better to the actual material behaviors.
An Interval Type-2 Fuzzy PCM Algorithm for Pattern Recognition

The Possibilistic C-means(PCM) was proposed to overcome some of the drawbacks associated with the Fuzzy C-means(FCM) such as improved performance for noise data. However, PCM possesses some drawbacks such as sensitivity in initial parameter values and to patterns that have relatively short distances between the prototypes. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose an interval type 2 fuzzy approach to PCM by considering uncertainty in the fuzzy parameter m in the PCM algorithm.
Behavior Planning for Humanoid Robot Using Behavior Primitive

In this paper, we presents a behavior planning for humanoid robots using behavior primitive in 3 dimensional workspace. Also, we define behavior primitives that humanoid robot accomplishes various tasks effectively. Humanoid robot obtains information of the outside environment and its inner information from various sensors in complex workspace with various obstacles. We verify our approach on a developed small humanoid robot using embedded vision and sensor system in a experimental environment. The experimental results show that the humanoid robot performs its tasks fast and effectively.
An Educational Service Platform using Collective Intelligence and Presence of Web 2.0

Web 2.0 has become the face next generation Web among the business world and research community. Web 2.0 is instant superficial gratification of people. On the other hand, Semantic Web is deep, meaningful and lasting relationship with data. So, it is difficult to apply the Semantic Web to the real world. In this paper, a platform for educational services using the Semantic Web and Web 2.0 is proposed. The proposed platform is based mix of the Semantic Web and Web 2.0, so it is useful to apply in the real world applications. Two services are presented, one is a semantic email system and the other is a cyber study space. The cyber study space adjusted each student is presented. The study environment is called iStudySpace that has personal scheduler, study status plan table, personalized search engine and several gadgets. Finally characteristics and limitations of the Semantic Web and Web 2.0, the organization and components of the platform, evaluation of iStudySpace are shown.
Brain-Computer Interface based on Changes of EEG on Broca's Area

In this paper, we measured EEG signals on frontal and Broca's area when subjects imagine to speak A or B or C or D. These signals were analyzed by Event-Related Spectral Perturbation (ERSP), Inter-Trial Coherence (ITC) and Event Related Potential (ERP) methods. As a result, high coherences were showed at 1

300ms after the stimuli of each character and P300 was seen clearly and there are several differences between the ERP results. However, unlike the motivation of this study to classify the characters, it is impossible that we can classify each intention or each character cause these differences. Nevertheless, this paper suggest an application system using this results so BCI can provide various services.

As it got through the step of super-high speed internet, mobile and digital convergence, the Ubiquitous Society is being attained gradually. Now, it is being variously spread not only the little ordinaries of communication but also fields of economy and industry. Specially, RFID and Navigation system are being used at home and foreign. These are prospected to give assistances that it brings along the competitive power of nation. But inflection range of RFID and Navigation is localized in the most simplest. This paper proposes system to reflect the individual and special quality using RFID and Navigation and to fit easily changing environment. And we studied to use what kind of information in the special environment. We used Fuzzy Logic and TSP for making the intelligence path searching and guiding system with more information.
OFDM System for Wireless-PAN related short distance Maritime Data Communication

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been focused on as 4th generation communication method for realization of Ubiquitous Network in land mobile communications services, and has been a standard technology of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for a High Date Rate communication. And in maritime data communication using high frequency (HF) band, 32-point FFT OFDM system is recommended by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Maritime communication should be kept on connecting when maritime accident or the maritime disaster happen. Therefore, main device FFT should be operated with low power consumption. In this paper we propose a low power 32-point FFT algorithm using radix-2 and radix-4 for low power operation. The proposed algorithm was designed using VHSIC hardware description language (VHDL), and it was confirmed that the output value of Spartan-3 field-programmable gate array (FPGA) board corresponded to the output value calculated using Matlab. The proposed 32-point FFT algorithm will be useful as a leading technology in a HF maritime data communication.
