An Experimental Study on Pressure Drop and Heat Transfer Coefficient of Laminar Ag Nanofluid Flow in Mini-Tubes

This study presents the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of Ag nanofluid in mini-tubes(outer diameters of 1/8inch, 3/16inch). Experiments were performed for Reynolds numbers ranged from 500 to 2,500 and nanofluid concentrations of 0.1 and 0.3vol.%. The pressure drop of nanofluid flow increased by max. 21% compared with that of distilled water. The heat transfer coefficients of the nanofluid of 0.1 vol.% enhanced 3~42% for 1/8inch tube, and 3~69% for 3/16inch tube. Also, the heat transfer coefficients of the nanofluid of 0.3 vol.% enhanced 35~65% for 1/8inch tube, and 62~125% for 3/16inch tube. From the results Ag nanofluid can be a better candidate as a coolant than distilled water when using in mechanical and/or electronic systems.
An Experimental and Numerical Study on the Fracture Behavior of Air conditioner Impellers

An air conditioner impeller has been used to suck the warm air and to blow the chilled air by the centrifugal force induced from the rotation of it. To check the possibility of the fracture due to resonance, both numerical and experimental approach was carried out. For the structural analysis, the commercial code ANSYS based on the Finite Element Method was employed. The possibility of the fracture is the resonance between the natural frequency of impeller and characteristic frequency due to the aerodynamic forces. Experiment was carried out to see the natural frequency and numerical analysis based on the Vortex Element Method is performed to get the characteristic frequency. Comparing the natural frequencies that are calculated as described, we believe that resonance occurs.
Identification of natural colored diamonds using UV fluorescent and X-ray Lang images

Due to recent development of high temperature high pressure(HTHP) diamond synthetic and treatment technology, we need to identify the natural diamonds fast, reliable, and economically. We proposed using new method of UV fluorescence and X-ray Lang topography imaging for distinguishing one synthetic diamond from four natural colored diamonds. We observe unique local stress field uneven image in synthetic diamond using UV fluorescence and Lang topography characterization, while uniform images in natural diamonds. Especially, X-ray Lang method offered the better identification power with better high resolution on stress field images.
The Effect of refrigerant pass & distribution in aluminum parallel flow heat exchanger

In this study, an analysis code was created for a 190*650*25-mm (W*H*D) parallel-flow evaporator, and research was done on how to increase the heat transfer rate of aluminum PF heat exchanger for application in IDU. After varying the R410A refrigerant up-down flow to two and three passes and the distribution ratio to 1:1:1 and 1:2:2, it was determined that the two-pass flow has a 30% higher partial heat transfer rate and a 25% lower heat transfer coefficient compared to the three-pass flow. As for the distribution ratios of the three-pass flow, 1:1:1 was found to have a lower refrigerant pressure loss than 1:2:2 distribution. It was assumed, though, that the refrigerant distribution had a uniform flow and that its value was thus overestimated in the actual case of maldistribution in each pass.
Computational Approach to Improve Coolant Flow Characteristics for the SI Engine

This study has been conducted to improve coolant flow pattern in the gasoline engine. Flow field has been calculated for the coolant passage mainly around the exhaust ports and valves. For the original model, a flow stagnant region has existed between exhaust valves of the second cylinder. To improve coolant flow characteristics, coolant passage area has been re-modeled and optimized. Furthermore, for the improved coolant core model, coolant passage under the exhaust manifold has been added to reduce exhaust-gas temperature. It was found that the flow through a gasket plays a critical role for the flow in the cylinder head and around exhaust valves. Finally, coolant flow around exhaust valves and in the cylinder head has been improved in terms of flow rate distribution.
Development of Pipe-Inserted Cast Die for Press Forming Process Using Ansys and LabView

Heating and cooling plate are separately used for heating and cooling cast dies for footwear parts. However, this has a disadvantage that it takes a long time to manufacture footwear parts etc.. In the present study, the pipe-inserted cast die for press forming process was proposed to substitute heating and cooling plate. The temperature distribution on the pipe-inserted cast die was analyzed by numerical work using a FEM. And its temperature was measured by LabView. A manufacturing by the pipe-inserted cast die for press forming process was effectively verified, especially in a productivity.
An Experimental Study on the Design Parameters of the Dashpot type MR fluid mount

This research proposed a dashpot type mount design using MR fluids, and investigated experimentally the influence of the design parameters of the dashpot MR fluid mount, which affect the damping forces of the dashpot MR fluid mount. In order to observe the influence, the dashpot MR fluid mount which have the different effective length and the core structure is manufactured. The variations of the resistance forces according to different effective lengths of the magnetic pole of MR fluid mount, along which magnetic field is defined, was investigated. It was founded that the resistance forces from the MR mount decreased with increased input frequencies, while increased with increased applied electric current intensities. Nevertheless, there is no appreciable change in the resistance forces with respect to the effective length variations of the magnetic pole of MR fluid mount.
Development of an Embedded Motion Controller based on the IEC 61131-3 International Standard Language

An embedded motion controller supporting the PLC programming environment based on the IEC 61131-3 International Standard Language was developed in this paper. In this developed motion controller, the CoDeSys, one of the IEC61131-3 development tools, was embedded in order to support that of PLC as well as the development environment of the PC, and the various function blocks based on PLCopen standard for motion control such as the linear and circular interpolation control were implemented. Moreover, the ethernet based remote control on real-time operating system and the motion simulator for a motion programmer were implemented.

This paper designed a robust control of an induction motor using a disturbance cancellation observer of a feedforward control. The speed response of conventional PI controller characteristic is affected by variations of load torque disturbance. In the proposed system, the speed control characteristic used a feedforward control which does not undergo the influence of the load torque disturbance. High speed calculation and processing for vector control is carried out by TMS320C31 digital signal processor. Validity of the proposed control method is verified through simulation and experimental result.
PR Controller Based Current Control Scheme for Single-Phase Inter-Connected PV Inverter

Nowadays, the PV systems have been focused on the interconnection between the power source and the grid. The PV inverter, either single-phase or three-phase, can be considered as the core of the whole system because of an important role in the grid-interconnecting operation. An important issue in the inverter control is the load current regulation. In the literature, the Proportional+Integral (PI) controller, normally used in the current-controlled Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), cannot be a satisfactory controller for an ac system because of the steady-sate error and the poor disturbance rejection, especially in high-frequency range. By comparison with the PI controller, the Proportional+Resonant (PR) controller can introduce an infinite gain at the fundamental ac frequency; hence can achieve the zero steady-state error without requiring the complex transformation and the dq-coupling technique. In this paper, a PR controller is designed and adopted for replacing the PI controller. Based on the theoretical analyses, the PR controller based control strategy is implemented in a 32-bit fixed-point TMS320F2812 DSP and evaluated in a 3kW experimental prototype Photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system (PCS). Simulation and experimental results are shown to verify the performance of implemented control scheme in PV PCS.
Analysis of Tuning Unit Characteristic for Track Circuit Maintenance Efficiency

The train control system used in Gyeongbu-line is classified in ATC, IXL and CTC. The ATC data related to speed and space control for trains are transmitted from wayside to onboard by way of UM71 AF track circuits and BSP Loop. The information transferred by track circuits is composed of operation data which directly influence to the train operation and the information transferred by BSP Loop is used in the section which requires the additional data transmission about the particular track-side environment such as tunnel, hot box detector or insulated section. In this paper, for the BA type turning unit of the UM71 AF track circuits which is mainly used in the linking section of existing and high-speed lines from the opening of the Gyeongbu line till the present, we not only analyze the characteristics of BA but also compare and analyze baseline values and the measured values. With this analysis, we will be able to propose how to solve the problems about operation and maintenance such as track circuit malfunctions of the relevant sections.
Development of a Wideband Power Sensor for the Measurement of Wireless Power

This paper describes the development of a power sensor for wireless signal over the ultra wideband range of 300~3800MHz with the detecting range of 150mW~150W. The proposed power sensor fundamentally has the function of not only detecting wireless power, but recognizing frequency and measuring VSWR. The development of the power sensor is completed through the design of dual directional coupler, design of power detector block which produces DC data using the corresponding RF input power level, and establishment of collecting the exact calibration data. The dual directional coupler has the operating frequency of 300~3800MHz with the 0.085dB of insertion loss, and directivity of 30dB at least at 3800MHz. The developed power sensor has the capability of power sensing with less than 0.25dB of resolution as well as measuring VSWR of 1.17~1.96 under the practical operating situation of very high power up to 150W at 300~3800MHz.
Design of mobile Radio Frequency Identification (m-RFID) antenna

In this paper, we propose a mobile Radio Frequency Identification antenna for mobile hand set. The proposed antenna with directive radiation characteristics based on combination of electric-magnetic radiators can be installed in the mobile hand-set. The combination of PIFA antenna for electric radiator and loop antenna for magnetic radiator is presented and designed for료 m-RFID reader system. Target frequency band is 900-MHz band. and desired gain is 4dBi. The antenna is simulated using Ansoft HFSS software and shows expected results. The antenna is also manufactured using FR4-epoxy circuit board (h=1 mm,
). There are good agreements between the simulated and measured VSWR curves and radiation characteristics.
Improvement of Gain and Frequency Characteristics of the CMOS Low-voltage Current-mode Integrator

In this paper, A CMOS low-voltage current mode integrator is designed. The designed current-mode integrator is based on linear cascode circuit that is newly proposed in this paper. When it is compared with gain(43.7dB) and unity gain frequency(15.2MHz) of the typical current-mirror type current-mode integrator, the proposed linear cascode current-mode integrator achieves high current gain(47.8dB) and unity gain frequency(27.8MHz). And a 5th Chebyshev current-mode filter with 7.03MHz cutoff frequency is designed. The designed all circuits are simulated by HSPICE using 1.8V-
The Design of Sliding Mode Controller with Nonlinear Sliding Surfaces

This study develops a variable structure controller using the time-varying nonlinear sliding surface instead of the fixed sliding surface, which has been the robustness against parameter variations and extraneous disturbance during the reaching phase. By appling TS algorithm to the regulation of the rionlinear sliding surface, the reaching time of the system trajectory is faster than the fixed method. This proposed scheme has better performance than the conventional method in reaching time, parameter variation and extraneous disturbance. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is verified by simulation results.
Hot-Carrier Degradation of NMOSFET

This study has provided some of the first experimental results of NMOSFET hot-carrier degradation for the analog circuit application. After hot-carrier stress under the whole range of gate voltage, the degradation of NMOSFET characteristics is measured in saturation region. In addition to interface states, the evidences of hole and electron traps are found near drain depending on the biased gate voltage, which is believed to the cause for the variation of the transconductance(
) and the output conductance(
). And it is found that hole trap is a dominant mechanism of device degradation in a low-gate voltage saturation region, The parameter degradation is sensitive to the channel length of devices. As the channel length is shortened, the influence of hole trap on the channel conductance is increased. Because the magnitude of
are increased or decreased depending on analog operation conditions and analog device structures, careful transistor design including the level of the biased gate voltage and the channel length is therefore required for optimal voltage gain (
) in analog circuit.
The Site Installation Test of Single-Phase MJ81 Switch Point Machine Localization

In this paper, we describe the performance results of the field installation test which is required to practicalize the single-phase MJ81 Switch Point Machine. This product has passed the certified test through performance improvement of driving parts in order to use 3 phase MJ81 Switch Point Machine, which is localized by taking over technology from Alstom and Cogifer when constructing Seoul-Busan rapid-transit railway, without change of the electrical equipment at track-side in domestic existing lines which single-phase 220V is used. KRRI and Samsung SDS have localized the single-phase MJ81 Switch Point Machine to improve the speed and safety of the conventional lines through the existing railway technology development project. For practicalization of this, we should, however, verify the performance through not only field installation test in real lines but also interface test with the interlocking. In this paper we verify the practicality of the domestic single-phase MJ81 Switch Point Machine through analysis on the performance result of the field installation test as well as the research contents for this test. Thereby, in Feb 2009 we have received an order from the Korea Rail Network Authority and are currently installing the single-phase MJ81 Switch Point Machine.
A Multi-channel CMOS Low-voltage Filter with Newly Current-mode Integrator

A CMOS multi-channel low-voltage current mode filter circuit is designed. The designed current-mode filter is based on linear cascode current-mode integrator that is newly proposed in this paper. When it is compared with that of the typical current-mirror type current-mode integrator, the proposed linear cascode current-mode integrator achieves high current gain and unity gain frequency. The designed filter is composed with 5th Chebyshev function and converted to active version by signal flow graph method. We verified that the designed filter can be applied to three-channel basedband, bluetooth, DECT and WCDMA with 0.51MHz~7.03MHz frequency tuning range by Hspice simulation using 1.8V-
Multidimensional Performance Assessment Support System for Collaborative Project Course

Most important factor for successful operation of collaborative project, which is a project based curriculum, is systematic and rational assesment. In this paper, we design and implement multidimensional performance assessment support system which can overcome simplicity of result-oriented evaluation. In the proposed system, learner can diagnose problems and improve those by oneself. We design the system satisfying both professor and student about evaluation results through evaluating total course of collaborative project.
An Efficient Inter-Prediction Hardware Architecture Design for the H.264/AVC Baseline Profile Decoder

Inter-prediction is always the main bottleneck in H.264/AVC baseline profile. This paper describes an efficient inter-prediction hardware architecture design. H.264/AVC decoder supports various block types but reference software considers only the
block when the reference block is being fetched. This causes duplicated pixels which needs extra fetch cycles. In order to eliminate some of the duplicated pixels, the
blocks were considered in the previous design. If the block size is larger than or equal to the
block, it will be decomposed into several
blocks and if the block size is smaller than the
block it will be decomposed into several
blocks. Comparing with the reference software, the maximum and minimum cycle reduction of the previous design are 41.5% and 28.2% respectively. For further reduction of the fetch cycles, the various block types are considered in this paper. As a result, the maximum cycle reduction is 18.6% comparing with the previous design.
e-Government Grid System for Information Interoperability

Currently operated many information systems are faced up with various difficulties to exchange data and to cooperate between different systems because the factors, such as data exchangibility and system interoperability, are not considered during the system development from scratch. To overcome these problems, we attempt to apply e-Government Grid to resolve the heterogeneity of systems and propose Government Information Metadata Registry (GIMDR) for assurance of interoperability of distributed and independent information systems in e-government environments. Consequently, the case study is introduced to provide the seamless connection between distributed systems. The proposed e-Government Grid and GIMDR are expected to reduce the heterogeneity of the distributed systems for interoperability, as well as increase the accessability and transparency of cooperating information.
Design of Class Model Using Hierarchical Use Case Analysis for Object-Oriented Modeling

Use case diagram is used for defining inter-action between users and systems in object-oriented modeling. It is very important to defining users' requirements for efficient software development. In this paper, we propose a object-oriented modeling process using hierarchical use case analysis for designing class model. First, We define many use case diagrams by several hierarchical modeling level. And next, we can also design class model using the use case diagrams. Our proposed modeling process provides interaction between use case model and class model. That can make us to check the modeling process during the software development. Using the proposed object-oriented modeling we can develop software based on users' requirements. It is very useful for class modeling.
Efficient Clustering Algorithm based on Data Entropy for Changing Environment

One of the most important factors in the lifetime of WSN(Wireless Sensor Network) is the limited resources and static control problem of the sensor nodes. In order to achieve energy efficiency and network utilities, sensor nodes can be well organized into one cluster and selected head node and normal node by dynamic conditions. Various clustering algorithms have been proposed as an efficient way to organize method based on LEACH algorithm. In this paper, we propose an efficient clustering algorithm using information entropy theory based on LEACH algorithm, which is able to recognize environmental differences according to changes from data of sensor nodes. To measure and analyze the changes of clusters, we simply compute the entropy of sensor data and applied it to probability based clustering algorithm. In experiments, we simulate the proposed method and LEACH algorithm. We have shown that our data balanced and energy efficient scheme, has high energy efficiency and network lifetime in two conditions.
Digital Watermarking System for Copyright Protection of Web Image

In this paper, we design and implement watermarking system which create, insert and detect watermark comprised of number or logo to protect copyright and to prevent illegal plagiarism through inserting copyrighting information of owner into the original image. In the proposed system, the number or logo as watermark is selectively inserted according to characteristics of the original contents or requirement of copyrighter. The system also has convenient user interface which general administrator who hasn't expert knowledge for the protection of copyright uses easily. Ownership and copyright protection using digital watermarking technology intensifies creating volition of clients who want to create contents such as cultural contents, Thus, we can expect increasing requests for creating contents such as cultural contents.

In this paper the design methode of a separated composition state machine based on the compositive map with connecting two chaotic maps together - sawtooth map
and tent map
and the result of that is proposed. this paper gives a graph of the chaotic states generated by the composition state machine using the compositive logic of two different chaotic maps - sawtooth map and tent map and also shows that the period of pseudo-random states has the length according to the precision of the discreet truth table.
Implementation of Multidimensional Trace System for Specific Object by RFID

This paper suggests that location tracking system by RFID. It uses the location tracking and the authentication to entrance after inserts passive RFID tag into user Identification card. The readers periodically broadcast their signal, and then the readers understand where users are by analyzing them. In one of tracking systems, it is possible to detect the area where user had stayed for the longest time during moving according to signal power, to know user moved path and user next moving path. Also, it can be used in entrance authentication system in security area by using tag ID value which stored to backend server.
Approximated MAP Algorithm for Gray Coded QAM Signals

In this paper, a new approximated MAP algorithm for soft bit decision from QAM symbols is proposed for Gray Coded QAM signals, based on the Max-Log-MAP and a Gray coded QAM signal can be separated into independent two Gray coded PAM signal, M-PAM on I axis with M symbols and N-PAM on Q axis with N symbols. The Max-Log-MAP used distance comparisons between symbols to get the soft bit decision instead of mathematical exponential or logarithm functions. But in accordance with the increase of the number of symbols, the number of comparisons also increase with high complexity. The proposed algorithm is used with the Euclidean distance and constituted with plain arithmetic functions, thus we can know intuitively that the algorithm has low implementing complexity comparing to conventional ones.
HMAC-based 3-factor Authentication using OTP

Recently, most of information services are provided by the computer network, since the technology of computer communication is developing rapidly, and the worth of information over the network is also increasing with expensive cost. But various attacks to quietly intercept the informations is invoked with the technology of communication developed, and then most of the financial agency currently have used OTP, which is generated by a token at a number whenever a user authenticates to a server, rather than general static password for some services. A 2-factor OTP generating method using the OTP token is mostly used by the financial agency. However, the method is vulnerable to real attacks and therefore the OTP token could be robbed and disappeared. In this paper, we propose a 3-factor OTP way using HMAC to conquer the problems and analyze the security of the proposed scheme.

Recently, component-based software development is getting accepted in industry as a new effective software development paradigm. Since the introduction of component-based software engineering (CBSE) in later 90's, the CBSD research has focused largely on component modeling, methodology, architecture and component platform. However, as the number of components available on the market increases, it becomes more important to devise metrics to quantify the various characteristics of components. In this Paper, we propose metrics for measuring the complexity, customizability, and reusability of software components. Complexity metric can be used to evaluate the complexity of components. Customizability is used to measure how efficiently and widely the components can be customized for organization specific requirement. Reusability can be used to measure the degree of features that are reused in building applications. We expect that these metrics can be effectively used to quantify the characteristics of components.

Electricity Production by Metallic and Carbon Anodes Immersed in an Estuarine Sediment

One-chambered sediment cells with a variety of anodic electrodes were tested for generation of electricity. Material used for anodes was iron, brass, zinc/iron, copper and graphite felt which was used for a common cathode. The estuarine sediment served as supplier of oxidants or electron-producing microbial habitat which evoked electrons via fast metal corrosion reactions or a complicated microbial electron transfer mechanism, respectively. Maximum power density and current density were found to be
(iron), respectively. Interestingly, copper wrapped with carbon cloth produced better electric performance than copper only, by 60%, possibly because the cloth not only prevented rapid corrosion on the copper surface by some degrees, but also helped growing some electron-emitting microbes on its surface. At anodes oxidation reduction potential(ORP) was kept to be stationary over time except at the very initial period. The pH reduction in the copper and copper/carbon electrodes could be a sign of organic acid production due to a chemical change in the sediment. The simple estimation of interfacial, electrical resistances of electrodes and electrolyte in the sediment cell that a key to the electricity generation should be in how to control corrosion rate or microbial electron transfer activity.

To protect the citizens' health of Gyeongju and to secure basic data for the assessment of health and environmental risk, distribution characteristics of meteorological elements were investigated and numerical simulation of wind field using RAMS model was carried out. In addition, measurement and analysis of air pollutants, forecasting the behavior air pollutants using ISC-AEROMOD view, and health and environmental risk-influenced zones were defined through managing air polluting materials to prevent health damage and property damage. According to the survey results of air pollution in Gyeongju and surroundings, average annual concentration of air pollutants in Gyeongju was slightly lower than that in Pohang and Ulsan areas, but concentration of particulate matters and nitrogen dioxide at Gyeongju Station Square and Yonggang Crossing were sometimes higher than that in Pohang and Ulsan areas. Results of the modeling of moving and diffusion of air pollutants that affect citizens' health showed that parts of the 1st through 4th industrial complexes together with POSCO were included in particulate matters and sulfur dioxide influenced areas in Pohang Steel Complex area, and that Haedo-dong, Sangdae-dong, Jecheol-dong and Jangheung-dong in Pohangnam-gu represented locally worsened air quality due to a quantity of air pollutant emission from dense steel industries and large scale industrial facilities.
Experimental Study of Chemical Effects on Head Loss across Containment Sump Strainer under Post-LOCA Environment

An integral head loss test in a test apparatus was conducted to simulate chemical effects on a head loss across a strainer in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) containment water pool after a loss of coolant accident (LOCA). The test was conducted during 30 days in the condition of a short spray, a long spray, and no materials with chemical effects. The result exhibited that the head loss was affected on amounts of the exposed materials according to spray conditions. XRD analysis of the collected precipitates showed that the precipitates were phosphate compounds. Comparison of the head loss with dissolved species concentration showed that high increase rate of the head loss resulted from the corrosion of aluminum and zinc but slow increase rate of the head loss resulted from the precipitates induced by Si, Mg, and Ca from leaching reaction at NUKON and concrete after passivation of metal specimens.

In this study, we have completed the simulation and optimization work for the deethanizer column which was used for natural gas processing plant or saturated gas plant in a petrochemical process. An optimal feed stage location which minimizes the reboiler heat duty was determined. This study was investigated to determine the combustion characteristics, decomposition efficiency, and the flue gas concentrations after combustion in the high temperature reactor(
, 1 atm) for the liquid wastes(waste oil and waste solvent) generated from the industrial complex. The concentration of nitrogen oxide(NOx) is decreased and the synthetic gas is increased when the mass ratio of
/waste is about 1.53 because the reaction condition was changed to reduction state. And BTEXs(benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene) are decomposed more than 99.99%. If the highly concentrated liquid waste (waste oil and waste solvent) is treated under the operating conditions suggested by this study, our treatment method for the liquid waste was found to be proper because of the contaminants emission concentration is very low. In addition, the synthetic gas after combustion can be used as an alternative fuel.

This paper explored how soft information and hard information were used when SBC(Small Business Corporation, Korea) reviewed government loan applications. The data set is made up of financial and non-financial data of small-business firms since 2004. A non-financial data set is considered as soft information. Relative importance of three kinds information such as credit information, soft information, financial information is compared with each other by using the logit model. As a result, credit information is most critical to the loan approval, and then soft information follows, lastly financial information has the smallest effect on the loan approval. This is because the credit information is made up of the non-linear combination of soft information and financial information. When the relative importance of soft information and financial information is considered, soft information is relatively more critical to the loan approval then financial information. This is because financial ratios provided by small-business firms are not reliable enough.

This aims of this study is to examine the factors influencing on the channel satisfaction and preference of the mobile commerce. This model tests various theoretical research relating to technology acceptance model(TAM), transaction cost theory and service quality. The model is tested Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) using AMOS 7.0 analysis on the sample collected from 320 respondents. The result of hypothesis testing is as follows. First, usefulness, asset specificity, uncertainty, trust and responsiveness were influenced by channel satisfaction. Second, channel satisfaction was influenced positively by channel preference.

The aim of the study is to look at the relationships among emotional dimensions, commitment to environment, consumer typology, and quality of life. For this study, 303 students completed the questionnaires and SPSS and Amos 4 were employed. The findings are: First, positive emotion increases commitment to environment. Second, commitment to environment encourages green consumer behaviors and quasi-green consumer behaviors while it reduces non-green consumer behaviors. Third, green consumer behaviors increase quality of life while quasi-green consumer behaviors and non-green consumer behaviors do not have any influence on quality of life. Some practical implications are included.
A Field Study on Global R&D Centers in Korea: Focusing on Global IT Industry Policy with Gap Approach

Innovative capacities and performance are essential for the growth of the IT industry and the development of the Korean economy. Global R&D centers are important sources of innovation in the IT industry. In order to identify the structure of the innovation environment of global R&D centers in IT industry, we conducted a field survey of 50 global R&D centers and 50 global R&D policy experts in IT industry. According to the empirical results obtained using the Linear Structure Model, it is suggested that, first, with regard to a short-term IT global policy, the direction of the Korean government's policy should act as a trigger to connect the research domain and the market domain; second, the government policy should act as a facilitator to connect the development domain and the research domain in the mid-term period; and, finally, the government's R&D policy should serve as a disseminator to connect technological capability and the market space domain in the long-term perspective. For an effective way of internationalizing innovation, IT policy planners should regard global IT R&D centers as the important components of national innovation system and encourage the effective involvements by them in the process of IT industrial innovation.

Perceived Impact Based Market Segmentation Among Festival Participants

As a critical element for success of community based tourism, festivals and special events play a significant role in enticing visitors from outside of the host community. More importantly, festivals and events contribute to improve the life quality for both hosts and guests. The purpose of this study is to develop a market segmentation strategy based on the perceived festival impacts among visitors to Poonggi Ginseng Festival so that each segment can be treated and communicated with separatedly for utmost visiting satisfaction. In this study, two market segments based on visitors' socio-cultural and environmental evaluation of the festival were identified, namely high appraisal group and low appraisal group. Two groups contrast sharply in terms of their behavioral patterns and perceived value and overall satisfaction. Practical marketing strategies are suggested accordingly.
An Empirical Study on the Factors Influencing the Use of BLOG and Job Satisfaction

Would it be true that cutting off using BLOG in business hour prevents that job performance decreases? Even though it is right, would the worker have different reason of using BLOG according to job characteristic? This is the purpose of this study to search the answers for the questions above. Under the first hypothesis, (factors having the people use BLOG can influence the job satisfaction), independent variable was set to three factors and define as 'Interoperability', 'Informative', 'Amusement' respectively and dependent variable was set to job satisfaction in this study. The result of analyzing this hypothesis was that two factors('Interoperability', 'Informative') haveinfluence on job satisfaction but 'Amusement' factor hadn't any influence on job satisfaction. For another hypothesis, (the factor having the worker use BLOG would have different influence on job satisfaction according to job characteristic), Job characteristic was set to 3 group (fixed/unfixed, individual/co-operational, static/active) in this study and these variables were converted to dummy variable for validating the moderating effect on both variables(independent/dependent). The result of analyzing this hypothesis was that all dummy variables set to 3 groupshadn't any moderating effect on both variables. Because a dummy variable couldn't be contained the job characteristic exactly.
Study on Measuring Mechanical Properties of Sport Shoes Using an Industrial Robot

This paper introduces a measurement system for mechanical properties of sport shoes using an industrial robot. The robot system used in this paper is a commercial Puma type robot system(FARA AT2 made by SAMSUNG Electronics) with 6 joints and the end-effector is modified to produce a human walking motion. After analyzing human walking with a high speed video camera, each joint angle of the robot system is extracted to be used in the robot system. By using this system, ground impact forces were measured during stepping motion with 3 different shoe specimens made of 3 different hardness outsoles, respectively. As other mechanical properties, both bending moments to bend the toe part of the same specimen shoes and pronation quantities during walking motion were measured as well. In the impact test with the same depth of deformation under the ground level, the effect of the outsole hardness was clearly appeared such that the harder outsole produces the higher ground reaction force. The bending test and the pronation test also show proportional increments in the bending stiffness and the moment Mx according to the outsole hardness. Throughout such experiments, the robot system has produced consistent results so that the system could be used in obtaining valuable informations for a shoe designing process.

This study explored the current supply status on Contents Technology R&D(research and development) of CT ministries and market policies(senior friendly industry) targeting to elderly consumers and the needs and demand of elderly generation to knowledge information technology. In, 2008, Ministries announced the sixth category of CT R&D's fundamental planning. The 'public culture service' to elderly and handicapped person is one of CT R&D category. This study investigated the information technology participation(internet participation rate, blog and internet cafe commitment) and contents technology to the elderly. The research indicated the desired needs of elderly consumers are creativity contents, emotional & experience and communication needs. These three factors of CT R&D to elderly consumers meets the needs non-game factors such as health, economic stability and information seeking in entertainment game.

The aim of this study is to examine the factors influencing managerial performances of women entrepreneur's characteristics and entrepreneurial supporting policy. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to characteristics of women entrepreneurs and an entrepreneurial supporting policy. The model is used by SPSS 15.0 for analysis on the sample collected from 130 respondents. The result of hypothesis testing are as follows: need for achievement, risk-taking propensity, vision, opportunity perception and entrepreneurial supporting policy influence positively managerial performances. The results of this study will provide practical implications on success of women entrepreneurs.
Error-Preventing Monitoring System using RFID in the Mixed-Model Automotive Parts Assembly Line

In recent years, globalization of markets and increased consumer sophistication in automotive industry have led to an increase in the variety of products and a consequent increase in the number of variants of any given product line that a manufacturer must supply. Also, the modularity trend of automotive production systems greatly affects on the production systems of automotive parts suppliers. These typically requires the implementation of cost efficient, flexible production systems, so called mixed-model assembly lines. We studied the problems of mixed-model assembly and assembly error-preventing techniques, and developed the error-preventing monitoring system using RFID in the mixed-model automotive parts assembly line. Especially, this study aimed to solve the problems and supplement the existing systems for preventing assembly errors, by developing a monitoring system using RFID to minimize the issues currently occurring in the field of automotive parts assembly, such as losses from incorrect installation and omission.
From Patients and Caregivers 119 Rescue party's Experiences for Violence in the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Field

The purpose of this study was to investigate 119 rescue party's violence experiences and to analyze their responses of violence experiences based on the pre-hospital emergency medical field. Data were collected from the self-administered survey of 226 rescue party in Jeollabuk-do area in Korea from January 1 through March 2, 2009. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis using SPSS Win 12.0. The results were as follows: first, all of 119 rescue unit in the pre-hospital emergency medical field reported that they got violence experiences more than once a week, and 62% of rescue team were exposed to physical violence. Patient's factors that caused violence were drug abuse or alcohol(56.2%), on the other hand rescue party's factors were shortage of human resources. Second, 42% of the respondents replied that they did not have any educational experiences for prevention and coping methods about violence within 5 years. 77.4% of those surveyed indicated that they wanted to receive specific educations which can prevent and cope with violence. Third, the mean value of total violent response scores was 2.53, and emotional response score was 3.2, social response score was 2.22, and physical response score was 2.17. Fourth, violent response score related to general characteristics proposed that physical(t=-2.08, p=o.38), emotional(t=-7.13, p=.006), and total responses(t=-4.764, p=.000) were statistically significant. And emotional(t=4.257, p=.000) and total responses(t=8.1330, p=.000) related to age were also statistically significant. Finally, among current tenure qualification scores, social response(t=9.987, p=.012) and total score(t=8.130, p=.000) were statistically significant. Between fire departments, violent response score suggested that physical(t=9.987, p=.000), emotional(t=2.433, p=.012), social(t=6.738, p=.000), and total score(t=5.943, p=.000) were statistically significant.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mental practice about functional performance of affected limb to unilateral neglect and ADL(Activities of Daily Living) in person with stroke. A single subject experimental research with ABA design was employed in this study. The experiment formed 18 sessions in total: 5 sessions for baseline, 10 sessions for mental practice treatment, and 3 sessions for the second baseline. Mental practice was composed of performing 3 functional activities(dressing clothes, make-up with materials and arrangement, folding clothes). It took 5 minutes at once and 15 minutes in total daily. The unilateral neglect was measured by reading test, writing test, and Baking Tray Task. ADL was assessed by COPM. The results indicated that unilateral neglect test scores were all reduced, and the score of COPM was clinically significant. Mental practice for performing of functional activities was effective method to reduce unilateral neglect and improve ADL in person with stroke.

The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of changing the order of exercise types on body composition and blood lipid in obese women. The subjects were 40-years obese women. They were trained during the 12 weeks by combined exercise program which included aerobic and resistant exercises. 1. In the cases of weight, A group(aerobics and resistance training)more decreased than B group(resistance training and aerobics). There was not statistically significant difference before and after 12-week combined exercise program between the groups. In the case of body fat mass, A group more decreased than B group. There was a statistically significant difference between the groups(p<0.01). Lean body mass, A group more increased than B group but there was a statistically significant difference between the groups. A and B groups were decreased in abdominal percent fat and there was a not statistically significant difference between the groups. 2. There were not any significant differences between two groups after 12-week combined exercise program at total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride, and high density lipo-protein(HDL) cholesterol. 3. In the case of blood glucose, group A showed more decreased than group B after 12-week combined exercise program. The difference before and after exercise program of A and B groups was statistically significant(p<0.01). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of professional tooth cleaning and dental health education on dental clearances and dental health behaviors. This study was designed into two groups, 80 persons of control group for dental health education and 80 persons of experimental group for dental health education and professional tooth cleaning. In order to compare education effects, the researcher applied different educational methods. The parameters were the toothbrushing frequency, the average tooth brushing time, the action rate of toothbrushing after lunch, and the rate of using oral hygiene product. The data were analyzed and the following was the conclusion. The frequency of toothbrushing in two groups increased. Toothbrushing frequency of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of preliminary group and control group. The action rate of toothbrushing after lunch in two groups increased. But the experimental group was significantly higher. The score for dental clearances of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group. The data showed statistically significant difference.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the spontaneous therapy, TENS(transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) and ice therapy after induction of DOMS(delayed onset muscle soreness) through application of eccentrically exercise in ralation to biceps brachii muscle of opposite-dominance. And to explain this, we analyzed VAS(visual analogue scales), peak torque, RMS(roots mean square) when exercising elbow joint. The subjects were 30 adults without any physical defect. Subjects were divided into three groups that spontaneous therapy, TENS therapy and ice therapy after DOMS induction, choosen movement could get the maximal peak torque in angular velocity of
/sec, and mearsured peak torque, RMS and VAS. 1. The VAS was significantly decreased after 3 days application of TENS than other groups(p<.05). 2. The peak torque was significantly increased after 3 days application of TENS than other groups(p<.05). 3. The RMS was significantly increased after 3 days application of TENS than other groups(p<.05). This study showed that TENS therapy application were effective treatment strategy on DOMS than spontaneous therapy and ice therapy. Therefore, it could be considered as a treatment method in the patients with DOMS.

This study was carried out to investigate consumer's purchase behaviors of pork. Questionnaires from a total of 253 housewives were analyzed Jan. to Feb. 2008. The average of preferences for domestic and imported pork were
scores of 5 points, respectively. Consumers (56.4%) liked belly of pork very much. Consumers (45.4%) purchased a great deal of pork in big discount mart. Consumers (40.2%) responded that they indicated quality reliability as the choice factors for determination of purchasing pork. Respondents (54.6%) hoped the wrapping pork pack of 600 g. The evaluation of the perception for carcass grading system and quality reliability for brand-pork averaged
scores of 5 points, respectively.
Clinical Results of Silicone Oil Injection following Vitrectomy as a Primary Procedure in Retinal Detachment

To evaluate clinical results of silicone oil injection for retinal detachment. The 45 eyes of 44 patients underwent vitrectomy and silicone oil injection from 1999 to 2002. 1.There were no history of previous retinal surgery and ocular trauma. In 24 of the 45 eyes(53%) visual acuity increased and stabilized in 18 of the 45 eyes(40%). 2. 1 of 16 eyes(6.3%) had recurred retinal detachment after silicone oil removal. 3. Final retinal reattachment was achieved in 44 eyes(97%). Postoperative complications were cataract(16 eyes), glaucoma(10 eyes), emulsification of silicone oil(5 eyes), keratopathy(2 eyes) and recurrent retinal detachment(1 eye). These results show that silicone oil injection for primary retinal detachment yields a high rate of anatomic success and the good visual outcome
The Effects of Simulation-based Training for Basic Life Support on the Knowledge and Skills of the Nursing College Students

This study, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was to identify the effects of simulation-based training for basic life support on the knowledge and skills of the nursing college students. The subject were 16 participants in the experimental group who trained with simulation-based and 17 participants in the control group who trained with traditional education methods among second grade of D college in D city. Data was collected from 24th August to 1st September 2009. The data were analyzed with Fisher's exact, independent t-test, paired t-test and ANCOVA using SPSS/PC 12.0 win. The results were as followed. Firstly, BLS knowledge of the experimental group weren't significantly different with the control group(F=.568, p=.573), Secondly, BLS skills of the experimental group were significantly different with the control group(F=19.407, p=.000). These findings suggest that simulation-based training for basic life support improved the competence on basic life support of nursing college students. Therefore, the result suggested that nursing department professor applicate simulation-based training to improve nursing college student's ability to perform basic life support.

This study as a descriptive survey was to investigate recognition and attitudes on ethical issues for DNR of 119 rescue party who are working on the field, and to develop an objective framework which helps rescue team to manage DNR patients. Data were collected from the structured questionnaire, and subject were 226 rescue party in Jeollabuk-do area in Korea. Study was practiced from May 6 through June 20, 2009, and the data were analyzed by frequency, percentage,
-test, crosstabs using SPSS Win 12.0. The results indicated that ethical attitudes on subjects' factors(sex, age, religion, marital status, clinical working career, current working area, current position, educational experiences for ethics and values, DNR education places, DNR implication experience, and DNR consulting demands) were statistically significant. Therefore, following researches will be necessary in order to consider measures about DNR based on this study.
Changes in Bone Mineral Density and Biochemical Markers of Bone Turnover in Young Women: A 1-Year Follow-up Study

This study investigated the changes in bone mineral density(BMD) and biochemical bone turnover markers over 1 year in healthy young college women. In comparison of changes in BMD at the lumbar spine, proximal femur (trochanter, femoral neck, Ward's triangle), and whole body over 1 year, there was only a significant difference in that at forearm. However, serum osteocalcin, a marker of bone formation, and urinary deoxypyridinoline, a marker of bone reabsorption, were significantly changed over 1 year. These findings indicate that although BMD does not significantly change in early young adult, the changes of bone metabolism markers seem to mean active bone turnover in early young adult women.

To build up the marketing strategy and competitiveness which are suitable for hospital-annex skin care shop and independent skin care shop, 600 people, who are living in Gumi and Ulsan city, Gyung-Buk and also, clients of both skin care shop, were participated from Sept. 16th to Oct. 16th, 2009. The main clients of hospital-annex skin care shop were women in 20s, who have skin trouble with pimples, pores and sebum. On the other hand, the clients of independent skin care shop were mainly women in their 30s or 40s. They were housewives or self-employed. The reason to visit skin care shop was because of wrinkles or lack of elasticity. When they chose skin care shop, first of all, they considered the effect of the care and they wanted a licensed aesthetician to care their skin. In the aspect of sanitary facilities, equipments and the licensed aestheticians, the independent skin care shops were needed to be more improved than hospital-annex skin care shop. According to this survey, hospital-annex skin care shop and independent skin care shop need to provide differentiated service and this result would be the basis to have competitiveness. Also, in the future, more strategies and concrete method should be presented.
A Method to Evaluate Rate of 'Soft-Hard' In a Drawing

This study proposes a method to evaluate the level of 'soft-hard' of color quantitatively by evaluating the shape with edge sharpness automatically and by evaluating color in the color image scale in a drawing in art therapy using a computer. The dependent variable is the rank for the color experts to rate the level of 'soft-hard'. The mean and standard deviation of Value(V), and Chroma(C), colors, main color, clusters, length of edge, and sharp line rate of edge are considered as the independent variable. The appropriate independent variables to explain the dependent variable are selected through the step wise regression analysis. The inter-rater reliability of two raters is checked and the validity of developed system is verified by the rank correlations coefficient between the ranks of rater's and system's. This system can be used to evaluate of the shape or color in a drawing objectively and quantitatively for art therapy assessment, and to give the useful information to the fashion, textile, interior industry as well as color psychology and art therapy.
A Study on physicochemical and calcination processed characteristic of oyster shell

In this study, we secured wasted oyster shells as raw materials in order to applicate it to corrosion preventive ceramic coating reagent in the drinking water pipeline. Then, we investigated physicochemical properties in terms of basic calcination processing. Oyster shell was composed with 92.08% of
and the shapes of the pulverized particles were mostly oval. The calcined oyster shell showed increasing tendency of weight loss and of calcium content with the lapse of time and increase of temperature. The result indicates that the higher calcination processing temperature and the uniformly smaller particle size give more efficiency during calcination process. Therefore it is anticipated to be a good ceramic material to protect a surface of cleaning bed and inside of a tap water pipes from corrosion.
