Transparent Obstacle Detection Method based on Laser Range Finder

Using only laser range finder to detect the obstacles in an environment that contains transparent obstacles can not guarantee autonomous mobile robot from collision problem. To solve this problem, a mobile robot using laser range finder must be used additional sensor device such as sonar sensor that can detect the transparent obstacle. In this paper, a method is addressed to deal with the problem to detect the transparent obstacles within environment only by using laser range finder for mobile robot. In case the recognized transparent obstacle, the proposed algorithm is to localize the transparent obstacle to extract and process the reflected noise. This algorithm ensures autonomous of mobile robot only using laser range finder. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by the real mobile robot and real laser range finder experiments with three case studies.
A minimal pair searching tool based on dictionary

The minimal pairs mean the pairs that have same phonotactics except just one sound in the sequences cause different lexical items. This paper proposes the searching tool of minimal pairs for efficiency of phonological researches with minimal pairs. We suggest a guide to develop Korean minimal pair searching programs by comparing to other programs. Proposing tool has user-friendly interface, minimizing key inputs, for linguistics who are not fluent in computer programs. And it serves the function which classifies the words in dictionary for the detailed researches. And for efficiency, it increases speed of dictionary loading by separating syllables through Unicode analysis, and optimizes dictionary structure for searching efficiency. The searching algorithm gains in speed by hashing algorithm using syllable counts. In our tool, the speed is improved more than earlier version about 5 times at converting dictionary and about 3 times at searching.
Magnetic Guidance Vehicle using Up-and-down Rotating Type Differential Drive Unit

This paper presents the study about MGV(Magnetic guidance vehicle) with up-and-down rotating type differential drive unit. Previous MGV needs the landmarks to get the driving information and additional sensor to recognize the landmarks except for localization sensor. Previous MGV requires at least 2 drive units when common fixed differential drive unit is used because it occurs the problems with driving control and localization error from imbalance of the MGV's weight. To solve such problems, we propose the MGV using up-and-down rotating type differential drive unit. Proposed MGV recognizes the driving information from the pattern which is consisted of both pole of magnet without landmarks and additional sensors, and it control the backward movement using up-and-down rotating type differential drive unit instead of common drive units. Proposed MGV considers KF(Kalman filter) to improve the localization accuracy. To verify the performance of proposed method, we designed MGV for the experiment. As the results, we can confirm the performance of propoesed method to recognize the pattern and to control the backward movement. With respect to localization, proposed method has the less RMSE about 5.6904 mm than previous method.
A Study on the Design of Logistics Transportation System using Magnetic Levitation

In the paper, we propose a design method for the logistics transportation system using magnetic levitation that has a good characteristics without mechanical friction, noise and dust. The proposed transportation system consists of a levitation control system and a propulsion control system. Magnetic levitation system is an electromagnetic suspension system in which electromagnet generates magnetic attractive force and the attractive force pulls the rail. We design a PID controller for the current control of electromagnets. We use linear induction motors for propulsion of the proposed logistics transportation system and adapt the space vector PWM method for the propulsion control system. The proposed transportation system using magnetic levitation is verified performances through levitation and propulsion experiments.
Multi-touch Recognition and Tracking for Self Capacitive TSP

This paper introduces a multi-touch recognition and tracking method for self capacitive TSP(Touch Screen Pannel). Self capacitive TSP recognizes finger touches by sensing capacitive change of ITO transparent conducting film arranged by rows and columns on the TSP pannel. They have some advantages such as high SNR, fast sensing, and simple touch processing, but have very difficulties for multi-touch processing. This disadvantage makes that the mutual capacitive TSPs, which have no such disadvantage, have been more widely used especially for multi-touch applications. However, since the other applications for remote control pad or recently developed wearable devises have only restrictive requirements for multi-touch, the disadvantage of self capacitive TSP is not a critical problem. In this paper, we first describe multi-touch recognition problems in self capacitive TSP and then propose how to overcome those problems and a tracking method of two touches when they are moving. Experimental results of our method showed that our algorithm works well in two touches.
Generation of Daily Load Curves for Performance Improvement of Power System Peak-Shaving

This paper suggests a way of generating one-day load curves for performance improvement of peak shaving in a power system. This Peak Shaving algorithm is a long-term scheduling algorithm of PMS (Power Management System) for BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). The main purpose of a PMS is to manage the input and output power from battery modules placed in a power system. Generally, when a Peak Shaving algorithm is used, a difference occurs between predict load curves and real load curves. This paper suggests a way of minimizing the difference by making predict load curves that consider weekly normalization and seasonal load characteristics for smooth energy charging and discharging.
Intelligent Controller for Constant Control of Residual Chlorine in Water Treatment Process

In this study, chlorine modeling technique based on fuzzy system is proposed to reduce the carcinogenic substance and decide the optimal chlorine injection rate, which is affected by chlorine evaporation rate in sedimentation basin according to detention time, weather and water quality. The additional chlorine meter is installed in the inlet part of sedimentation to reduce the feedback time and implement cascade control, which leads to maintaining the residual chlorine concentration decided by fuzzy rule. It helps to take a preemptive action about long time delay, the characteristics of the disinfection process, and reduce the variation of residual chlorine rate by 7.3 times and the chlorine consumption by 40,000 dollars. It made a significant contribution to supply hygienically safe drinking water.
Image Contrast Enhancement by Illumination Change Detection

There are many image processing based algorithms and applications that fail when illumination change occurs. Therefore, the illumination change has to be detected then the illumination change occurred images need to be enhanced in order to keep the appropriate algorithm processing in a reality. In this paper, a new method for detecting illumination changes efficiently in a real time by using local region information and fuzzy logic is introduced. The effective way for detecting illumination changes in lighting area and the edge of the area was selected to analyze the mean and variance of the histogram of each area and to reflect the changing trends on previous frame's mean and variance for each area of the histogram. The ways are used as an input. The changes of mean and variance make different patterns w hen illumination change occurs. Fuzzy rules were defined based on the patterns of the input for detecting illumination changes. Proposed method was tested with different dataset through the evaluation metrics; in particular, the specificity, recall and precision showed high rates. An automatic parameter selection method was proposed for contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization method by using entropy of image through adaptive neural fuzzy inference system. The results showed that the contrast of images could be enhanced. The proposed algorithm is robust to detect global illumination change, and it is also computationally efficient in real applications.
The Optimization of Fuzzy Prototype Classifier by using Differential Evolutionary Algorithm

In this paper, we proposed the fuzzy prototype pattern classifier. In the proposed classifier, each prototype is defined to describe the related sub-space and the weight value is assigned to the prototype. The weight value assigned to the prototype leads to the change of the boundary surface. In order to define the prototypes, we use Fuzzy C-Means Clustering which is the one of fuzzy clustering methods. In order to optimize the weight values assigned to the prototypes, we use the Differential Evolutionary Algorithm. We use Linear Discriminant Analysis to estimate the coefficients of the polynomial which is the structure of the consequent part of a fuzzy rule. Finally, in order to evaluate the classification ability of the proposed pattern classifier, the machine learning data sets are used.
Hypergraph model based Scene Image Classification Method

Image classification is an important problem in computer vision. However, it is a very challenging problem due to the variability, ambiguity and scale change that exists in images. In this paper, we propose a method of a hypergraph based modeling can consider the higher-order relationships of semantic attributes of a scene image and apply it to a scene image classification. In order to generate the hypergraph optimized for specific scene category, we propose a novel search method based on a probabilistic subspace method and also propose a method to aggregate the expression values of the member semantic attributes that belongs to the searched subsets based on a linear transformation method via likelihood based estimation. To verify the superiority of the proposed method, we showed that the discrimination power of the feature vector generated by the proposed method is better than existing methods through experiments. And also, in a scene classification experiment, the proposed method shows a competitive classification performance compared with the conventional methods.
Design of ASM-based Face Recognition System Using (2D)

In this study, we introduce ASM-based face recognition classifier and its design methodology with the aid of 2-dimensional 2-directional hybird preprocessing algorithm. Since the image of face recognition is easily affected by external environments, ASM(active shape model) as image preprocessing algorithm is used to resolve such problem. In particular, ASM is used widely for the purpose of feature extraction for human face. After extracting face image area by using ASM, the dimensionality of the extracted face image data is reduced by using
hybrid preprocessing algorithm based on LDA and PCA. Face image data through preprocessing algorithm is used as input data for the design of the proposed polynomials based radial basis function neural network. Unlike as the case in existing neural networks, the proposed pattern classifier has the characteristics of a robust neural network and it is also superior from the view point of predictive ability as well as ability to resolve the problem of multi-dimensionality. The essential design parameters (the number of row eigenvectors, column eigenvectors, and clusters, and fuzzification coefficient) of the classifier are optimized by means of ABC(artificial bee colony) algorithm. The performance of the proposed classifier is quantified through yale and AT&T dataset widely used in the face recognition.
A Human-Robot Interaction Entertainment Pet Robot

In this paper, a quadruped walking pet robot for human-robot interaction, a robot-controller using a smart phone application program, and a home smart control system using sensor informations providing from the robot are described. The robot has 20 degree of freedom and consists of various sensors such as Kinect sensor, infrared sensor, 3 axis motion sensor, temperature/humidity sensor, gas sensor and graphic LCD module. We propose algorithms for the robot entertainment: walking algorithm of the robot, motion and voice recognition algorithm using Kinect sensor. emotional expression algorithm, smart phone application algorithm for a remote control of the robot, and home smart control algorithm for controlling home appliances. The experiments of this paper show that the proposed algorithms applied to the pet robot, smart phone, and computer are well operated.
Study on Wireless Control of a Board Robot Using an IMU sensor

This study presents the remote control of a board robot using an IMU sensor based on Bluetooth communication. The board robot is a kind of riding robot controlled throng wireless communication by a user. The user wears the proposed IMU sensor controller, and changes a direction of the robot by the angles of IMU sensor. Bluetooth is used for wireless communication between the board robot and its user. The IMU sensor in the remote controller is used for recognition of a number of actions, which are measured as analog signals. The user actions have five commands ('1'right '2'neutrality '3'left '4'operation '5'stop), which are transmitted from the user to the board robot through Bluetooth communication. Experimental results show that proposed IMU interface can effectively control the board robot.
Inverse Hysteresis Modeling for Piezoelectric Stack Actuators with Inverse Generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii Model

Piezoelectric actuators have been widely used in various applications because they have many advantages such as fast response time, repeatable nanometer motion, and high resolution. However Piezoelectric actuators have the strong hysteresis effect. The hysteresis effect can degrade the performance of the system using piezoelectric actuators. In past study, the parameters of the inverse hysteresis model are computed from the identified parameters using the Generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii(GPI) model to cancel the hysteresis effect, however according to the identified parameters there exist the cases that can't form the inverse hysteresis loop. Thus in this paper the inverse hysteresis modeling mothod is proposed using the Inverse Generalized Prandtl-Ishlinskii(IGPI) model to handle that problem. The modeling results are verified by experimental results using various input signals.
Lattice Structure of Generalized Intuitionistic Fuzzy Soft Sets

Park et al. introduced the concept of generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets, which can be seen as an effective mathematical tool to deal with uncertainties. In this paper, we introduce new operations such as restricted union and restricted intersection and study their basic properties, and deal with the algebraic structure of generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets. The lattice structures of generalized intuitionistic fuzzy soft sets are constructed.
Mobility Support Architecture in Locator-ID Separation based Future Internet using Proxy Mobile IPv6

Of several approaches for future Internet, separating two properties of IP address into locator and identifier, is being considered as a highly likely solution. IETF's LISP (Locator ID Separation Protocol) is proposed for this architecture. In particular, the LISP model easily allows for device mobility through simple update of information at MS (Mapping Server) without a separate protocol. In recent years, some of the models supporting device mobility using such LISP attributes have emerged; however, most of them have the limitation for seamless mobility support due to the frequent MS information updates and the time required for the updates. In this paper, PMIPv6 (Proxy Mobile IPv6) model is applied for mobility support in LISP model. PMIPv6 is a method that can support mobility based on network without the help of device; thus, this we define anew the behavior of functional modules (LMA, MAG and MS) to fit this model to the LISP environment and present specifically procedures of device registration, data transfer, route optimization and handover. In addition, our approach improves the communication performance using three tunnels identified with locators between mobile node and corresponding node and using a route optimized tunnel between MN's MAG and CN's MAG. Finally, it allows for seamless mobility by designing a sophisticated handover procedure.
Solution of the Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem on the Foundation of a Term-Based Approach

The logic-based scheduling language RCPSV may be used to model resource-constrained project scheduling problems with variants for minimizing the project completion time. A diagram-based, nonredundant enumeration algorithm for the RCPSV-problem is proposed and the correctness of the algorithm is proved.
