Phase error compensation for three-dimensional shape measurement based on a phase-shifting method

In this paper, a prediction and compensation method for the error in the phase measured by using the proportionality between two wavelengths in the TW-PMP (Two-wavelength Phase Measuring Profilometry) is proposed and experimental results are shown to verify the usefulness of the proposed method. For sample object, firstly, a phase-shifting with a quite large number of steps is adopted in measurement, compared with the conventional phase-shifting method, secondly, a 3-3 step phase-shifting method is used to measure the same object which is applied to high-speed 3D shape measurement, and then, measured results from these two phase-shifting methods are compared to calculate measurement noises. From the experimental results applying the proposed compensation method to the measured beat phase and absolute phase, it has proven that noises are decreased by 90% and 17.2% for each case.

Cobalt-loaded activated carbon fibers (ACFs) supported titanium dioxide (
) photocatalyst was developed by sol-gel method. The Co-ACFs/
photocatalyst were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), X.ray diffraction patterns (XRD), energy dispersive X.ray analysis (EDX) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Decomposition efficiency of methylene blue (MB) solution by Co-ACFs/
photocatalyst reached almost 100% under 300 min reaction. The MB molecules in the bulk solutions were supposed to be condensed around
particles by adsorption of ACFs. Therefore, the photocatalyst possesses the combined effect of adsorption by activated carbon fibers and photocatalytic reactivity of
on MB degradation. Due to the cobalt has electron transition effece, thus improved the photodegradation of MB solution.

Home automation system is a demo which is capable of remote monitoring and control on PDA device (which was) programming used by LabVIEW PDA module in embedded system. Every operation program is composed of LabVIEW. And each embedded system is made of self-operating mode without any wiring of PC. This home automation system is controlled by LabVIEW of PDA through Wireless LAN(802.11b).
Measurement of Nitrogen Solubility with Ti addition in Stainless Steel

Nitrogen solubility and nitride formation in liquid 304 Stainless steel has been measured by sampling method at various temperatures. Also values of thermodynamic functions are determined. Nitrogen solubility in molten 304 Stainless steel is increased with temperature and under the 1atm nitrogen atmosphere, titanium nitride is formed over 0.03wt%Ti in 304Stainless steel. Produced nitride is identified TiN by EDS analysis.
Performance Simulation of 300cc Small Engine Intake System

Because of operating environment, the intake system of the small engine needs a serious design consideration. To capture oil particles from the blow-by gas, a grid of the intake system had been applied, but it has very low capturing efficiency and high manufacturing cost. To improve system performance, a new intake system has been developed using computational technique. The grid has been removed and the location of the blow-by hall has been re-designed. Total efficiency capturing oil particles has been improved about 5 times compared with that of previous model with the grid. By removing the grid, approximately 10% of the total manufacturing cast has been reduced.
Gemological Identification of Black Diamonds Roughs from Zimbabwe

Natural black diamonds of single crystal, polycrystalline, and agglomerated roughs become important for their industrial and gem stone application. We performed the conventional gemological tests of thermal diffusion, apparent density, scratch test, and magnification test as well as the advanced tests of Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction test and Lang topography. We conclude that scratch test with SiC paper was the most efficient method in view point of speed and cost. Raman spectroscopy and XRD were useful for identification of diamond while Lang topography offered a good visualization method of the grain structure of polycrystalline black diamond roughs.

A series of wholly aromatic Poly(ether-ether-ester)s with flexible side chain was synthesized by direct polycondensation from ether linkaged triad diol and 2,5-dialkoxyterephthalic acid. The chemical structures and physical properties of these polymers were investigated by using
-NMR, FT-IR, DSC and TGA. As results of investigations, the inherent viscosities(
inh) measured at
in 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane(TCE) were 0.45~0.86 dl/g and initial decomposition(Td) in TGA occurred at 378~418
in N2 gas. The majority of these polymers were soluble in organic solvents used in this experiments at elevated temperatures. Melting temperatures(Tm) decreased with increasing the length of the side chain and showed odd-even effects.

Joint paths of master and branch pipes are induced mathematically for many kinds of joint patterns between both pipes in 3-axis pipe profile-cutting machines. By compensating them with a kerf width, the real cutting paths are determined, and their CL-data are generated, and the tool paths generated by CL-data are verified by a ghost function. A bevelling of welds is implemented through tilting a cutting torch in the
-axis direction for 8 sections in the chuck rotation of
-axis. A PLC controls simultaneously position and velocity in a real time for
-axis by loading CL-data generated. We developed the PLC-controlled 3-axis pipe profile-cutting system which can cut a master or branch pipe along the cutting path and simultaneously do a bevelling process.
Development of hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas torch for joining of vacuum glazing

Efficient energy use becomes necessary since energy consumption has dramatically been increasing due to continuous economic development and population growth. In particular, high efficient vacuum glazing needs to be introduced to buildings where enormous energy loss occurs through windows and has been rarely used yet due to its high price and performance. Therefore, in this study, torch for glass welding was developed with CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) and experiments. Torch shape, nozzle diameter, nozzle arrangement etc. were mainly optimized and hydrogen-oxygen mixed gas fuels the torch. Finally, glass welding with the developed torch has been successful, showing that it can be used to develop economic vacuum glazing.
Output Characteristics of a LGP for TFT-LCD with Pyramid Shaped Pattern

We have analyzed the output characteristics of a LGP with pyramid shaped pattern by using a 3-D simulation tool. The influences on the LGP output of various parameters such as the pattern shape, pattern occupation ratio, pattern size, and etching angle were investigated. Comparing the pyramid shaped pattern with hemispherical patterns, little difference was observed. And, it was proved that the pattern occupation ratio and etching angle have relatively large effects on LGP output characteristics, while the pattern size has no effect. Therefore, we can improve the LGP characteristics by optimizing pattern structure and distribution.

Digital filters are indispensible element in digital signal processing area. The performance of digital filter based on adding and multiplying operation, such as computational speed and power consuming is determined by the orders and coefficients of filter which has on effect area of semiconductor chip when it is implemented by VLSI technology. In this research, in order to performance improvement of digital filter, we proposed the algorithm to speed-up the operation of digital filter associated with the minimum signed digit representation of binary number system and method to simplify the digital filter design associated with common subexpression elimination. The performance of proposed method is evaluated by the computational speed and design-simplicity by experimental implemented digital filter on FPGA.
Image Resolution Reduction Algorithm of Arbitrary Rate and Its Hardware Architecture

The use of general-purpose divider is inevitable to implement a image down-scaler when an arbitrary scaling ratio is given. To get an output at every clock from the divider, the divider should be implemented by LUT, however, its hardware size will be bigger and bigger as the precision level is increased. In this paper, a new image scaling algorithm is presented for a arbitrary scaling ratio, which do not requires a general-purpose or LUT-based divider. The proposed algorithm utilizes only comparators and adders such that the hardware size can be reduced by 1/10 compared to the conventional approaches.

In this paper, self-similar characteristics over statistical approaches and real-time Ethernet network traffic measurements are estimated. It is also shown that the self-similar traffic reflects real Ethernet traffic chareacteristics by comparing TCP-MT source model which is exactly self-similar model to the traditional Poisson model.

The technology of direction finding is very important to find the direction of emitters for ELINT(electronic intelligence) system. The principle of TDOA(time difference of arrival) is to receive an emitter signal with two antennas, measure the time difference between two antennas, and converse the time difference to direction difference. This technology can be used in broadband frequency system and make the system very simple because a phase-discriminator and a voltage comparator are not needed. Study on Influence of Rotor Temperature Variation on the Performance of Maximum Torque Per Amp Control Strategy

Rotor temperature variation is a significant issue in the design of induction motor controls. In the literature, numerous studies have mentioned significant performance degradation due to rotor temperature variation unless it is taken into account. However, those studies have mainly focused on field-oriented control in terms of tracking performance. There was little research about the influence of rotor temperature variation on performance particularly in the case of optimal controls such as maximum torque per amp (MTPA) control strategy. This work investigates how to affect the performance of maximum torque per amp (MTPA) control strategy as rotor temperature varies in time. To this end, investigation was carried out in two ways to see whether the objective of MTPA control strategy is achieved regardless of rotor temperature variation. It is to produce a desired torque with the minimum possible stator current at the same time. Laboratory experiment shows that tracking performance and maximum torque per amp condition is significantly affected by rotor temperature variation as rotor temperature varies, thus ending up with performance degradation of MTPA control.
The Study of Monitoring System for Enhancement Electrical Point-machine Maintenance

An electric point-machine which changes over a turnout so that it enables a train to be operated in the routine that a train is to proceed has been installed and used in most of the railways such as not only urban railways but also main-line railways. Most of the maintenance works in this electric point-machine is that the maintenance workers manually measure motor power, control power and display power in the site with the use of portable counters. Especially in case of NS or NS-AM electric point machine, the maintenance cycle is so frequent that during the operation casualty accidents caused by carelessness occurs as well as more staff is required for this measurement. In this paper we propose a system for monitoring the state of electric point machine installed in the site to improve maintenance efficiency and it is expected that this monitoring system confirms any measured values on electric point machines in real-time and improves maintenance efficiency.
X-Band FMCW RADAR Signal Processing for small ship

Conventional marine radar systems utilize pulse radar which is capable of high-power transmissions and is effective for remote detection purposes. A pulse radar is most commonly used on medium or large vessels due to its expensive installation and maintenance costs. I propose the use of a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar system operated at low-power and high-resolution instead of the conventional pulse-radar based system. The transmitted and received signals of the FMCW radar system were theoretically analyzed and radar signal processing design and simulation experiments were performed to detect the range and speed. Intermediate Frequency (IF) signal mixed with virtual transmit and receive signals were generated to perform FMCW radar signal processing simulations where the IF signal underwent noise reduction through a lowpass filter. The maximum frequency was derived through the sample interval of the FFT size instead of using A/D converter. This maximum frequency was used to get the frequency range and frequency speed which were in turn used to calculate the range and speed. The virtual beat frequency generated using MATLAB is utilized to analyze the beat frequency used in the actual FMCW radar system signal processing. The differences in the range and speed of the beat frequency signals are processed and analyzed.
A Study on the Voltage Regulation Method Based on Artificial Neural Networks for Distribution Systems Interconnected with Distributed Generation

This paper deals with the optimal on-line real time voltage regulation methods in power distribution systems interconnected with the Distributed Generation(DG) systems. In order to deliver suitable voltage to as many customers as possible, the optimal sending voltage should be decided by the effective voltage regulation method by using artificial neural networks to consider the rapid load variation and random operation characteristics of DG systems. The results from a case study show that the proposed method can be a practical tool for the voltage regulation in distribution systems including many DG systems.
Analysis of Polarization and Beam Tilt Characteristics of Single Arm Spiral Antenna by Varying Length and Feed

In this paper, a single arm spiral antenna has been investigated about the characteristics of polarization and tilt beam. If a circumference length of spiral is bigger than a wavelength, it have a characteristic of varying maximum radiation beam direction. In addition, circular polarizations (RHCP, LHCP) can be variable by the feeding points (inner, outer). Also maximum beam directions tilt in different direction according to the circular polarizations, LHCP and RHCP. These characteristics of single arm spiral antenna are able to apply in the beam forming, diversity, MIMO application which has dual polarization using an antenna element.

Recently, people seek to recognize organizationally and cross sectionally the period work of a company such as manufacturing, retail, distribution, accounting, and personnel management in order to maximize company profit. Also, the ERP system, which is used as a management concept for plan management designed to optimize the utilization of management resources in an enterprise like manner, has been introduced for the same purpose. This study has examined the ERP system, which has been currently set up, for the parent company, S. The study has evidentially analyzed the system efficiency and satisfaction level of customers by examining implementation effects after onsite application and by seeking ways of improvement after recognizing the difficulty linked with use discovered after onsite application of the system and rejection by customers by conducting a questionnaire survey.
Framework Implementation for Improvement of Game Logic Portability

As game industry is growing, the desire for game that has more fresh and various contents is bigger. However software framework for this is not exist. Middlewares for certain game technologies, like 3D engine, physics engine, are in matured step, but it is very hard to see the framework for the flow of game-logic. This paper proposes Game-Logic Engine, the software framework for design and implementation of game-logic, implements a prototype of game logic engine. Game-logic flows for various game genre are easily described and combined by the Game-Logic Engine.

To secure superiority in keen competition among ports and to satisfy demands of shippers and shipping companies who are a main customer of ports, logistics service should be improved. However, most of dissatisfaction for logistics service arises from frequent transportation changes of shippers and inaccuracy of cargo-working information offered from shipping companies and inaccuracy of cargo information carried in from carriers. Therefore, the study embodied BPR and yard management prototype system on the basis of the process of business flow in yard to settle the above problems. The study also checked that information of booking list in a yard-allocated plan could be applied to forming efficient collaborative supply networking in yard management by supplementing insufficient cargo.
Development of Ubiquitous-based Monitoring Service System

In this paper, we developed u-Care service system using technologies of USN and LBS to help construct social welfare infrastructure and social safety net for lone seniors and handicapped people. This service not only monitors the in-house and outdoor activities of those disabled people but also sends the messages, whenever abnormal behaviors are detected, to the people related to them as well as the social welfare organizations and public safety institutions such as police and emergency services and etc in order to alert them.
Implementation of Policy Based MANET Management System based on Active PDP Discovery

The PBNM on MANET is being researched to ensure the reliability and efficiency between mobile nodes. Therefore, it is essential to determine the cluster effectively which will perceive the movements of nodes and distribute the policies. In PBNM mechanism, to determine the node cluster for PDP and manage PEP nodes, Active PDP Discovery Protocol is proposed as a mechanism which is more efficient than preexistent techniques. While k-hop cluster selects the PEP nodes which PDP node manages, Active PDP Discovery actively selects the PDP node among the moving PEP node. This method prevents orphan nodes that are not connected to PDP and reduces continual broadcasting messages. This paper implements Active PDP Discovery which determines cluster in the real networks and analyzes its capability, expanding COPS-PR to detect the movement of nodes and adding MNL to PDP node.
A Naming Application Model for Sensor Networks

The purpose of this paper is to introduce Naming application model for sensor networks. Currently, sensor networks comprised of sensor nodes have provided an application range which could not function before. However, unlike general network, current sensor networks are designed to cooperate with major wireless-capable sensor devices with limited resources. Thus, exporting/importing between individual sensor and current sensor networks is very inefficient and unstable. Attribute, schema and DIT(Directory Information Tree) must be designed for sensor network using SN LDAP application model in order to maintain transparency and provide constant service in a situation of data defect. With the system explained as above, Naming application model is made to manage SN Fuzzy Query. It shall be more efficient and stable structure as long as Naming application using a virtual equation in a certain environment with information collected from sensor node is provided. In this paper, I would like to introduce SN Fuzzy LDAP model for sensor network by quick Naming method. Also, naming application which is possible for fuzzy query in a certain environment based on the system will be proved.
A Real-time Intelligent Home Network Control System

The real-time intelligent home network control system is the system which can control and monitor intelligent home network anytime and anywhere with mobile devices. In this study, to embody the real-time control system for intelligent home network, I designed the sub-module which can control various USN senses with using ZigBee, and organized the GUI environment into the client module to drive by users with mobiles devices.

This paper describes the problem of existing maintenance system for mail sorting machnies, and presents to-be considerations of maintenance system based on AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) analysis with efficiency and economic aspects. There are standard procedure for diagnosis and repair of mail sorting machine as preventive and operational maintenance, roles and missions of maintenance technical support center for upgrade of maintenance skill in this paper. The proposed maintenance system will be adapted for more safety and efficiency maintenance of mail sorting machine.

Automatic semiconductor manufacturing systems are demanded to improve the efficiency of the semiconductor production process. These systems include the functionalities such as the analysis and management schemes for very large real-time data in order to enhance the productivities. So, it requires the efficient storage management system to store very large real-time data. Traditional database management systems(e.g. Oracle, MY-SQL, MS-SQL) are based on disk. However, previous DBMS`s have the limitation on the low storing performance. In this paper, we propose a compress-merge storing method of very large real-time data using insert transaction of a block unit. The proposed method shows better processing performances compare to conventional DBMS`s. Also compress-merge method makes it possible that it can store large real-time data on low storage cost. Therefore, the proposed method can be applied to an efficient storage management system in the semiconductor production process.

Distribution, duplication and manipulation of the digital contents are very easy due to the characteristics of the digital contents. Thus, damages of invasion of property right rapidly increase due to infringement of copyright for the digital contents. To prevent illegal use and to settle conflict about ownership of the digital contents, continuous efforts with enormous expense are devoted. In this paper, we design and implement real-time audio watermarking system to protect ownership and copyright for the digital contents. The proposed system also clarifies where the responsibility about the illegal distribution lies. The system has convenient user interface so that general administrator without an expert knowledge of the protection of copyright can use easily. In addition, unlike the traditional watermarking system, our system has merit to offer information about the illegal distribution for clear post-management.
Minimum LQI based On-demand Routing Protocol for Sensor Networks

A number of on-demand routing protocols for sensor networks have been proposed yet. However, the majority of proposed on-demand routing protocols for sensor networks are not suitable for a relatively poor wireless environment and sensor applications requiring reliable data transmission due to using a hop-count metric for their protocols. In this paper, we proposed a minimum LQI(Link Quality Indicator) based on-demand sensor network routing protocol that is suitable for a relatively poor wireless environment and implemented the proposed routing protocol on a TinyOS. We also compared the implemented protocol with typical hop count based routing protocol by carrying out performance experiments on a multi-hop testbed. The results from these experiments showed that the successful transmission rate of the proposed routing protocol is higher than that of typical hop count based routing protocol over a poor wireless link.

A method for performing Boolean resubstitution is proposed. This method is efficiently implemented using division matrix. It begins by creating an algebraic division matrix from given two logic expressions. By introducing Boolean properties and adding literals into the algebraic division matrix, we make the Boolean division matrix. Using this extended division matrix, Boolean substituted expressions are found. Experimental results show the improvements in the literal counts over well-known logic synthesis tools for some benchmark circuits.

The interest on the recovery of thermal energy using the waste has been rising to solve the problems of continuous increase of waste generation and the depletion of the fossil fuel recently. A new alpha function proposed by Twu et al was used for an accurate prediction of pure component vapor pressure experimental data. One fluid mixing rules were used for the estimation of mixture vapor-liquid equilibria calculations. A commercial process simulator, PRO/II with PROVISION was utilized for the simulation of the overall refrigeration process. In order to minimize the compressor power consumption, we have optimized the two-stage compression system by varying the first stage compressor outlet pressure. Finally, we could obtain the minimum total power 755.7kW at the first stage compressor outlet pressure, 6 bar.
Chemical Effects on Head Loss across Containment Sump Strainer under Post-LOCA Environment

A test apparatus has been fabricated to simulate chemical effect on head loss through a strainer in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) containment water pool after a loss of coolant accident (LOCA). Tests were conducted under condition of same ratio of strainer surface area to water volume between the test appratus and the containment sump. A series of tests have been performed to investigate the effects of spray, existence of calcium-silicate with tri-sodium phosphate (TSP), and composition of materials. The results showed that head loss across the chemical bed with even a small amount of calcium-silicate insulation instantaneously increased as soon as TSP was added to the test solution. Also, the head loss across the test screen is strongly affected by spray duration and is increased rapidly at the early stage, because of high dissolution and precipitation of aluminum and zinc. After passivation of aluminum and zinc by corrosion, the head loss increase is much slowed down and is mainly induced by materials such as calcium, silicon, and magnesium leached from NUKONTM and concrete. Furthermore, it is newly found that the spay buffer agent, tri-sodium phosphate, to form protective coating on the aluminum surface and reduce aluminum leaching is not effective for a large amount of aluminum and a long spray.

-coated silica-bead were conducted in order to solve a deactivation problem of bead that had been invented for decomposition of pollutants in aqueous solution. Surface cleansing was selected as the recycling method for used beads. The surface cleansing was done with four different solutions such as distilled water, surfactant, acetone, and ethyl alcohol(ethanol). The recycling process consists of cleansing and calcination. The elutriation characteristics of particle size distribution were investigated in a gas-solid fluidized bed. Experiments were carried out with the mulit-sized particles of Gaussian distributions. The elutriation rate constant obtained from the experiment was correlated with the standard deviation of particle size and the dimensionless group of the velocity ratio. The standard deviation of pressure fluctuation, mean pressure, major frequency and power spectrum density function were calculated by pressure fluctuation properties. Size distribution of elutriated particles and pressure fluctuations were measured for the particle size distribution of particle system depended largrly on the size distribution. Characteristics of fluidization and elutriation were greatly influenced by the particle size distribution and these characteristics could be interpreted with pressure fluctuation properties.

In this paper, we designed and manufactured HD Switch Panel parts with micro-etched pattern. By using CAE analysis, we could predict weld-line positions and the amount of shrinkage during injection molding process. We measured the temperature distribution of the mold surface so that we could optimize the processing conditions such as mold temperature. In order to increase the transcription of micro-etched pattern, we applied the E-Mold technology and evaluated the effect of mold temperature on the surface quality. We concluded that the etched pattern was improved(more than 2.5
1.5~1.7) through the measurement of surface gloss and the observation of both SEM and SPM images.
Pore Water Pressure Characteristic of Unsaturated Weathered Granite Soil Slopes through Rainfall Simulation

This present study implemented a rainfall simulation system, and performed simulation and numerical analysis according to rainfall and slope conditions using a model slope built with weathered granite soil. Extensive analysis were conducted on the characteristics of changes in volumetric water content and pore water pressure measured in the simulation, and compared them with the results of numerical analysis. It took longer for the volumetric water content to reach the limit when rainfall intensity was high and the slope was steep and shorter when rainfall intensity was low and the slope was gentle. When rainfall intensity was low and the duration of rainfall was short, negative pore water pressure was higher and the time for restoration was shorter. On the contrary, when rainfall intensity was high and the duration of rainfall was long, it took a longer time to restore negative pore water pressure. In the results of rainfall simulation and numerical analysis, the distribution of volumetric water content and pore water pressure was similar between the two. However, the volumetric water content was different by up to 5%, and pore water pressure by up to 3kPa.

The objective of the present study lies in providing the method to construct the precision population-statistical map for statistical demographics making full advantage of GIS and the national census data in an attempt to improve accuracy and reliability of population estimation applicable for a variety of location analysis. More specifically, it adopts the multiple regression analysis by segmented land use type(biotope) taking into account that the land use diversified as residence, commercial and office areas has the close connectivity and interdependence with population. Based on the analyzed result above, the study finalizes the modeling to construct demographic map with higher precision by prioritizing the population density by weight value and then re-distributing the population according to jurisdictional dong`s and types of use for the land. The study consequently is expected to be conducive to improving precision and reliability rather than the existing method for population estimation widely acceptable thus far.

The purpose of this research is to develop a model of teacher education system in u-Learning age. To achieve the purpose, first, the current teacher education system was analyzed. Second, ubiquitous technologies which could be used in future teacher education system were analyzed. Third, functions of ubiquitous technologies supporting communication between the elements of teacher education system were explored based on the analysis of the technologies. Forth, researchers analyzed pre-service teachers` understanding, needs, and demands for the future teacher education system in u-Learning age. The model of teacher education system which is appropriate for u-Learning age was proposed based on the results of analyses. The developed model could help to educate pre-service teachers who will lead the education in u-Learning age.

The purpose of this study is to examine the positive effects of gratitude training on grateful disposition, life satisfaction, affective well-being, and self-esteem for Korean middle school students. 77 third graders of middle school in Gyeonggido participated in this 4-week experimental study. They were divided into 39 for an experimental and 38 for a controlled group. In an experimental exercise, participants were instructed to write their blessing down on their gratitude notebooks. On the other hand, in a controlled exercise, participants were instructed to write about their career, invention and English story by school programs. The results of the study are as follows; After gratitude training participants showed significant increase in grateful disposition, subjective well-being and self-esteem. This study showed that gratitude training is effective to middle school students in terms of their grateful disposition, subjective well-being and self-esteem.

This research was about influence on parenting by parent attachment. The subjects were W university students 223 of Jeon-buk province. The questionnaire included Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment(IPPA) and parenting perception. Data were analyzed by Pearson`s correlation and Stepwise. The findings were as follows: First, the relationship between parent(mother and father) attachment and parenting perception was found to a positive relationship. especially, communication and reliability of parent attachment. But between isolation of parent attachment and parenting perception was found to a negative relationship. Second, the parenting perception influenced by father`s reliability among of parent attachment and the next was mother`s communication.

A Study on the Efforts of Technological Innovation by Academia-Industrial Collaboration for Venture Businesses

This paper aims to study the effect of academia-industrial cooperation on the technical innovation of small and medium-sized companies. A survey was conducted on about 1,100 businesses located in the Sihwa-Banwol industrial estate to analyze the consequence of three factors of academia-industrial cooperation. the joint use of equipments, technological support of universities to businesses, and cooperative technological development through technical guidance-on entrepreneurial capability and their knowledge-absorption ability, and ultimately on their technological innovation,. The validity of the survey result was tested through the Structural Equation Model. On the basis of the comparison between companies which have participated in academy-industry cooperation and companies which have not, this paper suggests that venture businesses should take advantage of the cooperation with universities to boost their competitiveness. The analysis of the three individual factors of the academy-industry cooperation based on the Structural Equation Model shows that all of them have remarkable influence on entrepreneurial capability, but that they don`t have as much impact on businesses` knowledge absorption ability. However, the outcome of technological innovation of businesses is primarily influenced by entrepreneurial capability rather than their knowledge absorption ability. The survey also shows that the three factors of the cooperation have an equal impact on the competitiveness of companies regardless of their business type or their products` growth stages. As the companies involved in academy industry cooperation outweigh other businesses, in terms of technological innovation, the numbers of new product development, and the numbers of their process improvement cases, this paper argues that new strategies should be taken for the businesses to fully take advantage of academy-industry cooperation.
An Exploratory Study on the Effects of Behavioral Characteristics and Networking Activity of Entrepreneurs of Venture Businesses upon Entrepreneurial Performance

Recently, the potential of advanced studies is being highlighted that the networking activity of entrepreneurs of venture businesses influences successful foundation. Given this background, this study intends to make an exploratory study on the influence of self-efficacy of the entrepreneur`s cognitive characteristic and patience with ambiguity of the psychological characteristic upon networking activity, and the components of networking activity upon entrepreneurial performance. It was tested with sample of responses to the questionnaires for 156 entrepreneurs of venture businesses which are under 3 years since they were founded. Findings of this study are as follows: First, the entrepreneur`s self-efficacy was shown to have a significant effect on networking and entrepreneurial performance. Second, patience with ambiguity was shown not to have a significant effect on networking and entrepreneurial performance. Third, networking was shown to have an effect on entrepreneurial performance, and among the components of networking activity, network frequency and reliability were shown to significantly influence entrepreneurial performance, while network range was shown not to have a significant effect on it. Therefore, for performance improvement of start-up enterprises, rather self-efficacy of the entrepreneur`s cognitive characteristic than the psychological characteristic seems more important. Also, with a practical suggestion that for the networking activity of entrepreneurs of venture businesses, network frequency and reliability may have a more critical effect rather on entrepreneurial performance than network range, the limitation and direction of this study are presented.
A Case Study on Entrepreneurial Motivations of Independent Creative Firms

Continued jobless growth in economy, coupled with the current economic recession, is aggravating the situation of job market. In order to create more jobs and reduce the economic gap in a society, an independent creative firm of a sole entrepreneurs is suggested as an alternative mean. Understanding entrepreneurial motivations of a sole entrepreneur will be helpful in developing educational programs on starting an independent creative firm and in establishing a relevant government policy. This study, therefore, proposes a new model on entrepreneurial motivations in the independent creative firm and performs case study. The results of the study show that the personal environment and the personal characteristics of entrepreneurs have much effects on motivation of starting the independent creative firms. Among the personal environments, entrepreneurs` educational backgrounds, work experiences, and personal networks have great influences on entrepreneurial motivations. The processes of sustained entrepreneurship involve: (a) the determination of business ideas and goals, (b) the inception of a new business and managerial activities, (c) the entrepreneur`s assessment of both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards of business performances, and (d) the adjustment of business ideas and goals in accordance with the results of the assessment. The results of the study could be applied in developing educational programs and consulting guidelines on independent creative firms and in establishing government`s supportive policies on the firm.

The aim of the current study is to look at the mediating effects of structural features (i.e. decentralization, formalization, and specialization) on the relationship between product variety and the performance of product family. This study investigates the impact of decentralization and formalization for platform and derivative projects separately and in the context of the performance of the product family as a whole, as opposed to individual projects. In addition to relationships between people and groups, the current study considers physical element of an organization such as geographical location in which business tasks are conducted. The current study focuses on spatial differentiation which refers to the number of different sites or locations operated by an organization. Based on a cross-industry sample of 103 Korean manufacturers, this study examines the role of organizational structure features in which firms successfully increase product variety. The study examines that formalization in platform projects and decentralization in derivative projects enhance high variety firms` product family performance. The study finds significant mediating effect of spatial proximity on the relationship between product variety and product family performance.
A study on the experimental model of supplementary measures for food safety certification system of GAP

There are two major problems with current National GAP system. One was false in traceability record because it was written or inputted by farmers or distributers and no other measures to check the accuracy was valid. The other was incapability of tracking back and recalling the contaminated agricultural products. For solving these matters, IT convergence model which combined information technology with agricultural experience is elaborated. In IT convergence model, video analytic system classifies every activity depending on the pre-programmed farming process and create the traceability data automatically. Also real time trace system based on USN would solve the problem of tracking back. This system transmits the present location and monitors data of agricultural products from farm to table at all times.

The learning organization project has been successful thanks to the members` zeal and consensus to change the processes. However, not every learning team has been so successful. Some cases complained time consuming where others expect to be helpful for their incentives. The researchers concluded that the most important point for success of the learning organization project should be the support of top management.

RFID system, which tries to identify a information of the tag using the wireless transmission, has been used to recognize long distance. However, each RFID system uses different way for individual needs. So, it is might not be compatible with the each system using a little different way. Also there is a trouble to freely use the protocols between the one tag and the other reader. So we tested a various RFID tags and readers to use the designed system with several protocols. Therefore, this paper shows that we designed and realized of the testing system for RF characteristics test as well as protocol analysis.
A Study on the Relationship between Body Composition, Exercise Status, Fitness Status and Bone Mineral Density in Some Rural Residents

This study was performed to be used as basic data to preventive the osteoporosis of a rural community people, after finding out the bone mineral density and a state of health, that of exercise, body composition and basic physical strength of the rural community adult. the subject for 143 adults of a rural community, the relation between bone mineral density and a state of health, that of exercise, body measurement and basic physical strength was studied. The research results were as follows. 1. In survey subjects, the more the age increased(p<0.01) and the lower the educational level was, the lower bone mineral density was(p<0.05). 2. Bone mineral density was significantly lower in those who had chronic diseases than those who didn`t (p<0.05). 3. Bone mineral density was significantly higher in those who had much weight, BMI, body fat mass, and fat-free mass than those who didn`t(p<0.01). 4. Bone mineral density was significantly high in those who exercised in the past, whose basal metabolism was high, and whose muscle mass was much(p<0.05). 5. Bone mineral density was high in those who had much grasping power and a number of sit-ups and push-ups (p<0.01). 6. As a result of Multiple Regression Analysis in which BMD was a dependent variable, the more the age increased, the more the score of bone density decreased when they had chronic diseases. And the exercise of the past affected the increase of bone mineral density.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility of field operation protocol for cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) in person with non-traumatic arrest. This study was performed from May 1 through June 27, 2008, and subjects were 150 students who are attending the department of Emergency Medical Service in J and K universities which located in Jeollabuk-do and Jeollanam-do areas. Practical conformance was verified using by nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. This study divided into two groups; experimental group that employed field operation protocol and control group that applied conventional CPR protocol, and comparative analyzed statistically the necessary time of the items of each protocol. The results indicated that each performance time of 18 items was reduced over 3 seconds except 5 items(assessment of consciousness, airway control, two times of artificial respiration, check of circulation, and five cycles of CPR). And time of 6 items(intubation, peripheral intravenous line, reassessment of consciousness, pupil reaction, carotid artery pulse, and vital sign) was minimized more than 60 seconds, and total performing time was shortened 110.85 seconds. Changes of Contrast Sensitivity According to Light Transmittance of Color Lenses

This paper attempted to suggest the standards of light transmittance based on the analysis of the changes in contrast sensitivity of photopic condition according to the light transmittance of tinted lenses. The subjects of the experiment were 24 male and 13 female adults with normal ocular functions. They were asked to wear four tinted lenses (gray, brown, red, and green) in turn. The light transmittance of the lenses were 80~90%, 60~80%, 43~60%, and 30~43%, respectively. Contrast sensitivities were measured by using F.A.C.T. chart. The results showed that contrast sensitivities were decreased in proportion to the decrease of the light transmittance, and visual sensitivity of brown lenses were the highest and that of red lenses were the lowest. The results of the experiments suggested that the light transmittance should be over 38% for brown, gray and green lenses, and over 52% for red lenses. Accordingly the appropriate light transmittance should be considered when tinted lenses are selected for the purpose of eye protection in everyday life.
A Study on Wound Care Knowledge and Concerns of Patients at Discharge

This study was done to examine patients` wound care knowledge and concerns prior to discharge from a tertiary hospital. The participants in this descriptive survey were 112 patients having wounds. During interview, a structured self-administered questionnaire was filled out. The participants were 71 males and 41 females. Wound types were surgical incision (52.7%), percutaneous wound (26.8%), pressure ulcer (9.8%) and diabetic foot and arterial ulcers (5.4%). Their wound care knowledge was 52.0% of correct answer and the mean of concerns (range 1-7) was 2.79. There was no significant correlation between their knowledge and concerns of wound care. The factors influence on wound care concerns were fear of wound care, wound pain, length of hospital stays, and perceived health condition. This findings showed that discharge patients with a wound had some incorrect knowledge and various concerns about wound care. They may help to direct patient teaching in discharge plan.
A Study on Utilization of non-residential areal hospitals in Inpatient

Our study was carried out to suggest the way of improving the accessibility of medical service through identifying the factors that make patients be hospitalized in non-residential area not in their residential area. The subjects were 523,782 inpatients of the 2005 Patient Survey data. The 2004 Hospital Evaluation data, the 2005 census data which were obtained from the Korean National Statistics Office, and the 2006 Survey on National Healthcare Resources data were used. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square test and logistic regression in a SAS program. The most important factor was quality level of care of local hospitals. In the possibility of being hospitalized in non-residential areas, the region with the score of more than 9.5 per 100,000 people in the hospital evaluation was 8.3 times more than the region with the score of less than 9.5. However patients is hospitalized in the area with the hospitals with above 910 beds per 100,000 people more than in the area with the hospitals with less than 910 beds by 2.0 times. For the accessibility of medical services, government policy should focus on improving the quality of care in local hospitals not on increasing and distributing health care resources.
The Research for the measurement of satisfaction and adaptation of the student of dental hygiene department

The survey of the 856 students of the dental hygiene departments in 6 universities in Gyunggi, Kangwon, Chungnam, Gyungbuk, and Gyungnam region was carried out. The purpose of the survey is to find their satisfaction measurement with the department and how they recognize the dental hygienist as well as why they selected the dental hygiene department when they applied for university. The result, analyzed by SPSS 15.0, statistically shows that the measurement of satisfaction by each academic year represents the meaningful difference (P<0.05) in all variables such as the "satisfaction with people", "satisfcation with lectures", "satisfaction with facilities", "satisfaction with activities", and "satisfaction with the department characteristic". The measurement of satisfaction by the decision-making factor for the department selection shows the meaningful difference (P<0.05) in the variables of "satisfaction with lectures", "satisfaction with activities", and "satisfaction with the department characteristic". In the case of the measurement of satisfaction with counselling by each academic year, the 3rd year student shows the highest in the career counselling. All the groups recognize for this question as "higher" or "yes", while the higher academic year students were gradually less satisfied. In the case of the level of recognition by each academic year, the 1st year student shows high in the variables of "practical work recognition" and "vocation recognition" and the difference among groups shows statistically meaningful difference(P<0.05).

This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between maximum oxygen uptake and its related factors including body measurement and vascular compliance. The subjects of our study were 43 males and 53 females aged 40 to 59 who were visited in military health center. The main results were that 1.the degree of obesity had significantly negative correlation to vascular compliance in male, and waist-hip ratio in female. 2. The degree of obesity, body mass index, waist-hip ratio and body fat percent had significantly negative correlation to maximum oxygen uptake in male, and waist-hip ratio & body fat percent in female. 3. Maximum heart rate had significantly positive correlation to maximum oxygen uptake in male, and vascular compliance & maximum heart rate in female. 4. In multiple regression analysis which maximum oxygen uptake was as dependent variable, body fat percent, vascular compliance and maximum heart rate were significant variables for both male and female. In conclusion, Maximum oxygen uptake of some rural people age 40 to 59 were affected by various factors such as body fat percent, vascular compliance, and maximum heart rate.

The aims of this study is to medical record data warehouse which had been collected from hospital information systems. continuous patient 2,118 60.5%, informally patient 1,385 39.5%. In using survival factors sex, age, area, insurance, admission-course, medical treatment, out-patient lesson, out-patient form, conference diagnosis, operation, cancer, medical reservation. As a result of making a predictive modeling using the logistic regression, the fitness of the predictive modeling of informally patient was 66.0% and neural network, the predictive was 66.72% and CHAID, the predictive was 63.25%, which is a data mining. The expected modeling of the informally patients, the hospital through the continuous patient management and trust of hospital.
Antihypertensive activity of KR-31081, an orally active nonpeptide AT1 receptor antagonist

The pharmacological profile of KR-31081, a newly synthesized AT1 receptor antagonist, was evaluated in pithed rats, conscious renal hypertensive rats (RHRs) and conscious furosemide-treated beagle dogs. In pithed rats, KR-31081 (i.v.) induced a non-parallel right shift in the dose-pressor response curve to angiotensin II (ID50: 0.05 mg/kg) with a dose-dependent reduction in the maximum responses; this antagonistic effect was about 40 times more potent than losartan (ID50: 1.74 mg/kg) which showed competitive antagonism. KR-31081 did not alter the responses induced by other agonists such as norepinephrine and vasopressin. In RHRs, orally given KR-31081 produced a dose-dependent and long-lasting (>24 h) antihypertensive effect with a higher potency to losartan (ED20: 0.30 and 3.36 mg/kg, respectively). In furosemide-treated dogs, orally given KR-31081 produced a dose-dependent and long-lasting (>8h) antihypertensive effect with a rapid onset of action (time to Emax: 1-1.5 h) and 20-fold greater potency than losartan (ED20: 0.41 and 8.13 mg/kg, respectively). These results suggest that KR-31081 is a potent, orally active AT1 receptor antagonist useful for the research and diagnostic tools as an added exploratory potential.
A Study on the Characteristics of Prematurely Discharged Patients and Establishing a Model for Predicting Prematurely Discharged Patients -Using Data Mining-

This research was based on the purpose of establishing predicted model of prematurely discharged patients using the mandatory information data, recorded in the medical institutes based on discharged patients of a University Hospital for the period of 1 year, from July. The result showed that the regression analysis model was the most excellent method of application model for preventing discharged patients, and when this is applied to discharged patients who are outpatients, the possibility of discharge can be less than staying in the emergency room. In addition, based on threshold 0.7, when we expect the discharged patients, out of 920 discharged patients, the actual patients who are discharged can become 136, showing the extract effectiveness of 14.78%. Based on the perspective of lift value, compared to random extract, this is 2.9 times (14.78/5.15) more effective.
Relationship between Job Stress contents, Depression in dental hygienists in D City

The degree of depression of dental hygienist was analyzed to reveal the various factors related to them. The self-administered between June 1st, and 30st, 2009, questionnaires were filled out from 221 dental hygienist in D City. 1.The distribution for depression degree has shown the rate as 79.1% in normal range group, 15.4% in mild depression group, 4.1% in moderate depression group and 1.4% in severe depression group, 2.As for depression, junior college, lower salary, poor sense satisfaction in work, not fit to the job, low personal relation with peer works or supervisors, poor subjective condition of health, without regular eating habits, without alcohol drinking, without regular exercise, in the group with higher level of job demand, lower job autonomy and lower supervisor support than their respective counterparts. 3.Concerning correlation between depression and various factors, while level of depression correlated with was negatively sense satisfaction, fit to the job, personal relation with peer works or supervisors, subjective condition of health, spervisor support, coworker support, it was positively correlated with job demand. Resulting from these results, in order to resolve depression properly, implementation and maintenance of program should be renewed to improve various kinds of factors.
Effect of Other Medications on the Stability of Omeprazole in Aqueous Solution for the Peptic Ulcer Disease

The stability of omeprazole in the aqueous solutions containing loxoprofen or Sodium bicarbonate was examined at room temperature. Loxoprofen or Sodium bicarbonate (60 mg) was added to omeprazole (600
/ml) solution to check the stability profile. Then, the solution was kept at room temperature for 80 hours. The concentration was assayed at each concentration by stability-indicating High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method. Aliquots of the solution were withdrawn at specified time intervals and assayed by chromatographic analysis for intact omeprazole. The relation between omeprazole concentration and peak area was linear from 5 to 160
/ml. The analysis method was precise with relative standard deviation (% RSD) no greater than 3.05 %. The remaining percentage-time curves revealed that omeprazole was degraded rapidly as functions of time and temperature following pseudo first-order kinetics. In conclusion, the stability of omeprazole was significantly affected by liquid solutions mixed with alkalizer (Sodium carbonate) or the NSAIDs (loxoprofen).

Sixteen moderate atopic dermatitis patients were treated with applying toner and cream using estern medical herbs[Estern medical complex(Radix Glycyrrhizae, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Fructus ponciri Seu Aurantii Immaturus, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Radix Puerariae, Rhizoma Corydalis), Cypress, Green tea, Radix Astragali, Red ginseng, Syrup ferment, Apple ferment filtrate] on the atopic area 2-3 times per day for 6 weeks. After 6 weeks of study, the result was a decrease in SCORAD index(

(p<0.01)) maintaining skin pH level. The patient;s and physician`s global assessment also improved. Therefore, estern medical herbs may play a role in treatment of atopic dermatitis.

A Study on Effective Adjustment of the Curriculum in Film and Film Related Major in Korean Colleges

Before 1990`s, Korea had only few colleges that had film and film related majors. As Korean film industry started its marvelous improvement in both commercial and artistic phase, many colleges were interested in this new academic field. They hurried up to launch this new and profitable major; as a result, Korea now has more than hundred colleges and universities that has film related majors. Each college enumerates numbers of academic courses that may look reasonable; they have almost every course a fine film school should provide such as film theory, production, and performance in film. Lots of film schools offer lots of film courses; and they look alike. One unique thing in film major is its vast sub fields and categories. After you decide to study film, you have to select what specific field in film you want to study. Studying film theory and film production can be as different as majoring physics and physical education. The problem Korean colleges are dealing with is that there are too much film schools, and moreover those colleges have similar curriculums that just look like a department store that sells everything. One suggestion is specializing its curriculum in which the school can take advantages using their special conditions. San Francisco Art Institute is one of United States well known private film schools, but many people remember this school as a specialized film school in experimental film. San Francisco where this school is located has had many liberal and experimental artists as the city has been supporting and offering them an environment they can concentrate their work. Naturally, the school has world famous faculty members in experimental film, and students who want to study and make experimental film come to this school from all over the world because they know this school would be the best to study experimental film. There are many film schools in metro Los Angeles area; since its location near Hollywood, no wonder these schools concentrate on film producing and film production. They take advantage of their geographical location to hire film industry professional and to focus on commercial feature film productions. What we can do now to adjust the curriculum in film and film related major in Korean colleges is to adapt new standards in this changed film industry. One school can emphasize digital production while another school focuses on digital intermediate process. But if one school tries to both fields or all fields of film major just like we have done so far, the school could not take care of all the equipment and the faculty that the fields would need. Korean film schools should devide the field in film major and concentrate what they selected. Selection and concentration can be and should be applied in Korean film schools.
