Stereo Audio Matched with 3D Video

This paper presents subjective experimental results to understand how audio should be changed when a video clip is watched in 3D than 2D. This paper divided auditory perceptual information into two categories; distance and azimuth that a sound source contributes mostly, and spaciousness that scene or environment contribute mostly. According to the experiment for distance and azimuth, i.e. sound localization, we found that distance and azimuth of sound sources were magnified when heard with 3D than 2D video. This lead us to conclude 3D sound for localization should be designed to have more distance and azimuth than 2D sound. Also we found 3D sound are preferred to be played with not only 3D video clip but also 2D video clip. According to the experiment for spaciousness, we found people prefer sound with more reverberation when they watch 3D video clips than 2D video clips. This can be understood that 3D video provides more spacial information than 2D video. Those subjective experimental results can help audio engineer familiar with 2D audio to create 3D audio, and be fundamental information of future research to make 2D to 3D audio conversion system. Furthermore when designing 3D broadcasting system with limited bandwidth and with 2D TV supportive, we propose to consider transmitting stereoscopic video, audio with enhanced localization, and metadata for TV sets to generate reverberation for spaciousness.
Kinematic Analysis of a Legged Walking Robot Based on Four-bar Linkage and Jansen Mechanism

In this study, a crab robot is implemented in H/W based on four-bar linkage mechanism and Jansen mechanism, and its kinematics is analysed. A vision camera is attached to the mechanism, which makes the proposed robot a kind of biologically inspired robot for image acquisition. Three ultrasonic sensors are adopted for obstacle avoidance. In addition, the biologically inspired robot can achieve the mission appointed by a programmer outside, based on RF and Blue-tooth communication module. For the design and implementation of a crab robot, it is need to get joint variable, a foot point, and their relation. Thus, the proposed kinematic analysis is very important process for the design and implementation of legged robots.

It is expected that the cooperation between rule-based reasoning and case-based reasoning gives us an efficient approach for flexible reasoning. In this paper, we present an integrated model of rule-base reasoning and case-base reasoning using the MVL automata model. In addition, we introduce how to handle the uncertainty in the integrated model.
A New Statistical Sampling Method for Reducing Computing time of Machine Learning Algorithms

Accuracy and computing time are considerable issues in machine learning. In general, the computing time for data analysis is increased in proportion to the size of given data. So, we need a sampling approach to reduce the size of training data. But, the accuracy of constructed model is decreased by going down the data size simultaneously. To solve this problem, we propose a new statistical sampling method having similar performance to the total data. We suggest a rule to select optimal sampling techniques according to given data structure. This paper shows a sampling method for reducing computing time with keeping the most of accuracy using cluster sampling, stratified sampling, and systematic sampling. We verify improved performance of proposed method by accuracy and computing time between sample data and total data using objective machine learning data sets.
Improvement of Position Estimation Based on the Multisensor Fusion in Underwater Unmanned Vehicles

In this paper, we propose the position estimation algorithm based on the multisensor fusion using equalization of state variables and feedback structure. First, the state variables measured from INS of main sensor with large error and DVL of assistance sensor with small error are measured before prediction phase. Next, the equalized state variables are entered to each filter and fused the enhanced state variables for prediction and update phases. Finally, the fused state variables are returned to the main sensor for improving the position estimation of UUV. For evaluation, we create the moving course of UUV by simulation and confirm the performance of position estimation by applying the proposed algorithm. The evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm is the best for position estimation and also possible for robust position estimation at the change period of moving courses.
Highway Ramp Metering Technique for Solving Non-Recurrent Congestion according to Incident

Ramp metering has been used to solve recurrent or non-recurrent congestion on many highways. However, the existing ramp metering methods cannot control non-recurrent congestion like incident and don't have any methods to solve congestion after congestion. In addition, the methods cannot solve congestion quickly because ramp metering operates independently for each ramp. In this study, we developed SARAM which is ramp metering technique with shockwave theory in order to solve the problems. In simulation from Jangsoo IC to Joongdong IC, we confirmed that speed increased by 7.32km/h and delay time reduced by 39.14sec.
The Output Feedback Control of Inverted Pendulum Systems for The Verification of Practical Use of Linear State Observers

In this paper, the output feedback control of inverted pendulum systems is experimented for the practicality verification of the linear state observer. For the experiment, a pendulum system, CEM-IP-01 of Cemware Inc. is used and Lagrange equation and Jacobian linearization are adopted for the dynamic analysis of the pendulum system. In addition, the output responses of the state feedback control and the output feedback control of the pendulum system are compared before the experiment by Matlab. Finally, we directly verify the practical use of the linear state observer by recognizing and solving some real problem to control the inverted pendulum system in practice.
The Design of a Meaning Interpretation Model for Supporting Linguistic Navigation Safety Information

GPS, ARPA, AIS, NAVTEX, VHF as modern aids-to-navigation equipments improve the safe navigation and help to reach a reduction in marine accidents by providing images, numeric values, texts, audio-based information for mates, However, we also noticed that it's complicate and difficult for a mate to acquire and analyze such information from these devices while he should devote himself to bridge watchkeeping especially in the urgent situation. Language is another way to get information and free the eyes and hands, so, to solve the problem above, we are trying to propose a new aids-to-navigation system, which can understand and merge multimedia marine safety information, analyze the situation and provide the necessary information in language. In this paper, we try to suggest a meaning interpretation model for supporting linguistic navigation safety information.
Evolutionary Analysis for Continuous Search Space

In this paper, the evolutionary algorithm was specifically formulated for optimization with continuous parameter space. The proposal was motivated by the fact that the genetic algorithms have been most intensively reported for parameter identification problems with continuous search space. The difference of primary characteristics between genetic algorithms and the proposed algorithm, discrete or continuous individual representation has made different areas to which the algorithms should be applied. Results obtained by optimization of some well-known test functions indicate that the proposed algorithm is superior to genetic algorithms in all the performance, computation time and memory usage for continuous search space problems.
Development of Integrated Public Address System for Intelligent Building

In this paper, we developed an intelligent minimized integrated digital public address which can provide context awareness of various events occurring in future intelligent buildings. It is able to recognize both voices and sounds, such as a fire bell and a disaster bell, which signal to escape in emergence situations and it can sense information which is sent from various sensors, for example, the inner temperature, humidity, and environment status in an intelligent building. Also, the intelligent digital integrated public address can broadcast information to individual places, according to context awareness that is from sensing information, by using network with an ID. And we are developing a minimized integrated digital public address system that has facilities such as external input, Mic., CD, MP3 and Radio. Developing an integrated digital public address system with operational MICOM will make it possible to control the facilities of digital devices centrally. The operational MICOM is composed of 3 layers which are a control layer, a processing layer and a user interface layer.
Study of Music Classification Optimized Environment and Atmosphere for Intelligent Musical Fountain System

Various research studies are underway to explore music classification by genre. Because sound professionals define the criterion of music to categorize differently each other, those classification is not easy to come up clear result. When a new genre is appeared, there is onerousness to renew the criterion of music to categorize. Therefore, music is classified by emotional adjectives, not genre. We classified music by light and shade in precedent study. In this paper, we propose the music classification system that is based on emotional adjectives to suitable search for atmosphere, and the classification criteria is three kinds; light and shade in precedent study, intense and placid, and grandeur and trivial. Variance Considered Machines that is an improved algorithm for Support Vector Machine was used as classification algorithm, and it represented 85% classification accuracy with the result that we tried to classify 525 songs.
A Recommendation System using Context-based Collaborative Filtering

Collaborative filtering is used the most for recommendation systems because it can recommend potential items. However, when there are not many items to be evaluated, collaborative filtering can be subject to the influence of similarity or preference depending on the situation or the whim of the evaluator. In addition, by recommending items only on the basis of similarity with items that have been evaluated previously without relation to the present situation of the user, the recommendations become less accurate. In this paper, in order to solve the above problems, before starting the collaborative filtering procedure, we calculated similarity not by comparing all the values evaluated by users but rather by comparing only those users who were above the average in order to improve the accuracy of the recommendations. In addition, in the ceaselessly changing ubiquitous computing environment, it is not proper to recommend service information based only on the items evaluated by users. Therefore, we used methods of calculating similarity wherein the users' real time context information was used and a high weight was assigned to similar users. Such methods improved the recommendation accuracy by 16.2% on average.
A Study on the Automatic Adjustment of the Parabolic SAR by using the Fuzzy Logic

This paper proposes the possibility which the fuzzy theory can be used to improve the performance of the parabolic SAR(Stop-And-Reverse) indicator in the trading systems for stock market. The simulation results with data of the KOSPI 200 future show that the occurred number of trading signals and the false signals in the proposed fuzzy SAR indicator is less than that in the conventional SAR indicator. In the conventional SAR system, the incremental value of the acceleration factor is usually setted as 0.02 and the maximum value of the acceleration factor is usually limited as 0.2. But in the proposed fuzzy SAR system, the incremental value and the maximum value of the acceleration factor are automatically adjusted by using the fuzzy rules, which are designed based-on the difference between short-term moving average and medium-term moving average and also based-on the slope of short-term moving average.
Design and Development of a System for Mapping of Medical Standard Terminologies

Various standard terminologies in medical field are composed individually to different structure. Therefore, information on crosswalking between the terminologies is needed to combine and use the terminologies. Lots of mapping tools have been developed and used to create the information. However, since those tools deal with specific terminologies, the information is restrictly created. To overcome this problem, some tools have been developed, which perform mapping tasks by composing various terminologies. However, the tools also have difficulty of composing automatically the terminologies because the terminologies have different structures. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method for composing and using the terminologies in the developed mapping system with keeping the original structure of the terminologies. In the proposed method, additional terminologies could be added on the mapping system and used by making metadata involving information on location and structure of the terminologies. And the mapping system could cope flexibly with the changes of the structure or context of the terminologies. Moreover, various types of mapping information could be defined and created in the system because mapping data are constructed as triplets in ontology. Therefore, the mapping data can be transformed and distributed in different formats such as OWL, RDF, and Excel. Finally, we confirmed the usefulness of the mapping system based on the proposed method through the experiments about creating mapping data.

Detection and Recognition Method for Emergency and Non-emergency Speech by Gaussian Mixture Model

For the emergency detecting in general CCTV environment of our daily life, the monitoring by only images through CCTV information occurs some problems especially in cost as well as man power. Therefore, in this paper, for detecting emergency state dynamically through CCTV as well as resolving some problems, we propose a detection and recognition method for emergency and non-emergency speech by GMM. The proposed method determine whether input speech is emergency or non-emergency speech by global GMM. If emergeny speech, local GMM is performed to classify the type of emergency speech. The proposed method is tested and verified by emergency and non-emergency speeches in various environmental conditions.
IR Image Segmentation using GrabCut

This paper proposes a method for segmenting objects from the background in IR(Infrared) images based on GrabCut algorithm. The GrabCut algorithm needs the window encompassing the interesting known object. This procedure is processed by user. However, to apply it for object recognition problems in image sequences. the location of window should be determined automatically. For this, we adopted the Otsu' algorithm for segmenting the interesting but unknown objects in an image coarsely. After applying the Otsu' algorithm, the window is located automatically by blob analysis. The GrabCut algorithm needs the probability distributions of both the candidate object region and the background region surrounding closely the object for estimating the Gaussian mixture models(GMMs) of the object and the background. The probability distribution of the background is computed from the background window, which has the same number of pixels within the candidate object region. Experiments for various IR images show that the proposed method is proper to segment out the interesting object in IR image sequences. To evaluate performance of proposed segmentation method, we compare other segmentation methods.
Optimized Global Path Planning of a Mobile Robot Using uDEAS

This paper proposes two optimal path planning methods of a mobile robot using uDEAS (univariate Dynamic Encoding Algorithm for Searches). Before start of autonomous traveling, a self-controlled mobile robot must generate an optimal global path as soon as possible. To this end, numerical optimization method is applied to real time path generation of a mobile robot with an obstacle avoidance scheme and the basic path generation method based on the concept of knot and node points between start and goal points. The first improvement in the present work is to generate diagonal paths using three node points in the basic path. The second innovation is to make a smooth path plotted with the blending polynomial using uDEAS. Effectiveness of the proposed schemes are validated for several environments through simulation.
Mapping between CoreNet and SUMO through WordNet

CoreNet is a valuable resource to use in the domain of natural language processing including Korean-Chinese-Japanese multilingual text analysis, and translation among natural languages. CoreNet is mapped to SUMO in order to encourage its application in broader fields and enhance its international status as a multilingual lexical semantic network. To do this, indirect and direct mapping methodologies are used. Through the indirect mapping among CoreNet-KorLex-PWN-SUMO, we alleviate the difficulty of translating CoreNet concept terms in Korean into SUMO concepts in English, and maximize recall of SUMO concepts corresponding to the concept of CoreNet.
