A Comprehensive Study on Patient Flow Improvement Solutions and Their Implementation Strategies in an Outpatient System

There are various ways to manage the patient flow of the hospital outpatient system. However, it is difficult to apply many implementation solutions to the real outpatient system at once. Because first, the expected effects of each different solution are very much depend on the real situation of the system and applied other solutions, and second, owing to the limited resources, each solution should be implemented according to the priority. In order to overcome these difficulties, this paper focuses on proposing the comprehensive subset of implementation solutions, which is one of the most effective among various kinds of subsets, and verifying the effects of it. The comprehensive subset of solutions is derived from conducting design of experiments and simulation which determine the optimum set of different solutions and analyze the particular interactions and priority order among them. This implementation strategy can solve the difficulties of applying different kinds of various solutions to the hospital outpatient system.
A Manufacturing Plan for Make-to-Order Semiconductor Plant Considering Cost and Urgent Demand

A semiconductor market is one of the most competitive markets in the world. To survive this competition, important targets for production planning are on-time delivery and profit maximization. In our research, we modify the linear programming model for the current production planning by adding new objective functions that maximize the profit. In addition, we propose a production planning process that gives a priority to new products, reflecting daily fluctuations in demand to weekly production planning. We validate our model with real data sets obtained from a major company semiconductor manufacturer and performed the paired t-test to verify the results. The results showed that our model forecasted profit and loss with 93.2% accuracy and improved the due date satisfaction by 10%.
A Mechanism for Conflict Detection and Resolution for Service Interaction : Toward IP-based Network Services

In the telecommunication system which is based on the existing PSTN(public switched telephone network), feature interaction has been an important research issue in order to provide seamless services to users. Recently, rapid proliferation of IP-based network and the various types of IP media supply services, the feature interaction from the perspective of application services has become a significant aspect. This paper presents conflict detection and resolution algorithms for designing and operating a variety of services that are provided through IP-based network. The algorithms use explicit service interactions to detect conflicts between a new service and registered services. They then apply various rules to reduce search space in resolving conflicts. The algorithms are applied to a wide range of realistic service provision scenarios to validate that it can detect conflicts between services and resolve in accordance with different rule sets. By applying the algorithms to various scenarios, it is observed that the proposed algorithms can be effectively used in operating an IP-based services network.
Systematic Embedded Subsystem Development Methodology for POP System

This paper presents a structured framework for developing the embedded subsystem, called ESDMP (Embedded Subsystem Development Methodology for POP), which is one of core components at the development of POP (Point Of Production) system. It is essential that embedded subsystem development methodology must be closely related to the general information system development methodology from the early stage of system development. Therefore, this paper investigates the PDSM (Production System Development Methodology) that is developed by Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs and widely utilized at the fields of POP system development, and proposes the embedded subsystem development methodology aligned with each step of PSDM. The main characteristics of proposed methodology are as follows : First, it is developed to link each step of embedded subsystem development with relating steps of PSDM from the early stage of feasibility study. Second, it provides the procedure for designing and implementing hardware and software simultaneously. Third, it includes the method of reusability for developed products and modules.
A Tryout Report System of Press Dies using Case-Based Reasoning

A tryout is one of the most important process in development and production of dies. For automotive press dies, it takes 3 to 4 months during the vehicle development process. Moreover, useful information and knowledge from tryout process is very important to design and production planning of dies. In this paper, we developed a new supporting system for making and managing tryout reports of an automotive press die. The CBDTS(Case-Based reasoning for Die Tryout report System) was developed and applied using case-based reasoning method in order to reduce time and manage knowledge of tryout. It consists of "Class Retrieval Wizard", "Case Cleansing Module", and "Case Viewer." Also, this CBDTS could be a channel to integrate field information with enterprise-wide information management systems as well. The CBDTS was applied to a Korean automotive press die shop, and the results were very satisfied in both quantitative and qualitative manners.
Development of the Assembly Line Tester of Power Transmission for Lift Truck

The purpose of this paper is to present the development processes of the assembly line tester of power transmission for lift truck. Because power transmission is most important part of lift truck, all assembled powertrain parts must be inspected for operational defects, pressures and RPM. Developed assembly line tester is designed to take about 25 minutes for inspecting each assembled power transmission and located it at the end of assembled line. The assembly line no-load tester consists of three parts: (1) the driving hardware part; for installing and operating the transmission. (2) control PCB part; send data from sensors to a computer and control driving part, (3) operation software of no-load tester; for an automatic inspection or manual inspection, for database management and printing transcripts.
Safety Assessment for the Design of Digital Reactor Protection System of Nuclear Power Plant

Digital reactor protection system which consists of many identical modules, is fault- tolerant to provide high safety. The modules themselves including DSP(digital signal processing) card are also fault-tolerant in nature. This paper assesses the safety for being-designed digital reactor protection system of 2-out-of-4 G structure with lockout. Some interesting design alternatives are compared. Fault tree analysis for assessing system safety is performed by Relex software. The selected reactor protection system fully satisfies EPRIURD stipulation of mean failure time of 50 years.
A Study on Developing the Performance Evaluation Indicators of Defense R&D Test Development Projects

In this paper we develop a model for the performance evaluation of defense R&D test development projects based on analytic hierarchy process. First, evaluation indicators are collected through the related literature survey and a delphi inquiry method. Second, stepwise multiple linear regression is used for developing a hierarchical structure for analytic hierarchy process in the evaluation model, which can make the selected evaluation indicators of the hierarchical structure independent. Also we verify the effectiveness of proposed indicators of the performance evaluation by comparing with the existing evaluation indicators. The developed indicators for the performance evaluation is more reasonable and practical than the previous indicators on defense R&D test development projects.
