Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 1~7
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.1
A stretchable polymeric membrane shaped diffuser was used to homogenize the coherent laser beam. The developed RGB module was used to focus and defocus test by beam combiners. Average oscillation frequency was set at 180Hz~300Hz and it resulted in the best homogenization effect in visual range. The blue laser module turned out to be the worst case for the transmission and primary reason is believed to be the short length of irradiated laser beam. The developed system removed the speckling and the brightness was decreased by 10 ~ 20% for the RGB laser. Overall the brightness was decreased by 13% and homogenity with respect to the temporal axis was improved from 30fs to 110fs.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.21
When iodine container for dental mouth treatment is opened, thread for treatment is cut by the blade in cap of container. Due to the problem of corrosion in a short period time after the reaction of metal blade to iodine solution, it gives impact on patient hygiene. In order to solve the problem, alternative products such as ceramic blade are developed and produced recently. In case of ceramic blade, it is produced by handwork and machine work. In this study, for the quantity production of ceramic blade with powder injection molding, we proposed a delivery system to have uniform charge of 20 cavity. Using Moldflow, simulation on 20 Cavity flow was performed. And then the mold was obtained through mold production and modification.(based on simulation) After injection molding, debinder, sintering process was achieved for ceramic blade, and the cap product was completed via insert injection on ceramic blade. In this study, we verified possibility of quantity production of ceramic blade which showed effective performance for cutting.

Recently social shopping, combining e-Commerce with Social Network Service, become a brand-new eBusiness model. In this paper, we aim to identify the structural relationship of the factors affecting the intention of using social shopping. Reviewing the previous works of social shopping, internet shopping and TAM (Technology Acceptance Model), we extract factors affecting the intention of using social shopping and build a structural research model among these factors. To analyze the structural relationship among theses factors, we perform an empirical study - gathering data from a survey and analyzing gathered data using EFA (Exploratory Factor Analysis) and SEM (Structural Equation Model) to identify the structural relationship. We also analyze moderating effect of past experience of social shopping and gender. As a result, We also can find that two factors - Perceived usefulness and Expected enjoyment - are the key factors influencing acceptance of social shopping and that more segmented strategies are required to attract customers since factors affecting Intention to use are somewhat different according to past experience and gender of respondents.

A Review on the Contemporary Changes of Capital Structures for the Firms belonging to the Korean Chaebols
Kim, Hanjoon ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 86~98
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.86
This study examined a long-standing issue with its perverse results in the Korean capital markets, such as any variant financial profiles over time, affecting capital structure for the firms belonging to the chaebols. It may be of interest to identify these components from the perspectives of international investors and domestic policy makers to implement their contingent strategies on the target leverage, since the U.S. financial turmoils in the late 2000s. Regarding the evidence from the three hypothesis tests on the firms in the chaebols, this research found that the control variabels measuring profitability, business risk, and non-debt tax shields, showed their statistically significant relationships with the different types of a debt ratio. While FCFF(free cash flow to the firm) showed its significant influence to discriminate between the firms in the chaebols and their counterparts, not belonging to the chaebols, BDRELY as the ratio of liabilities to total assets, comprising the enhanced 'Dupont' system, only showed its statistically significant effect on leverage in the context of the parametric and nonparametric tests. In line with the results obtained from the present research, one may expect that a firm in the Korean chaebol, may control or restructure its present level of capital structure to revert to its target optimal capital structure towards maximizing the shareholders' wealth.

Choi, So-Young ; Kim, Yong-Min ; Lee, Hong-Chul ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 99~112
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.99
This paper addresses an assessment model for selecting PL(Private Level) product companies. The proposed model extracts the weights of evaluation elements based on AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process). These evaluation elements are from real-world instances in a domestic hyper market. Especially, the model points at food products which constitute a large portion of entire profits in the market. In this model, we first classify the 54 evaluation elements into 4 layers and secondly carry out a survey with relevant specialists based on them. We also estimate the weights of evaluation elements according to pairwise comparisons from the survey, and propose them as a quantitative alternative which can be applied in real-world problems. Finally, the pilot-study is conducted to compare the proposed model with the existing simple summation method. From this study, HACCP system assessment and Review(0.279281), Transportation(0.117706) and Fundamental law observance(0.066392) are presented as the key evaluation elements for selecting PL product companies. The proposed model facilitates the company selection among those candidate companies which is not easy to determine the superiority by reflecting the importance of evaluation elements.

Net Buying Ratios by Trader Types and Volatility in Korea's Financial Markets
Yoo, Shiyong ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 189~195
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.189
In this research, we investigate the relationship between volatility and the trading volumes of trader types in the KOSPI 200 index stock market, futures market, and options market. Three types of investors are considered: individual, institutional, and foreign investors. The empirical results show that the volatility of the stock market and futures market are affected by the transaction information from another market. This means that there exists the cross-market effect of trading volume to explain volatility. It turns out that the option market volatility is not explained by any trading volume of trader types. This is because the option market volatility, VKOSPI, is the volatility index that reflects traders' expectation on one month ahead underlying volatility. Third, individual investors tend to increase volatilities, whereas institutions and foreign investors tend to stabilize volatilities. These results can be used in the areas of investment strategies, risk management, and financial market stability.

We also try to construct the composite index for measuring the performance of local finance. We employ the Principal Component Analysis(PCA) for validating the appropriateness of selected indicators used in making the composite index. We found that the UCM and PCA are very useful and will be used widely in various evaluations such as regional development, local finance, local competitiveness and public enterprise, etc.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 316~322
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.316
The present study investigated the inflammatory hypersensitivity following activation of the transient receptor potential vanilloid receptor-1(TRPV1) in rats. Experiments were carried out on male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 220-260g. Following an subcutaneous injection of 5% formalin in the orofacial area, nociceptive scratching behavior was recorded for 9 successive 5-min intervals in rats. The subcutaneous injection of
of 5% formalin produced noxious scratching behavior. Injection of capsaicin, TRPV1 agonist, alone into the vibrissa pad did not produced nociceptive behavior. After subcutaneous injection of capsaicin(0
) in the formalin-treated rats, nociceptive scratching behavior was recorded for 9 successive 5-min internals. Injection of capsaicin into the vibrissa pad significantly increased the number of scratches at 1 hours after injection. Noxious behavioral responses induced by subcutaneous capsaicin injection were significantly potentiated in formalin-treated rats. Pre or post-treatment with iodo-resinaferatoxin(IRTX), TRPV1 antagonist, significantly attenuated increased nociceptive behavior. These findings suggest that activation of the TRPV1 enhanced formalin-induced inflammatory pain in the orofacial area of rats.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 367~376
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.367
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of either endurance training only or endurance and weight training on muscle morphology and oxidative enzyme activities in human skeletal muscles. Fourteen healthy males were randomly divided into one of two experimental training groups, either swim exercise training (n=7, ST) or combined exercise training (swim and resistance exercise training; n=7, SWT). The change of muscle fiber type was not significantly different between ST and SWT following 6 weeks of exercise training. Mean cross sectional areas as well as the numbers of capillary of different types of muscle fiber were not also significantly different from baseline for both exercise training groups (p>.05) although the tendency of increase were more notable in SWT. All oxidative enzyme activities (i.e.,
-hydroxyl acyl dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, and carnitine palmitoyl transferase) were marginally higher in SWT compared to ST even though statistical power did not reach the level of significance. Based on these results, it was concluded that performing of combined (swimming and weight) exercise training could be the better modality for improving muscle morphological changes and oxidative enzyme activities than performing of only single aerobic exercise intervention in young healthy human skeletal muscles.

Gwon, Han Na ; Son, Hyeok Jin ; Kook, Kyung Soo ; Yang, Sung-Chae ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 411~417
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.411
Special Protection Scheme(SPS) for generator tripping action is an emergency control tool that secures the power system stability by instantly tripping the pre-determined number of generators to avoid the acceleration of the remaining generators in a large-scaled power plants when a fault occurs on the drawing transmission lines. However, since the existing operating conditions of SPS are set based on a peak demand, SPS could trip more generators than required if it is activated during the off-peak demand period. For this, this paper proposes the algorithm for setting the operating conditions of SPS through the online stability evaluation with the periodically updated operating conditions of power systems. The proposed algorithm adopts COA for the accuracy and speed of the stability evaluation, and can reduce the number of tripping generators by SPS during the off-peak demand period. This results in reducing the loss of profit caused by a fault on power systems.
A Map-Based Boundray Input Method for Video Surveillance

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 418~424
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.418
In this paper, we propose a boundary input method for video surveillance systems. Since intrusion of a moving object is decided by comparition of its position and the surveillance boundary, the boundary input method is a basic function in video surveillance. Previous methods are difficult to adapt to the change of surveillance environments such as the size of surveillance area, the number of cameras, and the position of cameras because those build up the surveillance boundary using the captured image in the center of each camera. In our approach, the whole surveillance boundary is once defined in the form of polygon based on the satellite map and transformed into each camera environment. Its characteristics is that the boundary input is independent from the surveillance environment. Given the position of a moving object, the time complexity of its intrusion detection shows O(n), where n is the number of polygon vertices. To verify our method, we implemented a 3D simulation and assured that the input boundary can be reused in each camera without any redefinition.

Kim, Tae-Hyun ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 425~429
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.425
The visibility range is defined from where one can see. And it can be changed by illuminance, the character size, and eyesight and so on. In this paper the visibility range of 120 students is measured for 4 character sizes and 3 illuminations in a classroom. In order to forecast the visibility range of unmeasured data, using least square approximation theory, functions whose independent variable is illuminance and whose dependent variable is the visibility range is proposed. Because the visibility range is invariant according to illuminance, common logarithmic functions for 4 character sizes are used. The small difference between the postulated functions and the measured data verifies the accuracy of the functions.

When multiple elevators are installed in the building, control systems for each of the elevators, reducing energy loss by elimination of unnecessary movements and assigning appropriate elevators to passengers upon request are called the elevator group control system. However, the group control system of three or more elevators for the Disabled is being limited by the domestic laws and standards because it can not predict which unit will be called. In this paper, as an improvement plan, an integrated group control system of elevators for the general passengers and the disabled is proposed; its efficiency that decreases 16.9 % of waiting time is verified with comparison of the traditional separate group control systems. The proposed Integrated Group Control System does not violate the domestic laws and standards. Also its good performance is shown through computer simulations.

The proposed 2+1 view integrated metamodel defined formerly with a graphical class model can not be guaranteed the syntactic clarity and accuracy precisely for the metamodel due to the informal specification. This paper specifies the syntactic semantics formally for the 2+1 view integrated metamodel using Z and Object-Z and checks the accuracy of the metamodel with Z/Eves tool. The formal specification is expressed in Z and Object-Z schema separately for syntax and statics semantics of the 2+1 view integrated metamodel, which applying the converting rule between class model and Z/Object-Z. The accuracy of the Z specification for the metamodel is verified using Z/Eves tool, which can check the syntax, type, and domain of the Z specification. The transformation specification and checking of the 2+1 view integrated metamodel can help establish more accurate the syntactic semantics of its construct and check the accuracy of the metamodel.

This paper presents the line contention avoidance experiments with an optical switch, which was selected based on the comparison analysis and evaluation of the various characteristics. For example, the function, structure, strengths and weaknesses of the optical switches. After considering the nonblocking, modularity, upgrade ability and optical power loss of the several kind of the switch fabrics, a switch was selected. The selected switch fabric by using wavelength converters was controlled to avoid contention of the optical lines. In this experiment shows an example of three cases. As a result of this experiment, optical signal shows a changed peek of optical power in output. By showing a peak it confirms that the contention was avoided. By analyzing of changed optical power according to the channel setting time and release time to control of the switch could be determined. If this analysis applied to the network design, economical and efficient structures can be formed.

Recently, it is used to apply various improved methods to determine the cause of traffic accidents. However, most of vehicle black box usually start to store the video information by an event trigger in case that the impact value at that time exceeds the threshold impact value as compared the threshold impact value saved in advance with the current impact value. there are problems with above method that a lot video information should be saved in the memory card of the vehicle black box, and the user should delete the unwanted video information every time because of unclassified video store. In this paper, we propose the ontology-based context aware algorithm that the vehicle black box recognize the situation, and then remove the video data with a low weighting factor by itself for efficient memory management.

The purpose of this study (I) is to provide a new methodology for evaluating deterioration of buried pipe networks for the large-diameter old pipe improvement project currently performed by K-water. To develop a new assessment model for large-diameter pipe deterioration, this study has investigated the three representative methods for the pipe deterioration assessment such as evaluation methods 1995 and 2002, and the state evaluation method through literature reviews. The ten assessment factors were selected by considering large-diameter pipe characteristics as well as common factors with high priority in the three methods. Also, the weighting of the factors was estimated by a regression equation from experiments and analysis on domestic large-diameter pipelines and expert survey data. It is expected that the new assessment model developed by analysing the existing three models is more reliable to assess the deterioration of large-diameter pipe networks.

Although friction pendulum system has various advantages it is difficult to estimate the behavior because of velocity, bearing pressure, and temperature dependent characteristics of coefficient of friction. This research focuses on evaluating the conservatism of each method used and the effects of bearing pressure on the behavior of the system by conducting comprehensive examination on design and analytic procedure of friction pendulum system, as is proposed in standard, code and literature. In addition, this study provides comparative analysis on general behavior characteristics of friction pendulum system by comparing the result with that of the analysis on lead rubber bearing which possesses the same dynamic properties.

The retention basin is a river-facility for the flood mitigation by storing the river flow temporarily. The new 3 retention basins are installed in these regions YeoJu, NaJu, YoungWol by the Large River Management Project. In this study, 1D and 2D numerical flow simulation are conducted to evaluate the reduction effect of the peak flood stage for the YeoJu retention basin. HEC-RAS and FLDWAV models are used for 1D simulation with the option of retention basin. CCHE2D model is used for 2D simulation with the same hydrograph used in 1D simulation. It is verified that the peak flood stage is reduced very largely about 0.13 m near the overtopping section of the levee in 1D simulation. It is verified that the peak flood stage is reduced very largely about 0.20 m at the upstream-end of the simulated reach in 2D simulation. 2D simulation for the retention basin is more reasonable because physical characteristics of topography in the model, and also more advantageous for the evaluation of the flow characteristics of the in- and outside of the retention basin on the results of simulation of this study.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 506~514
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.506
Recently the interest about the vortex intakes are rapidly increased because of its performance to drain a plenty of collected storm water at a time. The tangential intake a kind of vortex intakes is very applicable because this type is very simple and little against other types, but it has a big weakness that the vortex flow is not been rarely created below the design discharge. In this study, the characteristics of a tangential intake and two kinds of a newly suggested compound section type intake are analyzed by the 3D numerical modeling based on theories about the control shift and free drainage condition. The analysis focused on the flow condition, flow surface formation, depth-discharge relation, area ratio of air core. Based on this study, the mild-sloped compound section type intake is the optimal, but steep-sloped compound section type is also the optional for the small design discharge.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 525~532
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.525
In this study, practical design method of coupling beams is proposed. The member forces varies according to the location of the members and the members at 25%~40% of building height shows large member forces. The 100mm increase of wall thickness causes 3~4% variation of member forces and the 100MPa increase of concrete strength decrease approximately 3% of member forces. The required strength of coupling beams is twice the resistant strength and 80% reduction of coupling beam stiffness is necessary to fulfill the design criteria. The stiffness reduction of coupling beams is not necessary over the entire stories and the strength reduction range can be estimated considering design requirements.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 539~546
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.539
The purpose of this paper is to suggest policy implications for the development of climate change plan in city scale. For a comparative case study, Changwon city in Korea and Portland city in U.S.A. were chosen. Climate change plans of both cities were analysed and compared in the perspectives of framework, climate strategies, and implementation. The findings from the comparative case study are suggested for policy implications as the followings. Firstly, the framework should be more simple and clearly integrated from goal to action plans. Secondly, more caution must be exercised for the major GHG triggers and adaptation policy measures. Finally, establishment of clear timeline is the first step of leadership in climate change plan. Coordination agencies and sustainable assessment systems for monitoring each policies are essential for the successful implementation of climate change plan.

In Korea, quantitative growth rate of artificial reef construction is supposed to reach the peak point therefore, new approach is needed to the point of artificial reefs business. Functional reefs like shellfish reefs, recreational reefs, seaweed reefs as well as fish reefs are beneficial alternatives. This study conducted hydraulic testing to assess the stability of new types of artificial reefs (ARs) constructed to promote the growth of shellfish and seaweed. The results of this study revealed that some dimensionless design parameters affected the stability of new types of artificial reef under various wave and water depth conditions in the fixed bed condition. The findings also highlight the importance of hydraulic experiments in solving problems that have emerged in the design and construction of artificial reefs.

A modular fish-bone girder pier consists of one main girder system named as "Spine Girder". Therefore, this pier can be most affected by torsion as well as flexural bending. The design considerations of the fish-bone girder pier are proposed to assure the reasonable design in this study. In order to investigate the behavior characteristics, structural analysis F.E model is developed, and the verification of the developed model is performed by comparison with experimental data. From the investigation of the structural behavior, the vertical stiffener is required at the bottom of bone-beams to prevent the excessive local stress. Also, it is found that the normal stress of the flange and the shear stress of the web and flange are dominantly affected by the warping torsion and pure torsion, respectively.

We developed and evaluated a fluorescence-based optical DO sensor (OS-100, Global Optical Communication Ltd., Korea) for long-term monitoring of the dissolved oxygen concentration in waste water treatment. Fluorescent sensing membrane containing
(tris(4,7diphenyl-1, 10-phenanthroline) ruthenium(II)) was prepared with GA sol-gel matrix and coated on a quartz plate by sprayed method. Properties of sensor film exhibit deviation about
under wide range of DO concentration from 3 to 10. The developed optical DO sensor was actually mounted in waste water from dyeing industry and successfully applied for on-line DO monitoring. Online monitoring results showed the changes of DO concentrations in wastewater treatment processes with accuracy better than
during the 6 months measurements period in vicious environmental conditions.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 1, 2014, Pages 575~580
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.1.575
The liquid crystalline copolymers were synthesized through direct polycondensation using 4-[4-(4-hydroxyphenoxy)butoxy]benzoic acid (HBBA) and p-hydroxy benzoic acid (HBA) as monomers. The structure and properties for synthesized copolymers were investigated by
-NMR, FT-IR, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and polarizing optical microscope (POM). As result of investigations, inherent viscosities (
) of polymers were measured as 0.77~1.60 dL/g in phenol/p-chlorophenol/1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane (25/40/35=w/w/w). Except for P-80, the ranges of the transition and mesophase temperature of copolymers were increased with increasing the amount of HBA. These properties of polymers were presumably due to increasing of the irregularity and rigidity of polymer chains.

Mixing effect on anaerobic digestion of livestock wastewater was different results depending on the researchers have been reported. The purpose of this study was to understand application of Korea livestock waste it was necessary to determine the effect of mixing. 4 anaerobic reactors were operated mesophilic and thermophilic temperature with continuous mixing or non mixing condition, respectively. Experimental result showed If temperature was same, TCOD removal efficiency of continuous mixing reactor was 0.11-0.58% higher than non mixing reactor. Different mesophilic and thermophilic temperature, there was no significant difference of TCOD removal efficiency. Continuously mixed digester gas production was 1.7-4.6% higher than non mixed digester. In addition, mesophilic digester gas production was 29.1-32.1% higher than the thermophilic digester. It was due to the thermophilic digester believe the inhibition of ammonia. This study suggest that the optimized operation condition of anaerobic digestion for livestock wastewater treatment was mesophilic continuous mixing state.

In this study, we investigated the methods of improving the capturing ability of acid fume by assessing the performance of slot-type external hood installed on both sides of an open surface tank for acid washing process. A field survey and the results of computational fluid dynamics revealed that capturing performance of existing hoods is very poor. To solve such problem, 'push-pull hood' that pushes from one side of an open surface tank and pulls on the other side was suggested. The initial prediction was that if a push-pull hood is used, the acid fume of an acid-washing tank surface could be moved towards the hood through the push flow. However, this study has confirmed that if the push flow velocity becomes too high, it could spread to other areas due to flooding from the hood. Therefore, if the push air supply is maintained at around 25
(push 10 m/s), proper control flow is formed on the surface of a tank and acid fume that stayed at the upper part of the tank is smoothly captured toward the hood, significantly enhancing the capturing performance.
