The Development of Subject-matter Knowledge and Pedagogical Content Knowledge in Function Instruction

This study investigates preservice teachers' development of subject-matter knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge in teaching function concept. This development takes place in the pedagogical mathematics courses in which the theory of constructivism and cooperative learning theory are aligned. Pre and post courses test were administered to examine the development and the follow-up interviews were conducted to gain more details. Analysis of the written questionnaire results and interview transcripts reveal that their limited concept image can be extended and developed in depth through pedagogical mathematics courses that apply reformed teaching methods.

For finding the optimal strategy in Blackout game which was introduced in the homepage of popular movie "Beautiful mind", we have developed and generalized a mathematical proof and an algorithm with a couple of softwares. It did require only the concept of basis and knowledge of basic linear algebra. Mathematical modeling and analysis were given for the square matrix case in(Lee,2004) and we now generalize it to a generalized
Blackout game. New proof and algorithm will be given with a visualization.
University Freshmen's Basic Mathematical Abilities

We made an investigation into basic mathematical abilities and made university freshmen an object of this study in order to find out the reason why their capabilities are remarkably behind in studies year by year. According to the survey, we confirmed that recent university freshmen's basic abilities to attend calculus class, right away after entering university, are insufficient for that class. In particular, a matter of grave concern is that score variations are so big despite the equal major of the same university. The aim of the study is to evaluate university freshmen's basic mathematical abilities in nationwide university and to figure out the real situation, then to give assistance to the proper calculus curriculum of university by reflecting the result in it. And also we wish to be helpful to propose proper policy plan in natural science system of highschool.

In our new learning environment, we were asked to change our teaching method in our Linear Algebra class. In mathematics class, we could use several math-softwares such as MATHEMATICA, MATLAB, MAPLE, Drive etc.. MATLAB was quite well fit with our Linear Algebra class. In this paper we introduce an efficient way of delivery on important concepts in linear algebra by using well-known MATLAB/ATLAST M-files which we downloded from http://www.umassd.edu/specialprograms/atlast/.

In this paper we study tetrahedron's properties related with intersection of segments and planes using the principle of the lever. We analyze proof method using the principle of the lever, and describe how to prove intersection of segments and planes using the principle of the lever in tetrahedron.
