In-Plane Buckling Analysis of Curved Beams Using DQM
Kang, Ki-Jun ; Kim, Young-Woo ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 2858~2864
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.2858
The differential quadrature method (DQM) is applied to computation of the eigenvalues of in-plane buckling of the curved beams. Critical moments and loads are calculated for the beam subjected to equal and opposite bending moments and uniformly distributed radial loads with various end conditions and opening angles. Results are compared with existing exact solutions where available. The DQM gives good accuracy even when only a limited number of grid points is used. More results are given for two sets of boundary conditions not considered by previous investigators for in-plane buckling: clamped-clamped and simply supported-clamped ends.
Study on Fatigue Analysis of DCB Specimen Bonded
Choi, Hae-Kyu ; Hong, Soon-Jik ; Kim, Sei-Hwan ; Cho, Jae-Ung ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 2865~2871
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.2865
In this study, the fracture behaviour of DCB(double cantilever beam) specimen with aluminum foam composite materials is analyzed by simulation. By comparing the analysis results with two models of 25 mm and 40 mm, the model with thickness of 25 mm is weaker than 40 mm at fatigue life and damage. Two models are unfavorable at 'SAE Transmission' in case of nonuniform fatigue load and rainflow matrices are weakest at 'SAE Bracket history'. In damage matrices, the model with 25 mm of thickness is weaker than the model with 40 mm of thickness but the model with 40 mm of thickness relative damage possibility is higher than in case of 25 mm. As two models are safest at 'SAE Transmission', the relative damage becomes the lowest value from 1.1 to 1.8 %. The mechanical property can be investigated by applying these analyses results with the real composite structure bonded with adhesive and analyzing fracture behaviour.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 2878~2885
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.2878
In this study, the training and sporting equipment for leg rehabilitation featuring the MR fluids is proposed. The compact MR fluid brake is designed and manufactured to apply to the rehabilitation training and sporting mechanism. The resistance characteristic of the MR fluid brake is controllable by varying the magnetic field around the fluid. Under consideration of spatial limitation, design parameters which are related with the magnetic strength are determined to maximize to a torque using finite element method. The FE analysis is performed using a commercial code, ANSYS Workbench. The proposed brake device is manufactured, and its field-dependant torque is experimentally evaluated. When the electric current is supplied, the torque of the MR fluid brake is increased and the response is very fast. Depending on the strength of the current supply, torques of the MR fluid brake also increase similar to Bingham property of MR fluid.

Lee, Man-Ki ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 2909~2920
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.2909
The roles of public and private employment service agencies have been considered crucially important due to the increasing interest of employment services and policies since the Korean Currency Crisis. Eventually, the roles of a manager and a follower of employment service agencies have been of greater importance. In this study, several means concerning the improvement in organizational performances are suggested by studying the leadership's influence of a team leader in employment service agency over the organizational commitment of the followers. In addition to this, influential factors exerted to the organizational performances in an employment service agency have been analysed by the justice awareness between the two groups - team leaders and followers. The analytic results have shown that the transactional leadership has nothing to do with the organizational commitment whereas the transformational leadership has the positive influence over the organizational commitment. However, the leadership of a leader surely influences both distributional and procedural justice. With these facts, it has been proven that these justice have also influenced on the organizational committment. Throughout the process, it has been identified that the distributional justice has more impact on the organizational commitment rather than on the procedural justice.

Lee, Sang-Hak ; Choi, Se-Hyun ; Son, Chan-Soo ; Ha, Hyun-Jung ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 2937~2948
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.2937
Record-keeping is one of the most fundamental practices in good farm management as it shows a systemic managerial and analytic data essential for a successful farm operation. Despite such obvious benefits in record-keeping, however, today`s farmers do not take advantage of this practice for various reasons. To make the matter worse, not much research has been done to resolve this incompatibility. Therefore, it is urgent for both the government and the farmers to come up with a better method or book of record-keeping that will show the farmers where their operation has been in the past, where it is now, and where it is heading in the future. This study will survey and analyze the current status of record-keeping practice among farmers using statistic models such as logit and ordered probit model. The results showed that the majority of the farmers lack knowledge about management record. Also, appropriate record-keeping books and related education were not available. Therefore, the government should develop and provide farmers with record-keeping books that are easy to use and at the same time giving proper education about agricultural management skills. Finally, this study suggests some improvement plans about agricultural record-keeping based on the results drawn.

Kang, Yong-Ha ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 2955~2963
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.2955
This study presents a column generation approach for multiple product dynamic lot-sizing problem. The basic idea of this approach is to have a master problem which allocates limited capacity among n different products and a sub-problem that performs the optimal lot sizing for each product subject to capacity allocation given by the master problem. In the sub-problem, we develop M/G/1 queuing model based clearing function which captures nonlinear relationship between the lot size, the work in process level and the throughput. A large number of test problems are randomly generated to evaluate the performance. Computational results show that the proposed model can find better solutions within reasonable CPU times.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.2991
In this study, a survey was carried out on 150 parents who have regular children attending integrated childcare centers in J area, through March 2 to March 10, 2012, with the purpose of figuring out the Effects of Attitudes toward Disabled Children on Integrated Childcare Attitudes in Regular Parents. The results are summarized as follows. First, the effect of attitudes toward disabled children on regular integrated childcare attitudes showed that cognitive and emotional factors had a statistically significant positive effect on regular attitudes. Second, the effect of attitudes toward disabled children on children's activities and teachers' concerns for integrated childcare showed that cognitive and behavioral factors had a statistically significant positive effect on children's activities and teachers' concerns. Third, the effect of attitudes toward disabled children on behavioral problems of integrated childcare showed that cognitive, emotional and behavioral factors had a statistically significant positive effect on behavioral problems. As for findings stated as above, there was a difference in integrated childcare attitude depending on regular parents' attitude toward disabled children. This implies that there is a difference in cognitive and emotional attitudes toward disabled children in regular parents, acting as positive factors that raise the integrated childcare attitude for the improvement of perception on these factors. Consequently, for the integrated childcare, both disabled children and regular children should admit each other's diversity and accept different each other's existence, and the perception change of parents, who try to respect and learn together, should be preceded.

Joo, Jae-Woo ; Kim, Bo-Young ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 3000~3006
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.3000
We investigate whether the belief in good luck of stock traders influences their satisfaction with and their loyalty to a stock trading service. In particular, we tested whether the online stock traders who have irrational beliefs in good luck (e.g., I am a lucky person) (1) are satisfied with their online stock trading service more strongly and (2) stay with it longer than the online stock traders who have rational beliefs in good luck (e.g., luck does not exist). We have tested satisfaction, loyalty, and belief in good luck among 412 online stock traders and tested our two hypotheses. Our findings contribute to the academic research on service satisfaction and loyalty as well as provide implications to online stock trading service providers.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 3007~3015
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.3007
This study gave an insight into senior life plans and life satisfaction of the middle aged employee over 45 and under 60 years of age, listed in the KLIPS data for 2001 (4th year) and 2008 (11th year), so as to grasp levels of senior life plans of the middle aged employee as well as the longitudinal and short term effects of senior life plans on life satisfaction. The study findings showed as follow: First, For the period of years, the middle aged employees' health got worse and jobs got instable. Second, economic and physical senior life plans of the middle aged employee turned out below an average of three points which means preparations made below the normal level, whereas senior life plans in terms of relation and leisure and social activities came out with more than an average of three points, respectively, which means preparations made above the normal level. Third, as a result of looking into longitudinal effects of the 2001 senior life plans on life satisfaction, the level of senior life plans for leisure and social activities got higher, life satisfaction stayed higher in the year of 2001. In 2008, however, the higher level of economic plans for senior life came out with a higher rate of life satisfaction. From a short-term perspective, therefore, leisure and social activities to enjoy life impose a great impact on life satisfaction, whereas from a long-term viewpoint economic plans for senior life is regarded to be of greater importance.

In this study, we have tried to identify the relationship between the patient's health belief and the implementation of functional movement rehabilitation and ability to perform ADL in stroke patient, and have done this study to use this as evidence in treating stroke patients in clinical trials by providing a basis data of stroke patients' successful rehabilitation program. We targeted stroke patients who were diagnosed with stroke and are hospitalized in D hospital in J City, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea. More over, we distributed a total of 150 questionnaires to patients who understand the purpose of the research and agreed to participate. We were able to collect 132questionnaires at the end. However, 11 had insufficient data so we only analyzed and evaluated 121 of the said questionnaires. We did frequency analysis to understand the general characteristics by using SPSS for Windows(ver.12.0) program and we used Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and regression analysis to know the relationship between the patient's health beliefs and the implementation of rehabilitation and ability to perform ADL in stroke patients. The results of this study shows that patients with higher perceived sensitivity, perceived benefit and perceived severity equates to an implementation of the rehabilitation better, however patients with a lower perceived disability equates an implementation of functional movement rehabilitation better than those with a higher perceived disability.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.3140
In this paper, a design method for a compact slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is studied. A T-shaped tuning stub is inserted inside a narrow rectangular slot and the slot is impedance matched to the CPW feedline by adjusting the width, length, and position of the stub. The resonance frequency is adjustable by the slot length and the antenna size can be reduced by bending the slot. The resonance frequency and impedance matching property of the compact slot antenna are similar to those of the half-wavelength slot antenna, which enables one to design compact antenna of this type with ease. A compact slot antenna for 2.45-GHz ISM band is designed, fabricated on an FR4 substrate (dielectric constant of 4.4 and thickness of 0.8 mm), and experimentally tested. The measured results agree well with the simulations, which confirms the validity of this study. The fabricated compact slot antenna shows an impedance bandwidth of 200 MHz(2.32-2.52 GHz) for a VSWR < 2, which is suitable for 2.45-GHz ISM band (2.4-2.48 GHz). The measured radiation patterns show
-shaped directional pattern in the E-plane and nearly omni-directional pattern in the H-plane with a peak gain of 2.0 dBi, which are similar to those of a monopole antenna. The proposed antenna is expected to be suitable for the applications as antennas for WLAN, RFID, and mobile handset.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 3152~3159
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.3152
This paper presents the new instruction-level power model for an asynchronous processor. Until now, the various power models for estimating the power dissipation of embedded processor in SoC are proposed. Since all of them are target to the synchronous processors, the accuracy is questionable when we apply those power models to the asynchronous processor in SoC. To solve this problem, we present new power model for an asynchronous processor by reflecting the behavioral features of an asynchronous circuit. The proposed power model is verified using an implementation of asynchronous processor, A8051. The simulation results of the proposed model is compared with the measurement result of gate-level synthesized A8051. The proposed power model shows the accuracy of 90.7% and the simulation time for estimation the power consumption was reduced to 1,900 times.

Recently the increasingly common large refrigerator is the side by side(SBS) refrigerator whose freezing chamber and refrigerating chamber are set side by side. But one of the biggest dissatisfaction of customers about SBS refrigerator is that the two doors don't meet the same height when they are closed. It is called door height difference(DHD). The main cause of DHD is the unevenness of floor on which a refrigerator is placed or the cabinet deformation caused by long time use. When the DHD is confirmed, the customer or maintenance personnel use wrench to adjust the support screw to make the refrigerator to reach the horizontal position. But for big refrigerator, it is not only difficult for women and old people who don't have enough force to adjust it, but also inappropriate to require customers to do this job. In order to resolve this problem, this research proposes a new mechanism which can detect the DHD and adjust two doors to the same height automatically. The adjustment would be completed during opening and closing the doors, avoid needing hard operation with wrench by hand.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.3188
It is important to search a pitch for vocoder. The major drawback to vocoders is their large computational requirements in searching a pitch and a codebook. In this paper, a simple method is proposed to improve the pitch searching process in the pitch filter almost without degradation of quality. The period of speech signal is emphasized by using Dual Pulse technique, the same type of autocorrelation method, in pitch search. Sometimes the incorrect pitch can be obtained by halving, doubling and trifling, To solve it, before searching a pitch, we estimate energy rate in a frame and compensate envelop of signal with it. By using the proposed algorithm in pitch search, its required computation are reduced and searching pitch is improved.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 3201~3206
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.3201
In this paper, the simplified design methodology for rotation of polarization plane using a square waveguide is proposed. In order to optimize the characteristics of
polarizer operating from 14.3GHz to 14.8GHz in Ku-band, the modified mode matching method and piecewise power tower interpolation are applied to the polarizer design. The optimized results show that the frequency bandwidth in VSWR<2 has covered 500MHz in the Ku-band and phase difference between two orthogonal modes
in the range of 14.3GHz~14.8GHz. The cross polarization loss has obtained below 40dB and the insertion loss has 0.1dB in the passband. Therefore, the proposed polarizer is suitable for practical Ku-band system requiring the low VSWR and compact size.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 13, issue 7, 2012, Pages 3207~3215
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2012.13.7.3207
In this paper, we study the bending and free vibration analysis of nano plate, using a nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen with a third-order shear deformation theory. This theory has ability to capture the both small scale effects and quadratic variation of shear strain and consequently shear stress through the plate thickness. Analytical solutions of bending and vibration of a laminated composite nano plate are presented using this theory to illustrate the effect of nonlocal theory on deflection of the nano plates. The relations between nonlocal third-order and local theories are discussed by numerical results. Further, effects of (i) nonlocal parameters, (ii) laminate schemes, (iii) directions of the fiber angle and (iv) number of layers on nondimensional deflections are investigated. In order to validate the present solutions, the reference solutions are used and discussed. The results of anisotropic nano plates using the nonlocal theory may be the benchmark test for the bending analysis.

Deep cement mixing method (DCM) is one of the most effective improving methods for deep soft ground. The strength of soft soil can be increased in a short period of time with less noise and vibration. However, it is necessary to determine the stress transferring and concentration ratio of the composite soft ground for estimating the settlement behaviors. In this study, a model test was undertaken to investigate the stress distribution of the improved soil. Results of the model test shows that stresses were concentrated mainly on the improved areas by DCM and the concentration ratios (35.4, 28.6, 27.02) were obtained using several different techniques. These were well in accordance with other previous research results (26.52, 32.5).

In the construction and operation of large marine structure, hazard risk analysis is one of important factors. Therefore, this paper investigates the hazard risk indexes and evaluates the risk level in the construction and operation of SFT on the basis of expert survey and Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process. Hazard risk is divided into natural hazard risk (earthquake, typhoon, tsunami, and ice collision) and human factor hazard risk (fire, explosion, traffic accident, ship or submarine collision). Also, the influence of hazard risk indexes on SFT was evaluated in tunnel tube, supporting system, ventilation tower, foundation, and connection part. As the hazard risk level of SFT is compared with those of bridge, underwater tunnel, and immersed tunnel, the intrinsic risk level of SFT was evaluated. Tsunami and earthquake had higher risk level in natural hazard risk, and the risk levels of fire and explosion were higher in human factor hazard risk. Hazard risk level of SFT was 1.4 times higher than immersed tunnel, and 3.2 times higher than bridge.

(10 mg/L) with 1.0% (v/v), and incubated for 12 h. Results from the screening test, showed that the removal efficiencies for
, ammonia niterogen, nitrate nitrogen, and phosphate were over 25% for 16 strains, 15% for 9 strains, 50% for 63 strains, and 15% for 80 strains, respectively. Aeromonas hydrophila, Chryseomonas indologenes, Pseudomonas diminuta, Vibrio parahaemolyticus were selected for nutrients removal experiments. For the batch test, 4 species of marine bacteria were inoculated in modified marine broth containing with nutrients(
10 mg/L, respectively), incubated for 10 hr and the removal efficiencies were measured.

This study analyzed a 3D hydrodynamic advection diffusion using the EFDC model (Environmental Fluid Dynamics Code) in the agriculture lake to prevent stratification when we install a water circulator. EFDC model was predicted the range of the water circulator and various operational parameters ware derived for minimize the impact of the internal lake. Through EFDC simulation, water circulation is started overall circulation after 30days and a lake overall circulation showed that it was possible operated the water circulator after about 100days. Also, advection diffusion concentration was low in a lake when water circulator operate intermittent condition than continuous condition. And the entire circulation was stable in this condition. The S/B (Surface/Bottom) ratio can reduce the impact of lake as the surface water mixing a lot of. When the same condition (S/B ratio(3:1)), Case 8 (50days operation: 50days stop) of condition were able to minimize the impact of lake.

A field test on mud flat remediation was carried out in order to observe the effects of the treatments such as microbial dose and an oxygen releasing compound like
. The size of each treatment site was
and the dosage was 3.6 kg per site. The 6 week monitoring showed that pH on two sites was below 7 and ORP increased from .178~-188 mV to .121~-142 mV. In Ignition loss and COD there were no significant changes. Meanwhile nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations changed: ammonia concentration decreased both on control and treatment sites. Nitrate nitrogen decreased more on combined treatment site than on single microbial treatment (11.3% vs. 7.3%) probably because the extra oxygen supplied by
formed more oxic environment so that the facilitated nitrification might produce more nitrate but the nitrate would be much rapidly released into the water layer out of the sediment. That also explains the total nitrogen reduction(6.1%). Similarly, T-P and
reduced by 29% and 31.8%, respectively on combined treatment sites, resulting from the phosphorus release effect though the initial concentrations of the two factors were considerably high.
