The Implementation of the Intelligent Exoskeleton Robot Arm Using ElectroMiogram(EMG) vital Signal

The purpose of this study is to estimate a validity of control signal through a design of Exoskeleton Robot Arm's capable of intelligent recognition as a human arm's motion by using realtime processed data of generated EMG signals. By an intelligent algorithm, the EMG output value of human biceps and triceps muscles contraction can be recognized and used for the control over exoskeleton arm corresponding to human's recognition and judgement. The EMG sensing data of muscles contraction and relaxation are used as the input signal from human's body to operate the Exoskeleton Robot Arm thus copying human arm motion. An intelligent control of Exoskeleton Robot Arm is to design the analog control circuit which processes the input data, and then to manufacture an integrated control board. And then abstracted signal is passed by DSP signal processing, Fuzzy logic algorithm is designed for a accurate prediction of weight or load through the intelligent algorithm, and design an Exoskeleton Robot Arm to express a human's intention.
A Study of population Initialization Method to improve a Genetic Algorithm on the Weapon Target Allocation problem

The Weapon Target Allocation(WTA) problem is the NP-Complete problem. The WTA problem is that the threatful air targets are assigned by weapon of allies for killing the targets. A good solution of NP-complete problem is heuristic algorithms. Genetic algorithms are commonly used heuristic for global optimization, and it is good solution on the diverse problem domain. But there has been very little research done on the generation of their initial population. The initialization of population is one of the GA step, and it decide to initial value of individuals. In this paper, we propose to the population initialization method to improve a Genetic Algorithm. When it initializes population, the proposed algorithm reflects the characteristics of the WTA problem domain, and inherits the dominant gene. In addition, the search space widely spread in the problem space to find efficiently the good quality solution. In this paper, the proposed algorithm to verify performance examine that an analysis of various properties and the experimental results by analyzing the performance compare to other algorithms. The proposed algorithm compared to the other initialization methods and a general genetic algorithm. As a result, the proposed algorithm showed better performance in WTA problem than the other algorithms. In particular, the proposed algorithm is a good way to apply to the variety of situation WTA problem domain, because the proposed algorithm can be applied flexibly to WTA problem by the adjustment of RMI.
Optimal Fuzzy Filter for Nonlinear Systems with Variance Constraints

In this paper, we consider the optimal fuzzy filter of nonlinear discrete-time with estimation error variance constraint. First, the Takagi and Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model is employed to approximate the nonlinear system. Next, the error state is mean square bounded, and the steady state variance of the estimation error of each state is not more than the individual predefined value. It is shown that, the addressed problem can be carried out by solving linear matrix inequality(LMI) and some algebraic quadratic matrix inequalities. Finally, some examples are provided to illustrate the design procedure and expected performance through simulations.
An Improvement of Recognition Performance Based on Nonlinear Equalization and Statistical Correlation

This paper presents a hybrid method for improving the recognition performance, which is based on the nonlinear histogram equalization, features extraction, and statistical correlation of images. The nonlinear histogram equalization based on a logistic function is applied to adaptively improve the quality by adjusting the brightness of the image according to its intensity level frequency. The statistical correlation that is measured by the normalized cross-correlation(NCC) coefficient, is applied to rapidly and accurately express the similarity between the images. The local features based on independent component analysis(ICA) that is used to calculate the NCC, is also applied to statistically measure the correct similarity in each images. The proposed method has been applied to the problem for recognizing the 30-face images of 40*50 pixels. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a superior recognition performances to the method without performing the preprocessing, or the methods of conventional and adaptively modified histogram equalization, respectively.
Empirical Sentiment Classification Using Psychological Emotions and Social Web Data

The studies of opinion mining or sentiment analysis have been the focus with social web proliferation. Sentiment analysis requires sentiment resources to decide its polarity. In the existing sentiment analysis, they have been built resources designed with intensity of sentiment polarity and decided polarity of opinion using the ones. In this paper, I will present sentiment categories for not only polarity of opinion but also the basis of positive/negative opinion. I will define psychological emotions to primary sentiments for the reasonable classification. And I will extract the informations of sentiment from social web texts for the actual distribution of sentiments in social web. Re-classifying primary sentiments based on extracted sentiment information, I will organize sentiment categories for the social web. In this paper, I will present 23 categories of sentiment by using proposed method.
Development of a Moving Platform for a Upright Running Mobile Robot Based on an Inverted Pendulum Mechanism

In this research a moving platform for a mobile robot which can run with upright posture is proposed. It is able to stand with standing arms and run uprightly based on an inverted pendulum mechanism. Conventional mobile robots generally may equip 4 wheels or 3 wheels including a caster and have good statistic stability. They need a steering mechanism to choose which way to go since they have a square or rectangular configuration with multiple wheels. When a mobile robot meets a sharply perpendicular and narrow crossroad, it may need a special steering scheme such as going forward and backward repeatedly or it sometimes cannot even pass through the crossroad because of its size. The proposed moving platform for a mobile robot changes to a upright posture which has a small planar area and is able to pass through the crossroad. We propose a moving platform for a mobile robot with a inverted pendulum mechanism and standing arms which can make the mobile robot upright.
Channel Allocation Using Mobile Station Network in Reproduction Stage

If the mobile station requests the channel allocation in mobile networks, switching center is assigned a channel to mobile station that belong to each base station. Channel allocation schemes is a fixed channel allocation, dynamic channel allocation and a hybrid approach that combines the two forms. To assign a frequency well to use resources efficiently to provide quality service to our customers. In this paper, we proposed method to assign frequencies to minimize interference between channels and to minimizes the number of searching time. The proposed method by the genetic algorithm to improve accuracy and efficiency of the verification steps and reproduction stages were used. In addition, the proposed method by comparing with other methods showed that proposed method is better through the simulations.

This paper proposes SERO note system which supports collaborative learning between teachers and learners by using the learner's internal and external environment information. The proposed system defines the learner's internal environment depending on desire for relearning assessment questions, and the learner's external environment depending on a percentage of correct answers. The purpose of educational evaluation through SERO typing of each question is reflected in collaborative learning between teachers and learners. As the results of SERO typing of each question are accumulated on DB and used, a variety of feedback chances can be offered to teachers and learners.
Manual and Automatic Steering System Using Pulley and Electrical Clutch for Manned and Unmanned Electric Vehicle

In this paper, a manual and automatic steering system for electric vehicles capable of manned and unmanned driving is proposed. The automatic steering systems, EPS, MDPS, used in conventional engine based car includes the problem of handle lock phenomenon while driving of overloading, therefore it has a drawback to apply to manned and unmanned electric vehicles. By using electronic clutch and pulleys, the proposed manual and automatic steering mechanism was designed so that it is possible to convert from manual to automatic steering mode. To experiment the performance of the proposed steering system, we made an experimental setup of an electric vehicle. We confirmed that the proposed manual and automatic steering system was useful for manned and unmanned electric vehicles.
Study on Artificial Neural Network Based Fault Detection Schemes for Wind Turbine System

Wind energy is currently the fastest growing source of renewable energy used for electrical generation around world. Wind farms are adding a significant amount of electrical generation capacity. The increase in the number of wind farms has led to the need for more effective operation and maintenance procedures. Condition Monitoring System(CMS) can be used to aid plant owners in achieving these goals. Its aim is to provide operators with information regarding the health of their machines, which in turn, can help them improve operational efficiency. In this work, systematic design procedure for artificial neural network based normal behavior model which can be applied for fault detection of various devices is proposed. Furthermore, to verify the design method SCADA(Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition) data from 850KW wind turbine system installed in Beaung port were utilized.
Object Detection Method in Sea Environment Using Fast Region Merge Algorithm

In this paper, we present a method to detect an object such as ship, rock and buoy from sea IR image for the safety navigation. To this end, we do the image smoothing first and the apply watershed algorithm to segment image into subregions. Since watershed algorithm almost always produces over-segmented regions, it requires posterior merging process to get meaningful segmented regions. We propose an efficient merger algorithm that requires only two times of direct access to the pixels regardless of the number of regions. Also by analyzing IR image obtained from sea environments, we could find out that most horizontal edge come out from object regions. For the given input IR image we extract horizontal edge and eliminate isolated edges produced from background and noises by adopting morphological operator. Among the segmented regions, the regions that have horizontal edges are extracted as final results. Experimental results show the adequacy of the proposed method.
Gait Generation Method for a Quadruped Robot with a Waist Joint to Walk on the Slope

In this paper, we propose a gait generation method for a quadruped robot to walk efficiently on the slope, which uses the waist joint of a quadruped robot. We derive the kinematic model of a quadruped robot with waist joint using the Denavit-Hartenberg representation method and the algebraic method. In addition, the gaits are generated based on the wave gait. In the proposed gait generation method, first in order to alleviate the mechanical restriction and the reduction of the stride, we determine the appropriate waist joint angle according to the slope degree, and then decide the location of the tiptoe of a quadruped robot by exploring the workspace. Finally, through computer simulations, we verify the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method.
A Prediction Method of Learning Outcomes based on Regression Model for Effective Peer Review Learning

The peer review learning is a method which improves learning outcome of students through feedback between students and the observation and analysis of other students. One of the important problems in a peer review system is to find proper evaluators to each learner considering characteristics of students for improving learning outcomes. Some of peer review systems randomly assign peer review evaluators to learners, or chose evaluators based on limited strategies. However, these systems have a problem that they do not consider various characteristics of learners and evaluators who participate in peer reviews. In this paper, we propose a novel prediction approach of learning outcomes to apply peer review systems considering various characteristics of learners and evaluators. The proposed approach extracts representative attributes from the profiles of students and predicts learning outcomes using various regression models. In order to verify how much outliers affect on the prediction of learning outcomes, we also apply several outlier removal methods to the regression models and compare the predictive performance of learning outcomes. The experiment result says that the SVR model which does not removes outliers shows an error rate of 0.47% on average and has the best predictive performance.
Generation of Motor Velocity Profile for Walking-Assistance System Using Humanoid Robot Model

This work proposes a new method to generate velocity profile of a traction motor equipped in a rehabilitation system for knee joint patients through humanoid robot simulation. To this end, a three-dimensional full-body humanoid robot model is newly constructed, and natural human gait is simulated by applying to it reference joint angle trajectories already published. Linear velocity is derived from distance data calculated between the positions of a thigh band and its traction motor at every sampling instance, which is a novel idea of this paper. The projection rule is employed to kinematically describe the humanoid robot because of its high efficiency and accuracy, and measured joint trajectories are used in simulating human natural gait referring to Winter's book. The attained motor velocity profile for a certain position in human body will be applied to our walking-assistance system which is implemented with a treadmill system.
Recognition of Natural Hand Gesture by Using HMM

In this paper, we propose a method that gives motion command to a mobile robot to recognize human being's hand gesture. Former way of the robot-controlling system with the movement of hand used several kinds of pre-arranged gesture, therefore the ordering motion was unnatural. Also it forced people to study the pre-arranged gesture, making it more inconvenient. To solve this problem, there are many researches going on trying to figure out another way to make the machine to recognize the movement of the hand. In this paper, we used third-dimensional camera to obtain the color and depth data, which can be used to search the human hand and recognize its movement based on it. We used HMM method to make the proposed system to perceive the movement, then the observed data transfers to the robot making it to move at the direction where we want it to be.
Interval-Valued Fuzzy Cosets

First, we prove a number of results about interval-valued fuzzy groups involving the notions of interval-valued fuzzy cosets and interval-valued fuzzy normal subgroups which are analogs of important results from group theory. Also, we introduce analogs of some group-theoretic concepts such as characteristic subgroup, normalizer and abelian groups. Secondly, we prove that if A is an interval-valued fuzzy subgroup of a group G such that the index of A is the smallest prime dividing the order of G, then A is an interval-valued fuzzy normal subgroup. Finally, we show that there is a one-to-one correspondence the interval-valued fuzzy cosets of an interval-valued fuzzy subgroup A of a group G and the cosets of a certain subgroup H of G.
Document Summarization Using Mutual Recommendation with LSA and Sense Analysis

In this paper, we describe a new summarizing method based on a graph-based and a sense-based analysis. In the graph-based analysis, we convert sentences in a document into word vectors and calculate the similarity between each sentence using LSA. We reflect this similarity of sentences and the rarity scores of words in sentences to define weights of edges in the graph. Meanwhile, in the sense-based analysis, in order to determine the sense of words, subjectivity or objectivity, we built a database which is extended from the golden standards using Wordnet. We calculate the subjectivity of sentences from the sense of words, and select more subjective sentences. Lastly, we combine the results of these two methods. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method using classification games, which are usually used to measure the performances of summarization methods. We compare our method with the MS-Word auto-summarization, and verify the effectiveness of ours.
Generalized Sidelobe Canceler for TPMS Interference Cancellation

A TPMS(Tire Pressure Monitoring System) is a wireless communication system designed to monitor the pressure and temperature of pneumatic tires of a vehicle. In order to provide the aid in protecting a driver, this system reports tire pressure information to the driver of the vehicle. Since the wireless communication technique should be employed to transmit the TPMS data from each tire to signal processing unit in the vehicle, it suffers from interference signals from external electrical or electronics equipments. In this paper, we propose the TPMS interference cancellation technique based on GSC(Generalized Sidelobe Canceler), which does not have only the excellent performance like MVDR(Minimum-Variance-Distortionless-Response) but also has the low computational complexity comparing with MVDR. The performance of interference suppression is conformed by computer simulation examples.
Study of iPhone Interface for Remote Robot Control Based on WiFi Communication

This study presents the remote control of a mobile robot using iPhone based on Wi-Fi communication. The paper proposes the following set of user interfaces : acceleration mode, arrow touch mode, and jog-shuttle mode. To evaluate the proposed three interfaces, a virtual robot is controlled in a monitor to follow a referenced trajectory using iPhone. In simulation, the standard deviation and summed errors are analysed for showing good and weak points of the proposed three interfaces. The proposed interface replace an additional remote controller requiring cost with a cellular phone. Results of an experiment show that the proposed interfaces can be effectively used for remote robot control.
