Design of Minimum and Maximum Control Charts under Weibull Distribution

Statistical process control techniques have been greatly implemented in industries for improving product quality and saving production costs. As a primary tool among these techniques, control charts are widely used to detect the occurrence of assignable causes. In most works on the control charts it considered the problem of monitoring the mean and variance, and the quality characteristic of interest is normally distributed. In some situations monitoring of the minimum and maximum values is more important and the quality characteristic of interest is the Weibull distribution rather than a normal distribution. In this paper, we consider the statistical design of minimum and maximum control charts when the distribution of the quality characteristic of interest is Weibull. The proposed minimum and maximum control charts are applied to the wind data. The results of the application show that the proposed method is more effective than traditional methods.
Establishment and Application of a Comprehensive Business Model Framework : Focusing on Healthcare Business Models

A business model (BM) can be developed based on a business model framework (BMF) consisting of key components such as value proposition, customers, and resources. To systematically generate and analyze emerging BMs such as healthcare BM, an integration of diverse BMF components is needed. The present study is to establish a comprehensive BMF and evaluate its applicability to healthcare BMs. Based on a review of eight BMF studies, ten BMF components were identified and classified into five major components (value proposition, resources, organizing model, customers, and revenue model) and five minor components (technology, service platform, delivery, competitive strategy, and growth/exit) by analyses of frequency and functional importance. Lastly, the BMs of three emerging healthcare companies (WellDoc, Inc., CFW Shops, and Aravind Eye Care System) were analyzed and compared in terms of the proposed BMF components. The comprehensive BMF components presented in the study can be of help for developing new BMs and analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of BMs.
Detection of API(Anomaly Process Instance) Based on Distance for Process Mining

There have been many attempts to find knowledge from data using conventional statistics, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning and pattern recognition. In those research areas, knowledge is approached in two ways. Firstly, researchers discover knowledge represented in general features for universal recognition, and secondly, they discover exceptional and distinctive features. In process mining, an instance is sequential information bounded by case ID, known as process instance. Here, an exceptional process instance can cause a problem in the analysis and discovery algorithm. Hence, in this paper we develop a method to detect the knowledge of exceptional and distinctive features when performing process mining. We propose a method for anomaly detection named Distance-based Anomaly Process Instance Detection (DAPID) which utilizes distance between process instances. DAPID contributes to a discovery of distinctive characteristic of process instance. For verifying the suggested methodology, we discovered characteristics of exceptional situations from log data. Additionally, we experiment on real data from a domestic port terminal to demonstrate our proposed methodology.
Development of Projectile Transfer System to Prevent Musculoskeletal Problems

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the development of mechanical projectile transfer system to prevent musculoskeletal problems in the firing test range. Prior to 2010, the projectile has been transferred from the worktable to the loading device of 155mm K9 fixed-type artillery by manual. Because the amount of firing test has been increased drastically since 2010, two types of mechanical projectile transfer system were developed to prevent musculoskeletal problems. The NIOSH lift equation and the working posture assessment system such as OWAS, RULA and REBA were used to evaluate the appropriacy of working weight and posture by manual transfer of projectile. The configuration and operation procedure of projectile transfer systems which were developed to improve work efficacy and to reduce the burden of manual transferring were described. The improvements were assessed by the number of processes, the tact time and the working posture assessment for operation of this system by comparing to the manual transfer of projectile.
An Empirical Study to Support Intellectual Property Strategy Planning in Firms : The Use of Intellectual Property Roadmap

To strengthen competences, most of firms have co-operated with external partners. This increases the possibility of unexpected conflicts between firms due to the intellectual property litigation. A suitable intellectual property strategy for firms has to be developed to settle this issue. This study aims to analyze an utilization of intellectual property strategy in firms, and tries to suggest a concept of IP roadmap to support intellectual property strategy planning aligned with technology planning process. For the purposes, we derive five types of intellectual property strategy of firms using Korea Innovation Survey. Then, we explore significant affecting factors using a decision-tree and conduct in-depth analysis for them. Lastly, we suggest a concept of IP roadmap, which can be a supporting tool for developing intellectual property strategy in firms, based on analysis results.
A Prediction of Wafer Yield Using Product Fabrication Virtual Metrology Process Parameters in Semiconductor Manufacturing

Yield prediction is one of the most important issues in semiconductor manufacturing. Especially, for a fast-changing environment of the semiconductor industry, accurate and reliable prediction techniques are required. In this study, we propose a prediction model to predict wafer yield based on virtual metrology process parameters in semiconductor manufacturing. The proposed prediction model addresses imbalance problems frequently encountered in semiconductor processes so as to construct reliable prediction model. The effectiveness and applicability of the proposed procedure was demonstrated through a real data from a leading semiconductor industry in South Korea.
Correlation Analysis on Semiconductor Process Variables Using CCA(Canonical Correlation Analysis) : Focusing on the Relationship between the Voltage Variables and Fail Bit Counts through the Wafer Process

Semiconductor manufacturing industry is a high density integration industry because it generates a vest number of data that takes about 300~400 processes that is supervised by numerous production parameters. It is asked of engineers to understand the correlation between different stages of the manufacturing process which is crucial in reducing production costs. With complex manufacturing processes, and defect processing time being the main cause. In the past, it was possible to grasp the corelation among manufacturing process stages through the engineer's domain knowledge. However, It is impossible to understand the corelation among manufacturing processes nowadays due to high density integration in current semiconductor manufacturing. in this paper we propose a canonical correlation analysis (CCA) using both wafer test voltage variables and fail bit counts variables. using the method we suggested, we can increase the semiconductor yield which is the result of the package test.
Field Service Engineer Replenishment Policy Assessment Using a Discrete-Event and Agent-Based Simulation Model : A Case Study

In this paper, a simulation model for assessing the impact of alternative field service engineer replenishment policies is introduced. The end-to-end supply chain simulation model is created using a discrete-event and agent-based simulation model, which enables accurate description of key individual entities in the investigated supply chain, such as field service engineers. Once the model is validated with the historical data, it is used to assess the impacts of field service engineer replenishment policies for a major printing equipment manufacturing firm.In the case study, newly proposed replenishment policies for post-sale distribution supply chain are assessed for the level of service improvement to end customers.
