Cooperative UAV/UGV Platform for a Wide Range of Visual Information

In this study, a cooperative UAV and UGV platform is proposed to obtain a wide range of visual information. The UAV recognizes a pattern marker on UGV and tracks the UGV without user control. It can provide wide range of visual information for a user in the UGV. The UGV by a user is controled equipped with an aluminum board. And the UAV can take off and land on the UGV. The UAV uses two cameras; one camera is used to recognize a pattern marker and another is used to provide a wide range of visual information to the UGV's user. It is guaranteed that the proposed visual-based approach detects and tracks the target marker on the UGV, and then lands well. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can effectively construct a cooperative UAV/UGV platform for obtaining a wide range of vision information.
Genetic Algorithm-based Generative Design for Creative Ring Design

Creativity is crucial in designing and producing attractive accessaries and daily supplies as well as art works. Generative design can be a paradigm to be used to obtain novel ideas or motifs for creative design works. This paper introduces a generative design method which comes up with unique ring models using genetic algorithm. It presents how the genetic algorithm works in terms of candidate solution coding, operators, and fitness evaluation function. The proposed method allows the customers to express their personal preference and later the preference to be reflected in fitness evaluation. In the final stage of the proposed method, several ring models are suggested for customers to choose on their own. The chosen ring models can be put into physical rings with the help of a 3D printer because the models are expressed in 3D geometric structures.
Implementations of Record_Level Synchronized Safe Personal Cloud

As the usefulness of mobile device is kept growing the privacy of the cloud computing is receiving more attentions. Even though many researches and solutions for privacy matters are suggested we are still worrying about the security problems. In addition most of cloud computing systems uses file-level synchronization which make it difficult to modify a part of a file. If we use data-centric app that stores data on embedded DBMS such as SQLite, a simple synchronization may incur some loss of information. In this paper we propose a solution to build a personal cloud that supports record-level synchronization. And we show a prototype system which uses RESTful web services and the same schema on mobie devices and the cloud storage. Synchronization is achieved by using a kind of optimistic concurrency control.
Mathematical Modelling and Chaotic Behavior Analysis of Cyber Addiction

Addiction can be largely divided into two categories. One is called medium addiction in which medium itself causes an addiction. Another is called cause addiction that brings addiction through combination of sensitive self and latent personal action. The medium addiction involves addiction phenomena directly caused by illegal drugs, alcohol and various other chemicals. The cause addiction is dependent on personal sensitivities as a sensitive problem of personal and includes cyber addictions such as shopping, work, game, internet, TV, and gambling. In this paper we propose two-dimensional addiction model that are equivalent to using an R-L-C series circuit of Electrical circuit and a Spring-Damper-mass of mechanical system. We also organize a Duffing equation that is added a nonlinear term in the proposed two-dimensional addiction model. We represent periodic motion and chaotic motion as time series and phase portrait according to parameter's variation. We confirm that among parameters chaotic motion had addicted state and periodic motion caused by change in control coefficient had pre-addiction state.
An Automated Technique for Detecting Axon Structure in Time-Lapse Neural Image Sequence

The purpose of the neural image analysis is to trace the velocities and the directions of moving mitochondria migrating through axons. This paper proposes an automated technique for detecting axon structure. Previously, the detection process has been carried out using a partially automated technique combined with some human intervention. In our algorithm, a consolidated image is built by taking the maximum intensity value on the all image frames at each pixel Axon detection is performed through vessel enhancement filtering followed by a peak detection procedure. In order to remove errors contained in ridge points, a filtering process is devised using a local reliability measure. Experiments have been performed using real neural image sequences and ground truth data extracted manually. It has been turned out that the proposed algorithm results in high detection rate and precision.
Development of Magnet Position Device for Outdoor Magnet Guidance Vehicle

This paper is research paper on the MPD(Magnet Position Device) for the outdoor MGV(Magnet /Magnet Gyro Guidance Vehicle). Usually, MGV is used in indoor environment because of a measurement height of the magnet position device. CMPD(Commercial magnet position device) has 30 mm measurement height, so this is suitable structure in indoor environment like to a flat surface. Outdoor environment is an uneven and irregular, So Outdoor MGV must has a suspension. But CMPD is unsuitable for outdoor environment because of a collision with a surface caused by suspension. Thus, measurement height of the outdoor MPD is positively necessary more than 100 mm. So, we suggest the outdoor MPD using analog magnet hall sensor, moving average filter and Characteristic(rate of the magnet hall sensor) function of the localization. Result of the experiments, the proposed Magnet Position Device for the outdoor MGV has localization accuracy 4.31 mm, measurement height 150 mm and width 150 mm and is efficient more than CMPD.

Design and Implementation of the Stop line and Crosswalk Recognition Algorithm for Autonomous UGV

In spite of that stop line and crosswalk should be aware of the most basic objects in transportation system, its features extracted are very limited. In addition to image-based recognition technology, laser and RF, GPS/INS recognition technology, it is difficult to recognize. For this reason, the limited research in this area has been done. In this paper, the algorithm to recognize the stop line and crosswalk is designed and implemented using image-based recognition technology with the images input through a vision sensor. This algorithm consists of three functions.; One is to select the area, in advance, needed for feature extraction in order to speed up the data processing, 'Region of Interest', another is to process the images only that white color is detected more than a certain proportion in order to remove the unnecessary operation, 'Color Pattern Inspection', the other is 'Feature Extraction and Recognition', which is to extract the edge features and compare this to the previously-modeled one to identify the stop line and crosswalk. For this, especially by using case based feature comparison algorithm, it can identify either both stop line and crosswalk exist or just one exists. Also the proposed algorithm is to develop existing researches by comparing and analysing effect of in-vehicle camera installation and changes in recognition rate of distance estimation and various constraints such as backlight and shadow.
Design of Levitation Controller with Optimal Fuzzy PID Controller for Magnetic Levitation System

This paper proposes a optimum design method for the Fuzzy PID controller of magnetic levitation-based Rail-Guided Vehicle(RGV). Since an attraction type levitation system is intrinsically unstable, it is difficult to completely satisfy the desired performance through the methods designed by conventional controllers. In the paper, the Fuzzy PID controller with fixed parameters are applied and then the optimum parameters of fuzzy PID controller are selected by genetic algorithm. For the fitness function of genetic algorithm, the performance index of PID controller is used. To verify the performance of the proposed method, we used Matlab/simulink model of Maglev and compared the proposed method with the performance of PID controller. The simulation results show that the proposed method is more effective than conventional PID controller.
Conflict Resolution of Patterns for Generating Linked Data From Tables

Recently, many researchers have paid attention to the study on generation of new linked data from tables by using linked open data (e.g. RDF, OWL). This paper proposes a new method for such generation of linked data. A pattern-based method intrinsically has a conflict problem among patterns. For instance, several patterns, mapping a single header of a table into different properties of linked data, conflict with each others. Existing studies have sacrificed precision by applying a statistically dominant pattern or have ignored conflicting patterns to increase precision. The proposed method finds appropriate patterns for all headers in a given table by connecting patterns applied to the headers. Experiments using DBPedia and Wikipedia showed results that conflicts of patterns are effectively resolved by the proposed method.
Measuring Similarity Between Movies Based on Sentiment of Tweets

As a Social Network Service (SNS) has become an integral part of our everyday lives, millions of users can express their opinion and share information regardless of time and place. Hence sentiment analysis using micro-blogs has been studied in various field to know people's opinion on particular topics. Most of previous researches on movie reviews consider only positive and negative sentiment and use it to predict movie rating. As people feel not only positive and negative but also various emotion, the sentiment that people feel while watching a movie need to be classified in more detail to extract more information than personal preference. We measure sentiment distributions of each movie from tweets according to the Thayer's model. Then, we find similar movies by calculating similarity between each sentiment distributions. Through the experiments, we verify that our method using micro-blogs performs better than using only genre information of movies.
Robust Object Extraction Algorithm in the Sea Environment

In this paper, we proposed a robust object extraction and tracking algorithm in the IR image sequence acquired in the sea environment. In order to extract size-invariant object, we detect horizontal and vertical edges by using DWT and combine it to generate saliency map. To extract object region, binarization technique is applied to saliency map. The correspondences between objects in consecutive frames are defined by the calculating minimum weighted Euclidean distance as a matching measure. Finally, object trajectories are determined by considering false correspondences such as entering object, vanishing objects and false object and so on. The proposed algorithm can find trajectories robustly, which has shown by experimental results.
Design of Hybrid Wheeled and Legged Mobile Robot with a Waist Joint

In this paper, we design a hybrid wheeled and legged mobile robot with a waist joint. The proposed hybrid mobile robot is designed to have a hybrid structure with leg and wheel for the efficient movement in flat and uneven surfaces. The proposed robot have a waist joint that is used to stably transform from wheeled driving to legged walking of the robot and to overcome non-flat surface. In order to recognize various environments we use LRF sensor, PSD sensor, CCD camera. Also, a motion planning method for hybrid mobile robot with a waist joint is proposed to select wheeled driving motion and legged walking motion of the robot based the environment types. We verify the efficient mobility of the developed hybrid mobile robot through navigation experiments using the proposed motion planning method in various environments.
Building an Algorithm for Compensating AIS Error Data

The domestic maritime environment shows higher frequency of maritime accidents amidst greater traffic volume arising from increasing international seaborne trade and maritime leisure activities. To reduce such maritime accidents, there exist various kinds of safety navigation devices in the ship bridge aimed to mitigate burdens of navigators and support their accurate decision making. Amongst is the AIS considered very important, which is an automatic tracking system to assist understanding of the circumstances in the vicinity by receiving information of other ships and also sending its own; where the information contains errors initially, however, such wrong information is periodically transmitted, accordingly giving rise to hindrance sometimes in decision making by shore operators or ship navigators at sea. This study is to propose the error data and field management algorithm using fuzzy theory toward improving reliability and accuracy in ship related information received from AIS.
A Viewer Preference Model Based on Physiological Feedback

A movie recommendation system is proposed to learn a preference model of a viewer by using multimodal features of a video content and their evoked implicit responses of the viewer in synchronized manner. In this system, facial expression, body posture, and physiological signals are measured to estimate the affective states of the viewer, in accordance with the stimuli consisting of low-level and affective features from video, audio, and text streams. Experimental results show that it is possible to predict arousal response, which is measured by electrodermal activity, of a viewer from auditory and text features in a video stimuli, for estimating interestingness on the video.
CosmoScriBe 2.0 : The development of Korean transcription tools

In spoken language research, transcription process needs to be carried out to translate voice data into text. Transcription tool, support program of transcription, offers various information such as content and time of utterance and speaker information. For this reason, inexperienced computer users are having trouble familiarizing with the program. Moreover, since there are little transcription tools developed domestically in Korea, they are usually not suitable for Korean environment. In this paper, we propose a transcription tool which supports not only Korean transcription but easy-to-use interface environment for novice. The transcription supporting function is also provided to minimize mistake that might happen in the process of transcription. And a system structure will be provided for data reliability. Usability of the proposed tool is evaluated in accordance with transcription experience. The evaluation result shows that transcription process and transcription support function have become faster and more convenient respectively.
EA-Based Tuning of the PID Controller for a CSTR

Many industrial processes such as continuous stirred tank reactors(CSTRs), desalination plant, distillation columns, pH neutralization processes and so on exhibit highly nonlinear characteristic and time-varying behavior during operation. The control of such processes has been challenging to control engineers. Hence, a variety of forms of PID controllers and their tuning rules for industrial processes have been developed to guarantee the best performance. In this paper, a scheme that designs the practical PID controller with an anti-windup strategy incorporating with an evolutionary algorithm(EA) is presented for the concentration control of a nonisothermal CSTR. EA is used to tune the parameters of the overall PID control process with anti-windup by minimizing the integral of absolute error(IAE). Simulation works for reference tracking and disturbance rejecting performances and robustness to parameter changes show the feasibility of using the proposed method.
A Study on the Advancement Structure Model of Maritime Safety Information System(GICOMS) using FSM

This paper is aims to build the advancement structural model of GICOMS through identification of required system and improvement for implementation of e-Navigation. We derived nine improvement subject for model of advanced GICOMS through the analysis of problems for GICOMS and brainstorming with expert in the maritime safety. And we analyzed the structure of nine improvement subject using by FSM(Fuzzy Structural Modeling) method, and proposed a structural model that to grasp the correlation between elements. As a result, we found out that "advancement of GICOMS" is the final goal, and "improvement a system of information production", "improvement a scheme of information providing", "linkage between GICOMS and VTS" and "building global networks for safety cooperation" are located lowest level. Especially, "advancement of GICOMS" is influenced by "advancement function of VMS" and "Activation of usage" on middle level. We suggested that utilizing state-of-the-art IT facilities, equipment and expertise to improve and enhance the user-centered transition such as maritime workers for advancement of GICOMS based on proposed structure model.
