Design of Simple-structured Fuzzy Logic System based Driving Controller for Mobile Robot

In this paper, we present an obstacle avoidance control algorithm for mobile robots based on SFLC (single-input fuzzy logic controller) with an efficient fuzzy logic look-up table to replace the traditional complicated operation. This method achieves better performance than traditional methods in terms of efficiency. The output of a SFLC leads the robot to the target automatically although many obstacles on the path. Our experiments show that the robot has good performance in the view of path tracking and other efficiency.
Coin Recognition and Classification Using Digital Image Processing

This paper develops the coin recognition and classification system using digital image processing technique. Coin images are taken by USB camera. The developed system can be used at home since it just needs USB camera and personal computers. For this development, some digital image prodessing technique is used; size recognition technique and color classification. Using Matlab, we design the graphic user interface and verify the reliability of the developed system with some simulation result.
A Study on Detecting Selfish Nodes in Wireless LAN using Tsallis-Entropy Analysis

IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol standard, DCF(CSMA/CA), is originally designed to ensure the fair channel access between mobile nodes sharing the local wireless channel. It has been, however, revealed that some misbehavior nodes transmit more data than other nodes through artificial means in hot spot area spreaded rapidly. The misbehavior nodes may modify the internal process of their MAC protocol or interrupt the MAC procedure of normal nodes to achieve more data transmission. This problem has been referred to as a selfish node problem and almost literatures has proposed methods of analyzing the MAC procedures of all mobile nodes to detect the selfish nodes. However, these kinds of protocol analysis methods is not effective at detecting all kinds of selfish nodes enough. This paper address this problem of detecting selfish node using Tsallis-Entropy which is a kind of statistical method. Tsallis-Entropy is a criteria which can show how much is the density or deviation of a probability distribution. The proposed algorithm which operates at a AP node of wireless LAN extracts the probability distribution of data interval time for each node, then compares the one with a threshold value to detect the selfish nodes. To evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm, simulation experiments are performed in various wireless LAN environments (congestion level, how selfish node behaviors, threshold level) using ns2. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves higher successful detection rate.
Design and Analysis of Ball Screw-driven Robotic Gripper

This paper presents a ball screw-driven robotic gripper mechanism which is possible to grasp an object and analyzes its kinematic feature for grasping by simulation. For the purpose of identifying the feature of the robot gripper, we try to confirm the kinematics relating the joint space of the driving actuator to the gripper`s tip space. To be specific, the proposed robot gripper employs one actuator and a symmetrical closed-chain structure. As a result, the specified robot gripper has an advantage of robustness to external forces structurally, and it is easy to implement simple grasping operations. Also the gripper has a useful squeezing effect for power grasping.
Control for Discrete-Time Fuzzy Markovian Jump Systems with State and Input Time Delays

This paper presents the method for
fuzzy controller design of discrete-time fuzzy Markovian jump systems with state and input time delays. The Takagi and Sugeno fuzzy model is employed to represent a delayed nonlinear system that possesses Markovian jump parameters. A stochastic mode dependent Lyapunov function is employed to analyze the stability and
disturbance attenuation performance of the fuzzy Markovian jump systems with state and input time delays. A sufficient condition for the existence of fuzzy
controller is given in terms of matrix inequalities. Also numerical example is presented to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed design method.
Torque Control of DC Motor Using Velocity Profile Based Acceleration/Deceleration Control

This paper presents torque control of DC motor using the velocity profile based acceleration/deceleration controller for automatic guided vehicles (AGVs). This technique has some advantage; to reduce the damage of motors and to extend the life time of motors. First, we generate velocity profiles for three cases and design the state feedback controller using the generated velocity profile as a reference. The state feedback controller has servo system for solving regulation problem. For the verification, we apply the proposed method to control a cart position and shows some simulation result.
Multi-level Mapping of Ontologies Based on Lexical and Structural Information

Since the Semantic Web emerged, ontology has been widely used in web environment. Even ontologies belong to the same domain, they may contain same meaning different words, or different meaning same words according to their development background and the type of utilization. In order to share and reuse the ontologies, ontology mapping is required. This paper presents a ontology mapping method that consists of the initial process of multi-level mapping based on lexical information, and the second mapping process using the lexical results and structural similarity. Mapping performance was improved by additionally expanding structural information of blank nodes, which have no lexical information. Through experiments, our method achieved 86.38% in F1-measure.
Fault Diagnosis and Tolerance for Asynchronous Counters with Critical Races Caused by Total Ionizing Dose in Space

Asynchronous counters, where the counter value is changed not by a synchronizing clock but by outer inputs, are used in various modern digital systems such as spaceborne electronics. In this paper, we propose a scheme of fault tolerance for asynchronous counters with critical races caused by total ionizing dose (TID) in space. As a typical design flaw of asynchronous digital circuits, critical races cause an asynchronous circuit to show non-deterministic behavior, i.e., the next stable state of a state transition is not a fixed value but may be any value of a state set. Using the corrective control scheme for asynchronous sequential machines, this paper provides an existence condition and design procedure for a state feedback controller that can invalidate the effect of critical races. We implement the proposed control system in VHDL code and conduct experiments to demonstrate that the proposed control system can overcome critical races.
Fuzzy Modeling and Stability Analysis of Wind Power System with Doubly-fed Induction Generator

This paper propose the robust stability algorithm for controlling a variable speed wind power system which based on doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). The control object in the wind power system enables the rotor to rotate without any physical contact by using magnetic force. Generally, the system dynamics of the wind power system has severe nonlinearity and uncertainty so that it is not easy to obtain the control objective. For solving these problems, we propose the fuzzy modelling and robust control algorithm for wind power system. The sufficient conditions for robust controller are obtained in terms of solutions to linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Simulation results for wind power system based on DFIG are demonstrated to visualize the feasibility of the proposed method.
Development of Mirror Neuron System-based BCI System using Steady-State Visually Evoked Potentials

Steady-State Visually Evoked Potentials (SSVEP) are natural response signal associated with the visual stimuli with specific frequency. By using SSVEP, occipital lobe region is electrically activated as frequency form equivalent to stimuli frequency with bandwidth from 3.5Hz to 75Hz. In this paper, we propose an experimental paradigm for analyzing EEGs based on the properties of SSVEP. At first, an experiment is performed to extract frequency feature of EEGs that is measured from the image-based visual stimuli associated with specific objective with affordance and object-related affordance is measured by using mirror neuron system based on the frequency feature. And then, linear discriminant analysis (LDA) method is applied to perform the online classification of the objective pattern associated with the EEG-based affordance data. By using the SSVEP measurement experiment, we propose a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) system for recognizing user`s inherent intentions. The existing SSVEP application system, such as speller, is able to classify the EEG pattern based on grid image patterns and their variations. However, our proposed SSVEP-based BCI system performs object pattern classification based on the matters with a variety of shapes in input images and has higher generality than existing system.
Dynamic Modeling of a Wheeled Inverted Pendulum for Inclined Road and Changing Its Center of Gravity

In this research equations of motion of a Wheeled Inverted Pendulum (WIP) which is running on the inclined road and changing its center of gravity. Difference between a conventional cart inverted pendulum and the WIP is also considered. The WIP has small planar size so that it has been used as a mobile platform for several applications which require slender frame in order to travel on the narrow road. The WIP has almost the same unstable properties as conventional inverted pendulums have. There needs an aggressive control scheme for the WIP not to fall down. In order to design a high performance control scheme, equations of motion of the WIP, which is running under various environment and operating conditions, should be derived and considering its properties is necessary.

Abnormal navigating ships affact the ships navigating normal routes seriously. So VTS centers and Korean Coast Guard co-work(cooperate) closely to trace the ships which break the regulations and make accidents. But it is evident that there is limitations to indetify the risk factors caused by men. Unfortunately there is very few of the researches on the identificaton of risk elements by men. This paper is to implement the intelligent system for identifying abnormal navigating ships by using fuzzy inference.
Design of Pattern Classification Rule based on Local Linear Discriminant Analysis Classifier by using Differential Evolutionary Algorithm

In this paper, we proposed a new design methodology of a pattern classification rule based on the local linear discriminant analysis expanded from the generic linear discriminant analysis which is used in the local area divided from the whole input space. There are two ways such as k-Means clustering method and the differential evolutionary algorithm to partition the whole input space into the several local areas. K-Means clustering method is the one of the unsupervised clustering methods and the differential evolutionary algorithm is the one of the optimization algorithms. In addition, the experimental application covers a comparative analysis including several previously commonly encountered methods.
Development of Real-Time TCP/COF Inspection System using Differential Image

In this paper, we proposed a faulty pattern detection algorithm of TCP(Tape Carrier Package)/COF(Chip On Film), and implemented a real-time system for inspecting TCP/COF. Since TCP/COF has very high resolution having several micro meters, the human operator should visually inspect all the parts through microscope. In this work, we implement an inspection system to detect the faulty pattern, so the operator can visually inspect only the designated parts by the inspection system through the monitor. The proposed defects detection algorithm for TCP/COF packages is implemented by the pattern matching method based on subtracting the reference image from test image. To evaluate performance of the proposal system. we made various experiments according to type of CCD camera and light source as well as illumination projection method. From experimental results, it is confirmed that the proposed system makes it possible to detect effectively the defective TCP/COF film.
Effective Decentralized Sampled-Data Control for Nonlinear Systems in T-S` Form: Overlapping IDR Approach

This paper discusses a decentralized sampled-data control problem for large-scale nonlinear systems. The system is represented in Takagi-Sugeno`s form. Next, we design a decentralized analog controller based on the overlapping decomposition technique. The final step is to apply the intelligent digital redesign scheme for converting the analog controller into the sampled-data one. Design condition is represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A simulation result is provided for the effectiveness of the proposed design method.
Face Disguise Detection System Based on Template Matching and Nose Detection

Recently the need for advanced security technologies are increasing as the occurrence of intelligent crime is growing fastly. Previous methods for face disguise detection are required for the improvement of accuracy in order to be put to practical use. In this paper, we propose a new disguise detection method using the template matching and Adaboost algorithm. The proposed system detects eyes based on multi-scale Gabor feature vector in the first stage, and uses template matching technique in oreder to increase the detection accuracy in the second stage. The template matching plays a role in determining whether or not the person of the captured image has sunglasses on. Adaboost algorithm is used to determine whether or not the person of the captured image wears a mask. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is superior to the previous methods in the detection accuracy of disguise faces.
Partial Path Selection Method in Each Subregion for Routing Path Optimization in SEF Based Sensor Networks

Routing paths are mightily important for the network security in WSNs. To maintain such routing paths, sustained path re-selection and path management are needed. Region segmentation based path selection method (RSPSM) provides a path selection method that a sensor network is divided into several subregions, so that the regional path selection and path management are available. Therefore, RSPSM can reduce energy consumption when the path re-selection process is executed. However, it is hard to guarantee optimized secure routing path at all times since the information using the path re-selection process is limited in scope. In this paper, we propose partial path selection method in each subregion using preselected partial paths made by RSPSM for routing path optimization in SEF based sensor networks. In the proposed method, the base station collects the information of the all partial paths from every subregion and then, evaluates all the candidates that can be the optimized routing path for each node using a evaluation function. After the evaluation process is done, the result is sent to each super DN using the global routing path information (GPI) message. Thus, each super DN provides the optimized secure routing paths using the GPI. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method via the simulation results. We expect that our method can be useful for the improvement of RSPSM.
Fuzzy Structure Analysis for Factors of Project Performance

The structure of layer for success factors of company project can be known by FSM which is available to recognize structure of the system. However, the relationship between the layers which belongs to the success factors of company projects can be unknown. From these viewpoints, this study is to analyze the structure of the relation between the layers contained the success factors of company projects using fuzzy system. Therefore, the relationship between lower vs middle layer and middle vs upper layer are obtained by evaluation model of company projects which has possibility and necessity of fuzzy system as fuzzy relation matrix. Using these results, fuzzy relation analysis is done and showed the usefulness.
Development of a Fuzzy Control Based Chainless PAS Bicycle

This paper proposes a model for a chainless power assistor system(PAS) that can provide the required power based upon operational status by designing a chainless electric bicycle that can be substituted for a general chain type bicycle and which is also an environmentally friendly means of transportation. This paper designed a fuzzy control algorithm that can intelligently examine operational status through the stopping force sensor of a chainless intelligently auxiliary power system it and also have the power of an auxiliary power system to be controlled by the vehicle`s operational status. This paper designed an intelligent electric bicycle that provides auxiliary power to a general bicycle system relying only upon the stepping force of a human and systems to provide auxiliary power to the intelligent chainless bicycle model designing presented.
Intuitionistic Interval-Valued Fuzzy Topological Spaces

By using the concept of intuitionistic interval-valued fuzzy sets, we introduce the notion of intuitionistic interval-valued fuzzy topology. And we study some fundamental properties of intuitionistic interval-valued fuzzy topological spaces: First, we obtain analogues[see Theorem 3.11 and 3.12] of neighborhood systems in ordinary topological spaces. Second, we obtain the result[see Theorem 4.9] corresponding to "the 14-set Theorem" in ordinary topological spaces. Finally, we give the initial structure on intuitionistic interval-valued fuzzy topologies[see Theorem 5.9].
