Design of Resonance Linear Electric Generator System for Vibration Energy Harvesting in Vehicle Suspension

The purpose of this research was to develop a resonance electric power generator to harvest vibration energy while the vehicle is driving on a road surface. The electric power generator in the paper was designed using the resonance phenomenon to effectively respond to vibrations from the road surface, which is a comparatively small energy source. Vibration displacement analysis using MATLAB and transient analysis using Ansys MAXWELL, which is a commercial electromagnetic analysis program, was performed to predict the input velocity for the generator and verify the electric power generation. If this electric power generator is applicable to hybrid or electric vehicles, it can be valuable around an automotive electric system and help maintain the performance of the vehicle battery.
A Study on the Development of a Range Hood Front Cover using Change Core Method

Recently, considerable effort has been made to maintain a pleasant and safe indoor environment in buildings. For this, the use of a ventilation system attached to a range hood in kitchens has prevailed. Accordingly, diversiform designs for range hoods have been used. Press molding is normally used for range hood construction for several reasons. On the other hand, its economic efficiency is low in the case of a small production work. Considerable research has been carried out to solve this problem and it is believed that it is useful to use the change core method to develop molds. Numerical study of a conical MILD combustor with varing the fuel flow rate

MILD combustion is a highly favored technology for solving the trade-off relation between high thermal efficiency and low pollutant emissions. The system has low NOx concentration in high temperature combustion by recirculating the combustion gas, as well as improving the thermal efficiency by making the internal temperature in a combustion furnace uniform. This study describes the combustion characteristics of a conical MILD combustor in a laboratory-scale furnace by adjusting the equivalence ratio with the fuel gas flow rate while maintaining a constant air flow rate of the furnace. The MILD regime in the furnace is well characterized and the in-furnace temperature and emissions were predicted, respectively, for the range of equivalence of 0.69 - 0.83. For the range of equivalence ratios, this study confirmed the existence of a stable flame region that has an approximately
temperature difference between the maximum flame temperature region and main reaction region.
Development of automatic inspection system of defects on inner surface of pneumatic cylinder-tubes by electronic endoscope

The system developed inspects automatically defects existing on an inner surface of anodically treated aluminum cylinder-tubes. This system consists of automatic inspection software, and electronic endoscope and a conveyor moving device. By applying the optimal brightness conditions to searching for various defects on the inner surface of cylinder tube, the recognition rate of major defects, such as scratch, oxide and weld line reached 99%. If the present visual inspection process is replaced with the automatic defects inspection system, the physical fatigue of the operator could be reduced and the productivity could be increased. The automatic inspection system developed could also improve the quality of the products.
Effects of the Combustion and Emission Characteristics in a CRDI Engine Biodiesel Blended Fuel with and EGR rate

An experimental study was performed to compare the characteristics of the combustion pressure and exhaust emissions in the case of using pure diesel when the EGR rate was changed in a CRDI 4-cylinder diesel engine with those using biodiesel blended and pure diesel fuel. In this study, the EGR rate variation were conducted at an engine speed of 2000rpm with fuel with a biodiesel blended rate of 20%. The combustion pressure of the biodiesel blended rate 20% and pure diesel fuels decreased with increasing EGR rate. The IMEP of biodiesel was higher than that of ULSD (Ultra low sulfur diesel). The emission results showed that the NOx emission of biodiesel blended fuel with increasing EGR rate was higher than that of ULSD. In addition, the NOx emission of biodiesel blended and diesel fuel decreased with increasing EGR rate. The CO and soot,
emissions increased with increasing EGR rate, and the CO and soot emissions from the biodiesel blended fuel were lower than that of ULSD but the
emissions were higher.
Feasibility Study on a Defrost Control Method by Using a Photoelectric Sensors

Conventional methods, such as the clock time control method and temperature difference control method, for defrost control often encounter mal-defrost and a waste of energy. Therefore, a more efficient method is needed to control defrosting precisely. A photoelectric sensor unit consisting of an emitter and a collector was installed in the front of outdoor heat exchanger. Accurate defrost control was performed by monitoring and using the change in output voltage according to the presence of frost. In this study, experiments were performed to determine if the performance and characteristic curves obtained using the clock time control method can be reproduced using a photoelectric sensor under the heating and defrosting capacity test condition described at KS C 9306. The output voltage of the phototransistor (receiver) and heating capacity, power consumption, and surface temperature of the outdoor heat exchanger, were compared. The results showed that photoelectric sensors can be used as a defrost control method. On-off control timing of the clock time defrosting method was in good agreement with those predicted by the output voltage of the photoelectric sensor.
Study for Mechanical Strength according to Thickness of Specimen in the Ceramic Injection Molding Process

The importance of shape design for strength is highly regarded when applied to thin plate products in Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM), such as cases for electronic goods. This study analyzed the characteristics of the mechanical strength of CIM product by measuring the flexural strength and elastic modulus through a 3-point bending test according to the thickness of a thin plate test piece prepared by CIM. The specimen with a thickness of 0.48mm required a 82.9~94.5N fracture load, whereas a 1.0mm thick test piece required 233.6~345.8N. The increase in thickness by 0.5mm resulted in a 3-fold increase in the fracture load, whereas the elastic modulus decreased by 20%. The thicker the specimen, the lower relative density and surface hardness of the specimen. This is because the thicker the specimen, the lower the powder fraction of the ceramic mixture, and the material properties partially change after sintering.
Effect of Combustion Instability on Heat Transfer in a Subscale Thrust Chamber

Hot-firing tests were carried out using a mixing head with 19 swirl coaxial injectors and a combustion chamber with internal cooling channels. The propellants of liquid oxygen and kerosene(Jet A-1) were burned in a range of chamber pressures (59~82 bar) and mixture ratios (2.0~3.0). The temperature of water used as the cooling fluid was measured at the inlet and outlet of the cooling channels, and the heat flux was calculated. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of combustion instability on heat transfer in a subscale thrust chamber, and detect the temperature variation of cooling water. During several hot-firing tests, combustion instability was encountered which caused a 5~20% increase in heat flux. The peak heat flux took place in the initial stages of combustion instability.
A Study on the Heat Sink with internal structure using Peltier Module in the Forced Convection

The heat generated by electronic devices can result in performance degradation. Therefore, a heat sink has been used to release the operating heat into the air outside. This study addressed a methodology for a heat sink with an inner tunnel. Under forced convection conditions, the heat transfer characteristics were different so the cooling and heating performances were studied for the heat sink with an inner tunnel. This was evaluated by performing the experimental test examining the heat transfer characteristics related to the variance in time and temperature distribution. In the cooling experiment, the temperature of the A-shape was lower than that of the B-shape, when the voltage was 10 V. These experimental results indicate the optimal cooling effect. In a heating experiment, the temperature of the A-shape was higher than that of the B-shape, when the voltage was 13 V. The experimental results showed that the temperature and efficiency of the A-shape were higher than those of the B-shape.
Development of Inspection System for Surface of a Shock Absorber Rod using Machine vision

A shock absorber rod is located in the center of the absorber piston and is responsible for the reciprocating movement portion. If it has surface defects, the damping performance of product will be adversely affected. A rod surface has gloss by heat treatment. Therefore, it is difficult to find a defect, such as dust, imprints, and blowholes. Because a total inspection is achieved by visual inspection by workers, it causes eyestrain and the quality of the product is not constant. In this paper, a machine vision system was developed to find a defect using a line-scan camera. The machine can detect surface defects than 0.3mm. To minimize the occurrence probability of defects on the inspection process, the developed auto inspection system had an automatic feeding system and incorporated a protection system. Through the development of this system, which relies on the operator`s visual inspection of the surface of the shock absorber, the Rod inspection system constructed quality inspection standards and standardized tests to ensure improved reliability.
An Evaluation of the Structural Stability of a Clip Type Prefabricated Greenhouse under Strong Wind and Heavy Snow Conditions

Numerical studies were performed to evaluate the structural safety of a greenhouse under both snow and wind loads. In the case of a wind load, fluid-structure interaction (FSI) method was used to consider the local pressure distributions on the greenhouse-induced by aerodynamic characteristics. The results showed that the maximum stress and deformation occur near the junction of pipe supports and rafters of the roof, where connecting clips are installed. Moreover, the wind load is a more severe condition than a snow load. Overall, these results will be used to design a prefabricated connecting clip with easy installation and low maintenance.
Case study of SAMSUNG TFT-LCD Technology Innovation using TRIZ method

In the TFT-LCD(Thin Film Transistor-Liquid Crystal Display) panel manufacturing industry, SAMSUNG, a late entry, can catch up to leading first mover, SHARP. The changes the note, monitor, TV, and mobile markets in the TFT-LCD industry were studied using a system analysis method. In addition, the fast response time technology in SAMSUNG TFT-LCD technology was developed using the TRIZ method. For example, a new liquid crystal mixture of a wide view angle and fast response time were developed by doping a new high birefringence liquid crystal material in a base mixture using the contradiction method and su-field method of TRIZ. The response time of a new liquid crystal mixture was improved to approximately 60%(16.2ms with base LC mixture, 9.8ms with a new LC mixture).
Nonliear vibration analysis of polyurethane foam

A dynamic modeling and prediction of polyurethane foam material, which is used as the seat in vehicles is very important for improving the ride quality of vehicle occupants. In this study, parameters to define the nonlinear stiffness and time-variant characteristics of the viscoelasticity of polyurethane foam were obtained using a static compression test. Polynomial functions and convolution integral were used to model the nonlinear and viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam mathematically. The dynamic behaviors excited by the seat floor displacement were analyzed using a numerical integration method for the nonlinear vibration model. As a result, the viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam was found to be an important parameter for improving the ride quality.
Moire Interferometry Measurement and Numerical Analysis for Hygroscopic Swelling of Al-Polymer Joint

A simple method to evaluate the hygroscopic characteristics of polymer of microelectronic plastic package is suggested. To evaluate the characteristics, specimens were prepared, and the internally absorbed moisture masses were measured as a function of the absorbing time and calculated numerically. The hygroscopic pressure ratio was calculated by heat transfer analysis supported by commercial FEM code because the hygroscopic diffusion equation has the same form as the heat transfer equation. The moisture masses were then summed by the self developed code. The nonconductive polymers had quite different characteristics for the different lots, even though they were the same products. The absorbed moisture mass variations were calculated for several different characteristics, and the optimal curve of the mass variation close to experimental data was selected, whose solubility and diffusivity were affected by the hygroscopic characteristics of the material. The method can be useful in the industrial fields to quickly characterize the polymer material of the semiconductor package because the fast correspondence is normally required in industry. The weight changes in the aluminum-nonconductive-polymer joint due to moisture absorption were measured. The deformed system was also measured using the Moire Interferometry system and compared with the results of finite element analysis.
A Study on the Secondary Optimization Analysis based on the Result of Primary Structure Analysis for the Die Thickness

Generally existing structure analysis was applied to elastic analysis basically in practice. Considering the nonlinear material and the nonlinear geometric to be a more precise analysis, for this reason, The necessity for a structual analysis have been constantly required. Therefore, after optimization is performed, designed a simple model which is applied the principle of nonlinear in this study, a structural analysis of existing experienced users, have a aims at presenting theory and a method in order to perform anyone the analysis easily. In this study, the proposed model applied to die ribs, Regarding the shear load, less strain and stress was generated but strength was sufficient. The initial strain and stress was reconfigured to fit the size and shape, A hyperstudy in conjunction with Abaqus with nonlinear structural analysis, revealed an acceptable maximum and minimum range of stress and under the conditions of minimum strain, the plate made with a constant increment. In the experimental models, the plate thickness was given a power of 40 Newton, according to the thickness of the press die through an iterative process. When the stress and strain was applied to the die thickness, 7-8mm thickness could be obtained by optimizing.
Design and Experiment of Coil gun to Apply Electomagnetic Launcher System

This paper reports the design and experiments for a high drive force of projectile in a coil gun system. Currently, the coil gun has been studied to apply an electromagnetic launcher. A coil gun launches a projectile by the attractive magnetic force of the electromagnetic coil. The drive force of projectile is proportional to the magnetic force generated by the electromagnetic coil. The current affects the life of the coil and the current limit exists. Therefore, the coil gun design, which does not exceed the current limit and the magnetic forces are at the maximum, is required. For this purpose, this study calculated the magnetic flux density and forces of the coil gun system and determined the current limit of the coil using the Onderdonk`s equation. Based on the design result, a prototype was manufactured and an experiment was conducted to measure the muzzle velocity of the projectile. The fired projectile was analyzed using a CCD camera, and the muzzle velocity was 21m/s. In addition, a comparison of the experimental value and analysis value using commercial electromagnetic analysis software MAXWELL revealed an error of approximately 9.5%.
The Effects of Experience Activities for Kitchen Garden Cultivation on Children`s Inquiry Skills and Dietary Attitudes

This study examined the effects of the experience activities for kitchen garden cultivation on children`s inquiry skills and dietary attitudes. To achieve this, an experiment was conducted on a total of 43 kindergarten children in a class of 4- and 5-year-olds, who were classified into an experimental group of 35 children (20 male children, 15 female children) and control group of 20 children (8 male children, 12 female children), in Daejeon Metropolitan City. This study showed that children`s experience of kitchen garden cultivation helps improve their inquiry skills and dietary attitudes. The results proved their experience activities for kitchen garden cultivation to be useful for improving their inquiry skills and dietary attitudes. Consequently, their experience activities and inquiry learning of participant observation using a natural subject like kitchen garden cultivation can be encouraged to improve the awareness, which can improve their dietary attitudes as the responsibility of their family, and their distorted dietary habits and attitudes. In other words, these results highlight the interdisciplinary and educational usefulness in that their inquiry learning can expect a high educational effect.
Effect of LCSI- based self-growth program on self-efficacy, adjustment to college life of undergraduates

This study examined the effects of a 4 week, 8 session LCSI programs on the self-efficacy, adjustment to college of undergraduates. The number of participants was 39 students at one region. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and Pearson correlation were used with SPSS WIN 18.0. The results are summarized as follows. The self-efficacy and underlying factors of self-efficacy in self-confidence, sense of self-regulated, task difficulty increased significantly, and the underlying factors of adjustment to college life academically, socially, emotionally, physically, love of the university, and adjustment to college increased significantly. Therefore, the self-growth program using LCSI, self-efficacy and adjustment to college life appears to have significant effects, and the LCSI program is more useful to consider the characteristics of each person by applying a range of situations to plan and deliver, such as communication or subjects, and conflict management in a variety of situations.
An Empirical Study on the Influence of Web site`s Quality Assessment of Entrepreneurial Company to Customer`s Satisfaction and Purchase Intention

Because the increased number of Internet users and the common use of IT technology via the expansion of domestic IT infrastructure have increased the web site use of companies, Internet users have begun to experience a range of online websites. In a digital environment, entrepreneurial companies who have limited resources will require effective management by analyzing the critical factors of the website quality assessment and focusing their resources to seize the market because the website quality built in the company directly affects the satisfaction and purchase activity of the customers. In this study, a total of 523 surveys from the customers visiting online websites of the entrepreneurial companies were collected to analyze the factors between the influencing factors and satisfaction and purchase intention using the ServQual method in the AMOS 18.0 program. This analysis showed that the customers visiting the website are satisfied with the factors of tangibility, reliability and responsiveness of visited websites, and the factor of community, which indicates that the level of customer activity in the web sites is related significantly to the customers` purchase intentions.
Comparison of structure modeling with perceived service quality, reason of selection, satisfaction and loyalty of consumers by type of driving range

This study examined the relationship among service quality perceived by consumers according to the types of driving ranges(I: indoor and outdoor), market segmentation, the reason for choice of the driving range, customer satisfaction and loyalty and analyze their causal relationship. To reach this goal, this study conducted a questionnaire research for consumers of driving ranges by dividing it into the indoor and outdoor ranges. The quest-factor analysis(SPSSWIN Ver 13.0), the confirmatory factor analysis and the structural equation modeling method (AMOS 6.0) were used to analyze the data collected for this study. Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: The reason for the choice in both indoor driving and outdoor driving had no direct influence on the customer loyalty, but it had an indirect influence on the customer loyalty through customer satisfaction and service expectation. In addition, the service expectation had a direct influence on the customer loyalty in both indoor driving and outdoor driving. Therefore, the customer satisfaction in both indoor driving and outdoor driving serve as a significant mediating variable to reinforce the relationship between the service quality and customer loyalty.
What Makes Twitterers Retweet on Twitter? Exploring the Roles of Intrinsic/Extrinsic Motivation and Social Capital

This study examined what determinants affect the intention of retweeting on Twitter from the perspectives of motivations and social psychology. The primary theoretical foundations are the theory of reasoned action (TRA), motivation theory and social capital theory. An online survey was administrated to collect the data. The data collected was analyzed using the structural equation model (SEM). The findings showed that both the attitude toward the retweeting behavior and subjective norm have significant effects on the intention to retweet. The results also showed that the attitude toward the retweeting behaviors was influenced by the individual intrinsic motivation and the norm of reciprocity. Social trust also had a significant influence on the intention to retweet. This study discusses the implications of these findings.
An effect of academic achievement for `beautician(skin) education and training course` suggested by `NCS` on profession and practice suitability

This study verified the effects of `the education and training course for Aestheticians(Skin)` suggested by `NCS`, which is an outcome of the government`s efforts to change from an `educational background-centered society` to a `capability-centered society` on the `profession` and `practice suitability` of actual aestheticians(skin) positively. As a result, three factors except for hygiene-related subjects and basic occupation capability had significant effects on the practical capability, and 4 factors except for the `basic occupation ability` had significant effects on the `profession` of skin beauticians. This suggests that people understand as a concept related to professionalism, even though hygiene-related subjects are associated with the customer`s health, so it is very important. This means that awareness should be exchanged from practical capability, not professionalism, for hygiene-related subjects. In addition, the basic occupation capability is difficult to acquire for a short time and is organized by the capabilities, which are expected to have synergy effects when combined with professionalism knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare concrete measures to cultivate the basic occupation capability. When the government currently presents the `NQF` establishment, it will be necessary to check the `NCS` based on it. On the other hand, there has been no action of the academic world and government. In addition, the subjects related to common occupation capability, skin-related subjects and nail-related subjects are judged to cultivate manpower focusing on the capability, but hygiene-related subjects and basic occupation subjects are judged to seek a new direction to apply as a curriculum for cultivating manpower focusing on capability.
The Mediating Role of Perceived Customer-related Social Stressor on the Relation between Emotional Labor and Burnout

The purpose of this study was to verify the differential influences of two emotional labor strategies on perceived CSS and burnout, and the mediating role of perceived CSS between emotional labor and burnout. The data was collected using self-reported questionnaires. A total of 568 hotel service employees who worked in various service jobs, participated in this study. The result indicated that surface acting had a positive influence on perceived CSS and burnout, and perceived CSS performed a mediating role between surface acting and burnout. In addition, deep acting had a negative effect on burnout but no effect on perceived CSS. As a result, deep acting reduced burnout without increasing perceived CSS, unlike surface acting. These results suggest that the two emotional labor strategies need to be treated differently. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.

Although there are many positive sides of the current fee-for-service payment schedule, there is a strong necessity to control the rapidly increasing national healthcare expenditure. The global budget is often mentioned as one prominent alternative for solutions. In this article, both microscopic and macroscopic approaches are considered to set the hospital medical expenditure budget. In a macroscopic aspect, the SGR model, which considers the financial limit of the healthcare system, is used to set the next year target budget. In addition, the DEA model is used to measure the inefficiency and cost recognition. In this article, the national medical target expenditure is distributed to an individual hospital based on the level of efficiency. By combining the SGR and DEA, it will be possible to set a real world applicable target medical expenditure budget model.

Cultural Awareness of Native English Teachers Who Work at Regular Kindergartens in Korea

Korean National Level Kindergarten Curriculum does not include English education in regular class time. On the other hand, more than 90% kindergarteners are taught English. This study examined the Native English Teachers` (NETs`) cultural aspects of their teaching at regular kindergartens in Korea. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with four NETs who were working at regular kindergartens in Korea, their partner Local English Teachers (LETs) and kindergarten principals. All interview data was transcribed and categorized based on the grounded theory method. The results showed that NETs are not required to be culturally prepared to teach in Korean kindergartens. Consequently, most of them do not consider the students` culture in their teaching activities. Moreover, Korean kindergartens, where research participants work, are not prepared well to invite NETs into their regular curriculum. These results will have significant implications on Korean kindergarten`s English education practice.
An Analysis on the correlation between the rate of increase in deposit received of Nonghyup Mutual Finance and the default Rate

This study assessed the validity of establishing and implementing a financial supervisory policy considering that Mutual finance`s increase in deposits received raises the rate of loans in the process that the recent financial supervisory authorities applied various regulatory measures to mutual financial organizations. As a result of the analysis with a least squares regression model for the correlation between the rate of increase in the deposits received by Nonghyup Mutual Finance and the default rate of loans through the complete enumeration on the 1,161 the regional Nonghyup branches nationwide from 2005 to 2011, showed that there was no (+) correlation between them the financial supervisory authorities premised but a (-) relation. As Nonghyup is a mutual financial organization with the phenomenon that the application plan of increased deposits received is becoming diversified, the increase in deposits received helps reduce the procurement interest rate of funds, which provides a chance to apply the low interest of loans again, so they have positive effects on the overall loans. Financial Supervisory authorities should re-establish a direction of policy understanding the characteristics of Nonghyup`s fund use and the detailed correlation between the rate of increase in deposits received and the default rate.
Mediating Effects of Intrinsic Motivation on The Relationship Between Positive Psychological Capital, Psychological Empowerment and Creativity

This study examined the relationship among PsyCap(positive psychological capital), psychological empowerment, personal creativity and verified the mediated effects of intrinsic motivation in this relationship using the SEM(Structural Equation Model). For this study, the data was collected through on/off-line surveys of members and managers from 12 different enterprises. Among the 418 answers from voluntary participating employees, 332 answers were finally used for statistical analysis. The results were as follows. First, PsyCap had a positive influence on the intrinsic motivation and personal creativity. Second, Psychological Empowerment had a positive influence on intrinsic motivation, but psychological empowerment has no influence on creativity. Third, intrinsic motivation had a meaningful influence by partially mediating PsyCap and personal creativity but completely mediated psychological empowerment and personal creativity. This study focused on intrinsic motivation among the internal factors that have influences on showing personal creativity and has importance in the point that it has suggested the statistical significance by analyzing the psychological/emotional mechanism to reinforce this intrinsic motivation in a positive way. Positive analysis on the relationships among these variables suggests a theoretical meaning on providing a future direction for the study and practical meaning on providing ideas to reinforce the employees` personal creativity. This study analyzed the efficiency of a program designed for enforcing the job-seeking ability to overcome the career-barriers as well as the effect of the job-seeking efficacy toward the job-maintaining willingness of the disabled. For this research, the job-seeking ability enforcement program, which was started by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, was executed towards the 86 disabled by 7 sessions, which has been operated 6 hours a day for 4 days per week from December in 2012 to November in 2013. The survey for the study was taken twice with the same questionnaire toward the same object; one was a pre-survey that has been done before operating the program and the other was a pro-survey that was done after operating the program. The data was analyzed to obtain the 4 variables of job-seeking efficacy to overcome the career-barriers, which were self-efficacy, job-seeking skill, interpersonal relationship skill and job-information exploration and the 5th variable, job-maintaining willingness. The study findings were as follows. Firstly, the program efficiency was significant in interpersonal relationship skill and job-information exploration, while not significant in self-efficacy and job-seeking skill. Secondly, the self-efficacy and interpersonal relationship skill among the job-seeking efficacy to overcome career-barriers positively affects the job-maintaining willingness.

This paper discusses the cognitive function of the image, focusing on the thought-evoking function of the image. Collages artworks were developed to determine how specifically the thought-evoking function of an image takes effect in actual cases. In addition, the cognitive responses of the research participants on the image were analyzed, centering on the thought-evoking function of the image, through an in-depth interview. The image performs the function to concentrate attention on a specific object and to process it more thoroughly. The image increases the immersion of the participants, evoked thought and activated conversation. This study probed the cognitive function of the image and is expected to greatly expand our understanding of human cognition. In particular, it is expected to provide useful insight into the integration of science and art.
A study on the item characteristics differences of response position, response length, and question types of multiple-choice aptitude tests

This study examined the difference in the item characteristics in multiple-choice aptitude tests focusing on the response position, response length and question types. A university aptitude test consisting of 80 questions was used for this study. The subjects were 3120 senior high school students from 80 schools nation-wide (liberal arts-1650, natural sciences-1467 patients). The results suggest that item prediction is higher for numbers 2 and 3 (located in the middle) than numbers 1 and 4. The item discrimination was higher for pick-the-`wrong`-items than pick-the-`right`-items. In addition, longer choices are preferred. The suggestions for future research are provided based on these findings.
A Study on the Perceptions and the Needs of Parents on Forest Experience Activity

The aim of this study was to inquire into the perceptions and the needs of parents on their forest experience activity. To achieve this, a survey was carried out on 250 parents of children in a Gyeonggi-based private kindergarten from December 26 to December 31, 2013. The results are as follows. For the perceptions of parents on the forest experience activity, the `perception on overall effectiveness` was the highest, followed in order by `perception on educational effectiveness` and `general perception`. For the needs of parents on their forest experience activity, 58.2% of them recognized the importance of regular forest experience activity. For the necessity of an annual program, 60.7% of them recognized the necessity of a planned annual program. For the recommendation of forest experience activity, 61.1% of them gave a strong recommendation for forest experience activity. As stated above, most parents positively viewed children`s forest experience activity in the environment as it is difficult to approach nature in downtown areas, and children also highly viewed the educational effectiveness of it.
The Multilevel Analysis for Factors effecting on the Health-related Quality of Life in Dental Technicians

This study was conducted to provide the basic data for the prevention and management of health risk of dental technicians by proposing the necessary data in the management of the health related quality of life of dental technicians. The subjects of the survey were 141 dental technicians working in 30 dental technical laboratories and corresponding companies in Daejeon area. A structured self-entry type questionnaire survey was implemented by measuring the work environment from December 20, 2011 to January 31, 2012 at the same time. The total score of health index showed a significant difference according to the working hours and smoking state as the a factor of the individual level, the physical health index showed a significant difference according to the smoking state and the exercise habits as the factor of the individual level. The mental health index showed a significant difference according to the working hours and smoking state as the factor of the individual level. The significant variable did not appear in the predictor of the group level. In conclusion, the quality of life of dental technicians in relation to health appeared to have a larger effect on the factor of the individual level than the factor of the group level.

This study was conducted to describe the relationship of Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experience and Clinical Practice Satisfaction of Nursing students. The participants were 223 nursing Students in K City who were surveyed using self report questionnaires from December 5 to December 20 and the data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0. There was a significant positive correlation among Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experiences and Clinical Practice Satisfaction. The predictors influencing Clinical Practice Satisfaction for Nursing students were Self-Directedness, Clinical Practice Experience and the factors explained 27.8% of Clinical Practice Satisfaction. The results of this study provided a foundation to develop efficient Clinical Practice program to improve Clinical Practice Satisfaction of Nursing students.

This study aims to enhance child care teachers` ability to offer health care by developing an educational program for children`s health care and safety. This study was carried out using a one-group pretest-posttest design based on a survey of 400 child care teachers in 3 cities. The educational program for child care teachers consisted of three parts: child health observations, disease management for child and emergency care for children. The educational program was conducted 3 times for 3 hours, totaling 9 hours. The educational program showed better grades of child care teachers in child health observation, emergency care for children, and disease management for children. The finding indicates that more child care teachers will adopt a health care education program to improve the quality of child care service.

The purpose of this study was to survey the perceptions and attitudes of university students towards the disabled. The subject`s were 794 students from "D" University. The collected data was analyzed using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheff
Test. For the disabled daily life and care-givers, many students considered that the disabled needed to be cared for by the government or public organizations. The students also considered that there would be no adverse effects on education if there was a special school in their village. They collected information related to the disabled from mass communication. They came up with government support being the most effective way of improving the awareness of the disabled. The specific positive attitudes about the disabled were as follows: emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and interchange. The attitudes for the disabled people showed a difference according to gender and grade. The results of the study showed that the perception and attitudes can be established based on the information collected.

This study was performed to determine the suicide ideation and its association with hopelessness, psychosocial stress and depression among some middle school students. The survey was administered to 975 middle school students in Gyeongin area during the period, May
, 2013. Structured self-administered questionnaires were delivered and collected without the respondents` personal information. As a result, concerning the correlation of depression with various factors, the level of suicide ideation was positively correlated with hopelessness, psychosocial stress and depression. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the factors influencing the suicide ideation included sex distinction, experience of alcohol drinking, hobbies and leisure life, subjective health status, grade, school violence experience, hopelessness, psychosocial stress and depression. An analysis of the covariance structure, hopelessness (BHOP) was more influential on the suicide ideation than psychosocial stress (PWI) and depression (CES-D). The study found that higher hopelessness, severe distress and higher depression tends to increase the suicide ideation.
Content Analysis of Nurse Images Perceived by Nursing Students

This study examined the nurse images perceived by nursing students. The study was specifically meant to determine what images grade 2 and 3 nursing students had about nurses before and after their clinical practice to define the nurse`s image. The selected nursing students were interviewed to obtain their opinions on the definition and necessity of a nurse and what a great nurse should be like as well as their prejudice about nurses, and content analysis was carried out to categorize their statements. As a result, 48 significant statements and 14 categories were selected. The findings of the study might not be generalizable because the subjects in this study were selected by convenience sampling from two different nursing departments located in Gangwon Province and Gyeonggi Province. More concrete and reliable results are expected if more students from more geographic regions are investigated.
Risk Factors for the Prevalence of Periodontal Diseases among Adult Workers

This study examined the demographic and oral behavioral risk factors for periodontal disease in adult workers. The research subjects and method were conducted targeting 1,650 Korean adult workers aged 20-64 utilizing the data from the fifth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES V-3). As a result of this study, the periodontal tissue patients showed the risk factors for gender, age, income level, educational level, systemic disease, sleep hours, oral health level, biting trouble, and chewing difficulty. In terms of the greatest influence, the workers with problems with biting and chewing had a more than 3.5 times higher likelihood of being affected by periodontal disease. The findings of this study show that there are a variety of risk factors for periodontal diseases in Korean workers. To reduce the prevalence rate of periodontal disease, regular checkups including dental checkups and sufficient sleeping will be necessary, and the level of stress should be decreased. In addition, the government should take the required measures to remove the socioeconomic inequality, such as income gap or educational divide.

A structured group program was implemented to facilitate mindfulness and self-compassion through a short meditation practices and its effects on the emotional well-being of counseling psychology students at a cyber university were observed. The participants attended a 4-week group program. Twenty-five total participants completed pre- and post-treatment measures of depression, psychological well-being, positive and negative emotions, mindfulness, and self-compassion. This program could provide a useful experiential introduction to mindfulness and self-compassion training for counseling undergraduate psychology students. Future studies should address the effects of practice on the mindfulness and self-compassion in larger student groups exposed to a range of stressful situations.
Relationships among professional identity, role conflict and job satisfaction of nurses in emergency department(ED)

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships among professional identity, role conflict and job satisfaction of nurses in and emergency department and to verify the factors that influence the job satisfaction. The subjects were 120 nurses in the emergency department of 2 tertiary hospitals and 5 secondary hospitals located in B city from July 1, 2013 to July 31, 2013. The professional identity and role conflict, and the professional identity and job satisfaction showed positive correlations. The factors influencing the job satisfaction were found to be the professional identity and `hoping to work at an emergency department in the future`. The full explanatory power of the model was 13.0%. Therefore, participating in a symposium and specialty enhancing training will be needed to enhance the specialty of emergency department nurses.
Neutron dosimetry depending on the number of portals for prostate cancer IMRT(Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy)

The aim of this study was provide basic information and establish the criteria in radiation therapy planning by measuring the absorbed neutron dose of normal tissues and lesions according to the number of portals. From September 2013 to January 2014, 20 patients who were diagnosed with prostate cancer and were previously treated with radiation therapy were replanned retrospectively to measure the absorbed neutron dose distribution according to the number of portals. The absorbed neutron dose was measured in each of the 5, 7 and 9 portals using a 15 MV energy, which meant a therapeutic dose of 220 cGy. The optical stimulation luminescence dosimeter was separated by 20cm and 60cm away from the center of the field of view. As a result, the average radiation dose in the abdomen appeared to have a positive relationship with the number of portals, which was statistically significant (p<.05). The average radiation dose was

. Although it showed a positive relationship with the number of portals, it did not have statistical significance. The number of portals and the neutron dose depending on the position showed a significant positive relationship, particularly in the abdomen. As a result of linear regression analysis, as the number of the portal increased in steps, the average volume of the neutrons increased significantly (0.416 times). In conclusion, efficient selection of the number of portals is needed considering the difference in the absorbed neutron dose in the normal tissues depending on the number of the portals.
Influence of Emotional Labor on Job Involvement, Job Satisfaction, and Turnover Intention of Clinical Nurses

This study investigated the emotional labor factors influencing job involvement, job satisfaction and turnover intention of clinical nurses. Study subjects were 258 nurses at a hospital in B city. The data was collected from October 11, to November 30, 2013. The data was analyzed using the SPSS win 21.0 program. The mean scores were 3.47 for emotional labor, 2.94 for job involvement, 2.88 for job satisfaction, and 3.49 for turnover intention. Emotional labor was negatively correlated with job involvement and job satisfaction, but positively correlated with the turnover intention. Multiple regression analysis showed that the participant characteristics after controlling for emotional labor had 33.9% of the explanatory power on job involvement 16% on job satisfaction, and 19.8% on the turnover intention. The results indicate that the emotional labor of nurses influences their job involvement, job satisfaction and turnover intention Therefore, it is necessary to concentrate on improving the emotional labor of nurses to increase their job involvement and job satisfaction.

This study was designed to evaluate the effects of arthritis and comorbid chronic conditions on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in the Korean older population. The study subjects were 2,708 Korean adults aged 65 and older from the
Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys data: 1,357 persons with a single chronic condition, such as arthritis, herniations of the intervertebral disc, osteoporosis, asthma, peptic ulcers, stroke, or cataract; 886 persons with arthritis and a second chronic condition described above; and 465 persons with no chronic condition. An analysis of covariance was performed to compare the EQ-5D index among the groups. The effects of arthritis, second chronic condition and their interactions were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. The results are as follows. Compared to men with arthritis only, men with stroke only, stroke and arthritis, or cataract and arthritis had a lower age adjusted EQ-5D index. Women with a stroke only, asthma only, cataract only, osteoporosis and arthritis, peptic ulcer and arthritis, stroke and arthritis, or cataract and arthritis had a lower age adjusted EQ-5D index than women with arthritis only. Arthritis and comorbid conditions had additive effects on the HRQol in both genders except for arthritis and stroke in women. In conclusion, comorbid chronic medical conditions in older people with arthritis may reduce the HRQoL in an additive manner.

This study examined the antioxidant capacities of apple peel, grape peel, and sweet potato peel. The antioxidant activities were evaluated using total phenolic contents, total flavonoids contents, DPPH radical scavenging activity, ABTS radical cation scavenging activity, FRAP reducing power, and ORAC assay. The total phenolic (7.76
quercetin equivalent/g peel) and total flavonoids (1.03
quercetin equivalent/g peel) contents in apple peel were significantly higher than in grape peel and sweet potato peel (P<0.05). The scavenging activities of DPPH and ABTS radicals of a 70% ethanol extract of apple peel was 3.2-4.6 and 2.8-5.4 times high than those of grape and sweet potato peel, respectively. In addition, the FRAP reducing power and ORAC assay of 70% ethanol extraction from apple peel were significantly higher than those of the other samples. Therefore, apple peel can be used efficiently as a natural antioxidant.
The influence of Procyanidins, Gallic acid and Theaflavins extracted level when fermented sun-dried salt and green tea

This study examined green tea fermented by the addition of sun-dried salt to increase the extraction of Procyanidins and Gallic acid and Theaflavins. An experiment on the change in the amount of the extract according to the saturation degree of sun-dried salt was performed. The sample of fermented only green tea extracted only Gallic acid (0.004 mg/g). No Procyanidins and Theaflavins were extracted. When the green tea was fermented by sun-dried salt, large amounts of the three compounds were extracted: Procyanidins, 75%(0.244 mg/g) and 100%(0.949 mg/g); Gallic acid, 75%(0.386 mg/g) and 100%(0.691 mg/g), and Theaflavins, 75%(0.083 mg/g). According to the date of fermentation, the largest amount of Procyanidins, Gallic acid and Theaflavins extracted were on the 2nd day(0.295 mg/g) and 7th day(2,256 mg/g) and 4th day(0.168 mg/g), respectively.

This study examined the age-related bone mineral density (BMD), accumulated bone loss rate (ABLR) at different skeletal sites in Korean men using the data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES)(the 1st (2010), 2nd (2010) and the year at the 5th survey). The cubic regression model was found to be the best for describing the age-related changes in BMD. The lumbar spine, total hip, femoral neck, trochanter, Ward`s triangle in the bone mineral density difference were analyzed by ANOVA. The peak BMD was at 20-24 years at the lumbar spine, total hip, femoral neck, trochanter, Ward`s triangle, and the 75-79 years of age group had the highest Accumulated Bone Loss Rate. Therefore, intensive management will be necessary for men over 75 years, and a diagnosis of osteoporosis in Korean men should be made according to The International Society for Clinical Densitometry; ISCD.

In sea water, microalgae are exposed to a range of critical environmental conditions. Microalgae are protected from UV-A radiation due to the presence of mycosporine like amino acids(MAAs). Owing to the UV-A absorption properties of MAAs, they are used widely as a UV protecting ingredient in cosmetics. Therefore, there is a need to increase the production yield of MAAs. This study investigated the production yield of MAAs in transformed microalgae by radiofrequency(RF) exposure. Initially, the Glut-1 gene was transformed to Chlamydomonas hedleyi microalgae as a glucose transporter. The biomass was enhanced after Glut-1 gene transformation. In addition, the MAAs production yield was increased during large scale production in bioreactors due to the RF treatment. Therefore, purified extracts of MAAs can be used as a sun block material in the cosmetic industrial field.

Recently, with the increase in electrical consumption and the unbalanced power demand and supply, the power reserve rate is becoming smaller and the reliability of the power supply is deteriorating. Under this circumstance, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is considered to be an essential countermeasure for demand side management. On the other hand, an economic evaluation is a critical issue for the introduction of a power system because the cost of BESS is quite high. Therefore, this paper presents economic evaluation method for utility use by considering the best mix method and successive approximation method, and an economic evaluation method for customer use by considering the peak shaving function based on the real time price. From a case study on a model power system and educational customer, it was confirmed that the proposed method is a practical tool for the economic analysis of BESS.

This paper proposes a methodology for developing the performance of a solenoid valve for vehicles based on the dynamic analysis model by an electromagnetic field. The high performance solenoid model with a low current and high thrust was induced through the shape optimal design of the yoke and plunger. To perform the dynamic analysis of the solenoid valve, the input current profile was analyzed. The speed and thrust information was analyzed by FEM with this current profile. The co-simulation method of the circuit model of control logic and electromagnetic model of the solenoid valve was also proposed to analyze the performance with several current patterns. Finally, the performance of the original model and optimal one was compared.

The rapidly aging population is also increasing the number of dementia patients rapidly. Studies have revealed the early signs of slowing progress. Therefore, dementia patient safety, continuous care, daily living, and health care are becoming more important. In this paper, a smart home care system using smart phones and Bluetooth communication technology was used to monitor the state of dementia patients of based on the results of grading dementia, health care of the dementia patients at home and provide for the safety of the system using motion sensors and gas leak sensors to respond to various emergency situations, such as fire, gas leak protection, and loitering. Using this system, the patient can stay longer in their home due to the nature of Korean culture before admission, while reducing the family`s economical, physical and psychological burden and allowing the consultation of specialists through the system by building a database of individuals and providing professional service and specialty care referral agencies through the link.

Shippers` requests of freight trains vary with time, but generating an additional schedule of freight trains is not easy due to many considerations, such as the line capacity, operation rules, and conflicts with existing trains. On the other hand, an additional freight train schedule has been continuously requested and manually processed by domestic train operation companies using empirical method, which is time consuming. This paper proposes a model to determine the additional freight train schedule that assesses the feasibility of the added freight trains, and generates as many additional schedules as possible, while minimizing the delay of the existing schedules. The problem is presented using time-space network, modeled as multi-commodity flow problem, and solved using the column generation method. Three levels of experiment were conducted to show validity of the proposed model in the computation time.

This paper proposes the smart emotion lighting control system of a mobile-based. The proposed smart emotional lighting control system to reduce the emotional lighting device, internal heat and the power consumption was configured to the android platform mobile device and zigbee module, emotional lighting device, lighting control module, power supply, and general-purpose transistor. The mobile device was to transmit the real-time control information to the emotional lighting device when connected to the system, and it was designed to control the emotion lighting device based on the control messages and status monitoring. In this paper, the efficiency verification results of the proposed smart emotional lighting control system showed that it was possible to control by emotion lighting control and the color temperature variable. The heating value and the power consumption could be reduced by21% and up to 48%, because of the controlled lighting using emotion language.

The U-health service provides medical services with patients anytime or anywhere and is defined as the service that combines information and communication technology with health and medical service. However, it causes some troubles, such as the disclosure of patients` medical information or data spills (personal information extrusion). Moreover, it has the weak point of the security threats associated with data based on existing wire-wireless systems because it conducts data transmission and reception through the network. Therefore, this paper suggests a safe personal information management system by designing integrated certification schema that will help compensate for the weaknesses of the U-health service. In the proposal, the protocols for user information, certification between medical institution and users, data communication encryption & decryption, and user information disuse were designed by applying the ID-Based Encryption, and analyzed such existing systems and PKI Based-based communication process, securely and safely.
Characteristics of Dynamic Load Transfer for Vertically Vibrating Pile

In this study, the dynamic load transfer function, which is necessary for analyzing a pile installed by a vibro hammer, was determined by comparing the results of the analyses and instrumented tests. The static load transfer function was modeled by the Ramberg-Osgood model through an analytical method before determining the dynamic load transfer curve. The parameters of the Ramberg-Osgood model were correlated with the N value of the standard penetration test and average values of the correlation coefficient were 0.97 for the shaft load transfer and 0.98 for the base load transfer. The dynamic load transfer function was simulated using the modified Ramberg-Osgood model. The results showed that there were little differences in the characteristics of dynamic load transfer between the results of the measurement and prediction.

This paper presents a model to estimate the amount of
emitted by cars in cities. Based on the spatial configuration of street networks, building masses and usages, it first develops a deductive model to combine them in a way to account for
emission amount by cars. It then proceed to validate model behaviours through a series of simulations on some ideal urban settings and finally calibrate it following its real application to the five case study cities in Korea. In contrast to the conventional `top-down` approaches, we expect our model to have high utilities, particularly in the field of urban planning and design, where we cannot but deal directly with the spatial configuration of urban components and microscopic human activities.

The limited laboratory test showed that the use of PCB in a porous pavement decreases the permanent deformation and will be an effective alternative method to reducing the permanent deformation of a porous pavement.
A Study on the roof curved ratio and slope of Korean Traditional Wooden Building - Focused on the Central Hall of Buddhist Temple -

The aim of this study was to classify the central Buddhist temple among the state-designated cultural assets, which were measured precisely, into the gable roof buildings and the gambrel roof buildings to analyze the Ang-Goak, Inside waist, ridge ratio, and roof inclination represented on the roof, and prepare basic objective material for the restoration and repair of cultural assets. As a result, as for the relationship between the roof curve and the inclination of the gable roof building and gambrel roof building, the following conclusions could be drawn. First, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist of the gable roof building had a close correlation with the building size, and the internal high pillar existence. In addition, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist were shown in the 7-ryangga structure, which is greater in size than in the 5-ryangga structure. This was found to be related to the building size. Second, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist of the gable roof building has a correlation with each other, and it was found that Inside waist also was large in the building with a larger Ang-Goak. The roof inclination rarely had a connection with variable factors (plane factor, elevation factor, and cross section factor). The sizes of Ang-Goak, Inside waist, and ridge ratio were similar in the outside 1 chulmok and outside 2 chulmok of gongpo but those sizes were relatively larger in outside 3 chulmok. Third, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist of the gambrel roof building moved independently for each building without a correlation with each other, unlike the case of the gable roof building. The front and the side showed a correlation with each other, and in the building with the large curve of the front side, the curve was also large in the sides. Fourth, in the case of the building with a high pillar inside the gambrel roof building, the Ang-Goak and Inside waist were larger. On the other hand, they were smaller in the case of a building without a high pillar. This was found to have a close relationship with the building size. In addition, the ridge ratio has a close connection with the building size and building height. Therefore, the ridge ratio is larger in a high building or large sized building. The roof inclination rarely has a correlation with variable factors, as in the case of the gable roof building.
A study on the evaluation of policy elements for a solution of long-term unexecuted urban parks

This paper provides a solution for long-term unexecuted urban parks and its implication by evaluating the policy elements using an analytic hierarchy process approach. The policy elements evaluation was carried out for a group of experts related to long-term unexecuted urban planning facilities or parks. The evaluation process consisted of the following three steps: the selection of policy elements, the weights assessment, and an analysis of the evaluation results. The empirical findings show that experts place a high value on policy elements, such as government subsidies (0.183), the linkage between a municipal fiscal plan and an executive plan (0.165), a reconsideration of the current long-term unexecuted urban parks (0.154), and a grant or long-term lease of state-owned land (0.110). A wide range of in-depth discussion is strongly needed ahead of the sunset regulation on urban parks, which will take effect in 2015.
Numerical Analysis for Lateral Earth Pressure on Retaining Wall with Relieving Platform backfilled with Jumoonjin Sand

Generally, the retaining wall is becoming unstable as the height is higher. On the other hand, the retaining wall with the relieving platform is more stable and more economical than any other type of retaining wall, because the relieving platform the reduce the lateral earth pressure. In this study, numerical analyses were carried out for 15 cases varying with the type of retaining wall, length and location of the relieving platform and the backfill type. From the numerical analyses, the reduction of the lateral earth pressure was checked and the results of numerical analyses were compared with that of model tests and theoretical equations. As the results of this study, the lateral earth pressure of the retaining wall with the relieving platform is considerably less than that of cantilever wall. And the of magnitude of the lateral earth pressure is affected by the length and location of relieving platform and the backfill type.
A case Study on Settlement and Bearing Capacity Improvement for Soft Clay Applying the Reinforcement Method using Stabilized Soil

In this study, the physical and dynamic characteristics of soil were analyzed by selecting 3 sections as research subjects among road and structure construction sections in the construction site of the Gwangyang
industry area, and conducted consolidation analysis and bearing capacity assessments through Midas-GTS according to the construction conditions of the structures and section conditions of reinforcement using stabilized soil. The effects of improving the settlement and bearing capacity according to the improved effects of the stability and sections of reinforcement using stabilized soil in applying the reinforcement method using stabilized soil were analyzed as a solution for improving the settlement and bearing capacity of soft clay for constructing roads and structures. The improvement effects of the settlement and bearing capacity were outstanding when the reinforcement method using stabilized soil to the soft clay was applied. After applying the reinforcement method using stabilized soil, the holdback effect of the consolidation settlement was excellent by decreasing the volume of the consolidation settlement from a minimum of 53% to a maximum of 82%. When the width of the reinforcement using stabilized soil was twice the width of the constructed structure, it was found that the holdback effect of the consolidation settlement ranged from 1% to 7% through the width of reinforcement using stabilized soil. In addition, when applying reinforcement more than 6m in width and 1m in depth using stabilized soil, it was found that the increase in the allowable bearing capacity was 2.3 to 3.3 times more than that before applying the reinforcement, which suggests that the increase in bearing capacity by applying the reinforcement method using stabilized soil was significant.

This study examined the design planning factors affecting the service users` satisfaction in the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex through a PLS regression model. The research result showed that 12 crucial design planning factors out of a total 31 planning factors have a more than 1.0 VIP. In addition, 8 comparatively important planning aspects that were measured between 0.9 and 1.0 were also investigated. These factors were the strategic design planning factors estimating the quantitative priority while enforcing the design improvement project and they should be considered as a useful material for strengthening the competitive power of the Seoul Digital Industrial Complex.
Conservation of Hanok Houses and Urban Regeneration -a case study of Sosongdong in Taegu City-

This paper provides a critical perspective in historic conservation with reference to Hanok (Korean Traditional Courtyard houses) built in central Taegu city, Korea. These Hanok houses began to emerge in the 1920s near the city castle during the Japanese occupation. The houses were shrewdly crafted into a small site in an urban context. Towards the end of 1980s, the demand for urban regeneration arose due to dilapidation of the timber structure and fire safety. Proposals were made to redevelop the areas, but they did not progress past this point. No attempts were made for conservation either and the urban fabric disintegrated continuously. The area is now largely unattended for conservation or redevelopment. This research intends to create an historic account of Hanok in an urban context for its enduring characteristics and historicity as charm and merit that deserve careful apprehension and conservation. This paper suggests that conservation not only serves to gentrify the cultural disruption of the early 20th century but also contributes towards urban regeneration.
Numerical Study of Drag Forces Acting on a Submerged Square Cylinder in Steady Flow Condition

In this study, the drag forces on a submerged square cylinder were analyzed using a three dimensional hydrodynamic model. The numerical results were compared with the experimental results to check the reliability of the numerical simulations, and the characteristics of the drag forces with the relative depths were analyzed by analyzing the pressure acting on the cylinder surface, which are normally difficult to measure experimentally. The numerical results showed that the drag forces acting on a submerged square cylinder originate mainly from the pressure forces, and component of the shear forces decreased with increasing relative depth. The pressure coefficient distributions showed that in the case of a low relative depth, a relatively high pressure was formed in the front of a cylinder, and a relatively low pressure was formed in the rear, which gives a high drag coefficient. In a high relative depth, the pressure in the front decreased and pressure in the rear increased, which is a similar phenomenon to that normally observed in two dimensional square cylinder flow. The effect of the static pressure was analyzed and the surface elevation difference between the front and rear zone of a cylinder has a limited effect on the drag forces. Finally, the numerical results showed that the drag forces acting on a submerged square are dominated by the dynamic pressure formed by three dimensional flow and the distribution of local surface elevation.
Comparative Case Analysis for Development Characteristics of Foreign and Domestic Share-Houses

The portion of single-household in Korea is more than 20% of the total household, and expected to be increase every year and reach 24% in 2030. For the accommodation of single-households, a small housing system called the share-house has appeared and developed in Japan and Europe. In this study, a comparative case analysis was performed to determine the development criteria for foreign and domestic cases. The analysis was conducted in view of the building type and scale, plan layout, add-on facilities and features, and operational methods and target tenants. In the cases of Korea, the share-house is mainly developed through the remodeling of a single detached house with the characteristics of small scale and living room centered plan targeting specific individuals with clear operating themes. For foreign cases, it was developed through the remodeling of various buildings, such as hotels or motels, having the characteristics of medium or large scale and corridor type plan targeting for various individuals with a range of operational methods reflecting regional features.

This study examined the QM(Quartier Management) Program of Germany for the Regeneration of Deteriorated Residential Blocks in Berlin. This study used basic data research for the `Neighborhood Management Program` in South Korea. Therefore, German local documents, organization web sites, internal reports were analyzed to understand the status of the Germany`s urban regeneration policies and present the conditions. This study was conducted by local interviews, e-mail exchanges and telephone interviews. The following were investigated and analyzed: 1) the present conditions of the urban regeneration policies and regional regeneration in Germany; 2) the characteristics of the QM program (Program`s strategy, funding and utilization plans, program`s applicable areas, Indicators for regional selection); and 3) examine two cases of the QM Program in Berlin.
Analysis of Stormwater Runoff Characteristics for Spatial Distribution of LID Element Techniques using SWMM

As the storm water runoff characteristics in urban areas have changed owing to urbanization, centralized facilities to reduce the urban flood runoff had been implemented. On the other hand, because they have their limitations, LID (Low Impact Development) of the distributed facilities for storm water runoff reduction is being actively planned and applied. The purpose of this study was to analyze the runoff characteristics for the spatial distribution of typical LID element techniques. This study set a study basin consisting of the five subbasins with the same basin and drainage systems, and analyzed the flood runoff characteristics from the two scenarios, one is for the locations and the other is for the number of green roofs (GR) and permeable pavement (PP), respectively, selected as typical LID element techniques. The SWMM implementation results showed that GR reduces 11.07% of the total and 3.42% of the peak amounts of storm water runoff, and PP leads to 18.09% of the total and 17.94% of the peak discharge reduction for a subbasin. Such a reduction rate is constant regardless of the LID locations, and increases linearly with the number of LID applications. The different runoff reduction rates between the GR and PP applications appear to be due to the effects of the different hydraulic conductivities in the control parameters for each LID.

, a systematic study of the thermal history in the case of re-use is needed. Nylon 66/glass fiber extrudates as a function of the extrusion number were prepared using a twin screw extruder at 305/290/273/268/265/

The chemical structure, thermal properties, melt index, crystal structure, Izod impact strength, and rheological properties were measured by Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR), melt indexer, DSC, TGA, XRD, Izod impact tester, and dynamic rheometer. The FT-IR spectra indicated that the number of extrusions did not affect the chemical structure. The decrease in molecular weight with increasing extrusion number was confirmed by the melt index and the complex viscosity of extrudates. Based on the DSC and TGA results, the thermal history had no effect on the melting temperature, regardless of the number of extrusions, but the degradation temperature decreased up to
with increasing extrusion number. The Izod impact strengths of the extrudates were found to decrease with increasing extrusion number. No structural change after extrusion was also confirmed because there was no change in the slope and shape of the G`-G" plot.
Reuse Alternatives Analysis of Closed Unsanitary Landfills

The aim of this study was to suggest site-specific reuse alternatives for closed unsanitary landfills (CULs) scattered in Gyeongbuk Province. The CULs were classified with the factors affecting the site reuse alternative to provide basic data for systematic site reuse. Statistical analysis showed that the site area was the main factor in site classification among the site area, distance to road, and distance to the village. The results proposed a site-specific guide flow to the reuse of the CULs.

The automotive exhaust gases generated by the vehicles containing carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and lead, is a large concern because of their harm to human health or the living environment. To reduce exhaust gas, it is important to develop a variety of techniques that are currently being used by elemental analysis to determine the optimal conditions. In this study, the anti-freeze coolant contained in the exhaust gas was examined, which can affect the emissions. The effects of the commercially available coolant from five domestic companies on the HC, NOx and
emissions were analyzed to determine the optimal amount of antifreeze. In addition, antifreeze products from the five companies were analyzed with respect to driving time of the cooling fan and the correlation of the NOx emission analysis. The temperature of the engine oil was matched using a manual gear of small passenger inspection standard speed

Degradation of a nano-thick Au/Pt bilayered catalytic layer with an electrolyte in dye sensitized solar cells

DSSC device with a glass/FTO/blocking layer/
/N719(dye)/electrolyte/50 nm-Pt/50 nm-Au/FTO/glass was prepared to examine the stability of the Au/Pt bilayered counter electrode (CE) with electrolyte and the energy conversion efficiency (ECE) of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). For comparison, a 100 nm-thick Pt only CE DSSC was also prepared using the same method. The photovoltaic properties, such as the short circuit current density (
), open circuit voltage (
), fill factor (FF), and ECE, were checked using a solar simulator and potentiostat with time after assembling the DSSC. The microstructure of the Au/Pt bilayer was examined by optical microscopy after 0~25 minutes. The ECE of the Pt only CE-employed DSSC was 4.60 %, which did not show time dependence. On the other hand, for the Au/Pt CE DSSC, the ECEs after 0, 5 and 15 minutes were 5.28 %, 3.64 % and 2.09 %, respectively. The corrosion areas of the Au/Pt CE determined by optical microscopy after 0, 5, and 25 minutes were 0, 21.92 and 34.06 %. These results confirmed that the ECE and catalytic activity of Au/Pt CE decreased drastically with time. Therefore, a Au/Pt CE-employed DSSC may be superior to the Pt only CE-employed one immediately after integration of the device, but it would degrade drastically with time.
Dewaterability Improvement and Volume Reduction of Bio-Solid using Ultrasonic Treatment

This study examined the effectiveness of ultrasound on enhancing the dewaterability and volume reduction of bio solids from a waste treatment plant. The test specimen was obtained from a storage tank immediately before the dewatering process at a local treatment plant. The test conditions included the energy levels of ultrasonic waves and treatment time. The tests were undertaken using three types of different treatment processors (7 liter, 1 ton, 7 ton container). The capillary suction time (CST) and the viscosity of sludge, which is one of the influencing factors for dewaterbility, were obtained under various test conditions. The results showed that ultrasound increases the CST of the raw specimens, whereas a significant reduction (20 % of the maximum value) of CST occurred in the sample with ultrasound and flocculent. The decrease in viscosity reached 40 % of the maximum value. A centrifugal test was performed to examine the characteristics of the sludge settlement. The settling rate and time required to reach the final values were both enhanced by the ultrasonic energy. An ultrasonic treatment is potentially useful tool for reducing the amount of released sludge. To examine the possible use of field application, the real scale sonic processor was designed and operated. The results were similar (50 % of the maximum value) to those of laboratory experiments.
Fabrication of Biomass Based Polyethylene Furoate Nanofiber by Electrospinning

Nanofibers have attracted significant interest in many industrial fields because their high surface area and porosity. In addition, the continued use of petrochemical based polymers has caused the depletion of oil resources and accelerated the greenhouse effect by the emission of carbon dioxide. Therefore, biomass-based polymer has become a very important environmentally friendly alternative. In this study, nanofibers were fabricated by an electrospinning process using biomass based PEF(polyethylene furoate) prepared by the polymerization of 2,5-furandicaboxylic acid and ethylene glycol. Furthermore, the electrospun nanofiber was strongly affected by various parameters, such as the solvent, polymer concentration and electric field. In conclusion, nanofibers with an average fiber diameters of 200 - 700 nm could be prepared at polymer concentration of 15 wt% using HFIP, and their fiber diameter increased with increasing electric field.
Effect of Drying Time and Additives regarding the Physical Properties of Vegetable Fatty Acid Soap

Vegetable fatty acid solid soap requires a drying process for moisture evaporation and hardness after being manufactured through saponification. Although the soap is manufactured by mixing additives mainly from natural ingredients, existing studies have focused primarily on the usability of vegetable solid soap. Consequently, research into the physical properties of vegetable fatty acid solid soap mixed with natural ingredients has been unsatisfactory. Therefore, this study attempted to compare and observe the changes in the physical properties (pH, surface tension, critical micelle concentration, and cleansing power) of solid soap in accordance with the drying period and additives (tea tree E.O and
) using pH paper, the Du Nouy measurement method, sedimentation method, and ultrasound washer. Regardless of the mixture with additives, vegetable fatty acid solid soap showed the same pH, and there was no change in the pH while maintaining pH 8 beginning from the
weeks of drying. In addition, as a result of measuring the surface tension and CMC, regardless of the drying period, only the soap added with
showed an even value of 62.5mg/L, whereas the other soap specimens showed a decline in CMC to 25mg/L on the fourth week of drying. As a result of measuring the detergency, the removal efficiency of vegetable fatty acid solid soap mixed with tea tree E.O and
and dried for four weeks was 4.50~4.65%, which was higher than that of the vegetable fatty acid solid soap without additives (3.62~3.92%).
Effect of irradiation and LDPE content on crystal formation of PP

The crystallization behavior of irradiated polypropylene (PP) and the blend is an important parameter for polymer processing. Blends of PP/low density polyethylene (LDPE) with different LDPE contents were prepared by melt mixing in a twin screw extruder. The effect of the LDPE content on the irradiation effectiveness of the PP/LDPE blend with trimethylolpropane-trimetacrylate (TMPTMA) as a crosslinking co-agent was investigated in conjunction with the LDPE loading in the blend. The non-isothermal crystallization and crystal structure were measured by DSC, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and polarized optical microscopy (POM). A decrease in the melting temperature of PP was observed due to irradiation, which may be due to the PP chain scissioning effect of irradiation. The Ozawa component n represents a rod shaped, disc shaped and sphere-shaped geometry of the crystal if the value corresponds to 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Based on Ozawa analysis, the values of n were 3.8 and 2.3 for the pure PP and PP blends with 30 wt% LDPE, respectively. The fact that the crystal geometry of PP changed from spherical to disc and rod shaped was confirmed by Ozawa analysis and POM. The
form XRD peak of the PP/LDPE blend at
disappeared after irradiation due to the crosslinking reaction.
