Meeting Minutes Summarization using Two-step Sentence Extraction

These days many meeting minutes of various organizations are publicly available and the interest in these documents by people is increasing. However, it is time-consuming and tedious to read and understand whole documents even if the documents can be accessed easily. In addition, what most people want from meeting minutes is to catch the main issues of the meeting and understand its contexts rather than to know whole discussions of the meetings. This paper proposes a novel method for summarizing documents considering the characteristics of the meeting minutes. It first extracts the sentences which are addressing the main issues. For each issues expressed in the extracted sentences, the sentences related with the issue are then extracted in the next step. Then, by transforming the extracted sentences into a tree-structure form, the results of the proposed method can be understood better than existing methods. In the experiments, the proposed method shows remarkable improvement in performance and this result implies that the proposed method is plausible for summarizing meeting minutes.
Fast Axis Estimation from 3D Axially-Symmetric Object`s Fragment

To reduce the computational cost required for assembling vessel fragments using surface geometry, this paper proposes a fast axis estimation method. Using circular constraint of pottery and local planar patch assumption, it finds the axis of the symmetry. First, the circular constraint on each cylinder is used. A circular symmetric pot can be thought of unions of many cylinders with different radii. It selects one arbitrary point on the pot fragment surface and searches a path where a circumference exists on that point. The variance of curvature will be calculated along the path and the path with the minimum variance will be selected. The symmetric axis will pass through the center of that circle. Second, the planar patch assumption and profile curve is used. The surface of fragment is divided into small patches and each patch is assumed as plane. The surface normal of each patch will intersects the axis in 3D space since each planar patch faces the center of the pot. A histogram method and minimization of the profile curve error are utilized to find the probability distribution of the axis location. Experimental results demonstrate the improvement in speed and robustness of the algorithms.
A Lagrangian Heuristic for the Multidimensional 0-1 Knapsack Problem

In general, Lagrangian method for discrete optimization is a kind of technique to easily manage constraints. It is traditionally used for finding upper bounds in the branch-and-bound method. In this paper, we propose a new Lagrangian search method for the 0-1 knapsack problem with multiple constraints. A novel feature of the proposed method different from existing Lagrangian approaches is that it can find high-quality lower bounds, i.e., feasible solutions, efficiently based on a new property of Lagrangian vector. We show the performance improvement of the proposed Lagrangian method over existing ones through experiments on well-known large scale benchmark data.
A Wear-leveling Scheme for NAND Flash Memory based on Update Patterns of Data

In the case of NAND flash memory, a whole block needs to be erased for update operations because update-in- place operations are not supported in NAND flash memory. Blocks of NAND flash memory have the limited erasure cycles, so frequently updated data (hot data) easily makes blocks worn out. As the result, the capacity of NAND flash memory will be reduced by hot data. In this paper, we propose a wear-leveling algorithm by discriminating hot and cold data based on the update patterns of data. When we applied this scheme to NAND flash memory, we confirmed that the erase counts of blocks became more uniform by mapping hot data to a block with a low erase count and cold data to block with a high erase count.
The Performance Verification of Optimal State Feedback Controllers via The Inverted Pendulum

This paper presents the performance verification of the optimal state feedback controller via inverted pendulum systems. The proposed method generates the optimal control inputs satisfying both the constrained input and the performance specification. In addition, it reduces the steady-state error by adopting the integral control technique. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method, we apply both the proposed method and the general state feedback control to an inverted pendulum, CEM-IP-01 in the experiment.
Analysis on Dynamic Motion of Robotic Arm and Body Mechanism

This paper analyzes the fundamental dynamic motion of a robotic arm and body mechanism on the platform of a mobile manipulation system. For the purpose, we reveal the dynamic coefficients of a robotic arm and body mechanism, and identify their dominant behaviors in an exemplar trajectory following simulation. We also discuss on their influence for the motion of the body, shoulder, and elbow joints. It is finally expected that this analysis is helpful for effective manipulation tasks by using mobile manipulation systems with an arm and body mechanism.
Genetic Programming based Illumination Robust and Non-parametric Multi-colors Detection Model

This paper introduces GP(Genetic Programming) based color detection model for an object detection and tracking. Existing color detection methods have used linear/nonlinear transformatin of RGB color-model and improved color model for illumination variation by optimization or learning techniques. However, most of cases have difficulties to classify various of colors because of interference of among color channels and are not robust for illumination variation. To solve these problems, we propose illumination robust and non-parametric multi-colors detection model using evolution of GP. The proposed method is compared to the existing color-models for various colors and images with different lighting conditions.
Lane Detection in Complex Environment Using Grid-Based Morphology and Directional Edge-link Pairs

This paper presents a real-time lane detection method which can accurately find the lane-mark boundaries in complex road environment. Unlike many existing methods that pay much attention on the post-processing stage to fit lane-mark position among a great deal of outliers, the proposed method aims at removing those outliers as much as possible at feature extraction stage, so that the searching space at post-processing stage can be greatly reduced. To achieve this goal, a grid-based morphology operation is firstly used to generate the regions of interest (ROI) dynamically, in which a directional edge-linking algorithm with directional edge-gap closing is proposed to link edge-pixels into edge-links which lie in the valid directions, these directional edge-links are then grouped into pairs by checking the valid lane-mark width at certain height of the image. Finally, lane-mark colors are checked inside edge-link pairs in the YUV color space, and lane-mark types are estimated employing a Bayesian probability model. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective in identifying lane-mark edges among heavy clutter edges in complex road environment, and the whole algorithm can achieve an accuracy rate around 92% at an average speed of 10ms/frame at the image size of
Low-Power Walking Compensation Method for Biped Robot Based on Consumption Energy Analysis

In this paper we propose a low-power walking compensation method for biped robot based on consumption energy analysis. Firstly, basic walking motions that can reduce energy consumption of robot movements are implemented based on consumption energy analysis according to robot axes. We define knee bent motion as a basic walking motion. It can improve energy consumption and motion stability by lowering center of gravity of the biped robot. We analyze consumption energy of left and right leg of the robot using motor currents and propose a compensation method of walking motions to reduce unbalance of consumption energy between left leg and right leg. It can also improve energy consumption and walking stability of the robot. The proposed low-power compensation method based on consumption energy analysis is verified by walking experiments of a small biped robot with an embedded system.
A Study on Intelligent Navigation System using Soft-computing

In this paper, we propose an intelligent navigation system that selects a proper route for user and applies the user`s preference, user`s tendency and environmental state estimated by driving information of user and road state. The system uses data of sensors, navigation and intelligent transport system to evaluate conditions of roads and it considers state of user`s emotion. The system also uses soft-computing method to infer and learn the user`s preference and tendency. We verify the proposed algorithm by computer simulation.
Facial Expression Recognition by Combining Adaboost and Neural Network Algorithms

Human facial expression shows human`s emotion most exactly, so it can be used as the most efficient tool for delivering human`s intention to computer. For fast and exact recognition of human`s facial expression on a 2D image, this paper proposes a new method which integrates an Discrete Adaboost classification algorithm and a neural network based recognition algorithm. In the first step, Adaboost algorithm finds the position and size of a face in the input image. Second, input detected face image into 5 Adaboost strong classifiers which have been trained for each facial expressions. Finally, neural network based recognition algorithm which has been trained with the outputs of Adaboost strong classifiers determines final facial expression result. The proposed algorithm guarantees the realtime and enhanced accuracy by utilizing fastness and accuracy of Adaboost classification algorithm and reliability of neural network based recognition algorithm. In this paper, the proposed algorithm recognizes five facial expressions such as neutral, happiness, sadness, anger and surprise and achieves 86~95% of accuracy depending on the expression types in real time.
Error Minimization of Angular Velocity using Encoders and Gyro

This paper is presented to study the error minimization of angular velocity for AGV(autonomous ground vehicle). The error minimization of angular velocity is related to localization technique which is the most important technique for autonomous vehicle. Accelerometer, yaw gyro and electronic compass have been used to measure angular velocity. And methods for error minimization of angular velocity have been actively studied through probabilistic methods and sensor fusion for AGVs. However, those sensors still occure accumulated error by mathematical error, system characters of each sensor, and computational cost are increased greatly when several sensor are used to correct accumulated error. Therefore, this paper studies about error minimization of angular velocity that just uses encoder and gyro. To experiment, we use autonomous vehicle which is made by ourselves. In experimental result, we verified that the localization error of proposed method has even less than the localization errors which we just used encoder and gyro respectively.
Online GA-based Nonlinear System Identification

Genetic algorithm is known to be an effective method to solve a global nonlinear optimization. However, a huge amount of calculation is needed to improve the dependability of the solution and thus Ga is not adequate for online implementation. In this paper, we propose an online nonlinear system identification scheme which employs population feedback genetic algorithm. The effectiveness of our scheme is shown by several simulations.
Forgery Protection System and 2D Bar-code inserted Watermark

Generally, the copy protection mark and 2D bar-code techniques are widely used for forgery protection in printed public documents. But, it is hard to discriminate truth from the copy documents by using exisiting methods, because of that existing 2D-barcode is separated from the copy protection mark and it can be only recognized by specified optical barcord scanner. Therefor, in this paper, we proposed the forgery protection tehchnique for discriminating truth from the copy document by using watermark inserted 2D-barcord, which can be accurately distinguished not only by naked eye, but also by scanner. The copy protection mark consists of deformed patterns that are caused by the lowpass filter characteristic of digital I/O device. From these, we verified the performance of the proposed techniques by applying the histogram analysis based on the original, copy, and scanned copy image of the printed documents. Also, we suggested 2D-barcord confirmation system which can be accessed through the online server by using certification key data which is detected by web-camera, cell phone camera.
Intelligent Path Planning and Following for Coordinated Control of Heterogeneous Marine Robots

In real system application, the path planning and following system for the coordinated control of heterogeneous marine robots based on the underwater acoustic communication has the following problems: surface and underwater robots have different maneuvering properties, an underwater robot requires more effective operating, it has a limited communication range because of the transmission loss (TL) of acoustic wave, it has a communication error because of the Doppler distortion of acoustic wave, and further, it requires an easy design procedure in terms of its structures and parameters. To solve these problems, an intelligent path planning algorithm using the evolution strategy (ES) and the fuzzy logic controller (FLC) based on system modeling, is proposed. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, the path planning and following of an underwater robot is performed according to the maneuvering of a surface robot. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively solves the problems.

In this paper, quantum cryptography systems used in the design process inevitably open bit stream of pseudo-random number that exists multiple open channels between them and the need to share information on the part of the situation exposes a pair of bit stream. Recently, one of the most interesting issue in the intelligent robot and the industrial robot area is the design and an implementation of servo driver module based on motion network for hollow type joint module of all-in-one structure. A Study on Wind Speed Estimation and Maximum Power Point Tracking scheme for Wind Turbine System

As the wind has become one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources, the key issue of wind energy conversion systems is on how to efficiently operate the wind turbines in a wide range of wind speeds. In general, the wind speed is the main factor that impact on the dynamics of wind turbine system. Wind turbine algorithms are thus required to improve the performance of wind speed measurements. However, the accurate measurement of the effective wind speed using wind gauge and similar sensors is difficult such that control systems are needed for wind speed estimation using various techniques. Therefore, this research suggests the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) method for tracking the wind speed based on neural networks. Design experiments were carried out in laboratory environment to validate the application of the proposed method.

We introduce the notion of intuitionistic interval-valued fuzzy sets as the another generalization of interval-valued fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets and hence fuzzy sets. Development of Music Classification of Light and Shade using VCM and Beat Tracking

Recently, a music genre classification has been studied. However, experts use different criteria to classify each of these classifications is difficult to derive accurate results. In addition, when the emergence of a new genre of music genre is a newly re-defined. Music as a genre rather than to separate search should be classified as emotional words. In this paper, the feelings of people on the basis of brightness and darkness tries to categorize music. The proposed classification system by applying VCM(Variance Considered Machines) is the contrast of the music. In this paper, we are using three kinds of musical characteristics. Based on surveys made throughout the learning, based on musical attributes(beat, timbre, note) was used to study in the VCM. VCM is classified by the trained compared with the results of the survey were analyzed. Note extraction using the MATLAB, sampled at regular intervals to share music via the FFT frequency analysis by the sector average is defined as representing the element extracted note by quantifying the height of the entire distribution was identified. Cumulative frequency distribution in the entire frequency rage, using the difference in Timbre and were quantified. VCM applied to these three characteristics with the experimental results by comparing the survey results to see the contrast of the music with a probability of 95.4% confirmed that the two separate.
