Ergonomic Verification of Suitability of the 4-Wheeled Hand Cart to Transfer a Projectile for Towed Howitzer

The purpose of this study is to investigate the ergonomic verification of suitability of the 4-wheeled hand cart to prevent musculoskeletal problems in the firing test range. Because of the increasing amount of firing test, the needs to develop a projectile transferring device such as 4-wheeled hand cart has been increased. For the 4-wheeled hand cart, the lifting and carrying activity in the manual handling method were transformed to pushing activity. The risk of low back pain for lifting and carrying the projectile by manual was estimated by NLE and 3D SSPP. On the other hand, the risk for pushing the 4-wheeled hand cart was estimated by psychophysical and biomechanical method such as Mital's equation, Snook's table and 3D SSPP. It was shown that the 4-wheeled hand cart reduced the risk of low back pain drastically with higher efficiency and design compatibility.
Branch-and-Bound Based Heuristic Scheduling for the Single-Hoist and Multiple-Products Production System

This paper deals with the single-hoist and multiple-products scheduling problem. Although a mixed integer linear programming model for the problem was developed earlier, a branch-and-bound based heuristic algorithm is proposed in this paper to solve the big-size problems in real situation. The algorithm is capable of handling problems incorporating different product types, jobs in the process, and tank capacities. Using a small example problem the procedure of the heuristic algorithm is explained. To assess the performance of the heuristic we generate a bigger example problem and compare the results of the algorithm proposed in this paper with the optimal solutions derived from the mathematical model of earlier research. The comparison shows that the heuristic has very good performance and the computation time is sufficiently short to use the algorithm in real situation.
Industrial Engineering as a Multidisciplinary Field : Exploring the Structure of Academic Convergence in Industrial Engineering by Journal Citation Network Analysis

One of the distinctive characteristics of industrial engineering (IE) is its multidisciplinarity. This paper explores the multidisciplinary nature of IE using journal citation network analysis. Using the relatedness indexes of IE journals obtained from journal citation report (JCR), we firstly construct the IE network only composed of 26 IE journals. The resulting IE network is partitioned into three sub-networks: management engineering, manufacturing/quality, and ergonomics. We then propose the IE convergence network which includes 81 related journals in other disciplines as well as 26 IE journals. Scrutinizing the IE convergence network reveals that IE has a high degree of interactions with seven disciplines : Operations Research and Management Science, Statistics and Probability, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Design, Business Management, Human Factors and Ergonomics. We investigate the contributions of the related disciplines to IE as well as contributions of IE to the related disciplines. The role of IE journals in exchanging knowledge with related disciplines is also identified by brokerage analysis. It is shown that visualizing and analyzing the IE convergence network can provide an excellent overview of the multidisciplinary structure of IE, which can help IE researchers easily grasp the state-of-the art of IE research.

A well-established e-health strategy at the national level is necessary to successfully achieve the trust-and-consensus-based e-health goals by linking strategic information planning and the execution of an implementation plan. This paper provides a methodology of how to establish a national e-health strategy and the case of e-Health Information Strategic Planning (ISP) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Korea. The ISP is to improve the quality of care and contribute to the economic growth by integrating a variety of policies and providing affordable and competitive services.
Identifying Converging Technologies in the ICT Industry : Analysis of Patents Published by Incumbents and Entrants

As the ICT is an industry which is the basis of the technology convergence, it is the driving force of development for new business opportunities and existing industries. But, most of the existing studies for ICT convergence have identified the trend for convergence in technological terms. So, it is difficult to identify the convergence trend in the subject innovation perspective which leads the innovation activities In the ICT industry. The newly entered companies in the ICT industry are key indicators to identify the convergence trend. They have two specific characteristics that show the wide range of the convergence technology and the application rate of the convergence. Because previous studies did not take into account these two characteristics of the newly entered companies, so it is hard to analyze the exact convergence trend. Therefore, in this paper, we classify the patents for the ICT industry depending on the subject innovation. Then, we deduct the core convergence technology in the ICT industries and application area of the non-ICT industries.
Success Factors of Game Products by Using a Diffusion Model and Cluster Analysis

As the global game market has been more competitive, it has been important to analyze success factors of game products. In this paper, we applied a Bass Diffusion Model and Clustering Analysis to identify the success factors of games based on data from Steam, an international game platform. By using a diffusion model, we first categorize game products into two groups : successful and unsuccessful games. Then, each group has been analyzed by using clustering analysis based on product features such as genres, price, and minimum system requirements. As a result, success factors of a game have been identified. The result shows that customers in game industry appreciate sophisticated contents. Unlike many other industries, price is not considered as a key success factor in the game industry. Expecially, advanced independent video games (commonly referred to as indie games) with killer contents show competitiveness in the market.
Issues for Technology-Humanities Convergence : Patent Keyword Analysis

As the limitation of the existing convergence is pointed out, technology-humanities convergence which highlights the enhancement of the quality of life of humans, is focused as a solution to facilitate sustainable technological innovation. Technology-humanities convergence has already occurred in various industries, of which a considerable number of successful cases can be noted. However, few efforts have been made to investigate technologyhumanities convergence as an independent academic field. Therefore, this paper aimed to identify the status of technology-humanities convergence. To do this, first, a definition of technology-humanities convergence was proposed. Second, based on Maslow's theory, the types of human needs and related key words were extracted. Third, patents related to human needs were collected from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (2000~2014). Fourth and last, the status of technology-humanities convergence was analyzed in terms of "convergence trends" and "convergence areas." This research is expected to promote more creative and human-centered performances of innovation as well as to support decision-making when the innovation strategy-as attempted by the quantitative analysis of technology-humanities convergence in the perspective of sustainable competitiveness-is established.
Design of a Plant Life Cycle Data Management System for Plant Operation and Maintenance

Plant life cycle consists of design, construction, certification, operation, and maintenance phases, and various and enormous plant life cycle data is involved in each phase. Plant life cycle data should be linked with each other based on its proper relationships, so that plant operators can access necessary plant data during their regular operations and maintenance works. Currently, the relationships of plant life cycle data may not be defined explicitly, or they are scattered over several plant information systems. This paper proposes high level design of a plant life cycle data management system based on pre-defined plant life cycle database design. ISO-15926 standard is adapted for the database design. User-interface designs of the plant life cycle data management system are explained based on analysis of plant owners' requirements. A conceptual design of the database is also described with the entity-relationship diagram.
