Design of Cruise Control System using Piece-wised Control for Electric Vehicle

In this paper, a design scheme of a cruise control system for an electric vehicle using piece-wised PD control is proposed. Cruise control of electric vehicles is one of the major performance elements. Drive motors having linear characteristics ideally is required in order to achieve the cruise driving. But practical motors have nonlinear characteristics and the performance of the motors can be improved by the closed-loop control to compensate it. In this paper, we improved the performance of by applying piece-wised PD control because the driving motors having nonlinear characteristics are difficult to obtain adequate performance only using closed-loop control. In order to test the proposed method, the experiments were carried out by applying the proposed method after setting up an electric vehicle equiped with a driving motors having large nonlinear characteristics. The experiment results of the proposed piece-wised PD control shows better performance than that of closed-loop control.
Flip Chip Bump 3D Inspection Equipment using White Light Interferometer with Large F.O.V.

In this paper, in-line type flip chip bump 3D inspection equipment, using white light interferometer with large F.O.V., which is aimed to be used in flip chip bump test process is developed. Results of flip chip bump height measurement in many substrates and repeatability test results for the bumps in fixed location of each substrate are shown. Test results from test bench and those from developed flip chip bump 3D inspection equipment are compared and as a result repeatability is improved by reducing the impact of system vibration. A valuation basis for the testing quality of flip chip bump 3D inspection equipment is proposed.
Unusual Waveform Detection Algorithm in Arrhythmia ECG Signal

In this paper, unusual waveform detection algorithm based on Refractory Period in arrhythmia ECG signal is proposed. Most of arrhythmia ECG signals consist of unusual waveforms with average 10% rate. Thus tremendous benefit can be obtained in terms of time and cost by providing unusual waveform samples reduced more than 90% to medical staffs who have to monitor and analyze for a long time. The proposed algorithm detects the R-peak using the features of R wave and variable refractory period. For the detected R-peak, unusual waveforms are found using means and standard deviation of electric potential and kurtosis of the R-peaks which are not included in unusual waveform. The proposed algorithm was applied to all records of the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database and showed more than average 90% of compression ratio.
Development of CAN(Controller Area Network) based Platform Model for Service Robots

The robot has been widely applied to all parts for the improvement of the life quality of human beings. It is expected that the parts industry for robots is rapidly growing to one of the majority of the future robot industry. The electronic components of robots are connected to the central processing unit and an organic part of a robot system. The central processing unit must be controlled to operate more efficiently by configuring some control systems of the robot. In this paper, we propose a new platform model that centralizes several parts of a robot through the CAN based communication system and simplifies their connection structure.
Intelligent Range Decision Method for Figure of Merit of Sonar Equation

This paper proposes a intelligent approach on range decision of figure of merit. Unknown range of the underwater target and the non-fixed signal excess make the uncertainty for the tracking process. Using the input data of signal excess related to the range, we establish the rule of the fuzzy set and the original data acquired by sonar can be transformed to the fuzzified data set. To reduce the error arisen from the unexpected data, we use the new data transformed in fuzzy set. The piecewise relations of the min value, max one, and the mean one are calculated. The three values are used for the expected range of the underwater target. By analysing the fluctuation of the data, we can expect the target's position and the characteristics of the maneuvering. The examples are presented to show the performance and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Multimodal Biometric Recognition System using Real Fuzzy Vault

Biometric techniques have been widely used for various areas including criminal identification due to their reliability. However, they have some drawbacks when the biometric information is divulged to illegal users. This paper proposed multimodal biometric system using a real fuzzy vault by RN-ECC for protecting fingerprint and face template. This proposed method has some advantages to regenerate a key value compared with face or fingerprint based verification system having non-regenerative nature and to implement advanced biometric verification system by fusion of both fingerprint and face recognition. From the various experiments, we found that the proposed method shows high recognition rates comparing with the conventional methods.
A Comparative Study on Using SentiWordNet for English Twitter Sentiment Analysis

Twitter sentiment analysis is to classify a tweet (message) into positive and negative sentiment class. This study deals with SentiWordNet(SWN)-based twitter sentiment analysis. SWN is a sentiment dictionary in which each sense of an English word has a positive and negative sentimental strength. There has been a variety of SWN-based sentiment feature extraction methods which typically first determine the sentiment orientation (SO) of a term in a document and then decide SO of the document from such terms' SO values. For example, for SO of a term, some calculated the maximum or average of sentiment scores of its senses, and others computed the average of the difference of positive and negative sentiment scores. For SO of a document, many researchers employ the maximum or average of terms' SO values. In addition, the above procedure may be applied to the whole set (adjective, adverb, noun, and verb) of parts-of-speech or its subset. This work provides a comparative study on SWN-based sentiment feature extraction schemes with performance evaluation on a well-known twitter dataset.
A Framework for WordNet-based Word Sense Disambiguation

This paper a framework and method for resolving word sense disambiguation and present the results. In this work, WordNet is used for two different purposes: one as a dictionary and the other as an ontology, containing the hierarchical structure, representing hypernym-hyponym relations. The advantage of this approach is twofold. First, it provides a very simple method that is easily implemented. Second, we do not suffer from the lack of large corpus data which would have been necessary in a statistical method. In the future this can be extended to incorporate other relations, such as synonyms, meronyms, and antonyms.
Programming Toolkit for Localization and Simulation of a Mobile Robot

This paper reports a programming toolkit for implementing localization and navigation of a mobile robot both in real world and simulation. Many of the previous function libraries are difficult to use because of their complexity or lack of usability. The proposed toolkit consist of functions for dead reckoning, motion model, measurement model, and operations on directions or heading angles. The dead reckoning and motion model deals with differential drive robot and bicycle type robot driven by front wheel or rear wheel. The functions can be used for navigation in both real environment and simulation. To prove the feasibility of the toolkit, simulation results are shown along with the results in real environment. It is expected the proposed toolkit is used for test of algorithms for mobile robot navigation such as localization, map building, and obstacle avoidance.
Study on Wireless Control of a Board Robot Using a Sensing Glove

This study presents the remote control of a board robot using a Sensing glove based on Bluetooth communication. The board robot is a kind of riding robot controlled by an user. The user wears the proposed remote glove controller, and changes a direction of the robot by different kinds of finger actions. Bluetooth is used for wireless communication between the board robot and its user. CdS cell Sensors and a LED in the glove are used for recognition of a number of finger actions, which are measured as analog signals. The finger actions have five commands ('1'right '2'neutrality '3'left '4'operation '5'stop), which are transmitted from the user to the board robot through Bluetooth communication. Experimental results show that proposed a Sensing glove can effectively control the board robot.
Investigations on Dynamic Trading Strategy Utilizing Stochastic Optimal Control and Machine Learning

Recently, control theory including stochastic optimal control and various machine-learning-based artificial intelligence methods have become major tools in the field of financial engineering. In this paper, we briefly review some recent papers utilizing stochastic optimal control theory in the fields of the pair trading for mean-reverting markets and the trend-following strategy, and consider a couple of strategies utilizing both stochastic optimal control theory and machine learning methods to acquire more flexible and accessible tools. Illustrative simulations show that the considered strategies can yield encouraging results when applied to a set of real financial market data.
Implementation of Unsupervised Nonlinear Classifier with Binary Harmony Search Algorithm

In this paper, we suggested the method for implementation of unsupervised nonlinear classification using Binary Harmony Search (BHS) algorithm, which is known as a optimization algorithm. Various algorithms have been suggested for classification of feature vectors from the process of machine learning for pattern recognition or EEG signal analysis processing. Supervised learning based support vector machine or fuzzy c-mean (FCM) based on unsupervised learning have been used for classification in the field. However, conventional methods were hard to apply nonlinear dataset classification or required prior information for supervised learning. We solved this problems with proposed classification method using heuristic approach which took the minimal Euclidean distance between vectors, then we assumed them as same class and the others were another class. For the comparison, we used FCM, self-organizing map (SOM) based on artificial neural network (ANN). KEEL machine learning datset was used for simulation. We concluded that proposed method was superior than other algorithms.
Generation of Walking Trajectory of Humanoid Robot using CPG

The paper introduces dynamic generation technique of foot trajectories using CPG(Central Pattern Generator). In this approach, the generated foot trajectories can be changeable according to variable outputs of CPG in various environments, because they are given as mapping functions of the output signals of the CPG oscillators. It enables to provide an adaptable foot trajectory for environmental change. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, experiments on humanoid robot Nao is executed in the Webot simulation. The performance and motion features of CPG based approach is analyzed.
Fuzzy Theil regression Model

Regression Analysis is an analyzing method of regression model to explain the statistical relationship between explanatory variable and response variables. This paper introduce Theil's method to find a fuzzy regression model which explain the relationship between explanatory variable and response variables. Theil's method is a robust method which is not sensive to outliers. Theil's method use medians of rate of increment based on randomly chosen pairs of each components of
-level sets of fuzzy data in order to estimate the coefficients of fuzzy regression model. We propose an example to show Theil's estimator is robust than the Least squares estimator.
An Improved Automatic Music Transcription Method Using TV-Filter and Optimal Note Combination

This paper proposes three methods for improving the accuracy of auto-music transcription considering with time-varying tempo from monophonic sound. The first one that uses TV(Total Variation) filter for smoothing the pitch data reduces the fragmentation in the pitch segmentation result. Also, the measure finding method that combines three different ways based on pitch and energy of sound data, respectively as well as based on rules produces more stable result. In addition the temporal result of note-length encoding is corrected in optimal way that the resulted encoding minimizes the sum of quantization error in a measure while the sum of note-lengths is equal to the number of beats. In the experiment with 16 children songs, we obtained the improved result in which measure finding was complete, the accuracy of encoding for note-length and pitch was about 91.3 and 86.7, respectively.
