Hong, Sung-In ; Lee, Seung-Chul ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1229~1235
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1229
At the LPG vehicle air intake system, most of dust particles in the air cleaner are removed. However very small particles are not removed and accumulated. The accumulation of carbon in air intake system is going to affect the idle speed control and sensor signal. It also causes engine chattering and transmission troubles of automatic transmission. This is study about cleaning up intake system using cleaning chemical. We can clean up the intake system by spraying cleaning liquid onto intake device when the engine is idling after intake hose is removed from warmed up vehicle. We can obtain the following experimental results by cleaning up ISC, surge tank, intake manifold, intake valves and combustion chamber. According to this results, the stroll valve works correctly and power rate of engine is up to the standard, it is smoothy to control the idling speed when a vehicle pulls up. After cleaning up CO grow down about 0.15%, HC does about 20~100 ppm.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1247~1252
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1247
In the present study, sedimentation and shear stress of MR fluid are investigated to physical characteristics of MR fluid along temperature conditions. MR fluid is a suspension of micrometer-sized magnetic particles in a base liquid. Therefore, dispersion of MR fluid is important in the case of the design and optimization of the system using MR fluid. Due to sedimentation characteristics of MR fluid by magnetic particles, the sedimentation and shear stress of commercial MR fluid are investigated at
temperatures by using a forced convection oven and a viscometer. From experimental results, the sedimentation and shear stress are more affected by the temperatures of
and the mixing time of 5min than 10min. Shear stress by the applied current increases the shape of a quadratic equation and are lower 6-18% at

Jeon, Chan Yeal ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1253~1258
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1253
The tribological properties of TiC, TiN and TiC/TiN coatings on steels prepared by the cathodic-arc (CA) ion plating technique were investigated. Experiments were carried out on a tribo-test machine using a Falex journal V block system. The friction and wear characteristics of the coatings were determined by varying the applied load and sliding speed. The TiC, TiN and TiC/TiN coatings markedly increased the tribological characteristics of the surface. As far as a single layer coating was concerned, TiN goes better results than TiC. However, the TiC/TiN multilayer coating performed better than either single layer coating. The major factor in the improved performance of the multilayer coating was the role of TiC in improving the adhesion between the external TiN layer and the substrate steel.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1259~1264
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1259
Hydrogen is in the world limelight for future energy source, and it has been already used in various industry fields including aerospace. The extremely fine molecule of the hydrogen can be easily leaked from tiny size of the crack on the surface of transporting pipes or storage tanks, and it could bring on awfully terrible disaster. In this study, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) was employed to develope a reliable detection scheme for a small quantity of hydrogen leakage. Effect of three different metal substrates (i.e. Al, Cu, SUS) on plasma generation and the intensity of the hydrogen atomic signal was investigated, and the surface damage of the substrates due to repetitive laser shots was observed using Scanning electron microscope. It was also evaluated how the surface damage could distort the atomic signal. The intensity of the atomic signal was found to be the strongest, and the signal distortion due to the surface damage was approximately
lower when Al was used for the substrate.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1265~1271
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1265
The lamp cooling system of the exposure has effect on the exposure efficiency and device lifetime. In this paper, we performed the numerical analysis about the thermal flow in the lamp housing of the exposure apparatus for the cooling air inflow rate. We set up the velocity of cooling air of side and bottom as the independent variables because cooling performance of the lamp housing is affected by the velocity of the cooling air side and bottom. The cooling state of lamp housing depend on three dependent variables; the temperature at top mirror and exhaust gas, ellipsoidal mirror. Response surface methodology was used in order to establish the efficient cooling analysis plan. The regression equation predicting the variables temperature of lamp housing according to the cooling air velocity were drawn. The velocity of cooling air to reach the optimum temperature of the lamp housing were derived.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1272~1278
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1272
In this experimental study for the current growing offshore wind, a wind tunnel test was conducted to examine the performance of the vertical-type cross-flow wind turbine power generation system. Due to the limited size of the test section of the wind tunnel, the inlet guide vane of the original wind power generation was scaled down to about 1/5 and the turbine impeller diameter was also reduced to 1/2 of the prototype impeller. The number of the impeller blade is another important parameter to the output power of the wind power generation system and the number was varied 8 and 16. From the analysis of the experimental result, the output brake power of the model wind turbine was measured as 278watts with the 16-blade at 12 m/s of the rated wind speed and the rated brake power of the prototype wind turbine is calculated to 3.9kW at the rated operating condition.

The Korean government establishes a strategy to develop the Busan New Port as a world ranking two transit-oriented port. This paper aims at presenting an efficient inter-terminal transport (ITT) system in the Busan New Port as a method of achieving the government strategy. First, it presents results of long term forecast for the inter-terminal transportation volume in the port. Second, it proposes two systems to treat ITT in the port; Double stack Multiple Trailer System (DMTS) and Rail-based transportation system. The implementation methods in the port are introduced in detail for the both systems, and the required number of the systems and costs are calculated for implementation of both the systems. B/C for DMTS is analyzed to 3.7, moreover unit-fare per [
] can is lowered to 67% against current fare. DMTS is shown to highly potential for efficient ITT in the port.
A new method to estimate the striking velocity for small caliber projectiles
Yoo, Sangjun ; Kim, Jeyong ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1288~1293
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1288
This paper proposes a new method to estimate the striking velocity for ballistic limit velocity in MIL-STD-662F. The method from MIL-STD-662F needs relative air density, drag coefficient, form factor, ballistic coefficient for estimating striking velocity. So precedent studies are essential. However, the new method can estimate striking velocity only using measured velocities and distance between the screen and the target. To prove new method, we compared estimation of striking velocity from both the new method and the method from MIL-STD-662F on the basis of datain PRODAS. The new method shows bigger errors in some velocity ranges. But it could still calculate ballistic limit velocity. It also shows smaller errors in most velocity ranges.

Jung, So Yeun ; Kim, Geunyoung ;
Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1375~1381
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1375
The purpose of the present study was to test the mediating effect of children's creativity on the relationship among the openness to experience(OE) trait, maternal parenting behaviors, and their subjective well-being. 248 children attending elementary schools in the rural areas of Korea and their mothers were recruited. Results indicated that creativity partially mediated the relations between children's OE and their subjective well-being. However, creativity did not mediate the relations between maternal parenting behaviors and children's subjective well-being. Results of the present study suggest that the OE may influence children's adjustment through creativity. It is also implied that there may be no optimal parenting style which unconditionally promotes children's creativity.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1382~1389
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1382
As an origin and a starting point of business start-up, this start-up intention is believed to be the driving force of economic growth. Being aware of the importance of the start-up intention, the study looked into cause-and-effect relationships of variables focusing on intermediate roles of start-up self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation in self-leadership and start-up intention of business founders. In order to achieve the research goal, the study conducted both a survey targeting a total of 195 business founders registered at a business incubation center and an empirical analysis on the results of the survey. According to the findings from the analysis, the study first learned that the self-leadership would have a positive effect on the start-up self-efficacy and the intrinsic motivation which eventually proved that the self-leadership is a leading variable of the start-up self-efficacy and the intrinsic motivation. Second, both the start-up self-efficacy and the intrinsic motivation were observed to be positively related to the start-up intention. That finding signified that roles of the start-up self-efficacy and the intrinsic motivation are important to increase the start-up intention. Third, intermediate effects of the start-up self-efficacy and the start-up intention were discovered from the self-leadership and the start-up intention, the main topics of the research. Hence, in order to improve the start-up intention, the importance of the start-up self-efficacy and the intrinsic motivation should be recognized and promoted as well and for this goal to be achieved, the business founders should understand the idea that the self-leadership has to come first than anything else in this case. Based on the results of the research, the study offers theoretical and practical implications.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1590~1598
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1590
Based on an analysis on the difference on the measurement sites and their relations to osteoporosis diagnosis and prevalence, this study attempts to investigate the patterns of prevalence in skeletal sites in the aging process. The samples were driven by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2008-2010) on Korean females (n = 4,449) aged from 50 to 89 years. The result shows that the differences on affected sites in the aging process were detected as follow: the osteoporosis prevalence in lumbar spine was relatively high in 50s, 60s and 70s; however, the prevalence in the proximal femur (total hip and femoral neck) was higher in 80s. In terms of the diagnosis identified in a single site, the prevalence in lumbar spine seemed to decrease as age increases; but, the rate went up in the figure of femoral neck. Overall, the osteoporosis prevalence for the diagnosis detected in multiple sites was increased as age goes up. In general, the increase in lumbar osteoporosis prevalence starts earlier than that of femoral neck. The findings of this study also suggests that if the proximal femur site is only used for diagnosing women age in 50s, 60s and 70s, the significant portion of osteoporosis patients could be misdiagnosed as normal.

Stress is closely associated with oral diseases, being considered to be one of important variables to affect the improvement of oral health and the quality of life. In this study, a survey was conducted on 550 adults from July 1, 2012, to February 28, 2013. A path analysis was carried out to determine the influence of physical stress symptoms and psycho-emotional stress symptoms on dry mouth, oral mucosal disease and halitosis symptoms. The findings of the study were as follows: Oral mucosa affected halitosis in a direct effect and dry mouth exerted a direct influence on that as well. When stress symptoms affected halitosis, dry mouth and oral mucosa had an indirect impact on that as parameters. Dry mouth exercised a direct influence on oral mucosa. The above-mentioned findings suggested that the physical stress symptoms and psycho-emotional stress symptoms of the adults affected their dry mouth, oral mucosal disease and halitosis both in direct and indirect effects. As the stress of adults is closely bound up with their oral diseases, how to properly cope with stress should carefully be considered in order for them to lead a better life.

The purpose of this research is to observe the rate of breastfeeding and to identify factors related to the breastfeeding in rural area. We conducted a survey targeting 139 mothers whose infants are less than 60 months old in Ulju-gun, Ulsan. SPSS Win 18.0 program was used as the data analysis and a statistical statement by mean, standard deviation, and logistic regression analysis. According to the findings of this study, it indicated that the factors affecting the rate of breastfeeding in a rural region are mothers'job, 1 month breastfeeding after birth and the education of breastfeeding before birth. In this study we need to continuously conduct the breast feeding education by hospitals or clinics before birth, so that breast feeding can be provided well after birth. Also, we need to establish the social system and atmosphere without any disadvantages resulting from maternity leave so that working mothers can provide full breast feeding for six months after birth because the return to work can interfere with the practice of breast feeding.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1685~1690
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1685
This paper proposes a novel method to compensate for the measurement errors in detecting phase currents for vector-controlled inverter in real-time. The output torque equations for 3-phase induction motor are derived in terms of offset error and transducing gain error in current measurement circuits, and the equations shows that motor output torque has many ripples due to current measurement errors. Especially, if the proposed method is applied to vector-controlled inverter, the torque ripple by transducing gain error can be reduced in real-time at running state of motor. To verify the proposed method, it was applied to vector-controlled inverter for 3-phase induction motor of 200[W] and computer simulation and experimentation were carried out.

DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1711
There have been many studies on IEEE 802.15.4 for home area networks(HAN) in Smart Grids. Existing unslotted or slotted IEEE 802.15.4 has almost not met strict conditions of the U.S. Department Of Energy(DOE). This study proposed a improved algorithm that reduces collisions, delay time and changes in the delay time. For this purpose, numbers were given to nodes to make the transmission in the order of the node numbers. Since the probability of the occurrence of collisions would decrease compared to random transmission if the nodes were given numbers, Backoff time was set at 0. In the proposed Numbered-Unslotted-ZeroBackoff algorithm, when the packet size was 133 octets and less than 180 packets per second occurred, it was found that packet delivery ratio was over 99.99%, and that all the maximum delay, the mean delay and the minimum delay were less than 0.02 seconds. This paper could confirm that the algorithm proposed in this study met the strict conditions of the DOE.

This paper presents a pattern recognition analysis of two spirals problem and optimization of Cascade Correlation learning algorithm using in combination with a non-monotone function as CosExp(cosine-modulated symmetric exponential function) and a monotone function as sigmoid function. In addition, the algorithm's optimization is attempted. By using genetic algorithms the optimization of the algorithm will attempt. In the first experiment, by using CosExp activation function for candidate neurons of the learning algorithm is analyzed the recognized pattern in input space of the two spirals problem. In the second experiment, CosExp function for output neurons is used. In the third experiment, the sigmoid activation functions with various parameters for candidate neurons in 8 pools and CosExp function for output neurons are used. In the fourth experiment, the parameters are composed of 8 pools and displacement of the sigmoid function to determine the value of the three parameters is obtained using genetic algorithms. The parameter values applied to the sigmoid activation functions for candidate neurons are used. To evaluate the performance of these algorithms, each step of the training input pattern classification shows the shape of the two spirals. In the optimizing process, the number of hidden neurons was reduced from 28 to15, and finally the learning algorithm with 12 hidden neurons was optimized.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1749~1755
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1749
Technique for analyzing a pile installed by vibrohammer was developed and parametric studies were executed in order to evaluate reliability of the developed technique. Comparing the accelerations obtained from parametric studies of varying eccentric moment and frequency, it can be seen that magnitude of maximum acceleration was proportional to the eccentric moment and square of frequency. It can also be seen that amplitude of displacement was roughly proportional to the eccentric moment but has nothing to do with the frequency. It can be said that all of the analysis results reflect characteristics of behavior of a pile in case of free vibration. Comparing the dynamic load transfer curves, maximum dynamic unit toe resistance was constant regardless of the eccentric moment and the frequency and it can be seen that dynamic unit skin friction was affected by the eccentric moment not by frequency. Comparing all of the analysis results, it can be said that the developed technique is reliable.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1756~1763
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1756
A water pipeline buried under the riverbed could be exposed by bed erosion, therefore safe crossing sections should be analyzed for preventing damages due to the exposure of pipelines. In this study, flow and bed changes have been simulated using a two-dimensional numerical model for selecting the optimized section of pipeline crossing in the Geum River. As a result of simulation with the 20-year recurrence flood, sediment deposition has been distributed overall in the channel and bed erosion over 2 m has occurred near bridge piers. For the extreme flood simulation, the channel bed near the bridge piers has been eroded down to the buried depth. Therefore, within 140 m upstream of the bridge piers, bed erosion affects a buried pipeline in safety due to bridge pier effects and the crossing section over 150 m upstream of bridge piers is selected as a safe zone of a water pipeline.

Numerical investigations have been conducted on the junction that connect the multi-tubular section and the single shell section in order to evaluate applicability of hybrid sections in wind turbine towers instead of conventional single shell towers. Major characteristics in structural details include extension of multi-tubular member into shell end section, installation of wing stiffeners, and different layout of floor beams. Elastic and nonlinear incremental analyses were conducted to examine stress concentration patterns and ultimate behaviors, respectively. Based on evaluation of structural performance due to vertical and horizontal forces, it has been confirmed that installation of floor beams and wing stiffeners sensitively affect ultimate strength of global wind tower.

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society, volume 15, issue 3, 2014, Pages 1795~1800
DOI : 10.5762/KAIS.2014.15.3.1795
The temperature change in the biologically activated sludge wastewater treatment process was predicted using the heat transfer model. All incoming and outgoing heats in wastewater treatment processes were considered. Incoming heats included the solar radiation heat, the heat from impeller mechanical energy, and the biochemical heat in the aeration process. Outgoing heats comprised the radiation heat from the waste itself, the heat of vaporization and surface aeration, the wind convection heat and the conduction heat between the surface and aerator. All heats were used as an input to the existing empirical heat transfer model. The heat transfer model of wastewater treatment processes is presented also. To test the validity of the heat transfer model, the operating conditions of the actual wastewater treatment plant were used. The temperatures were compared with the model temperatures. Model predictions were consistent within the
