The Korea Meteorological Administration has operated the Automatic Weather Stations, of the average 13 km horizontal resolution, to observe rainfall. However, an additional RADAR network also has been operated in all-weather conditions, because AWS network could not observed rainfall over the sea. In general, the rain rate is obtained by estimating the relationship between the radar reflectivity (Z) and the rainfall (R). But this empirical relationship needs to be optimized on the rainfall over the Korean peninsula. Development of Library Management System based on a Mobile Robot

In this paper, we propose a method for verifying the location of the books in working order to enhance the effiency of library management. On open libraries, occasionally people relocate the book by mistake or intention after reading one. In this occasion, the book is assorted as a lost property and cannot be lended to others, even though it is still in the library. To solve this problem, the system we propose takes an image of the book selves by a mobile robot and extracts the classifying information of the book. After comparison between current location of the book and assigned location of the library database, information of the mislocated books is notified to the librarian.
Robust Control Design for a Two-Wheeled Inverted Pendulum Mobile Robot

The research on two-wheeled inverted pendulum (TWIP) mobile robots has been ongoing in a number of robotic laboratories around the world. In this paper, we consider a robust controller design for the TWIP mobile robot driving on uniform slopes. We use a 2 degree-of-freedom (DOF) model which is obtained by restricting the spinning motion in a 3 DOF motion dynamic equation. In order to design the robust controller guaranteeing stability of the TWIP mobile robot driving on inclined surface, we propose a sliding mode control based on the theory of variable structure systems and design a sliding surface using the theory of the linear quadratic regulation (LQR). For simulation, the dynamic model of the TWIP mobile robot is constructed using Mathworks` Simulink and the sliding mode control is also implemented using Simulink. From simulation results, we show that the proposed controller effectively controls the TWIP mobile robot driving on slopes.
Experimental Studies of a Time-delayed Controller for Balancing Control of a Two-wheel Mobile Robot

This paper presents balancing control of a two-wheel mobile robot (TWMR). TWMR is aimed to maintain balance while moving. Although TWMR can be controlled by linear controllers such as PD controller, time-delayed controller is employed for robustness. Performances of PD controllers and time-delayed controllers are compared. Especially, experimental studies on different acceleration estimation for the time-delayed controller are conducted. Performances by different acceleration estimations of the balancing angle, of the position, and of both angle and position are compared empirically.
One Grip based Doorpull Shaped Doorlock System using Fingerprint Recognition and Touch Pattern

Recently, digital doorlock systems have been employing biometric recognition and smartphone as personal authentification means. The performance of a digital doorlock system is determined by the two conflicting indices such as security and convenience. This paper proposes and implements one grip based doorpull shaped doorlock systems using fingerprint and touch sensor grip pattern. The proposed system sequentially performs fingerprint recognition and grip pattern identification when a user grips the doorpull in order to open the door. This method so called `One Grip` is considered to enhance security while maintaining users` convenience. We expect the proposed method can solve the phone missing problem encountered in developing smart doorlock systems based on smartphones.
Analysis of Nonlinear Dynamics in Family Model including Parent-in-Law

Recently, it is emphasized importance of family. The new family organize including husband and wife are created by caused marriage, they organize new family including wife`s home and husband`s home. As a result, they may experience about conflict or peace between new family and previous family. The research of family mainly have been studied in the social science side. However, because researchers of social science deals with linguistic emotion status, there is no mathematical modeling for family relationship. In this paper, one of the nonlinear research for social subject, we modify love model of Romeo and Juliet. Then we propose novel family relationship model for parent-in-law and daughter (or son)-in- law relation. We also confirm chaotic behavior or nonlinear behavior by time series and phase portrait.
Performance Improvement of Stereo Matching by Image Segmentation based on Color and Multi-threshold

This paper proposed the method to improve performance of a pixel, which has low accuracy, by applying image segmentation methods based on color and multi-threshold of brightness. Stereo matching is the process to find the corresponding point on the right image with the point on the left image. For this process, distance(depth) information in stereo images is calculated. However, in the case of a region which has textureless, stereo matching has low accuracy and bad pixels occur on the disparity map. In the proposed method, the relationship between adjacent pixels is considered for compensating bad pixels. Generally, the object has similar color and brightness. Therefore, by considering the relationship between regions based on segmented regions by means of color and multi-threshold of brightness respectively, the region which is considered as parts of same object is re-segmented. According to relationship information of segmented sets of pixels, bad pixels in the disparity map are compensated efficiently. By applying the proposed method, the results show a decrease of nearly 28% in the number of bad pixels of the image applied the method which is established.
Sampled-Data Controller Design for Nonlinear Systems Including Singular Perturbation in Takagi-Sugeno Form

This paper discusses a sampled-data controller design problem for nonlinear systems including singular perturbation. The concerned system is assumed to be modeled in Takagi--Sugeno (T--S) form. By introducing a novel Lyapunov function and an identity equation, the stability of the sampled-data closed-loop dynamics of the singularly perturbed T--S fuzzy system is analyzed. The design condition is represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities. A few discussions on the development are made that propose future research topics. Numerical simulation shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Design of Digit Recognition System Realized with the Aid of Fuzzy RBFNNs and Incremental-PCA

In this study, we introduce a design of Fuzzy RBFNNs-based digit recognition system using the incremental-PCA in order to recognize the handwritten digits. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is a widely-adopted dimensional reduction algorithm, but it needs high computing overhead for feature extraction in case of using high dimensional images or a large amount of training data. To alleviate such problem, the incremental-PCA is proposed for the computationally efficient processing as well as the incremental learning of high dimensional data in the feature extraction stage. The architecture of Fuzzy Radial Basis Function Neural Networks (RBFNN) consists of three functional modules such as condition, conclusion, and inference part. In the condition part, the input space is partitioned with the use of fuzzy clustering realized by means of the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) algorithm. Also, it is used instead of gaussian function to consider the characteristic of input data. In the conclusion part, connection weights are used as the extended diverse types in polynomial expression such as constant, linear, quadratic and modified quadratic. Experimental results conducted on the benchmarking MNIST handwritten digit database demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed digit recognition system when compared with other studies.
Marathon Game and Strategy of Humanoid Robot

In this paper, a marathon of a humanoid robot is introduced, and its strategy is proposed. In order to develop humanoid robots for the purpose of cooperation and symbiosis with humans, the technologies such as increasing operating time and stability or recognizing surrounding environment are more important. One proper research model for the technologies is a human`s marathon. In this paper, we introduce the human`s marathon, and propose the humanoid robot`s marathon. The marathon event of HuroCup has the most similar game rules to the human`s marathon. The humanoid robot developed with the proper operating time, stability and ability to recognize the surrounding environment performed the marathon in HuroCup. The robot recognizes a marathon track using a computer vision, and builds the strategies for the race competition. By analyzing the experimental results, the humanoid robot performed in a real competition.
Face Classification Using Cascade Facial Detection and Convolutional Neural Network

Nowadays, there are many research for recognizing face of people using the machine vision. the machine vision is classification and analysis technology using machine that has sight such as human eyes. In this paper, we propose algorithm for classifying human face using this machine vision system. This algorithm consist of Convolutional Neural Network and cascade face detector. And using this algorithm, we classified the face of subjects. For training the face classification algorithm, 2,000, 3,000, and 4,000 images of each subject are used. Training iteration of Convolutional Neural Network had 10 and 20. Then we classified the images. In this paper, about 6,000 images was classified for effectiveness. And we implement the system that can classify the face of subjects in realtime using USB camera.
Information measures for generalized hesitant fuzzy information

In this paper, we present the entropy and similarity measure for generalized hesitant fuzzy information, and discuss their desirable properties. Some measure formulas are developed, and the relationships among them are investigated. We show that the similarity measure and entropy for generalized hesitant fuzzy information can be transformed by each other based on their axiomatic definitions. Furthermore, an approach of multiple attribute decision making problems where attribute weights are unknown and the evaluation values of attributes for each alternative are given in the form of GHFEs is investigated.
Performance Evaluation of Motorcycle`s Anti-theft Device using NFC Authentication and Solenoid Valve

This paper proposes a method for the immobilization of motorbike brakes in conjunction with near-field communication (NFC) technology in order to meet the increasing demand for security and convenience of motorbike drivers. We thought about the concept of wireless key, NFC security devices and automatic solenoid valve for setting the lock and unlock module. This paper propose the design and development of an innovative anti-theft alarm system for motorcycles using NFC smart devices based on RFID system, the basis of IoT and AES(advanced encryption standard) encryption Algorithm. The design concept is based on NFC communication strategy between the vehicle and owner. To do this concept, we designed motorcycle smart key system with general-purpose NFC system and the automatic solenoid valve for setting the lock and unlock module. First, we designed control unit and NFC card reader for motorcycle smart key system. Then we propose an AES encryption algorithm and prove that the motorcycle key system is controllable by showing the result of implementing and testing, after installing.
Optimization of Fuzzy Learning Machine by Using Particle Swarm Optimization

In this paper, optimization technique such as particle swarm optimization was used to optimize the parameters of fuzzy Extreme Learning Machine. While the learning speed of conventional neural networks is very slow, that of Extreme Learning Machine is very fast. Fuzzy Extreme Learning Machine is composed of the Extreme Learning Machine with very fast learning speed and fuzzy logic which can represent the linguistic information of the field experts. The general sigmoid function is used for the activation function of Extreme Learning Machine. However, the activation function of Fuzzy Extreme Learning Machine is the membership function which is defined in the procedure of fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm. We optimize the parameters of the membership functions by using optimization technique such as Particle Swarm Optimization. In order to validate the classification capability of the proposed classifier, we make several experiments with the various machine learning datas.
